We have been to this cafe over the years but not again after being totally ignored as all around us were getting served, we just got up and left and felt totally invisible and ignored...not the good way to run a cafe, the staff need to be aware of their customers!

Our first visit here today - had pre-booked afternoon tea. Staff were really pleasant and helpful on the phone and we were made to feel very welcome on our arrival. Really pleased with the selection of savory items - great choice of sandwiches, which were neatly cut into fingers plus slices of homemade sausage roll and quiche. There was a nice selection of cakes and scones to follow. All the food was well presented. We were not rushed and the tables in the cafe were well spaced out. Will certainly be returning again to try the lunchtime menu. There was also a good selection of gluten free items, which is great as I will visit with a friend who is gluten intolerant.

Popped in while visiting the area for a take away. The sandwich had far too much leaf and not enough filling, very poor value for £6.50. The signature sandwich didn’t contain any mozzarella and the pickle in the special was the thinnest slither I have ever seen. A shame because the potential is huge however we won’t be visiting again!

Wasn't particularly busy, but waited ages for my cake order to arrive, so long infact I had to go chase it up, my friend had actually finished hers by the time mine came, should have had them both together really, girls behind counter seemed pretty miserable, impression was they didn't want us there. Very disappointed.

We were travelling from London to York and needed a lunch stopover. Using Tripadvisor we opted to detour here rather than use the various service stations. Very sound choice! Nearly came unstuck as they were full. However a table came free as we were walking away - phew! Really attentive service from the girls. The home made quiche and salad were superb.

Went to this CAFE for lunch recently. Was impressed by the quality of coffee and the cake particularly. The staff were efficient and friendly and helpful. Basically, it matched our expectations, Expectations derived from the excellent reviews here on TripAdvisor. However, I would humbly suggest a couple of improvements could be made. Firstly going on the sandwich I had, the filling could’ve been more substantial and the flavours were somewhat underpowered, thus the promise in the description was not quite delivered. Secondly, my portion of cake could’ve been, shall we say, a little more generous. These site problems won’t prevent us using the CAFE again, I have to say. Altogether, we had a enjoyable lunch and felt very comfortable in the surroundings.

Friendly cafe with a good choice of coffees and options for milk (oat, almond, soya) available. Great looking cakes and a nice variety of smoothies made with actual (frozen) fruit rather than syrups. I had eaten lunch before meeting a friend for coffee but the frittata looked so good that I managed to squeeze it in. Delicious. Close to Beacon Hill for a walk afterwards.

We visited the cafe next door this afternoon with 2 friends, we were greeted by friendly staff, temperature checked and shown to our table. The cafe is well presented bright and cheerful. The afternoon tea was a pleasing selection of sandwiches and savoury items, all freshly prepared and tasty, the selection of mini pastries came and we were not disappointed. There was ample food and they boxed up what we couldn’t eat to have later. Thank you to all the staff for a pleasant afternoon with delicious food.

A friend took me as a treat for afternoon tea. We were showed to very nice table, and from there went from bad to worse. We ordered water and for myself a coffee, my friend never got her tea. After a couple of sandwiches she wasn't feeling well, so I asked for the balance of the tea to be packed to bring home. We awaited 10 minutes for the sandwiches to be packed and another 5 minutes for the cakes. The sandwich selection was quite good, When I got home I emptied the boxes and thought my husband could have some cake instead of a pudding, but unfortunately they were very dry and not what you would expect for afternoon tea, they were ALL very plain. Extremely disappointed and my friend felt let down as it was supposed to be a treat for me The cakes shown in the photos I think are for show only, not what you get... On this result we will not be returning and neither will I recommend the Café Next Door. .

A friend bought me a voucher for afternoon tea at The Cafe Next Door for Christmas. I’d never visited before but had heard it had won an award for their afternoon tea! Phoned a week earlier to book a table and preorder sandwiches. Could chose 4 fillings from 6 choices which is good. When we arrived our table was set up and we were asked if we wanted tea or coffee. It’s a shame that the tea is unlimited but the coffee isn’t. Great for me as I’m a tea drinker and managed 2 pots full. However my partner only had one latte included in the price. Sandwiches were brought to us and were freshly made and tasty plus a couple of slices of quiche. We were then presented with our scones and cakes. All were very tasty. I had mentioned on the phone my partner was allergic to oranges so was a little perplexed that the fancy writing was actually orange flavoured chocolate. I did bring this to the servers attention as a minor point for future reference.

We visited as a treat and we were not left disappointed! We had recently had another afternoon tea at a hallmark hotel in August and this one had so much more quality. A selection of sandwiches you can choose from all made fresh and presented well. The accompanying pastry quiche and sausage roll slices were also delicious (my only criticism is I would have liked a bigger slice, but I'm not sure I would have been able to fit it in!). The staff were warm and welcoming and kept topping up our tea if we required. Then a beautiful selection of sweet treats which had great variety including the classic scone, jam and cream. All of the sweet treats were made and presented well and enjoyed in a lovely relaxed airy environment. If your thinking of going for afternoon tea definitely do, you won't be disappointed! I'm hoping we can return to sample some of the other breakfasts and brunches that were also being served as they all looked amazing!

We had cold drinks which were fabulous. We ordered Tortilla and ordered the 'Mixed Side Salad' as an extra. Mixed Salad consisted of 90% Rocket (a whole packet of what you can buy in a Supermarket per person) and 2 baby tomatoes cut in half, not what you would describe as a mixed Salad. We then ordered the scones with cream and jam. The scones were large and could have been lovely, but they were stodgy inside and the cream came in little timble sized 'Timbles'. Not enough to put on one half of the scone, let alone a whole scone. Not an experience I would like to repeat.

A small cafe, next door to a decorator's showroom, very easy to miss unless you know it's there. A varied and interesting menu, my partner and I both found the food delicious. The front of house female staff were friendly and efficient, and the young male chef certainly knew his trade. We were too full to purchase cake on our first visit, but returned the following week for just that pleasure, unfortunately our visit was late in the day and the best cakes had gone. Friends and colleagues had been recommending this to me for while because of the many gluten free offerings but I hadn't had the chance to visit since the arrival of my baby daughter. It was our wedding anniversary and I had arranged babysitting so I got in touch to see whether they might be able to do gluten free afternoon tea, they said they hadn't done one before but were happy to. It's a charming little cafe, it looks very small from the outside but there is more seating further through and even a little garden courtyard out back. We had a lovely table and were presented with a stoneware platter of little finger sandwiches which my husband and I both enjoyed, we had a lovely pot of tea and when we were finished were offered a refill and the choice of more sandwiches or moving onto dessert. We decided we were ready for sweets and were presented with a lovely little platter (photo attached) of macademia cookies, chocolate tart, coconut sponge and scones. We really enjoyed ourselves and it all met with the approval of my husband too (who can eat gluten and doesn't always enjoy gluten free offerings). The only thing I missed was delicate china and a cake stand but then the stoneware is more in keeping with the relaxed feel of The Cafe Next Door, I would recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxed, tasty afternoon tea. We felt well looked after and it was really special, particularly the hand piped message, thank you :)

You won't find a café like this for miles! It is perfectly situated and it is so refreshing to find home-made food served with a smile. Little additional touches make it all the more appealing like warm bread served with the soup, garnishes to all dishes and nothing is 'bog standard', receipts served in paint pots! A lovely little cafe in this delightful village. The staff are eager to please and the food presented in a fresh and attractive way. The baguette is really very tasty but ... since this cafe opened two changes seem to have been made. The only gluten free bakes on offer these days seem to be lemon drizzle and chocolate brownies. They served a lovely apricot cake when they first opened and you didn’t need to be gluten intolerant to enjoy it. Talking of cakes I have been in a couple of times recently and been served with minuscule slices of cake for £2.70 + each. Last time there was one moderate slice remaining on the plate but the waitress still cut it in half before bringing it over leaving little more than crumbs behind. Sorry for the negativity as everything else is really good but I will think twice before ordering cake again.

A really pleasant venue but way overpriced. Example scones were near 3 times the price of a nearby similar place, Very pleasant staff and good service

Popped in for tea and cakes with friends. The decor is very pleasant with nice gatherings of tables. There was a very friendly welcome. Tea and cakes were delicious, especially the scone. Toilet facilities were of a high standard.

These delightful tearooms are a recent addition to village amenities. Four pubs in this charming village but it is about time that we had a tearooms and they seem to have got it just right. It's nice to see some more unusual flavour combinations amongst the familiar old favourites of Victoria and chocolate sponge. The sandwiches are chunking delicious and the bacon was tasty. My wife could even find a couple of gluten free options. Although only tiny the arrangement of tables allows people to sit in a variety of locations in alcoves , garden rooms and outside in the small courtyard.

I've been meaning to visit here for a while and we managed to stop by for lunch today. It's brilliant! Excellent service, gorgeous food, wonderful coffee and beautifully designed and decorated interior and garden. All in all, this is one of the best cafes around: tasty, friendly, relaxing! I'm so lucky to live around the corner!

I was taken here by my friend who lives in Woodhouse - delicious coffee , cake and delightful ambience. we sat in the sun but there were sofas as well as chairs inside. Lovely friendly and prompt service. I shall definitely visit again, and am thinking who to bring next time. There is an interior design shop next door with amazing range of fabrics, papers and paints. .

We called in to Café Nineteen on spec after the previous café we visited only took cash. But what an excellent find! Extremely friendly and accommodating staff, great atmosphere, and very popular with the locals. The Café Nineteen Special Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked using quality ingredients including tea in bone china cups! Superb! Overall, a superb eatery and one I hope to return to soon.
