The most disgusting meal I can recall eating anywhere - let alone a restaurant. 2 courses and not a single element cooked as it should be. I’d swear that the dauphinois was reheated from another day. Swamped in a weird sugary gravy to mask the fact that the cut of lamb was not a rump and charred. The burnt lamb was still repeating on me at 10pm. In addition, dirty glasses and filthy cobwebbed windows. Utterly disgraceful.

On a mission to visit Chartwelll Hever Castle and watch football in Kent. . Old fashioned pub with rooms. Great food exceptional breakfast family run .

We had dinner here. Food great, atmosphere great, friendly staff. Service was a curate's egg, good in parts. Would we go again? Probably.

Absolutely brilliant stay here with the family. The room was lovely nice clean sheets television tea and coffee facilities water fans. Very clean. Food was amazing we had lovely breakfast fantastic choice of all different foods . Evening meal was amazing too . Service very quick all staff very attentive. We woild definitely come again mu daughter thought it was brilliant too and she's only 7. We had not even booked and it was very last minute and they managed to fit us in. Really great experience overall and I'm very particular with service etc. If we ever came to this area again we would definitely come back. Thankyou

Very cosy and friendly hotel with comfortable rooms and good breakfast options. Easy free parking and very quiet at night meaning a good nights sleep. Will be my hotel of choice when in the area.

Popped in for a Half Pint while using the Osprey Charger in the Car Park. Ale was good and the staff were polite.

The food was awful ..rump of lamb that was inedible being the worst..more than one of..small slice of honeycomb and white chocolate cheesecake that was milk/dark chocolate on top for £7.50, and tastes of nothing.... go to the black horse over the road and have some decent grub for your money

What a fantastic restaurant. I am a vegetarian, the Beetroot and Butternut Squash Wellington was amazing. The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. I asked if they could get me a taxi, how amazed was I when Simon offered to give us a lift back to our hotel. That was way above and beyond his usual job role. Nine of us were booked in for dinner on 2nd Tuesday in April Service very friendly throughout but food disappointing I had meat ball linguine in tomato sauce, with garlic bread .Average quality & flavour. I had ordered a white chocolate & honey combe cheesecake but a dark chocolate one was delivered without explanation of why the other one was unavailable .Not particularly tasty & overpriced for what it was .Overall disappointing today although restaurant is cosy and in a nice location

Sad, tired and soul-less place. food average and atmosphere non existent . Long overdue a revamp. Has so much potential. Shame

It is always a delightful experience to dine here. The pub food is of excellent quality, the service is always friendly, and the prices are quite reasonable.

Super place that serves Harvey's and staff are so nice

We had a family meal here on Sunday 25th February to celebrate my daughter's birthday and thoroughly enjoyed it. We all had the carvery and between us tried all the meat options. In each case the meat was tender and perfectly cooked as were the vegetables. The accompanying sauces were very good especially the horse radish (as long as you like it hot!). The atmosphere is laid back and the staff are all friendly whilst still serving efficiently. We didn't have to wait for anything. All in all a very enjoyable experience and one I will be repeating soon.

I had the toughest lamb rump I've ever had and my girlfriend had the most beige carvery I've ever seen, apparently the only green vegetable available were peas! My 4 year old had the smallest portion of chicken goujons I've ever seen! Not a good experience!

We were welcomed as soon as we arrived, and as my husband is having Chemo, asked if we could sit away from busy tables.The young man and waitress couldn’t have been more helpful.The food as great, the restaurant was lovely and d warm, and we couldn’t have been looked after better.We have been here a few times for family get togethers and have always had good food and a pleasant evening.

Booked on the day for Sunday lunch, arrived no problem , issued tickets for carvery, no warning there would be any delay, after 55 minutes we asked if we were near to getting lunch, they said we could go to carvery to get the lunch. No word of apology for the delay. Food extremely average, staff looked fed up, had to ask for water etc. when we explained to owner how disappointed we were she explained they had a large booking, which we wondered why they had accepted our booking if that was the case. No apologies, no interest, just wanted our money and had no interest in our experience. Do not recommend!

No walk in tables available for dinner

Popped in for lunch, had beef sandwiches, slice of beef in each that had sinew all the way through so it was difficult to bite through, we had to pull the good bit of beef apart and try to pick round it, the white bread turned to a pappy dough when you bit it and they had used a cheap spread/marg that I had to scrape out. All in all a disgusting sandwich, we were hungry and ate what we could, maybe half but left the inedible beef and most of the bread. When I took the plates up to tell the girl behind the bar she was quite dismissive, I will tell the chef she said. Then no apology. She didn’t say a word. I asked for some money back and she said it would need to go via the manager; very negative response. The manager, also quite confrontational in his manner said that we had ‘cleared the plates’ so could not have a refund. WE HAD NOT. I told him that we had only eaten half of that and he challenged us on that. No customer service and no apology. When I asked for a refund he said he would only refund our 2 drinks! £6.50. In my opinion when a customer tells you your food is way below standard I would apologise, offer a refund and hope to see the customer again. Will never eat there again. Waste of money and left feeling scolded. Bad management.

Went for Sunday lunch 4 adults 2 children (4 and 6 years old). Children wanted apple juice to drink - who on earth serves a 4 and 6 year old with pint glasses full to the brim with apple juice ? The carvery food was poor, my beef was tough, the vegetables were either overcooked or had just sat there too long. The waiting staff were inattentive and miserable. We have been here before and it was much better but I will never go again. Not one of us finished our lunch and we all left rather disappointed.

Been to this establishment on a couple of occasions for lunch and although I have always enjoyed the meal the atmosphere is terrible. We always seem to be given a table that is away from everyone and everything and hate eating in an environment that is just me and my wife, which is not very sociable. On my first visit We asked not to be placed near the door as it was drafty and since then we have been banished to the middle of nowhere and am not going to bother to ask for another table again, as I think that their attitude would place us even worse off. So until they improve their customer service then I won't bother to book again

I asked about xmas day menu and what would the the price for be for a 2 year old, to be told well none of us want to be here christmas day!! I felt that was a rude response. Just asking about prices. We ordered food the kids meal had a long blonde hair throughout the dinner, which was underneath the food so we spoke to the manager again who said oh that's odd is it in the sausage? and we said it was underneath the sausage and chips we asked for a new dinner (none of it had been eaten) he agreed to bring a new dinner, new dinner came out within 5 mins , then he was quizzing us again and said its really weird as noone has blonde hair here. He clearly didn't believe us. My sons pizza tasted of soap he said worst pizza he's ever eaten and the carvery meat was inedible I couldn't even cut the meat. I had to ask for a steak knife it was full of fat. We refused to pay for the uneaten pizza to be told he needed more evidence.?? Perhaps try your own food? As a family we have been going to the camden for years never had such a poor meal. We definitely won't be going back the manager has a really bad attitude problem.

Thinking our faces are getting a bit familiar at this large village pub , even the young waitress was willing to go along with our teasing to a late comer in our group. Sunday carvery up to expectations, plenty of other choices if that’s not desired. Bit of a muddle around the bar to get drinks ordered, I think too many staff members there sometimes, but it was sorted before I died of thirst ! Recommend the chicken & chorizo Kebabs

Sunday lunch for 3. Wonderful sea bass, & char grilled chicken & chirozo kebab, really lovely. Staff very helpful, but not intrusive. Very relaxing meal, all good, thank you. Would easily recommend, good location just off A21.

We use this pub often, so we haven’t been disappointed. The menu is vast in choice- but they always manage to pull it off, whatever we order. Staff are efficient & friendly- and you can always get a good carvery there on a Sunday, if preferred.

Managed to get a table for Sunday lunch and liked the idea that it was not just a carvery but that you could order from the a la carte menu as well. Table was a tad small but we had booked last minute, the staff were attentive and took our drinks and food order relatively quickly. As I wanted a dessert, I had the fillet steak, chips and sauce. A side of onion rings rounded things off nicely. The steak was not quite as I had asked, I wanted medium rare but it was a lot closer to medium, and as no one came to ask how our food was, I just ate it and mentioned it afterwards. The one stand out item was the Brandy and Peppercorn sauce. It is probably the best sauce I have ever had with a steak and I wished there was more. The let down for the meal was the Strudel we ordered for Dessert. Note to everyone, if you microwave pastry, as they admitted they did, it gets soggy. Not nice. The meal was better than average, but less than very good, so taking everything into consideration, that's why I called it average. I am sure that they could do so so much better.

Visited on a Friday night with husband and two teens. Burger, fish and chips and chicken/ribs combo was nice. I had the duck which was disappointing- swimming in thin orange sauce which was not nice. Was told that was how it was supposed to be. They did take it away and pour the sauce off but at £22 wasn’t great.

We went for a family meal today. The carvery was delicious, three meat and one vegetarian/vegan option available. Everybody enjoyed their meal. The service was great, too, our order was taken promptly, drinks arrived quickly and plates were cleared once we had finished.

Had to of been the worse vegan burger I’ve ever had. At £15 I’d of been better going to McDonald’s at least they do a decent one Vegan opinions were limited and I thought this was a safe choice. The hotel/pub manager served a gentleman who was clearly intoxicated so much so that he fell several times on the floor. One or two others were very worse for wear. The music was loud beat type and not conducive to a quite drink or conversation....

Whilst the food was good the service was appalling and I won’t be returningHaving eaten here before I have always been impressed by the friendly service - I know staff have a lot to contend with with Covid but. We thought of attending this establishment as we've had previous good meals here in the past, however, it soon transpired that we should not have bothered. On arrival, we were satisfied that good thought was put into ensuring the Restaurant was adhering to the Government's coronavirus guidance. We ordered the chicken fillet burger, the liver and bacon and the steak, ale and mushroom pie (advertised as homemade). When the food was served, it transpired that the pie's pastry was rock hard and the filling as tough as old boots. I suspect the pie was baked beforehand, left to stand and reheated in the microwave. Either way, the quality was not befitting of the full price of £11.95 price, and certainly not value for money even with the 50% reduction from the eat out to help scheme. It was surprising that the waiter did not once ask how our meal was, not least because the establishment was virtually empty, as I would have certainly sent it back and asked for something different. The waiters looked like they didn't want to be there and were lacking in their attention to detail, especially with condiments. The liver and bacon was overcooked (and burnt in some places). It didn't come with vegetables, which was odd in all honesty. The quality looked poor and again wasn't worth the price tag. The burger, however, was well presented, chips cooked nicely and the filling as it should be. This was a regretful meal for two of us and we'd be reluctant to return if that's what's being served. I don't see why customer's should bother to help out establishments like this one when clearly there's no pride taken in the food served.

We had a meal and two of our people had to cancel as they were very ill with gastroentoitis. They got out out of their sick bed very early to let the restaurant know and give them maximum time. They certainly weren't well enough to do this but in all common deciency they made the effort.The couple who ran the pub still insisted on keeping their deposit which we thought was rather harsh. Worse than that the lady was barking orders like a sargeant major and shouting at her staff all the time we were there. There were no pleases and no thankyous and she was causing a bad atmosphere. Some of the stafff were young girls and they looked very upset. We had been there a few times before and as ever the food was extremely pleasant and been very happy but all the bad atmosphere left a nasty taste in the mouth.

Nipped in here after a days shooting. My friend had fish cakes and I had a Sirloin Steak with chips, tomatoes and mushroom. Very slick, polite,efficient service by the waitress and what turned out to be, the hotel owner. Both were deliciously cooked and quickly served as we were hungry. Nothing appeared too much trouble and the menu was extensive, to say the least . This place is a gem, will definitely return for another steak!!! Well done the Camden Arms

This was our first visit to The Camden Arms in Pembury. It was a last minute decision for somewhere we haven’t been before for a midweek meal and we were very happy with our decision, we didn’t book a table and just turned up. Plenty of choice on the menu, warm and relaxing surroundings with friendly staff. The service was very good and the food was excellent. We have since found out there is a carvery on Sundays but have been advised to book ahead as it is very popular. We look forward to coming back soon.

On Monday lunchtime the bar was absolutely heaving so we knew we would be in for a wait for our food. In the end we waited 45 minutes for our order to arrive.The lad behind the bar tried to charge us over £14 for two drinks which my husband obviously queried. It should have been £6 cheaper! Also, having waited all that time for the food he came and snatched our plates away just as we were taking our last bites. Maybe it was his first day working in a restaurant and /or he doesn't eat out much himself?When it finally arrived the food was excellent. I had a great chicken burger - tasty, succulent, coated chicken fillets in a brioche bum with salad a spicy mayo, crispy onion rings and amazingly good chips. BUT SERVED ON A BLOODY SLATE AND IN A WIRE BASKET WHICH I HATE!!!!! The food just won't stay in place, keeps falling onto the table & it just feels & sounds awful when your cutlery scrapes over stone - WHY!!!!My husband had the chilli (thankfully served on a plate!) and said it was one of the best he had ever had. We didn't have time for dessert which was sad as the menu contained all of our favourites. We will return but only when it is not so busy as the poor staff were flustered.

I have visited a number of pubs/restaurants in the Kent area, many of whom have various boasts, such as 'award winning' or they have a Michelin star chef, but I have found most of them delivering a so so meal.The Camden Arms Restaurant, on the other hand, deliver really 'yummy' food. When I visited in November 2019 one lunchtime, in a party of six, all of us, without exception were all pleased with our respective meals. The plates were well presented and each dish was delicious. We will certainly visit again.

Bit disappointed. Great looking menu but if anything, too many dishes. Over-baked Camenbert but good jam accompaniment. Dried-out gammon steak Not the sort of establishment I would recommend to others.

This restaurant does not have the freshest food unfortunately, I also found hair in my food. It could be a great place but it’s not. The staff are also extremely rude and couldn’t care less whether your there or not.

An amazing amount of choice on the menu. The portions were quite large but the quality of food was very good, presented really well too. There were four of us, all choosing something different and none of us had any complaints at all. Just 2 courses is more than ample! Service was very good too, staff friendly and accommodating. The ambiance was of a traditional English pub. Would certainly recommend a visit.

Very nice historic building and nice eating atmosphere. We had the Cauvery which was nicely cooked with lots of choice of vegetables. My only gripe, which was not the restaurant’s fault, was that we were placed near a large family group with very noisy children to the extent that we had difficulty hearing each other. The only other thing after desert we did want some coffee, but no staff came to the table to take our order. Overall I would call again

This pub is five minutes walk from my house and this was only the third time I've eaten there in 25 years and having eaten there again I remember why, the food is expensive and disappointing. My wife has a dairy allergy so often orders vegan option rather than asking if individual dishes contain dairy, she did this, but when the food turned she asked the waitress what the white sauce with it was "sour cream" was the answer. We pointed out it was supposed to be a vegan meal and therefore dairy free, so she left the food on the table went to speak to the chef, when she returned she took away the sour cream and the guacamole and said it's vegan now!

We made two visits to this excellent restaurant Comprehensive menu - everything we tried we liked. Good ambience. Certainly would recommend.Staff all helpful.

We were casting around for somewhere to feed us after a family bike ride at Bedgebury, and Camden house was only place locally that seemed to serve food after 6pm. The food was really very nice - lovely pink beef and delicious roast potatoes (a rare thing at a pub we find) and all the staff were lovely with our 2 little girls. Thank you!

An overnight stay to attend wedding. We were allowed to have our rooms early which was good. Rooms were small with dark furniture .

Pleasant surroundings, satisfactory service but really poor food. At £11.95 it is very reasonably priced and quantity of food very generous but inedible dry roast potatoes and tasteless Yorkshire pudding made for a half eaten plate of food.

Decor inside and out looked very cool and interesting. It had a really nice feel about it and was really big inside. LOADS to choose from

Four former football fan adversities agreed to meet on neutral turf , ( cannot go into detail for legal reasons ) , meant for a peaceful meeting and pleasant lunch . Advise to book , as on a Tuesday pm it was very busy . We all ate different dishes , all cooked well and had flavour and taste . Portions were not adequate for us and most of the dishes seemed to have spices not to our palates .Reasonable beer selection . The staff were very attentive and friendly . The décor dust free and interesting. Interesting display of Moet . Explained and served by the collector ,possibly the boss . All had deserts as still hungry Car park large but full of cars with all very similar VRN"s possibly a large family staying in the hotel part . If full , the on street parking, I feel would be tight . Should the truce hold shall choose again.

We had the most superb meal in this place, the staff were an absolute delight and were attentive enough to not be annoying but there when needed. Food was hot, very well presented and as we went specifically for the Liver & Bacon with mash potato and "Oh Boy was it good"! The chef needs a medal.

We held my sons christening party here today and the buffet food was fantastic, service was great for a big group and the back room leading out to the garden was perfect especially with kids. Was very happy with everything and will definitely be going again. I didn’t realise the pub was so nice having never visited in the 7 years I’ve lived in the village, will definitely be coming back again soon.

Ate here the other night and had lasagne. It was very bland and cold in the middle. The garlic bread was like 2 fingers and the "salad"was a few leaves that were well past their sell by date!

Three stars is perhaps harsh but I was disappointed by my lunch. The welcome was nice and the pub was busy (if a bit noisy) but the problems start with the overly long menu. No idea how the kitchen manages it and certainly can’t be cooked fresh. The steak pudding was over cooked, dry and heavy, the steak pie had over cooked pastry and too much fatty meat. The vegetables was good and well cooked - I am sure they were fresh!

We visited this restaurant for the second time and were not disappointed. A warm welcome by the staff, shown to a table and given menus. A large selection of food to choose from, we have had seven different meals over the two visits and every one excellent. I highly recommend the liver and bacon. The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We will certainly come back and recommend this restaurant to everyone. Prices very reasonable as well.

I got a starter the was garlic crouton garlic and grilled goats cheese.... I got deep fat fried flattened bread no garlic with goats cheese!!!

Our friends visiting so we took them to dinner the other Saturday night and were not disappointed - it is the 3rd time we have eaten in the Camden Arms. The menu is quite extensive and the food when it came was very good - it is not fancy, I would describe it as 'no nonsense pub grub with generous portions'. Their steak and ale and steak and kidney pies have a thin short crust pastry so unlike other places you don't have to wade through lots of pastry before enjoying the filling. The staff were friendly and the service good and our bill for four people including starters, mains and drinks came to just under £25 per person - good value. We would definitely go back there again.

I took my mum out for mothers day and I ordered a coke and this was completely flat and tasted of syrup. I asked the waiter if I could have a new one and they came back and the drink tasted the same. So I asked again and the same thing happened so I could not drink it. I ordered the meatballs and when the food came out there was a long black hair in my food, i could spot it before the plate was even put down so i mentioned it to the waitress and she didn't seem bothered at all. I can say i will not be eating here again.
