Nice traditional pub, good ales, friendly staff.

Good. Very pleasant inside. Went on a Monday night. So not the best night to assess atmosphere. But the beer and service were both good

Had some of the best food from here I can't recommend them enough excellent service from start to finish they make you feel very welcome aswell as great customer service will deffo be back and will recommend to friends and family

Lovely pub, attentive staff cleaned the table for us within 5 mins. Great selection of drinks too. Oh....& the toilets were clean and well maintained! First time we've been...will be going back.

We booked in at The Fox and Hounds as a place to meet family dinner due to it being a 'middle' spot to where we all live. We didn't know what to expect,but we were not disappointed. The staff are all friendly and really helpful. The food was delicious and 'homemade', which was clear from the quality. I would highly recommend visiting here, and we will definitely be returning.

We had the pleasure of celebrating my mums 80th birthday with a party here. The service and staff were excellent! Food superb and exceeded our expectation's. We would recommend the Fox & Hounds at Syston to anyone :-)

A first stay in the area so the Fox and Hounds was our first pub to choose,and I'm glad we did, it's a lovely looking pub inside, very relaxed and great food and service, will definitely go here again and recommend to others.

We had 10 meals nearly all different, incl Pizza, Omelette, Chicken Supreme, Steak and Mushrooms Pie, Burger, Calzone, Chicken & Chips, all meals excellent and all served hot. All meals very good portions.

Went for Sunday lunch, brilliant we had the turkey and both had starters my fiance had the prawn cocktail myself the mushrooms, omg they were divine. Definitely be back here. Local too to Thurmaston. No doubt be my local Sunday lunch now. We both enjoyed it immensely.

The staff are so friendly and the service has always been amazing. The selection of alcohol is also good. Had a couple meals here now, and I would say the food is subpar, I don't think the steaks are very good, often unevenly cooked or undercooked.

The food was very nice, however I would like to see more interesting choices rather than standard 'pub grub' dishes. I felt it was overly priced for what it was. The waitress that served us could not have been more pleasant and accommodating .

There cannot be a better Sunday Lunch in the East Midlands! The Fox & Hounds never fails to deliver. Top quality food made with fresh produce at a great price. In our group we had the Turkey & Beef roast. Special dietary requirements were met without issue. The portions were more than ample (As usual). Great family atmosphere & attentive staff guided by Matti & Sophie. superb selection of drinks. Just Great!

What a lovely, locals pub! The lunch was delicious and the friendly was super friendly. The parking is quite tight to get through the wall, however there is parking and a really well priced Sunday lunch.

Lovely local little pub with a warm feel! The Sunday lunch is hands down the best Sunday dinner I have had. Most Sundays we end up getting a takeaway one if we don't eat in, they also offer lamb which a lot of establishments don't.

Once again the Fox & Hounds showed why it is the best & most welcoming family pub In Charnwood. They looked after 3 generations in our large group with their hospitality, good humour & generous portions of their tasty food. Sophie & her team did a great job.Thank you. Thoroughly recommended.

Impromptu lunch time visit to the Fox and Hound in Syston was a very good choice. The lunch time menu / light bites had a good selection and reasonably priced (£5 - £11 each meal). Nice and quiet , just a few regulars present, which made for a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Very polite and helpful staff. Toilets were clean and well maintained. Lots of ales and lagers on tap to choose from and plenty of well place large TV for sporting enthusiasts. Ordered chicken goujons were made with real chicken (not processed) and chips were chunky and tasty. The poached egg, avacordo and bacon light bit was delicious and a good choice for a light lunchtime meal. Very delightful experience which prompted me to write this review. Will definitely visit again and recommend to others.

We went for a lunch there today, Saturday for the first time. We were pleasantly surprised at the layout and friendliness of the place and the lovely atmosphere created from the decor and areas of seating in alcoves around the restaurant. Then the food we had was wonderful, a local soup followed by a splendid cheese and meats board with lovely fresh bread followed by a Beef goulash which was divine and then what tasted like home made mince pies. Try their hot toddies and other beverages which were lovely. A great experience at a reasonable price. We will be going again.

Really good , was tired and frozen , great happy lady behind the bar took my order all was great , plus fast WiFi.

A great place to chill out with friends

Very welcoming friendly and clean pub - booked at short notice for Sunday lunch and enjoyed a very good meal, promptly served at a reasonable price. Highly recommended and will return.

Booked a table for 9 of us and the many different meals came out all at the same time and all cooked to perfection and all very good portions. By chance there was a duo appearing at 8.00 who were very good so we stayed til late. Staff were all so friendly. Would definitely recommend the Fox & Hounds.

My friend and myself went here for the pensioners meal. It used to be very good. We ordered a mushroom omelet. The plate was swimming in fat. We sent it back and they redid it. The fat was better the second time but the omelet was not fully cooked so we both left most of it. It was also very cold in there. I had to put my scarf around my shoulders. NOT comfortable at all. We will not be going in again.

Went for lunch today. Had omelette and chips and it was so greasy it was running off the plate. Been here a few times and it wasn't very good but thought we'd give it another go. Won't be going there again.

Decent little pub in the middle of Syston. Went there for a drink with some friends recently and had a decent time. Indoor and outdoor seating. Not too cramped either.

Well situated with friendly staff and a good local vibe. Would recommend if you're looking for a local pub or of you're just passing through.

Customers be aware no menus are given out to us and we found out why as they only serve roast dinners on a sunday, which is fine but there are no prices of their roast dinners or the prices of children's meals. So was a little bit shocked at our bill and you do have to wait a while for your food even though some customers had ordered their food while we were at the bar ordering drinks and had their food served to them and finished their meal before we received our order. It was an ok meal but would not be visiting again as it was a lot of money for just ok food

Fabulous concise menu, high quality nice ambience, this is the best for miles around right now. Good people good food. A great survivor and stand out in this area.

Very lovely chilled atmosphere pub inside much prefer the beer garden though since they upgraded and made more room its lovely. Food is really nice and drinks are delicious our gin came with berries so that was nice.

Lovely picturesque pub with a really warm cosy environment. Staff are absolutely great. Went for a traditional Sunday lunch and never looked back. There is an ample choice of meat. The Yorkshires are giant chef hats type and melt in the mouth. The meat was nice and moist. I have no qualms about anything on my plate from gravy to veg. It's the first time I managed to finish such a large plate and wanted more, but my stomach couldn't handle another mouthful.

Enjoyed a drink with friends. The table out was reserved and the bar staff was quick and efficient

Martin the landlord is a great guy, hoping next time I get a drink as the pub was in lockdown, and my visit was for business and not pleasure

Last weekend ordered two roast beef sunday lunches and two apple pies and custard. Picked up the food and took home. The roast beef lunches were delicious. The beef was beautiful with all the trimmings. It was all piping hot and the portions were big. Enjoyed every mouthful. The apple pie was to die for. Excellent service, excellent food and excellent value for money. Well done and Thank you all sunday lunch staff.

Great pub. Warm, friendly and atmospheric. Tend to have a game of Jenga or darts every now and again. Otherwise it's a catch up with a few friends every quarterly or so as they live local. Owners and bar staff are inviting and always have a smile on their faces. Loved playing Jenga with Martin the once (the owner), such a nice guy and great hearing about his life and times past. Definitely recommend. Just need to pop in and try the lunch as that also looks fabulous.

What a lovely little local pub. I took my parents here for my dads birthday lunch. What a surprise this place is. Lovely friendly greeting as we walked in. Great service and nice home cooked food not like those big chain pubs with their microwaved packet meals. Not too over priced. A really nice experience all in all. We will definitely be going back to eat in the future.

Nice establishment with well-suited di call and a small outside area for those of you the lights to smoking cigarettes and enjoy the sunshine staff are friendly however it does get busy on a Friday night Saturday night and Sunday night which may prove difficult to get into the bar as it was for me a few months ago I was waiting for 20 minutes before I was served however when it arrived the Strongbow was fantastic

Excellent home-cooked food at reasonable prices. Bespoke additions/exclusions seem to be welcome as I asked for changes to ingredients in my omelette and they did that without question. My wife had the homemade goulash, with homemade mash and veg, with complementary proper gravy on requests. We both loved the food and would highly recommend a visit. The staff are very friendly too, we felt they had excellent customer service and positive attitude. It might look like an innocent local pub from the outside, but inside it is an absolute gem. Very tasteful and relaxing.

Wonderful evening in this pub on 23 july for my daughter and partners when we called for a meal so exceptionally hot but solved by wonderful staff with a fan. Even bigger treat was the homemade meal well presented, so tasty home made gravy. Sweets were the same well presented & tasty overall price was excellent. Thank you wonderful staff and people try the steak and kidney pie you wont be disappointed . We will definitely return when we next visit our daughter.

Terrible experience despite what the reviews say! Four of us ordered Sunday lunch. Two were inedible. The meat was tough & unpleasant. There was a horrible underlying taste. I asked the waitress to take our plates away. I went to pay the bill and told the manager it was unpleasant & inedible. He would not let me speak & told me to “go back & eat where I normally eat”. I was so shocked. I said everything had an underlying taste which wasn’t nice. He said “I was probably used to Bisto & that they only use meat juices for the gravy”. To be honest I think Bisto would have done a much better job. He would not reduce the bill saying we had eaten three quarters of our meal before complaining. I had eaten one potato, a tiny bit of meat & a mouthful of Yorkshire pudding but due to the underlying taste I left the rest. He was the most awful & argumentative. I can not recommend anything about this establishment and do not order food. June 2019

We came to this pub because of the reviews but wish we had not. The service was very slow, there were gaps were 2 of us had food & 2 didn’t & when we got our food the meat was inedible. Chewy & fatty meat & a very unpleasant underlying taste. My partner & I left virtually all of our meal & my parents were unimpressed. Won’t be coming back here.

A "local" pub that does good food especially for lunch times. Can be a bit loud in the evenings but very relaxed during the day. Well worth considering.

I visited this establishment on Friday 11th of January for a leaving party and was impressed by the decor, service and range of food and beverages, and would have scored it higher but my wife is disabled and the pub is full of steps and isn't disabled friendly.
