Katie and I came here with a small family group for a spot of lunch in the sun. Great welcome, friendly staff and good food. Beer a bit expensive but there's a wide variety on offer. Overall a great afternoon and we'll return for sure.

Nice setting and interior, but food is vastly underwhelming. Chicken burger was the size of an avocado and not fresh, clearly used pre-cooked frozen ingredients. Additionally, tiny portion of chips! Barbeque sauce was certainly not Heinz haha! (; Lovely location let down by poor food ):

What was a really lovely pub has been spoiled. The Cabin was once a really comfortable, hospital local pub; it has now been ‘re-ordered’ in a tasteless manner. I know that might sound subjective, but there are no comfortable seats, all soft furnishings have been removed making it noisey and impossible to hold a conversation over drinks. Worst of all, all the Ale hand pumps have been removed, horrible.

My Wife and I visited the Cabin for lunch today (12/09/23). Steph had the fish & chips, I choose a 8oz sirloin steak with chips, onion rings, tomatoes, & peppercorn sauce. It arrived in good time & was very good. We could have been tempted by pudding, but none were available on this day. Oh well good for our waistlines. We will certainly return as was enjoyable meal. Thank you to the staff.

Went for Sunday lunch, asked for a mixed roast and told it would cost more. Fair enough if you got more meat. 1 slice of pork and 1 slice of chicken for £15.95. Yorkshire puddings cold and burnt. No serving spoons for veg. Had to go to bar to ask and then back again to ask for apple sauce and horseradish. Then again to ask for Bill and then again to ask to pay the bill. Sorry never again

The food here is excellent. We were here for a country and western music night which was great and thought we'd eat. The food was unbelievably good. We had calamari to start which was delicious - perfectly cooked - followed by spaghetti carbonara, chips and sticky toffee pudding and custard. All were superb. We can't wait to go back and try a roast. Not only is the pub great for food but landlady Shae and her team make everyone feel special and welcome. A great find. Totally recommend.

Arrived on a Friday night and only 2 people were eating. Was worried but those worries weren’t necessary as the food was very good. Unfortunately the ambience lets it down. Nice area to eat but needs separating properly. Sitting looking at the pool table with loud music from the bar (I like background music while I eat) is not conducive to an overall experience Shame as I say, you couldn’t fault the food

Tried the Cabin today for Sunday lunch but won’t be returning. We waited more than half an hour for our roasts and when it arrived it was served on a cold plate and the food was not that hot. The meat was ok ish the veg were practically cold. The puddings were sadly not that much better- chocolate brownie and bread and butter pudding were both cold . It was quite noisy in there and consequently conversation a bit tricky. The serving staff were however very friendly and doing their best . I feel that they are trying to be something they haven’t quite achieved yet.

Having read good reviews about the roast lunch here we decided to give it a try. Busy but didnt have to wait long. Plate arrived with meat, roast potatoes and parsnips and gravy, lovely veg shortly after. The plate was stone cold and the contents on it just warm. The separate bowl of veggies were lovely and hot. Believe me, tepid belly of pork is not nice. To me there is NO excuse for serving dinner on a cold plate. Should have complained but didn't.... wish we had but we were in a bit of a hurry. Won't be trying the roast again

Was looking forward to returning to the Cabin after the lockdown and subsequent refurbishment but sadly disappointed with the cold clinical decor. Very uninviting. Was turned away tonight as 2 people pushed past us to grab the last 2 seats in the bar area. Advised to sit outside during an in climate evening until 2 seats became available despite seating in the restaurant area being empty. Won’t be going back! I ate a few bites of a sandwich and then had a look at it and decided it wasn’t best not to eat any more as it looked undercooked. Sure enough got food poisoning. To top it off the customer service was literally nonexistent and there was no sense of hygiene whatsoever. Do not believe they use gloves or wash hands when preparing food and there was a woman coughing all over the till. Overall this was the worst experience I have had eating out... EVER. Shame on this pub, things like this are the the reason the English get mocked for their “cuisine” and lack of hygiene by every other civilised country in the world. Visited here whilst staying local. Shame we didn’t discover it sooner as I couldn’t fault the food. Visited with two children with the intention of playing a game of pool. The pub landlord at another pub (Elmer) decided mid week that children were not allowed after 9pm to play. First visit the children were made very welcome by staff and locals and they stayed until 10.30pm. On the next visit we had food and it was lovely. The lasagne was very tasty, the chilli cooked to perfection, plenty of ribs and a good portion of fish and chips. Compared to some places we had visited this was quality home cooked food at prices that are not extortionate. They also have a takeaway menu which we did not use but good to know.To me this is a local pub that welcomes those that are not local to the area. Thank you.

I popped into The Cabin during a visit to Elmer. It was a very warm day, so I just wanted a Coca-Cola with ice, a packet of crisps, and a nice sit down with a cigarette outside! I was not disappointed. The young barman was incredibly friendly and helpful, and indeed I was stunned by how many people said "Hello" to me. The Cabin is my sort of Pub. Relaxed and not pretentious, which tells me the owners know what they are doing. I hope to buy a property in the area, and I guarantee that I will return to The Cabin and sample their very appealing fish dishes! Thoroughly recommended!

We called ahead at 2pm and the kitchen was just closing. They kindly agreed to keep it open for us. Everyone was very friendly to us and our two dogs (strokes and a biscuit). Standard pub grub - a bit disappointed not much seafood (I had read an old review which said this was a speciality) although hubby had sliced local ham egg and chips which was as good as you would get anywhere. Early evening drink after walking dogs with friends. I found the inside a bit depressing; not very pubby at all. Perhaps Jane C needs to realise that when someone is barred for a genuine reason and comes in the pub and causes confrontation and conflict, wether it’s Mother’s Day or not the managers have to look after the clientele that appreciates what they are doing to improve and build up the customers in a lovely environment for the locals, I do believe she has a ulterior motive, all I can say is that Paul and Sam are great people that are fundraising for the R N L I regularly and a great job they are doing, My husband and I have been frequenting the pub since we moved to the area and the food and the ambience is fantastic.

My regular weekend pub. Good beers. Good prices. Good service. Hats off to landlord for adventurous fresh sea food menu. So surprised when I went for a pint of beer early on August Bank Holiday Monday evening. Grumpy elderly barman I'd not seen before. Glass needed topping up but I let it pass - but then I knocked it over when leaning over someone on bar stool to pick it up, leaving the size of a whisky shot in the bottom of the glass. Entirely my fault, of course, but grumpy barman just looked at me like something the cat had brought in and turned away. I didn't buy another pint, and just sat in pub reading the paper while sipping the remains.

I’d just like to say what an excellent evening we had at The Cabin, Elmer on Friday 24th February. It was a works party and proprietors Andy and Carol made us all feel most welcome. Andy did the cooking for 22 people; it was served efficiently by Carol and the waitress and the food was really tasty and generous portions too. There was a busy vibe in the bar when we arrived and later on we were entertained by a live band Soul Fire who played sweet funky soul music to keep the party atmosphere going. Malcolm behind the bar was most kind and attentive when serving our drinks, giving advice on their excellent selection of real ales and pouring generous glasses of white wine spritzer for my partner. Prices were very reasonable. If you want a good place to hold a party or just want a drink or a meal with perhaps some live music in the background, then The Cabin is the place to go!

The blackened mackerel was amazing. We didnt expect fantastic food, which goes to shows how much we are fooled by 'posh' surroundings. It is gourmet wholesome food on the specials menu.

The Cabin is one of three pubs I can walk to from home, its very freindly and supported by a regular local crowd particulaly around 4-6 pm after work. It has a well kept seller too.The manager has introduced a local fresh fish menu which is very good and the Sunday lunch is great value also

Mr Crow has been procrastinating over this review. Difficult to explain why it got 4* not 5, but please read on.

Visited following reading other reviews. Although we waited a time for our food to come out it was lovely. Service was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble.

I've eaten at the cabin many times and have never been disappointed. Their roasts on a Sunday are fab and the rest of the week (apart from Mondays) they have a full menu including an extensive fish choice. The fun does not stop here though as they have regular entertainment (bands or DJ's) on Friday and Saturday night.

Arrived late one lunch time not really expecting to get any good service or hot food but they were so accommodating and helpful we really felt welcome. The cheesy chips were out of this world!! Definitely best pub around and would recommend to everyone!

Great atmosphere fantastic food and friendly staff.watched this pub go from strength to strength. For the wedding they erected a marque outside for the smokers with arm chairs, they just seem to go that extra mile

My husband and I visited The Cabin this evening for a late Wedding Anniversary meal. Very pleasantly surprised with the friendliness of the owner, Andy, his wife Carol and the lovely Alice behind the bar. We were treated so well by everyone but, enough said, now to tell you about our meal! I ordered a Crab Salad and hubby ordered Crab Thermidor. The Cabin offers a good variety of fresh fish direct from the fishermen at Bognor Regis we were told and, although hubby wanted lobster, which is usually on the menu, this was unavailable today due to the weather conditions at sea. However, our eyes lit up when Alice brought our meals to the table. We thought we were just getting crab, but included on our plate were fresh prawns in their shells, cockles, a beautifully prepared crab and a lovely salad, together with brown bread and butter and salad dressings. Although the pub is not overdressed, it is honest, friendly, has a warm atmosphere, has lovely people in attendance and serves up delicious food. We both thoroughly recommend a visit.

My espresso was excellent, good balanced flavour with hints of chocolate on the after taste. Service was a bit slow but it was lunchtime on a Saturday.

Fabulous Location, Great Service, Amazing Wine List, AWFUL food choices for Vegans and Veggies. I live locally to the Landing Place and have been a number of times hoping the vegan / veggie food choices would have improved. Alas no.... The choices are without imigination and you can tell the ingredients are just put together on the plate rather than created on site. Very disappointing. I went Christmas Eve with my Husband last year and they had run out of options and all they could offer me was Falafels.. Really, Falafels.. I could have just gone to Sainsburys to buy those!!! Everything else is fabulous. So I would suggest to all Vegans and Veggies, eat before you go and just have a nice glass of something.

Incredibly poor customer service, owner was rude and made us feel very unwelcome in the shop. While waiting she was slagging off the previous customer to the other employee. I used to love the bagels here but I will not be returning now.

Super friendly and efficient staff - very busy at 11.15am but orders came out quickly and more importantly, correct!

Jim used to run the cafe in Middleton-on-Sea which is sorely missed, so we decided to see how he was getting on at no.72. - Very well with Sarah still there, and a nice lady called Caroline who was on trial for the day. I hope she stays because she wasn't nervous at all d served the perfect large mug of tea. Our lunches were perfect too. I chatted with other customers who were really friendly. Thanks Jim - so good to see you again xx
