The Cannon in Guildford

Katy was brilliant. I am a diabetic and didn’t feel too well but she knew what to do straight away and that customer service is the only thing people ask for so I very much appreciated it. All of the staff were brilliant too with helping my friend’s birthday out.

Hi Guildford, this bar is a hidden gem. The garden design is beautiful as you can sit even in the rain. They have a live DJ on Fridays . It's not crowded, you can understand what you're talking about. Thank you to the smiling staff :))

I had seen this bar while passing through Guildford and a friend and I thought we would try it one night, especially since the closure of Komo's. The atmosphere lastnight just didn't feel right and the DJ music wasn't catchy enough to make people want to stay. A request for some slightly different music was also turned down. It isn't somewhere we would rush back to.

Great place to grab a drink and food from upstairs. Loads of places to sit inside and out. The staff are really friendly and helpful!

Staff are incredibly friendly and attentive during the day when foods served but also during the more lively evenings. food is exceptional, I highly recommend the H breakfast.

New owners (3months ago? Owned by Young couple), better than being brand owned, not busy as still building up reputation, i liked it, give it a try and see for yourself, seemed quiet unless you go for one of the events they hold on weekends etc. 5 min walk from highstreet

We hired the H Bar for an event , and was over the moon with the top notch support Harry and his team gave us during the event pre production and on the night. Many of our 100 plus guests spoke to me on how friendly the bar staff and doormen were and loved the vibe, refreshing to experience that ‘can do will do’ attitude is part of the H Bar’s customer service . Love the Cannon. Friendly couple run the bar, cheap beers and a good pool table. I’ve enjoyed winning the Friday night doubles pool ‘tournament’ on multiple occasions with my partner Terry. Keep up the good work

Such an improvement! I havnt been in a couple months but came in for a quick pint and will definitely be back. Sue and Emma were really friendly and made me feel really comfortable and was nice to not feel surrounded by chaos after a long work day. I would definitely recommend!!

Under new management and now it serves real ale. Bath "Gem" was in good condition so had 2. Needs some money spent on interior, but worth a visit nonetheless

Welcoming and lively despite it being late night

Wake up Guildford, you have a gem on your doorstep. The Cannon might not be in the centre of Guildford but it is only a stone's throw away and, after a recommendation from a friend, saying this was the best roast in Guildford, we had the most wonderful Sunday lunch there today. The roast beef was tender and thick cut, the roast potatoes were crispy and the fresh veg served on the side was the best I've seen for a very long time - and they will bring you more if you still have room! And all this for just £12.95. The landlady, Louise, and all her staff are lovely and really know how to offer customers great service and a great food offering. I really do urge you to try The Cannon. You won't be disappointed. AND black cutlery! What's not to love?

Went there friday night just after 10pm. Pub busy but door locked. Was shouted at through the door to F--k off and someone came to the door sticking hes middle finger at us and again shouting f--k off. What a awful and vile way to treat a customer. A total dump. Stay well clear

Awful pub full of incredibly disrespectful people. They cancelled 2 amazing gigs just because some very rude regulars didn't like the music, wouldn't recommend.

Bro this pub is whack! Overpriced. The regulars are the worst people I’ve ever encountered. Not friendly to non-alcoholic-crackheads. Says they have live music, but shuts it down after 30 mins because it’s not up to the regulars taste. Not only did the music get shut down early, the regulars were super rude and proved their quality... which is none. If you’re thinking of going here... don’t. Just go to spoons like everyone else.

Horrible management, too many old people complaining about younger customers having fun, went to see a gig of young, talented people, but got shut down because of the same old people complaining about the level of the music and the quality of it, will never visit again

The regulars are rude. The pub hired 2 bands for a music night and the regulars asked for the gig to get shut down after 25 mins.

Not a place to relax. Felt like I was in a horror movie. People getting into a machine to be sprayed with some weird disinfectant. Never again.

Too noisy for my taste music too loud

This pub is so ungrateful that it considers its customers to be germ vessels. You are not allowed in unless you go through the decontimination chamber at the entrance. I hope that they are insured for skin, nasal, throat and lung cancer that will result from people going through it.

Can't breastfeed in this pub. The landlord just stared at me like a piece of meat most people have a look for 2sec.

The cannon is under new management by a fantastic family, they make you feel so welcoming, great entertainment, and the BEST Yorkshire puddings I have ever had on Lou’s Sunday roasts! The chicken was moist and gravy delicious! This is a massive turnaround for this pub, and recommending to everyone! The garden has the best flowers too, with dogs always welcome!

I ordered one if the Christmas pies called the cracker tonight with mash and gravy and was really impressed with it. I was looking for pieminister own trip advisor page but then discovered it was part of this pub. Although I ordered my meal from deliveroo I still felt a review needed to be left as the quality of my pie , the portion, my mash was so fluffy, everything was so good. I am a northerner here for a few days for work and after a long day travelling having one of these pies and a beer made me feel back at home. Worth a visit to have one or use deliveroo.

I am not able to review this pub since I am not sure if has closed down or not, if someone can clarify please? I rang on a Tuesday many times with no answer and the pubs email server bounces back your e mails . I then went along to the pub and found it closed on a Tuesday lunchtime with all chairs on the tables and no sign of life.

Not sure about this place. It's not exactly THE pub to be in Guildford. The live 'band' last night seemed to have consisted of two guys fresh off a building site that had managed to string a number of well known rock songs, play an intro or two and then stop. I've had and heard better band rehearsals than that. The Caribbean style bar out back was built just in time for the winter too! 👍🏻

Great pub for live music, off the beaten track, so go out of your way to go there. Good for playing pool as well

The stella in there is a good.We were paying for our drinks by taping our card on the card reader thing as many of us do now. To our surprize the next day we had a phone call from the bank saying someone was trying to use our bank card to buy stuff in the cannon!!!! Allways get a receipt after each transaction!!!

10/10 burgers and food. Decent prices and that barman Damon's an alright geezer I guess. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Nice place for guys....not a ladies pub

I was walking by on my way to the train station and decided to quench my thirst. It was a Tuesday afternoon and I was the only customer for the 45 minutes that I sat at the bar nursing a Guinness. The bartender was friendly. There were several food specials signs inside and out. Not sure about the quality of the food, but I'd be willing to give it another go if in the area again.

Really damn Good here service is beyond reproach. The guy with the dreds and flesh tunnels should get a pay raise very attentive and friendly guy. I must go now to indulge in my hobby of bus surfing left in high spirits

The staff were rude. The food was not good at all and was very expensive for the low quality it obviously was - I've had better meals from McDonalds! I perhaps could have forgiven the bad food but the staff were rude and clearly had better things to do from the moment we walked through the door. I wouldn't even bother going in for a drink .Nasty place, nasty people.

Enjoyed a fantastic meal this afternoon. Lovely friendly pub, amazing tasty food, super staff who were very accommodating. Not a huge place but able to seat us as a party of 15 with no hassle. Kids enjoyed the pool table and darts, well situated for easy parking in town. Highly recommended.

Our group of 4 were treated to excellent food including; roast beef, fish and chicken. The food was served promptly by friendly staff who made us very welcome. The beef was very tender and the chips were rated excellent. On this occasion we were the only customers eating - others were drinking. The pub has recently changed management and reverted to its old name. This is treat for those looking for good food and a friendly atmosphere.

Relaxing place to have a drink with a group of friends. Was easily able to reserve an area for 10 of us.

So much better after the recent refit from it being the firefly / keystone. Decent atmosphere and garden and no more wooden crates on the walls

The Canon just been refurbished, previously called the Keystone. Has a good vibe to the place which has a soul and funk night on Saturday evenings. Also has a Stand Up Mike Comedy night on Thursdays. Has outdoor seating at the back which is lovely when the weather is nice. Well worth a visit.

The food from upstairs is good and it's not too busy.

Turned up Thursday evening (23/2/17) for Pie and it was closed. Very disappointed 😞
