What you see you get. Simple no frills cafe serving simple basic food - breakfast. Pleasent staff and excellent value. no cards taken. Clean and tidy.

Was walking around Chester and looking for somewhere to get a drink and a snack, came across this place, had tea and a small toasted tea cake which came £2.50, great value but was a little disappointed that they only take cash, there was a one stop across the road so wasn’t too much of a problem.

I love this place! Probably because I remember the old days of Pete & Norma. Still good to see it’s hardly changed & you can still have a huge fry up with a mug of tea! A proper old school caf!

Always love visiting this little cafe. Such a lovely bunch of hard working people running it with a smile and good attitudes. Who can go wrong with £4.50 for a full English, toast and a brew? Wish them every success. We will be back soon!

I go once a week to have a breakfast menu. Staff is very welcoming, the food is excellent for a very affordable price. I would definitely recommend

Veggie breakfast is as the meat version but minus the meat. No veggie sausage or similar. Just beans, hash browns mushrooms, one egg, tinned tomatoes and white toast. (Sorry no brown toast here). A surprise lack of consideration of vegetarians given the student population here.

This cafe is in the heart of student land in chester.its basic, but Staff are all friendly and the food is good. The chicken dinners for four quid are a bargain. I deffo recommend.

I am staying at BW for work and booked dinner at Hilltops on my first night. I was initially nervous that there didn't appear to be anything suitable for vegans on the menu, but I double checked with the receptionist, who was very helpful and communicated my request to the restaurant. This was a short-notice request, so I was not expecting much, but the chefs went above and beyond. The tofu & veg curry was really tasty, and the choc fudge cake was delicious. I couldn't eat it all in one sitting, but the team prepared the leftovers for me to take to my room and eat later. Thank you to the talented kitchen team and wonderful front of house team at Hilltops!

We were visiting the Anderton Boat Lift which is just 10 minutes down the towpath from The Moorings. As the coffee shop there was quite full after the boat trip we decided to try somewhere else close by. The Moorings is a little gem of a place, run by chefs, so expect hotel like presentation of excellent food, which is worth waiting for. This is a totally different dining experience from the usual canal side cafe. Dogs are allowed inside on the hard floor area, but we sat outside with ours as it was a beautiful day and we could admire the canal boats in the marina.
