Popped in for a couple of drinks. A good start, with a friendly member of staff. He asked us where we would like to sit. (There was plenty of tables to choose from, as it was not busy at all). We ordered a drink which was quickly brought to our table. Lovely. It then went completely downhill. We had to wait at least 30 minutes after we had finished our first drink, to get the attention of another member of staff. The staff member said she was on her own and it was very busy! There were roughly 14 people in the pub, including ourselves. So I couldn't understand what she meant by busy! We were told that we should put our arm up (which we were) or go up to the bar and order (which is not actually allowed under the new government guidelines) But did see a few people doing this, not all wearing masks either. Not the best of experiences, which is a shame, as it's quite a nice pub and could do so much better.

We found this pub when we went to stay at Darling Buds Barn. They had everything in place to keep customers safe with the current Covid guidelines. We felt really comfortable being there. The pub itself is beautiful, quite big but with a cosy feel. Toilets were spotlessly clean. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. Good size portions, all fresh and there was 4 of us and we all had our food together served hot. Great value for money too. I can’t recommend this pub enough. We will definitely be back when visiting the area again!

Busy restaurant considering covid (glad we booked). Food was amazing and the staff were very friendly. Would highly recommend the fajitas and the creme brulee. But an excellent range on the menu, very reasonably priced.Only negative was the exit route took you into the dark with no lights to see your way back to the car park.

A bit disappointed. It is a clean place. Quite nice and friendly staff if a bit disinterested. Food arrived quickly. Unfortunately all of the dishes were quite bland and too fatty for our taste. No idea why there were mushrooms and peppers in the Lasagna. No sauce on the vegan burger. Had to ask for salt. Tiny pot of ketchup for 3 burgers with chips. Had to get some more from another table. Well... wish them well but they should really work on the food. But the (quite loud) music was good.

We came to The Bull for Sunday lunch and all had the roast dinner. The social distancing changes were all in place and were well adhered to, plenty of alcohol gel and a good distance between tables inside. We were promptly seated and received great service for the duration. The staff seemed happy and were very friendly for the duration and there was a very nice atmosphere. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was very tasty and well presented. We have been in the past and we will definitely visit again.

Our family of 7 booked a table for Sunday lunch and a birthday celebration. The pub on arrival was clearly marked following social distancing and was very clean and tidy. The staff were welcoming and attentive but not overbearing. After ordering, our food arrived within a timely manner and was hot tasty and plentiful.Three of us had pre ordered the roast dinner. Pork, Turkey and Beef and pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese sides. All were cooked to perfection with homemade Yorkshire puds and fresh vegetables. Other meals were Cod and Chips, Steak and Ribs.Once again all cooked to our liking. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We stayed at the table a little longer than expected but that was not a problem. The staff were even happy to bring out a cake that we had supplied ourselves.Thank you to all the staff at The Bull Inn. Very disappointing, we gave it one more chance after many hit and miss visits. We booked a table and arrived on time it took quiet sometime to be seated. Yes they were busy but young bar staff really didn't know what they were doing (maybe there all new and learning) "Coffee" was very poor and barely warm. Starter was hit and miss in parts but some bits very tasty and piping hot, sadly I left 80% of my flavour less main and really didn't enjoy it. The peas seam to of blanched rather than cooked as they were rock solid. We used to love it hear, but too many visits with poor food for a high price for what you get.

Wouldnt give any stars, We decided to visit this pub for food at the weekend as family came to visit me and my partner, bare in mind we only live within a 5 minute drive away, so we thought it would be an ideal place to go and convient as we live in bethersden ourselves, as we came in and ordered some drinks we were told to wait 45 minutes before we could even sit at a table and order, however there was plenty of empty tables available without reserved signs within the pub, they clearly didnt think we looked the cup of tea to eat in their pub, or they didn't want to take the trade on Saturday.. it made my mother feel like we didn't meet their standard, will not be visiting again.. wouldn't recommend

Another off-the-cuff visit for us. The pub has recently been completely refurbished and the standard is excellent. (What a nice change to use a loo in a pub that is clean and fresh, by the way). Anyway, as before, the welcome was warm and friendly, the food was good and the price was good too. Well worth a visit and for people who are disabled there are two disabled parking bays out the back with an entrance at the side that has a slight slope. Disability loo inside also. Don't miss this pub!!

Checking back, I last reviewed this pub nine years ago. We had not been back, because of the bad food and excruciatingly bad service, until now. Probably now under new management all has changed. It has just been refurbished. Looks quite rustic, well presented and very clean. Food was delicious: Starters garlic mushrooms, and salt and pepper squid - Very good. I had the steak and ale pie with beautifully cooked vegetables and my husband had an excellent fish pie. We finished by having the creme brulee and included coffee for a fiver. Good service too. I do have to say that this was the first day of opening after the refurbishment BUT no excuse really, that the gents and the disabled toilets had no toilet paper, no soap and no hot water. The most basic necessity had been entirely forgotten. Let us hope it never happens again.

Today I took 58 people to lunch at The Bull Inn Bethersden. We had pre ordered and it could not have gone better, firstly we were met by the land lady and her very friendly staff. When everyone was there, service started on time and the main talking point was the starters and how they were presented. When the main course arrived I think some people thought they should'nt have ordered a dessert as they had full plates, but when they served the desserts they all ate them. So the overall verdict was a good meal in a lovely old very friendly pub. I am sure we will be returning again next year.

To add to my wife’s review (NZ), my steak was not medium rare as requested, the beef stew (which to be fair was enjoyed) included pieces of kidney - not to everyone’s taste; and to our waiter and chef - lemon dill “dressing” is not a couple of pieces of lemon and sprigs of dill - look up the recipe on line! Me wife’s salad was genuinely poor and as a result was not charged for. There were some good points but overall the experience was very disappointing.

It took almost half an hour to get our first drink at our table and just under an hour for our first course to come out. After the main course we requested the dessert menu and ten minutes later we still didn’t think have it so we had to chase it up. We also had to ask how long the dessert would actually take as we were kept waiting again. We asked the waitress if they were short staffed (they clearly were) and were told no but that they were busy! No apology or concern for us as a customer. Upon leaving we heard someone else complaining about the service. A shame because we didn’t leave feeling like we’d had a good experience.

After having to prompt for menus it was an hour from arriving to the food being ordered. The food was pre-packaged grated cheese, guacomole and salsa with the fajitas and undercooked pie and chips with a sickly creamy sauce. One rather defensive member of staff on duty for the bar and restaurant, realistically a manageable workload which appeared to be too much on this occasion.

When we arrived the pub hardly had anyone in it and yet we were told there would be a long wait for food as they were busy which I found odd ( I could only see one table taken in the restaurant) but it soon became apparent the place was understaffed even for such low numbers. I ordered drinks and sat in the bar area but the table was sticky and dirty and some rowdy male locals (I assume they were locals) called over at us incoherently but nonetheless, I did not feel comfortable as we had come for a family meal believing it to be a family pub not a spit and sawdust local pub. We decided to sit in the garden. When the food arrived after a very long wait it was edible but it was clearly not home cooked and had the usual wholesale commercial taste and quality about it. All in all i was underwhelmed and frankly disappointed. I felt this pub could be an absolute gold mine with a bit of effort and investment but is operating wide of the mark currently. The pub looks good as you are passing so tempts in family day trippers but it is not quite making them as welcome as it could.

We visited for my mother’s 67th birthday, a party of six. The young girls serving were all very pleasant and friendly and we were served drinks very swiftly. The sharing platter came out also rather quickly and all good. The food was all very tasty, the French burger was very nice and as others have said the coleslaw is delicious.

Very nice food and friendly staff. I had the pie which was very tasty with a nice homemade pastry topping. My better half had the burger which also appeared to be homemade and was nicely seasoned and cooked (juicy not dry). Good size portions and reasonable prices. I will return.

We absolutely LOVE it here!! Always leave looking forward to our next visit! The staff are friendly & polite! The setting is beautiful and then there is the food...WOW! The prawn cocktail starter is incredible, I have it every time!! The meals are always cooked to perfection and when we go all of us (12+) the food always comes out together, hot and beautifully presented.

This is our second Christmas at the Bull with the same friends and they did not disappoint. The atmosphere was lovely, it wasn’t overcrowded so the service was spot on. The food was amazing and everyone came away very happy and agreed this should definitely be an annual event!

Took friends out for a meal here on Saturday night Wow the food was excellent and lots of it we ended up not having a pudding due to the amount of food. The staff are friendly and welcoming and a good atmosphere as well, our friends were so impressed they have asked if we can go back here next time they visit.

We visited this pub a few Saturday's ago as part of my Mum's birthday celebrations on a weekend in Kent (her 80th). It was very busy as there was a live band playing in the bar area of the pub, so there was lots of atmosphere and it didn't seem too noisy as we were sitting in the restaurant part of the pub.

With only a couple of hours notice, us..9 adults and four children were welcomed in to a lovely central table setting, that was soon filled with top class food fit for any High end Restaurant in London. We must compliment the chef. All food arrived the same time, hot and just amazing. The relaxed surroundings and friendly staff, made this a wonderful lunch for myself and our family. Third time here. Our best pub/restaurant visit of 2017.Fabulous......Sue North & family.

Our favourite local venue at the moment. We usually have lunch but have also visited in the evening. A pretty outside area with terrace seating and also a garden where you can sit at tables and children can play. Inside is a large restaurant area and a bar and other seating. Service is very good and food excellent. We last went on Thursday of last week. The staff are very friendly and efficient.

We decided to try this place as we pass it regularly . On arrival it's beautifully designed and feels nice staff are nice and friendly . Food was very up and down starters of southern coated chicken was so salty we couldn't eat them the filled potato was good and the brie was good .Mains we had chicken again very dry with big basic chips and the chicken stack had no stack . Pulled pork burger was left on the plate the pulled pork was nice but the actual beef burger which was big was tasteless it looked home made but had no seasoning or flavour . Needless to say didn't bother with desserts and won't be back for food. At a cost of £100 it was not worth it. Never ceases to amaze me how some can get simple food so wrong . I cook better at home but a evening off is nice if you can find the right place

Have not visited the Bull for while so popped in for Sunday lunch. My wife and I both had the roast beef which was really very good. To be honest, I was surprised at just how good it was. Definitely a notch or two above other pub roasts I have had. Good service by friendly and helpful staff. Well worth a visit.

After a gorgeous walk around the public rights of way between Bethersden & Pluckley the 4 of us ended up at The Bull for a late Sunday lunch. A very friendly welcome took us to the table and well needed drinks before taking our orders. A very good variety from Sunday Roasts, through fish and meat dishes, pizzas and burgers. The food was good and the service with a smile added to the good experience. My one tiny niggle was the burger I had was advertised as having crispy bacon, but the bacon was far from crispy! That said, the burger itself was excellent. A thoroughly enjoyable lunch, reasonable cost and smiling staff :)

What a beautiful Pub, in the heart of the Kentish country side. I booked to have lunch with a friend on a drive out for the day. It seemed a popular stop for cyclists. Our meals, particularly the main was ok as was the presentation. Desserts were small and presentation poor. Expensive for pub grub in my opinion. Wont be reccomending, or going there again.

Back in the UK for the first time in years, we were delighted to spot a "real country pub" on our route. The setting is indeed lovely, and the staff were friendly. We were really looking forward to their "traditional pub food".Sadly, the food was a great disappointment. I went for a "daily special": my potato-skin starter wasn't bad. My husband was hungry so went à la carte... and was served a prawn cocktail as a starter with... four prawns. Four. Plus some rather tired lettuce.I had the "daily special" version of deep-fried prawns, and my husband had the same but "à la carte", meaning a few more prawns. Both plates were served with peas (straight out of the freezer) and chips (mediocre and industrial-tasting). The prawns in batter? Well, they were square. A large amount of batter with a tiny chunk of prawn inside. And utterly tasteless. Sure, there were little packets of mayo (some out of date) and ketchup and of salt and pepper in the tub of condiments, but quite frankly it was a bit like tasting cardboard. Definitely not a gastronomic experience. A nice place for a drink, sure, but absolutely not worth being called a "gastro pub". Or at least not on the day we visited.

We lunched here recently with two teenage Grandsons and had a delightful time.Firstly the interior decor and furnishings were everything you would expect of a traditional English Country Tavern tastefully modernised and here you will find "no veneer here!" Very attractively styled and a fitting and relaxing prelude to the tasteful and attractively presented meal that followed. And the service well matched all over attributes with very pleasant, helpful and attractive serving staff. The cost was also very reasonable for the high standard of grub, service, and settings. It is easy to see why the UK eating scene has gone from near bottom of the league some years ago, streaking past France, Italy etc in the range, standard and diversity of eating options available. Long may it continue.Although not used as it was a schorchingly hot day, there was a large garden with plenty of tables and a big play area for kids.
