Having visited many times over the last 10 years & never had a bad meal, we realised we hadn't been at all this year. So booked for Sunday lunch a table of 5. Fabulous - service was excellent, everyone at the table commented how good it was. Attentive, friendly & professional, the best experience we have had over the years going there. Sunday roast was a good size, beef was excellent & the chicken lovely. Good variety of vegetables, cooked well. Only slight criticism, didn't need boiled potatoes as well & the lemon meringue pie didn't taste as good as it looked. That being said, we were reminded how good it is here & will be back again soon.

We knew we would like this pub as soon as we walked in. The barman gave us such a welcome, told us where we could sit, what beer to try. Another lady on duty was also lovely, as well as the two ladies who served us breakfast. The 2nd lady knew I would have any yoghurt but strawberry and a small orange juice. Your staff are truly wonderful. Our room was at the front of the hotel, overlooking the pub garden and down into Burley itself. The room with no number, we wondered why, was it something spooky with all the witchcraft connections in the village? No, we did find out why, but I'm not telling! Our meals were really good - what a plate full. We recommend the pie of the day, sausages, and lasagne. Lovely pub grub. All served with a smile by Josh. The pub runs table service, which is a real treat and not something we've come across since Covid. Car park is always busy, because the pub is too. Lunches & dinners every day of the week and very popular. Alas no electric charging points for our car. Burley is ideally situated to visit lots of areas of interest, right in the National Park, but not far from the coast. Horses & cattle roam freely, plenty of horse dollops. Only a short walk & you're in open pasture. You can catch the open top tourist bus from Burley, and there are lots of little shops to browse round. We had a really lovely stay, and will be recommending this place to our family and friends.

Popped here for an evening whilst staying down the road. We chose this place because there were TWO Vegan and Gluten Free main menu options (very rare!) to choose from, plus a GF/VG pudding! We both enjoyed what we ordered and most of the staff were friendly, some of the younger ones couldn't serve us quick enough and almost ran away after putting our plates down. Fairly expensive but it is a tourist village so it wasn't surprising. Would return if in the area again.

Thoroughly recommend The Burley Inn. We initially called in during the week for dinner and were welcomed by friendly staff. But the food was so good we booked for Sunday lunch, which was equally delicious. On the first visit had pie of the day which was well filled and came a choice of potatoes and selection of vegetables. My wife had the braised beef in Guinness with mash and veg. Desert was Dorset apple cake and lemon meringue pie. Returning on Sunday we had the pork ribs with chips which fell of the bone in a BBQ sauce and the Lamb shank in minted gravy with vegetables and choice of potatoes. Desert was pudding of the day, syrup sponge and raspberry & white chocolate cheesecake. All of it was delicious and together with the friendly staff made a very pleasant experience.

Breakfast is cooked to order, using quality ingredients, and there is plenty of choice. I had always imagined this pub would be snooty and expensive. Nothing could be further from the truth. The staff were lovely and the food was excellent value. We had a Lamb Shank and Chicken Penang. Both were beautifully cooked and tasty. We followed with Spotted Dick and Lemon Meringue pie. All served with a smile. The pub is clean and nicely furnished. There is a huge outside dining area in the shelter of an enormous tree. It's also dog-friendly. We loved our visit and will be returning.

We were greeted by a friendly member of staff, who showed us to our room and upon entering it, it was oh, so, warm. The room was very clean and with the fresh bedding, the bath towels were huge! (Just as well for chubbo, here )First dinner of our 3 night stay, the spare ribs were excellent. Just a glaze on top, not smothered with sauce. Tasty.Dessert was the cherry cheesecake..... jeez, that was delish!Anyone wanting to gain weight, have the four layer chocolate cake with ice cream! I did... Uninspiring menu, but we were hopeful that it might still be good home cooked 'pub grub '. Sadly not. No better than a wetherspoons. Ploughmans with brie described as 'having a wedge of soft oozing brie' but was a sad looking plate of iceberg lettuce, a quartered tomato, a pickled onion cut in half, few slices of cucumber and a random couple of slices of radish and celery, a stone cold 'bake at home' style baguette and a solid wedge of the coldest & most flavourless piece of brie I've ever had. Gave up after a few slices of the rubbery wedge. Definitely not as described. Ham, egg & chips should be a fairly straight forward option. Chips & eggs were fine, but were served on top of 3 slivers of wafer thin packet ham. Other meals were of a similar standard. Happy to pay for decent quality, but sadly this was not.

When we arrived we asked for seating for 8 which we understood was a lot, young girl said no problem you can sit through there move chairs tables as you need, great we thought. So we moved 2 chairs to make 2 tables instead of 3., Making 2 tables of 4.I went to the bar which was absolutely crammed full of dirty glasses and asked do I order at the bar ? No it is table service someone will be over, so we sat and we waited and waited, the tables were very sticky, the wooden railing was thick with dust, but we were really hungry so looked past it.Then two other tables 8 people like us came in and sat down, the waitress went straight up with menus and took orders ! When she how to create a finished eyes excuse me but we were still 10 minutes before that day but we haven't even been seen and you've taken their orders, she came over and said sorry I didn't realise that you haven't been served she then asked us to move the table and chairs back and we explained that the young lady said we could sit two tables of 4 rather than 3 tables but she said no, so we moved it back, she said I will be back with the menus, we waited and waited she didn't return. At this point we decided to leave on the way out I found her and said don't worry about the menus we are fed up with waiting and are leaving, she apologized you was first greeted by a new member of staff that's why you were missed. That doesn't explain her not returning with the menu !On the way out I remarked that it was disgusting, this young girl heard me and shouted at me rude ! I was like excuse me, you are rude she said ! I said I wasn't talking about you personally I was talking about the service that would received been overlooked the sticky tables the pile-up glasses on the bar the whole atmosphere, she replied well that is us because we're the waitresses and I think you're extremely rude ! I said I wasn't rude I was being honest , I left to the young girl in a raised voice rude old woman !!! I don't consider my self old, but to this very young girl I probably was, I ran a hotel as a manager for 17 years so I know exactly what Iam talking about. Those glasses on the bar should have been trayed and moved out of sight, never move the blame onto another member of staff , when guests are already upset do not say to are going to do something and not follow through.Blaming it on a new member of staff, just shows a lack of training. After being shut for so long surly the need for income and profit is much needed and you let at least £80 at least walk out the door probably more like £160.00 .I will say it again a disgusting cleanliness of and service.

Quickly seated at a table and drinks order taken .20 minutes later the drinks arrived and we asked the waitress to take our order. She said she'd send someone over. After a further 30 minutes and 5 tables that arrived after us being asked for their food order before us, we finally managed to gain a waiter's attention. The order was placed. An hour later a ploughman's, a toasted sandwich , chips and a side order of mushrooms arrived. However on complaining at the delay both in ordering and recieving the meal and commenting that other tables who ordered later received their food before us, the waitress just said "oh sorry" . No real apology or explanation. As we were sitting outdoors it wasn't that warm, so by the time we had finished we were very cold. It then took 3 requests to different staff members before the bill arrived and that was only after asking again as we waited in the toilets queue. So if you are happy to wait for 2 hours for a snack, the food when it finally arrives is well prepared and tasty. Sadly we won't be back as customer service was so poor. Such a shame.

I had a lovely gammon (ham really) salad and added cheese which wasn't a problem , hubby had ham, egg and chips. If you appreciate pub grub this is the place for you. Reasonable price. Having pre-booked our evening visit to the restaurant (even though there was no real need) on Sunday 23.08.20, we were greeted by a young lady (I didn’t think to get her name at the time) who made us feel welcome the moment my family and I walked through the door. Not only was she pleasant throughout our stay, she actually gave my 16-year-old son some excellent advice regarding his imminent start at college the following week (she herself is currently on a ‘gap’ year from University). The whole evening became an enjoyable experience, as the food (succulent chicken breast for me, proper ‘home-made’ lasagne for my wife and a tasty bowl of Tikka Masala, rice and other accompaniments for my son) was excellent and well priced and the overall atmosphere was relaxing too. We all agreed we would gladly visit the Burley Inn again, should we return to the village.

Despite having had a decent pub lunch here a couple of years ago, some recent negative reviews deterred us from visiting for dinner on our current stay in the village. However, given the unusual current climate and everywhere being booked-up, we thought we’d give it a try and first of all were simply grateful they could offer us a table. On arrival, standard Covid measures appeared to be in place and the pub is nicely decorated in seemingly original old-style inn decor. We were shown to our table and promptly seen by the waitress who helpfully advised that while they didn’t have a children’s menu, our child could either order something simple that the chef could make or we could order a smaller portion of certain dishes. Drinks and food came in good time and our meals were perfectly fine for pub standard. Service was suitably attentive, especially given the additional measures they like all restaurants/pubs are needing work within. Can’t say we encountered any of the same sort of issues of the previous reviewers so they may have had a bad day/one-off but I’d urge you to give them a go. We should be doing all we can to support the trade in the current climate and give some slack to where they are doing their best to keep everyone safe by enforcing safety measures and working with reduced capacity/staffing/busier periods.

We have been coming to the New Forest for years and always come to the Burley Inn for food and we have never had a problem. Until now. We went on Monday (03/08/20) to be met by a very unpleasant (older) lady. If you’ve ever been to the Burley Inn, then you will know who I am referring too. Face like thunder. She wouldn’t let our bubble sit together so we had to be spread apart onto 4 different tables. God help you if you moved a chair! No social distancing by the staff. When we sat down, we were told someone would be out to take our order, we waited over an hour to finally get served and get our food. Which might I add was nothing to be desired. Do not get the ploughman’s. By the time it took us to get our food a couple who came in after us had eaten theirs and gone! Another family came in, a family of 5, who tried to sit at a table of 4 and went to move a chair. Well, the older lady came out all guns blazing, do not move the chair! She was so rude the family nearly left, until they let them have the chair. I wouldn’t mind, but not once did I see a single member of staff clean the table and chairs, not once!!! And as you know, we where there for a while WAITING! Forgot the mention, while we were waiting my mum went in to ask what was taking so long, and was met by an extremely rude, obnoxious girl (long brown hair) who also told my mum we should have booked a table if we wanted to be together. But the thing is, we did ring and was told we couldn’t book because we had a dog! And might I add, the girl also stroked my dog before turning around to see if anyone was watching her and said “I shouldn’t be doing this, I’ll get told off.” Unfortunately we will never go to Burley Inn again, which is a shame because like I said we have been going for years. I don’t know what has changed but it is for the worse. Unpleasant staff and bland food. I would highly recommend that they send their staff on a training course for customer service because my God they certainly need it! Shocking.

This is a interesting venue, in the heart of the village of Burley, but something is missing? Maybe I caught them on a down day, but the staff seemed slightly detached and uninterested, not rude or ignorant, just slightly caught up in their own thoughts.Plenty of seating both inside and out, lots of pictures on the walls of local and historical scenes. Wood burning stoves, free WiFi, free car park, decent (if over priced) menu, prices for drinks are north of average, but this is The New Forest after all. This review was on a visit on a dull, wet and windy day in January. I expect that a visit in high summer, with the sun shining, would have a totally different feel?

This place looked fabulous in the evening when we drove through Burley and we said we had to come back to this place. Unfortunately, the food was awful. Not even an average pub food. Fish and chips is a trap as it's called Haddock fillet and you get a fillet from Iceland. Everything looked as from defrosted packets. Very disappointing for this superb location they have. The Burley Inn should step up their food game. On the positive note the staff was really friendly. The pub we went to in the middle of the forest locally had waay much better food. We stayed in Burley and ate here twice. I was pleased to see two really good vegan options on the menu - a pie and a curry. Both were delicious, though a bit light on protein. My husband enjoyed his more conventional dishes and our dog was welcomed and looked-after. The wine list was decent and the wines we had were very good.

My friend and I visit Burley often and always go to the Burley Inn for lunch, excellent food, beautifully prepared. Excellent staff. helpful beyond words. My friend has intolerance and had the Gluten free cake with cream, seventh heaven. Always a pleasure to eat here.

Early evening on a Saturday.Dod enjoy the ploughmans and the price was fair, just seemed a little bit basic and old fashioned although the portion was generous,I would go back as service excellent and staff friendly

Lucy, Jack and Clayton made us feel very welcome and we were delighted that their menu caters so well for Gluten Free and Vegetarians. We recommend the Thai Red Curry and the Veg Pie with Gluten Free Pastry. It's annoying being diagnosed as Gluten Intolerant as you feel like a nuisance in some restaurants but not here, their menu offers a wide selection of options events Sticky Toffee Pudding was GF recommend this pub and would visit again.

We passed this pub previously and looked really busy which to me is always potentially a good sign.

Whilst staying in the delightful village of Burley we ventured to the Inn twice, first on arrival and then as our last supper.

On approaching the village and entering the packed pub car park, we were encouraged but after our disappointing experience have to conclude they were not customers of pub!

My girlfriend and i came here during a walking holiday - the staff were super friendly and kind!!! They let us keep our bags in the inn whilst we hiked, despite us not staying there, and were so attentive to us when we were having our meal.

Excellent steak and lasagna. Interesting dining guests with scabby chickens roaming around, made a change from ponies!

Nothing was fresh in my view and came straight from the freezer. just not good enough in my opinion when you eating pub grub in an average place but paying a premium price. Service was ok. Small car park - difficult to find a space.

Had lunch here a couple of weeks ago and what a very pleasant experience it was too. The waiting staff were very efficient, interacted extremely well with us and were attentive. We didn't have to wait long for our meals to arrive, it was all well presented, the portions were a good size and we all agreed it tasted delicious. Thank you kitchen staff, it is not easy to produce good plates of food under pressure in a hot kitchen.

We stayed at the Burley Inn before for 2 nights before in February. The accommodation and pub itself is lovely but once again consistently let down by the poor quality food as we experienced before at breakfast 3 months ago. This time me and my partner ordered 2 cream teas as we were staying somewhere else and just popped in for tea. The tea was nice but simply not hot enough. The scones were not as good as last time. Something cheap probably bought from a cash and carry and were not heated. Thoroughly disappointed. I did mention this when I went to pay, no refund or partial refund offered or even another cream tea. Will not ever eat here ever again.

We visited this pub twice on successive days, once for an evening meal and once lunchtime. Very good food and attentive staff. If passing by lunchtime I would thoroughly recommend their brie bagette. Dog friendly and we were able to reserve a table for our evening meal.

Came for a family day out on good Friday, and ordered lunch when it came we were impressed with the size. But slowly, slowly eating our way through we found a hair in our food and complete put us of , they offered to change it, and we felt happy. So we carried on eating low and behold we find another hair, without being rude it looked like public hair, so we were completely put off and definitely wouldn’t eat here again!!!

We only popped into this impressive looking pub for a drink late afternoon and the service was good, however, the pub was virtually empty (in fact only one other customer plus dog seen) so unable to get a feel of what it is really like. Unable to comment on accommodation or food.

Booked this place never eaten here before. Not disappointed, very busy so always book. Had a selection of mains everyone very happy with there choice.good portions and quick service. I would suggest it's not a drinking pub, unless you sit outside, all the tables were set for eating. But well worth a visit if you want decent food in Burley

Nice enough stop off for a drink after walking all day. The conservatory area and bar are pleasant enough. Menu looked ok although we went elsewhere to eat. Didn't appreciate the little bit of attitude when ordering but suspect that was a blip.

Same staff attitude as the Queens Head - rude - tables in the dog area full of people without dogs. Told that no dogs are allowed on the carpet area. Asked if we could sit on a table by the entrance and the lady made it quite clear that we weren't welcome and so we left. Dread to think what this place is like on a nice sunny day!

We visited The Burley Inn for dinner. I would recommend booking as there were many tables reserved on the Saturday evening we visited. Staff were kind and attentive and the food well priced. As well as the large menu there were a number of appetizing specials on offer too.

Five of us met here for dinner before the Burley Players’ pantomime. We were given three menus which was a bit confusing: their Snacks and Pub Classics Menu, Set Menu of 2/3 courses and Main Menu as well as their Specials Board! I chose Breaded Plaice with Chips. Others had Breaded Haddock Fillets, Salmon en Croute and Mushroom, Peppered Pork and Squash and Spinach Pie. All were good, as was the service. I’ll happily return.

Visited on Friday 28th December for a post Christmas lunch with family. Pre-booked. Been to the Burley Inn quite a few timed before and go there as it has a real "new forest" feel to it. As usual there was a good choice on the menu - in fact it was really hard to chose, and one of the beers was a Christmas one which was nice. Enjoyed a very nice lunch soaking in the atmosphere. Look forward to next time.

Room was very very comfortable with a soft bed. The dog was very welcome too. Stayed for dinner on new years eve also. The chicken curry balti was lovely, and the chicken tarragon was delicious too. Breakfast was great, yogurt, fruit, cereal, juices, tea, coffee, and full English of eggs, sausage, bacon, mushroom and tomato. What really made our break great was Marina and Lucy, and the lad behind the bar who served our dinner (didn't get his name)

Called in for lunch after a stroll in the forest. Really friendly staff and great range of choice on the menu. Was a bit of a long wait between ordering and eating - a bit too long really but food was hot and fresh when it arrived. Even the small appetite portions are generous. No complaints on the meal.
