A fantastic place to eat. Warm and friendly atmosphere. We ordered 2 fillet steaks and they melted in your mouth we followed Andrew the chefs recommendation on how it should be cooked. Our son had the Tomahawk it was amazing !!! Definitely be back x

The food was lovely if quite expensive for what it is, although much depends on the type of steak and the size of the cut. The service was good too and the place was nice and clean and a lot more spacious and nice than what you would think by looking at the entrance, but it could do with a refurbish to make it sound proof from the above night club and tidy up the decor.

From the outside it looks like just any other eatery in a holiday town and we have walked past this place too many times to count without actually going in. Needless to say we are kicking ourselves that we didn't try it sooner!! The premise: head to the meat counter to select your steak, then choose the size/weight of your cut. It was without a doubt the best steak we've had (we had the fillet and ribeye) If you like your steak, you HAVE to go. It isn't cheap, but it's worth every penny for a perfectly cooked steak!

Lovely experience, with picking how many oz of meat you want and picking out the thickness of the steak. The quality of the meat is amazing, our steaks both came a little overdone - but it wasn’t an issue as they still tasted amazing so no need to send back. The Garlic sauce is okay - not the best but still good, chips were really nice as well. The portion sizes are good, a steak comes with onion rings and chips so it’s great value for money. The onion rings were a little over done, but for me that’s how I prefer them. The atmosphere was good, it was quiet as we went out of season and they had reggae playing in the back - so it was a nice calm setting. There wasn’t a massive selection of spirits - just the basics but they had a good wine menu. Customer service was 10/10 and the family that run it are lovely, would recommend.

We dropped in to check out a possible restaurant for dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the very friendly and knowledgeable staff, the attention to detail, and of course most importantly, absolutely delicious sirloin steaks, grilled to perfection. To be honest, the decor isn’t great. The restaurant looks like a cheap and cheerful, very ordinary place, which it definitely isn’t. This is a seriously good restaurant for both dedicated carnivores and flexitarians looking for the occasional splurge on carefully selected and well prepared meat. I will definitely go again very soon.

Lovely restaurant with a top notch choice of steak cuts! You walk to the counter and choose your own cut/weight of meat and pay there and then. This is a great idea and gets you thinking about what you actually want. The staff were very attentive and friendly, we arrived just after 9pm and was worried about being served as we'd been turned away at 3 restaurants before. They were more than happy to serve us and made us feel welcomed straight away. As we walked out the chef shook my hand and asked if we enjoyed the meal... You don't get that often! We'd highly recommend this gem of a restaurant

Atmosphere great, service is average on this particular Tuesday evening, maybe a tad too long wait but that could be down to it even moderately busy. They have a good point of sales, Authentic steak selecting counter of which I’ve never experienced previously. You pick your cut of bovine and you see the genuine NET weight in front of your eyes, a different approach to your usual steakhouse. Bring your own Beer if you wish also, that’s a good P.O.S, Steaks can be abit on the dear side but seem good quality all the same. (Pre taste) Some things I would change; the choice of salt. When purchasing a £35, 10 oz steak I would like to see good quality salt on the table. Preferably a local ‘artisian’ sea salt in an open pot. I would scratch the current table salt in packets you would find at the local cafe, immediately. If you’re paying good money, which the surroundings of this steak house do reflect. You want to stand out with the little things… scratch the sauce packets. ‘Organised chaos’ sums up the waiting experience if I’m honest. Steak was cooked as requested (rare) and was true to that request. Cut of meat tasted as good as it looked. I would offer more sauces than the current two, I opted for Garlic based sauce. It was great and more ish. I would love to see a Dian sauce or my favourite… chimchurri Maybe some seasoning on the steak? At least the good sea salt as suggested above. I wasn’t amazed as I thought I would have been. The steak was alright if I was paying £22- £25 for the dish. But at £35 all in, I did expect that bit of an extra mile. Especially when they offer steaks at £60+ This review was a mix of ideas and comments from the 3 who ate. 3 star from us on this particular occasion R-G-V

ABSOLUTELY 💯% SPOT ON, we cane here for our final meal in Newquay and we was not disappointed, food was absolutely delicious, hidden gem as the restaurant looks so small from the front but its a big restaurant inside with great taste in decor, the staff are lovely and go out their way to make sure everything is great.we,ll defoe back ! x

The best steak I have ever had. You get to pick the meat amd weight before it's cooked to however you want it. I had the fillet steak and he cut it in front of me. Weighed it out and then OMG. Comes standard with chips, peas, onion rings and a tomato. We opted for the peppercorn sauce however they let us try the garlic one without charging us. We would recommend everyone who likes steak to go here.

This restaurant cooks succulent steaks that just make your taste buds sing! We are tourists from NZ and have tried a few disappointing steaks since we arrived so that means that these steaks are the best in the UK in our experience. The staff are awesome, the chef selected the meat for us and the restaurant is full of atmosphere. You must try this for yourself to see if this description is accurate!

I love this place! A little gem of a steak restaurant. If you are a fan of beef this place is for you. You choose your own cut, the quality of the beef is high grade. I have eaten steak all over 2 continents and this is one of the best places to dine for steak! Me and my family, wife and 3 teenagers all cleaned their plates. Compliments to the chef and staff. ❤️

What can I say! It’s the best fillet steak we have had ever! Fantastic concept, great friendly service and my only regret is I didn’t go there more while in Newquay.

We arrived here on our last night, unfortunately I was left feeling disappointed. The understanding is you go to the meat counter and pick your slice of meat which is what we did. I asked for two 8oz steaks which I was told I need to guess the cut of the steak. Surely if they do this day in day out they would be able to cut an 8oz steak? Obviously not, as they cut my partner steak 3oz over. This may seem petty but when paying per oz and wanting a correct cut for what you’ve asked for you should receive it. It all felt like a conning scheme into spending more money with them as unless you’re a butcher you won’t know the correct cutting for the oz you want. The meal overall was okay but not worth the price IMO. The chips were lovely but the peppercorn sauce was too peppery and the steak was more medium well than medium rare which is what we asked for but still a soft piece of meat. I would not recommend if you have a budget you want to stick too in mind.

We visited this steakhouse with family, we had two T-bones, 3 fillets and a rump steak. All of the steaks were delicious, the meat was so tender and came with all of the trimmings which were all delicious. The best steaks we had ever had and we will definitely be returning. The customer service and atmosphere was lovely too. and all of our needs were catered to.

to say we were dissapoited is an undestatement 2 16oz tbones nothing else bill was£138.00. one steak was ok the other one was nothing but fat and gristle and was inedible would not recomend this place to anybody my advice stay well clear.

Me and a big group of lads when out for a lovely steak filled dinner here. The general consensus was that the steak was one of the best we've had. The only downside to the meal was the peas, they were grey in colour and hard as bullets. However don't let the scare you away because the chips and onion rings were smashing.

We found this place about 5yrs ago , haven't managed to get here for a while , ate tonight was amazing, we had rib eye and rump , cooked to perfection 😍, family run and very friendly, we hope your business keeps on thriving and see you next time we are in newquay x

Absolutely out of this world. I ordered 2 ribeye steaks and it was cut fresh in front of me and then not long after was served and I have to say it was the best steak I have ever had. Excellent friendly staff and would highly recommend the bull to everybody.

Dined here on a Saturday night recently in a party of 4, plus our dog joined us as well. Me and my partner shared a Tomahawk, and the other guests had a ribeye and a sirloin. The staff were all extremely helpful and knowledgeable and the steak, we all agreed, was up there with the best any of us had ever tasted. My dog was also treated to some off cuts which was very kind too. We're planning on visiting Newquay again next year and will definitely be going back to the Bull when we do.

Amazing place! It’s family run, the staff are so friendly and helpful. We went to the meat fridge and chose our own meat, we chose the size we wanted and you pay for the size of steak that you have. There’s all different cuts and types of meat. We had fillet, tomahawk and our little one had lamb. We loved it! They gave us plenty of time to eat and the soft drinks selection and deserts were really nice too. Can’t wait to come back. I highly recommend this lovely restaurant if you love a good quality steak and lovely staff x

Lovely place with lovely food and very lovely people! The atmosphere of the restaurant feels great, especially with them encouraging you to bring your own alcohol. They were very confident in their ability to cook their steaks and their overconfidence was very much justified, they delivered a very delicious tomohawk and rump steak to our table which we very much enjoyed dining in to. The steaks are priced by weight and so prices can vary depending on your needs and price range but whichever cut of steak you go for will be cooked to absolute perfection with their blend of secret herbs and spices to further enhance the flavour. Me and my partner were only down in Newquay for a week and although our time here was short, we will definitely be paying another visit on our next trip here.

Fantastic steaks, each cut to your preferences and cooked just how you want. We had a selection of mostly fillet steak but also tomahawk, all cooked perfectly, with the accompanying chips, onion rings, peas and tomato, a great dinner was had by all. Staff were very welcoming and made sure everything was as we requested. If you like steak, I would not hesitate to recommend, hope to visit again.

We visited this restaurant over the weekend on our visit to Newquay and it didn't disappoint us. It was the second time we tried this place after our visit from three years ago and we must say that the quality of the meat was still there or even better. If you are looking for a great quality local sourced & aged meat, this is your place. We ordered medium-rear rib eye and rump stakes and they were cooked to perfection. The taste of the meat was one of the best that you can find anywhere in the entire South West. Next time we visit the area, we will come back for sure. Keep it up guys!

We walked passed the bull steakhouse one evening and we politely said maybe to a young blond lady . we were just looking around and decided to go else were ..but that evening we got back to the hotel we were staying with and we looked up the steak house and we found it had great reviews and we decided to go back the following evening…. we was introduced to the young lady again and we was introduced to the chiefs of the restaurant that ask us how we like our steaks and what part of the beef we needed we asked about what steak 🥩 and how we wanted it , they expertly cooked it ..we live over 250 ish miles away and would definitely go back again without hesitation Robin, Sarah xx

One of the best streaks I've had.

From start to finish our experience at the bull was amazing. We advised them in advance it was my mothers 60th birthday celebrations and asked if we could bring a cake, which they were more than happy to oblige with! To our surprise when we got there they had a lovely set up with birthday banners and balloons. You guys made my mum feel a million dollars! The steak was absolutely stunning I can honestly say I’ve never had better. I normally have ribeye rare and chef managed to make even the fat melt in the mouth! Bring your own bottle was also very fun and novelty! The steak wasn’t the cheapest around but honestly worth every penney! Such an amazing dinner for a wonderful occasion. Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff, very worth a trip!

Wow, just wow. I've had steak in some of the top restaurants in the country but this place has seriously blown them away. They serve by the ounce and every ounce is top quality, you can tell from the first slice you are about to eat something special and it really didn't disappoint. Cooked exactly as asked, it slices like butter and absolutely melts in the mouth. We chose the peppercorn sauce and again, by far the best we've ever had. Chips were a good portion, chunky but crispy and the peas and tomatoes were a nice accompaniment. The star of the plate was obviously the big lump of steak, but I've got to give a shout out to the onion rings. I've never had anything like them. If you like onion rings, order the extra portion because I regret not doing so! Would happily eat them by the bucket load. Value for money? Oh absolutely without a doubt. I live 130 miles from this place and I'll be totally honest, I would drive here just to eat this all again. It really is that good. The food has left us that happy I nearly forgot to add something - the service. Greeted as soon as we walked in, we recieved the most amazing service. Very attentive, professional and made to feel valued from start to finish. Will definitely be repeat customers.

The best steak I’ve ever had in my life. It was birthday and we stumbled across it after the other restaurant kitchens were closed. Hillary was our waitress and she was super sweet. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the chips were so good! It’s ruined other steaks for us.

Stumbled across this gem last night. We got seated straight away. You pick what you want steak wise. Tell the chef and he cuts you one off the piece. Simple concept. What's not simple is choosing the best cuts of meat and cooking it to perfection and both of those were accomplished with ease Melt in the mouth steak, well cooked chips, onion rings etc and a purely hearty tasteful pepper sauce. Walk past and you will regret it

Came across by accident. Wow lovely meal not cheap depending on the weight of the meat. So you choose your steak, he weighs it according to what you ask for and cooks according to perfection. It comes with chips etc. Sauces extra Would I recommend, absolutely I would it was beautiful. No licensed bar but you can buy across the street and bring in which works out cheap, no corkage. We had 1 X rump with pepper sauce 1 X ribeye with pepper sauce Approx 60 but it was well worth it. Give it a try

We've always struggled finding good food in Newquay. With both our go to restaurants being closed we got a taxi to drop us in near the cinema. After a shirt walk we noticed The Bull. Popped in to have a look and was greeted by a polite lad who advised that they don't sell alcohol but we are welcome to bring our own. So we popped across the road for some drinks and was swiftly seated. On choosing your preferred steak dish you simply go to the till area and advise what size you would like and how you want it cooked. We had two of the best fillets we have ever had. The service, food and prices were so great, we just had to leave a tip. Definitely added this place to our list of good eateries in Newquay

Really fancied a steak so we popped into the Bull Restaurant. We weren’t disappointed! The place doesn’t sell alcohol but they invite you to bring your own alcohol and there is a Londis directly opposite which is fine. No charge for corkage either which I thought was extremely generous. Your steak is cut in front of you and is sold by the ounce with a minimum order of 8oz. We both chose fillet and asked for medium cooking. It was melt in the mouth perfect. The chips were well cooked, the onion rings were delicious and the peppercorn sauce was delicious. Service was good and we did leave a tip. The only slight downside was I had to move seats as the lights in the kitchen are so blinding I couldn’t see and they were irritating me but simply moving to the other side of the table sorted that! Well worth a visit if steak is your thing. I’ve paid a lot more for similar experiences!

Fabulous food one of the best steaks I have eaten. Clean relax atmosphere made us very welcome. Never been to a steak restaurant where you choose your cut of meat before you order. Will definitely recommend and will return.

Phoned up to see if we need to book a table and the owner told us not to bother because we could just turn up so we did and wasn't at all disappointed the chef even helped my lovely lady up the steps which doesn't happened alot bless him and they have an great choice of stakes available the hostess was very nice and polite and the service was 1st class the food was cooked to perfection which also came with chunky chips peas onion rings and grilled tomatoes with the steak I know some places you have to order this as extras but if ever your in Newquay center I would advise you try it out I don't think you will be disappointed.

We picked our own meats and they cooked them exactly as we asked for. The food was outstanding, the service was attentive without being overbearing. The staff are so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The sticky toffee pudding was to die for. We can't wait to return for our next excellent meal. My son had 12oz and ordered medium rare and although he said it was amazing and still really good the middle of it was a bit more rare than he usually liked. But he did enjoy it all regardless. We all had 11oz/12oz steaks and the chicken is it's standard size. For what we had and how much we enjoyed it the value for money (approx £30 a head) was amazing! We will definitely be back when on our holibobs again!

We visited on Tuesday evening during our trip to Cornwall and this place exceeded our expectations. We both had the fillet steak which was amazing and cooked perfectly! Not many places cook a true blue steak but this was spot on! Adds to the experience of being able to go up and see the meat whilst they cut and weigh in front of you. You definitely get what you pay for! Would highly recommend!!

The sides were also delicious. Simple menu. No starters. Just very good quality steak cooked to perfection. Service was lovely too.

Family group of seven, mix up over booking which the staff quickly resolved. The steaks were really good, cut to size as I ordered. My young niece had a chicken breast child’s meal and said it was the best she had ever had.

Awful place to eat. I don’t know what these reviews are about, they must be fake. 20+ of us went here. I was charged £62 for my 1 course meal and told by the owner it was going to be the best steak I’ve had. It was one of the worst. I chose fillet, you supposedly choose your own cut, none of us got what we chose. There was so much fat on the fillet. I’ve had better £10 meals in the Harvester. Awful, especially for what it cost.

The steaks were great only problem was the blue steak which was only seared on one side. T Bone was amazing. To take to next level would to marinate the stral olive oil and Rosemary.

Enjoyed a delicious steak with fries, crunchy onion rings, peas and half a tomato. Asked for it medium well and it came out perfectly. Peas were a little overcooked (had lost that bright green colour). It's a BYOB site for those who drink alcohol - for us they had a good selection of soft drinks. The service was delivered in a friendly manner. Only downside was the loud reggae music which isn't really for us. Otherwise we had a wonderful night. P.S. this is a dog-friendly site.
