The Longstore Steaks & Seafood in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Me and a friend went here for dinner recently. The starters were very nice. We got the spicy beef and beef croquettes. My main (pork belly) was nice, maybe not as good as the previous times I’ve dined at the Longstore, but still nice. My friend was very disappointed with the Longstore Burger and from seeing the other tables ordering the burger, they didn’t look great. Don’t order the burgers, they are very average, not very big and are not as good as the other options. I felt bad as I’d spent only £6 more for a meal which was visibly higher quality, clearly was worth the money, clearly had effort put into making it. My friend said he’d had burgers of the same quality from a Wetherspoons. The cocktails. I once had a melon Margarita here. It was very tasty but it was on the small side. But it was delicious. This time however, I ordered a King Kong. This cocktail was £13. The cocktail tasted like ginger ale and fireball. It tasted fine, not interesting or exciting. The ice cube in the drink was 4 inches long, meant to be a sky scrapper. When lifted out of the tall glass it revealed the drink only filled up just about 1/3 of the glass. So a tiny amount of alcohol and a small amount of fizzy mixer, for £13. Was quite irked by this but didn’t complain as I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it and I just wanted to enjoy our time out. Don’t order the cocktails. They simply aren’t worth the price. The deserts were pretty good, can’t complain. Left this place feeling like they ripped me off for £13. The service was fantastic and the waiting staff were very friendly.

Food is very good, if a bit pricey. Service is good. Atmosphere can be VERY noisy when busy.

Absolutely incredible food, service and atmosphere. The Menu has something for everyone. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable and happy, nothing was too much trouble. We had our starter (scallops) off the specials menu, beautifully cooked and presented. I had the lamb for main, literally every mouthful was divine. Managed to squeeze in a desert, just, oh wow. Thank you to all the staff for an amazing evening, especially the unsung heros in the kitchen. Keep doing your magic, it clearly works, well done.

Food was overpriced and not worth the money. My husband ordered muscles for his starter, they came so tiny you could hardly taste them, also most of them were empty!! Food did not arrive all together, sides were late also my pepper corn sauce was late way after my steak had arrived. I asked for a nice seat as it was a special occasion. We probably had the worst seat in the house as it was by the door!! Overall not a pleasant experience not at all worth the money!!

Always been really impressed with the food and service at The Longstore. It's also just a lovely place to sit! Always near the top of our list when deciding where to eat.

Visited with my partner and her mother. We went fairly early for dinner, the venue was busy and by the time we left at about 2000, every table was occupied. Services was slick, FoH well staffed, helpful and cheerful. Food came in good time. We all had steaks, me and the Frau shared a chateaubriand, her mother had a sirloin. Steaks well seasoned and cooked to our liking. We had creamed spinach and warm greens. They were ok, chef perhaps needs to drain the spinach after cooking admit was rather wet and slightly insipid. The greens were OK, but again slightly uninspiring. But overall, the food was great. Price wise, I’m used to London prices so I thought it was very good value for money. I’d go back. Definitely worth a visit if you like your beef…..

Would highly recommend this place! The food I had here was so nice I was gutted when it was all gone. The restaurant itself is also nice, it has a nice warm atmosphere. This restaurant is one that I will never forget. Would definitely return if I am ever in the area again

I had the scallops, mussels and chocolate ice cream for dessert and every bite and scoop were a delight.

We had a lovely evening meal here. Steaks, burgers or seafood all very well prepared. The staff were attentive at just the right level. Slightly more expensive than the local competition but slightly better all round experience.

Had a lovely light lunch with great service and chill atmosphere. The food was amazing, both in terms of taste and presentation and the prices were very reasonable. Had the best coffee I’ve tasted in the UK in the last 4 weeks. We will be back.

Amazing meal. As a vegan it would have been nice to see more choices but that's Cornwall for you.

Really enjoyable meal and experience

Food here is first rate, absolutely delicious and well presented. Service was relaxed but efficient, beautiful decor and spacious. Lovely views too. Highly recommended.

Quite slow service unfortunately. Large wait for food to come out the kitchen, even with a relatively unbusy dining room. Food had great flavours, however our steaks were not cooked to the correct temperatures- medium rares as rare, and a medium as medium rare. Bit of a shame.

Part of this building is a coffee bar called Short&Strong. They seem to be a satellite of the restaurant, sharing/using the same kitchen. Anyway, the coffee was very good, as was the breakfast brunch and service. Worth a stop if you are not after a three course meal and a bottle of wine!

Food was wonderful but we were all ill from it. We visited got my mother in law birthday (Christmas eve) and although we were surprised there was live music, there was also music over the restraunts speakers which was way too loud. Although they were quick to brings my toddlers food out, we waited a long time for ours. Then slow service afterwards.. It made our mind up to not order any pudding as it was way too long and my toddler was getting irritated. 2 hours in total which is a long time for him to sit still in his high chair. We had early lunch time and they weren't fully booked otherwise I would understand the long wait time.

Nice buzzy restaurant. Charming modern decor. Good food selection and creative cocktail menu. Attentive, friendly staff. The food was modern, fresh and delicious.

Every time I’m in the area, this is my go to place to eat. food is amazing menus very varied. The staff are fantastic really make you feel welcome every time I go there. Great drinks. The cocktails are superb highly recommend it in fact I can’t really recommend it enough. Can’t wait for my next visit.

Went fot a meal with friends, food was amazing . Waitress was great ,and lovely atmosphere in restaurant, would recommend. We'll be back soon . Only thing was we gas to leave our table as a big party was coming in . Could have stayed longer .

The food was excellent, they had an electrical problem, and the deserts were a long time coming. My 4 year old neice had to wait 25 minutes for an ice cream!!! They did, however, take the deserts off the bill,

Took our daughter and her boyfriend for a birthday celebration. We all had different starters and main meals and we were all very pleased with the service, presentation and quality of our food. If we have a celebration this is always one of our first ports of call and to date we have never been disappointed.

Had a fantastic meal here for my partners birthday. Service and food was exceptional. Steak was incredibly tasty. We both had the fillet steak. The chips and mac and cheese were also perfect. Atmosphere was great we were lucky to have a window seat with beautiful views. Overall thought it was well priced for the quality of the food and service. Will 100% come back to this place. Thanks!

Amazing evening - food and service was brilliant. Made our anniversary night perfect, with a complimentary glass of Prosecco. I had the sirloin steak and my partner had the jackfruit burger. Good selection of drinks too. Definitely coming back!

This is one very few full 5 star reviews for any restaurant - however this place was perfect. Great staff, food and atmosphere. We went for a special occasion and it compels tell enhanced the occasion. I cannot rave about it enough. Keep up the fantastic work!! We will be back as soon as we are in Cornwall!

I had the roast beef Sunday dinner. I was blown away with all the flavours hitting my taste buds. The roast beef melted in my mouth, the potatoes were perfect and the vegetables had a slight crunch. Dessert finished off the perfect Sunday lunch (Pineapple and coconut sponge with caramel ice cream.)

Lovely local food. Expensive but get what you pay for.

Absolutely fantastic meal. Steaks were amazing, cocktails delicious and the desserts were wonderful. Waitress we had was superb.

Very nice restaurant, attentive service with a good atmosphere. The food was fresh, tasty and portion size was good. Fish was exceptionally fresh, the steak was slightly over for medium rare but nonetheless very nice indeed. The standout dish for most of our party was the pork belly spare ribs which were big and fall apart tender that they hardly required chewing 😀 Certainly worth a visit if you’re in Charlestown.

Bit pricey but the steaks are to die for, we had the chateau briand to share. It was the best steak I have ever eaten beating even those I have had in South Africa. The views from the covered balcony across the harbour made for a very pleasant setting for our anniversary.

Had a couple of starters in the bar and a few drinks. The service really stood out - Katie was brilliant & couldn’t be more hospitable. Recommend 😊

Cannot recommend this restaurant experience enough. From the moment we were greeted at the door right though to paying the bill. The staff are super friendly and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The food was some of the finest we’ve ever experienced, highly recommend the muscles! Pricing was so fair for the absolute quality of food. If we could give 10 stars we would. Will be visiting again before we leave Cornwall :) thank you so much guys!

Waited more than 40 mins between starter and main for mediocre steak and their special menu - seabass fish - that wasn’t fresh. Felt that it’s overpriced and not worth the wait.

Yum! We are visiting the area and ate here 2 times in 24 hours. The appetizer sticky crispy beef with wasabi sauce is out of this world, under the salad area the sticky crispy beef with chili sauce and wasabi sauce AMAZING! The Longshore burger was also delicious. Ribs fell off the bone yum!! If we weren’t leaving we’d eat here again!!!

Part of the experience of eating out is the service. This is something that the Longstore lacks, the food was good - we had a combination of steaks and fish but the experience was let down by the lack of any care from the staff (we waited over 1 hour 30 for food and only got it after chasing the waiting staff a number of times) even when we asked for the bill and mentioned the poor service the manager did not care. There are far better places to eat in Charlestown. Overall a disappointing experience

Best Sunday roast. Perfectly cooked and large portions. Service excellent.

Really good experience, tried to book again later in the week but no availability unfortunately for us. We will be back again some time!

The food is excellent but the service is a bit slow. We couldn't order the desserts before the car park run out of time.

Some great vegan and gf options in the cafe. Just wish the portions were a bit bigger.

A stunning Sunday roast. Believe the hype. We were all delighted. Maybe slight downfall was the Yorkshire Pudding was a tad under par.

We stayed a night in Charlestown on Wednesday the 12th of July to sample the food. We weren’t disappointed. It was absolutely superb. It was some of the best food I’ve had in a long long time. Thank you

Incredible food! The sticky crunchy beef salad was superb along with the heirloom tomato side and gooseberry lemon mess dessert. We all enjoyed our meals very much and the service and drinks were excellent!

Great all round experience. 8 of us which included 3 children. Nothing was too much trouble.

Living near the Longstore at Carlyon Bay we visit frequently and it has always warranted a 5* rating however I feel the need to explain why this time only a 3. We booked and arrived for an evening meal at 6:15 on the 12th July. The wait for the main meal was over an hour (very unusual) the sirloin steak was quite tough but my grandson didn't like to tell us right away the chicken supreme was a minute piece of chicken on a bed of mush (is all I can call it)which considering the price was very poor. On telling the waitress the reply was "oh sorry about that let me know next time you are in". So very disappointing let's hope next time there is an improvement.

We've used Longstore many times over the years. Food is always amazing, lovely setting. Well priced for the quality of food available. Fast service and good range of options for all tastes.

We really enjoyed our meal and the service was great

We ate an evening meal here mid week. Everything we ate was delicious. The chef suggested changes to the cooking instructions for our steak and they were right, the meat was beautifully tender 😋 The puddings were delicious too , we tried the spiced apple cake and the Sticky toffee pudding. We'll be back x

Perfect in every way. Food was amazing. The setting and atmosphere also amazing. The service was some of the best I've experienced.

Really great location and atmosphere. Very good quality ingredients and bar selection. Mains elements of meal were good but just lacking that wow factor. The lobster was overpowered by the sauce whereas the steak's bernaise sauce lacked any flavour of tarragon. So enjoyable meal but not completely top notch.

Very nice place for lunch or dinner. Small cafe and cocktail bar downstairs, and upstairs is large, open shed restaurant and bar. Food is grills, seafood etc. Excellent service. We thought it good.

Went as birthday and wedding anniversary celebration, meal fantastic, compliments to the chef, service was good will definitely visit again.

The first time we came for Sunday lunch which was sooo good. Our second visit was also fabulous. It’s refreshing to eat good quality food that the team has taken pride in making from scratch, even the tartare sauce was home made, excellent thank you.

Delicious food, fantastic mussels and wonderful selection of non alcoholic cocktails. Clearly a lot of a care goes into the selection of each ingredient and it shows.

One of Charlestown’s finer eateries. A bit pricier than other places, but also a bit more upmarket. The waitron staff are good and can make decent recommendations! They know how the dishes taste and recommend accordingly. Their daily special menu is great (try the pork belly special)!

I am not happy with the customer service. After the meal for 2 on Saturday night i was violently ill and so was my girlfriend even though she only had a taster of my meal. I contacted the restaurant next day to inform them and they said someone would call me back. I have tried in vain today to contact them and no one answers the phone. Very dissatisfied.

The staff found us a table even when we didn’t book. The food was lovely and the atmosphere was great. Good prices for food too- thanks!

This is a must if visiting Cornwall and in particularl if in Charlestown just outside st Austell food is five start seafood all fresh steaks to die for go visit I promis you won’t be disappointed
