The Bull Inn in Ashford

Having arrived towards the end of food service in the evening we were still given stellar treatment from arrival to departure. The team were welcoming, friendly and informative. We both had the beef burger and chips and honestly could not fault anything! The pie fillings were tempting too. Both of our desserts were excellent and I cannot thank the team enough for recommending the chocolate orange mousse. Excellent service. Will be coming back again soon!

Lovely looking pub with plenty of parking. The menu wasn't too big but the food was fantastic. Four of us went, and we all had something different. And the food was fantastic. Staff we extremely attentive, which made it a truly nice experience. Will definitely be going back there.

Glad that the food is freshly prepared rather than bought in. We had bottle Chablis and Valpolicella where they have a very good selection of wines. Also the local fruit juices which are better than J20s for kids were very lovely. We were very fortunate to come in when there was live music, with a gent on a guitar which was a lovely treat. The music wasn't intrusive and spot on the right level, so people could still enjoy conversation! Definitely worth a trip for lunch/dinner!

Visited last friday for a snack on way home. Shared the Nachos with pull pork and some olives. The food was great and outdoor seating good. A special mention must be made for the friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff. Highly recommended and will be visiting again. Thank you.

Attending for the second time, first for drinks, second for food under the new management and exceeded all expectations. The food was so delicious and the service was top quality. Couldn’t recommend more and will be back countless times. Beautiful scenery and perfect for couples and families alike!

We ate here tonight and highly recommend it! The venison pie was delicious as was the Mediterranean vegetable pasta, pulled pork burger and the Bull burger. The desserts were amazing too. The staff made us feel very welcome and were very attentive. We are booked in for Sunday Roast this weekend so will add a review for that too. Wishing the new management and staff at The Bull all the very best! 😃

Recently refurbished. The food is excellent, but the wait seemed unnecessary. Service could be a bit more attentive and overall yes I'd come back.

First time back since new Management and went with no Expectations, we were very impressed the service was very attentive and the food was very good, I will definitely be back.

The Bull has new management. We went back to give them a try. We sat outside to catch the setting sun and ordered some food. Pulled pork burger, fish and chips and peri peri chicken. Freshly prepared, portions were generous, prices are very reasonable - £33 per head for a main, a pudding and two alcoholic drinks each. Service was very attentive. Clearly they are working hard to return the Bull to its former glory. It was a little quieter than we expected but they have made a strong start. They are also dog friendly. We will be back.

The empty carpark on a Sunday afternoon should have been our first clue. Terrible Sunday lunch. We’d been looking forward to trying The Bull. Unfortunately the whole experience was poor. The waitress didn’t seem to be enjoying her job in the least and we felt like an inconvenience. The highchair we were given was filthy. The roasts we ordered were incredibly poor. Meat overcooked, vegetarian option raw pastry. Potatoes that weren’t cooked in the middle and cold veg. The Yorkshire puddings were flat and the whole meal had a ‘heated up’ pre-prepared staleness to it. The outside of the pub was neglected with weeds and a general untidy feel. We won’t be back.

Upon arriving we waited 10 minutes for two bar staff dealing with a couple of customers complaining about their food ! This is when we should have walked out but decided to give them a chance ! Whilst having a drink another customer decided to complain about “ bits “ floating in their freshly poured pint. We ordered two belly buster Sunday dinner. Upon receiving the dinner it looked awful, the waitress asked if everything was ok to where I asked what this shrivelled up thing was on my plate to be told a Yorkshire pudding which was smaller than the potato to when I realised it looked like we had been served up in comparison to aunt Bessie not a tradition country pub roast like other pubs in the area ! She came back again and I told her it was awful , she apologised and took plates mine hardly touched, this is when my partner asked what was floating in my Moretti ?? Again I left that … overall won’t be visiting again staff slow but friendly pub has no atmosphere food well below average ! Very disappointed

The Bull has been a bit hit and miss in recent years with a number of changes of management. However, it's great to see it back to it's best under the current tenants. We were here for lunch and the food, and the welcome, was really great. Good to see that they also have many social events planned in the coming weeks. This has always been a nice pub and I hope the current tenants are well supported. On this evidence, they deserve to be. We will definitely be back.

Opening hours are not correct on Google! Went on a Monday, shut, no lights on and car park dead!

A large group of us (27 people) went for a meal last night. The pub was busy when we walked in but the staff were really friendly and we were served quickly. Because of the size of our group we had pre-ordered our meals- everyone had 3 courses. The food came out in good time, it was delicious, hot and the portions were very generous. The staff checked on us throughout and even the landlord came over to chat to us which was lovely. Everyone had a great night - Thank you.

Bar staff where friendly and helpful we was a large group of pre ordered 3 course meals the food came out in great timing and I was honestly suprised how good it was and the portion sizes were very generous would definitely return thankyou

Had such a lovely meal today for Mother’s Day. As soon as we arrived we were greeted and taken to our table, brilliant service, amazing food, and all reasonably priced! Thank you, see you again soon :)

Nice pub, open until 11pm which is becoming a rarity on week days, although they have just announced (Feb 2024) that they wont be opening at all on Mondays & Tuesdays for the foreseeable!!

Staff were miserable , almost as miserable looking as my burger

So impressed by menu and prices. Just need more people to find this hidden gem and then the atmosphere will be 5* too. We’ll be back and wishing the new management every success. Please support local businesses.

It's a really nice country pub, good food ,very friendly and helpful staff , one of our party has a garlic allergy, our waitress went to the kitchen several times to get my friends questions answered, you can't get better than that . I would recommend a visit .

We ate here last night. The food was amazing. I highly recommend it. 5* all the way. The prawn cocktail was lush, loads of prawns. The young lad, Charlie behind the bar, was clearly made to work in hospitality. The pub was very welcoming, clean, tidy and has plenty of parking. We will definitely be returning, booking is advisable to avoid disappointment.

Christmas eve meal with family and it was terrible. Told half the very limited menu wasn't available then my son had a sirloin steak that was in my opinion a rump which was just about edible with 6 small chips . My other son had burned chicken gougons which was offered by a very rude chef as he didn't like any off the starters. Cold coffee and a rock solid brownie which my son couldn't even cut. We paid over £150 for this rubbish. Sub standard ,overpiced , small portions passed off as upmarket. I wouldn't of paid for it I was so annoyed but being Christmas eve I didn't want to make a fuss for my families sake.

Went for lunch today and was extremely underwhelmed. I had a burger cooked way beyond it should be and raw onions dumped inside. Wife and father in law had Sunday roasts and both said they were barely warm and veg was hard. Staff seem a bit clueless and two beers missing in masterbrew and bishop's finger. I can say I have tried the place now but wouldn't return unless changes are made

Turned up at 14:30 and they had stopped serving food. Not even an attempt to offer anything even though the kitchen was still cooking food for other customers. It is only good for a toilet stop. The food menus were still up giving the impression of continuing service. Staff were dismissive. They turned away a family of four as well. Just full of booze hounds...

Haven't been to this pub for a long while so my husband and I decided to try it for a Sunday lunch. Was pleasantly surprised at the refurb, very nice. Went for a roast dinner but from our experience, would only give it a 6/10. The meat was great, really tender, but the accompanying veg were below par. The roast potatoes could have taken out a tooth, so hard inside and out, and the cabbage was not cooked either. If we had a tablespoon of cauliflower cheese between us we would have been lucky. I know pubs are having to increase prices and we are all seeing smaller portions on our plates to boot, but did not feel this was worth £15.95 The staff were lovely, and would return for drinks anytime for sure, but alas our food experience was a tad disappointing.

Nice food and pleasant evening. New waiters being trained up so maybe five stars in future once they have everything in place.

Just turned up on a Sunday no booking 7 kids in tow let me tell you this pub is banging all the adults had the 4 meat roast best roast hands down I have ever had in a pub the cuts of meat were good size we couldnt even eat it all , toys and games for the kids to play with the kids meals also banging and good value for money great beer garden great pub good friendly atmosphere drinks good and decently priced will 💯 be coming back

Food good beer good what more do you need. That was 4yrs ago went for a meal today 5/8 /2022. Starter was good, mains was so salty I could not finish the meal , four of us went we all had different meals and they were not good, they ran out of our larger we drink so not happy, no check back, new staff need training badly , 1st time we have not left a Tip.

Waiting an hour then chased to be told down a chef. No apology. Order cheesy garlic bread no cheese lack of taste. Order chorizo and chicken tagliatelle lack of flavour. Mainly Taste of mushroom which wasn't even mentioned on menu. Avoid

Not a great meal or service. Real shame been going to the Bull for a long time . My wife ordered a chicken kebab, luckily she decided to order some chips, as the kebab was 6 bits of chicken a bit of pitta and Salad for £14 . Then my mixed grill arrived , very dry chicken, steak was not medium, then forgot the egg , mushrooms and black pudding. Very slow service which, would have been ok if the food was ok . Spoke to the owner and agreed that I would not pay for the mains so fair play but, must improve on food .

I've not eaten here but will be going back to try it out. What I will say is the staff were great, friendly and helpful. Also, gave our daughters some ice poles because of the heat. What great customer service so will definitely be going back...

Stop off on the way home mid afternoon the place didn't look very busy but got told there was a 45 minute wait for a table for 3 the young girl didn't even offer a table in garden which was empty obviously the pub don't need or want the trade so only stop if you have booked

Food fantastic but don't visit if you are time limited

A great pub/restaurant. The food is amazing and a good selection, with a lunchtime menu in place during the week for extra choice. There's a good amount of seating inside and a massive beer garden with a good selection seats around. There's a good sized car park too, which is free.

We had a very lovely dinner at the Bull Inn. The staff is really friendly.

I would like to review how the food was at this establishment however after first waiting fifteen minutes before the staff come over and took our drink order, after another hour and fifteen minutes and no sign of our starters, I decided to leave. No one at anytime come over providing reasons for the delay. Totally p***ed off and never to return.

Table ready when we arrived, good service, had buffalo wings (tasty but perhaps could have been crispy, skin was soggy) however the Steak Fajitas were lovely. Plenty of steak and accompanying onions, peppers etc.

Very nice pub, didn't try the food but the service we got was pleasant and friendly. Relaxing atmosphere and comfortable sofas to sit on. Definitely want to try the food as the restaurant was quite busy. Usually a good sign.

Poor service. Staff standing around talking to each other. Waited 25 minutes between mains being cleared and ordering desserts.Decided to leave instead. Decent food.

Always have great service, a great meal and good drinks whilst enjoying a lovely atmosphere! Cosy in the winter with log burners and a fantastic garden in the summer. Top notch!

Absolutely wonderful place on the A28 at Bethersden, just outside of Ashford in Kent, food I found absolutely beautiful, my wife was also very impressed.

Very busy quite a long wait but worth it enjoyed the gammon and a pudding. Staff very helpful and friendly.

My first visit here and had a fab night out with friends. The food was great and staff very attentive. Some of the group were pleased with the Vegetarian specials menu. I've already decided to come back to try the Roast dinner!

Food was good but found the restaurant lacking in personality and atmosphere, used to be better. They always seem so short of staff especially in the kitchen.

Don't bother going to this pub for food as we were told two sandwiches would take an hour and a quarter to be served!
