The Bull Inn in St Edmundsbury

This is one of our favourite pubs to visit in the area and we were excited to return and try their new menu. Upon arrival, we were sat in their modern and well-designed restaurant and our drinks order was taken promptly. There was an extensive gin list and three excellent cask ales on offer. There are also numerous wine and lager offerings. The food that we had was excellent. The menu is not huge but it is sufficient and there is a varied choice. For starters, we went for the pork belly bites and garlic mushrooms on toast. The pork belly was crunchy on the outside but the fat was still soft and juicy and it was paired with a delicious maple and whole grain mustard sauce. The garlic mushrooms were rich and creamy and were simply scrumptious. For mains we had the minced beef and onion pie and the Harrissa chicken with chorizo risotto. The pies take 25 mins (this is expressed on the menu) and they are worth the wait. Beautiful, buttery shortcrust pastry and they are full to the brim. It is accompanied with a buttery chive mash and green veg. The chicken and risotto was superb too. It was chicken thigh which meant that it was juicy and flavourful and the risotto was creamy and the chorizo flavour really came through. We did not have room for dessert on this occasion but have had them before and they are always delicious. If you are in the area or looking for somewhere new to try then you must give it a go!

My partner & I booked for a Sunday lunch. Everything we ordered was absolutely devine. Partner had Mushroom soup to start, I had pate. Both had a Beef roast dinner. Then we both had Sticky toffee pudding. I can honestly say it’s the best we’ve eaten. We wouldn’t hesitate to return if in the area again.

One night stay , can't fault the room ,food was great . Bonkers Conkers beer (Green King) was a good pint , staff were very friendly. Breakfast brilliant.

Visited with my husband for a Friday night treat and to try the new menu. There were so many things we wanted to try and it all sounds delicious. We had the mince beef and onion pie, which was lovely with the best pastry (they always make a tasty pie) and the chicken and chorizo risotto, absolutely dreamy. The service was excellent as always and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. Already planning our next visit and how to work through the whole menu.

We really like the Bull especially for Sunday roasts and we were not disappointed again A starter of garlic mushrooms and then onto the roast beef Nicely cooked beef and nice sized portions of veg and a lovely Yorkshire pudding Then apple cake and an affogato All of this is underpinned by the outstanding customer service by Beth. Attentive but not too much but aware what is going on around the restaurant

I'm sorry here but I find this more with our pub food nowadays, they are tending to sway too far towards a-la -carte dishes. All four of us said the same about the accompanying salads , they just never went with the main, the chips, huge lumps of potato, just far to much, the Rib eye steaks which we asked to be rare to medium turned up like well done minute steaks, no fat in or around the meat at all, more like a thin lean sirloin. The service was good, no complaints there. Sorry, not for us this time.

Visiting Woolpit for an Open Garden event we decided to have Sunday lunch at the Bull Inn Restaurant. What a good decision that was. The staff were welcoming and accommodating. The food was delicious, generous portions and great value.

We stayed here for a funeral, had a lnice room and dinner and breakfast, the staff were very friendly and welcoming 🙏 the pub was very popular, and could understand why. Had a lovely pudding, don't really do pudding, but I'm glad I did. Thanks for having us 🙏

A comfortable room in a lovely country pub. Breakfast was excellent, cooked freshly to order by David, an asset to the establishment. It was our second visit to The Bull, the room had a lovely fresh smell, it was small but perfectly adequate for our stay. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Wi-Fi to the room was good. The garden was very well looked after. Our room was outside in an annex with a beautiful fenced private garden area. Unlike last year when we stopped, they no longer service the rooms, but you can ask for them to be refreshed. Sadly, we never got back in time to sample the pub, perhaps next time.

We’re regular and supportive customers here and for several years now this is usually our go-to local place for dinners and lunches. Our previous reviews should appear on this website too. We often attend as a group of 4 or 6 and sometimes 8, if we have something to celebrate. If we have house guests, we usually take them here for an evening meal. On the basis of the above, it’s not to be unexpected that we’d leave a good review for the menu and table staff. Well, here it is. The menu changes periodically related to seasonal availability and the time of year. It’s always well prepared and cooked and we often notice that the presentation style on the plates is attractive. We have several “favoured” items. In particular the chorizo/scotch egg starter and seasonal asparagus offerings are very good and the selection of mains is varied and pleasing. Chicken supreme appears now and again and scores high for presentation and taste. I had a steak at our last visit and requested medium/rare. It appeared exactly as that and I passed on my compliments to our table server, noting that it was tender and I didn’t need to use the steak knife provided. The affogato dessert is a firm favourite with our group. No surprises there then with the quality of the food, its presentation and the friendliness of the helpful waiting staff. We’ll be back of course. One small thing: the staff don’t wear name badges and it is difficult to make positive comments on the night (or now) about “the blonde girl with glasses” or “the dark haired girl who drives in from near Bury”. It’s often good to put a name to a face.

Went here for a celebration dinner with friends, there were 6 adults. We’d spent about £6K there over the last year (as recorded by our online banking app) so you won’t be surprised to hear that we were regular and supportive customers. One of our party was a vegetarian (as are many people) but she had the added complication of her digestive system being unable to handle spicy food. There was nothing on the menu she could eat, the main veggie dish was a slab of cauliflower which was grilled (I think) with some spices. We ordered up and the lady asked if they could make her an omelette of something similar. The table attendee seemed rather apprehensive about checking this for us. He went into the kitchen and spoke to a woman in there whom I am sure was not the regular chef. She screamed through the open door towards us “It’s not on the f***ing menu”. This was followed by she sound of several other customers jaws hitting the table in shock and surprise. Because this was an anniversary dinner, we didn’t walk out but our veggie lady asked if there was anything else she could have. The table attendant said no. She asked if she could have ham, egg and chips without the ham. That was acceptable. I asked to see the manager and the table attendee came over. I politely explained that our veggie lady couldn’t manage spicy food and she was upset at the language used about us by the woman in the kitchen. I can only assume she was assisting and not the regular chef (he is always very accommodating and often offers alternatives). Will we go there again? Did we get charged for the full ham egg and chips? What do you think….

I seldom leave reviews but the service, food and accommodation are all perfect. From the welcome to the poached eggs for breakfast.

We were delighted by the quality of the food served to all four of us, It tasted fantastic. Thank you also for the friendly service from the ladies that looked after us. We will be back to taste more of your menu.

Amazing food and service. Lovely beer garden, set in a beautiful village. Old world charm with pool table, dart board and juke box. Great portion sizes, Sunday lunch is a must. Dog friendly in the conservatory and garden. Children welcome.

Came here for Sunday lunch and was really impressed. Service was really good, roast beef and all the trimmings were really tasty and a good portion size. Will definitely be returning 😊

Very welcoming to our family group with dogs. Food delicious with a good variety to choose from. We were seated in the conservatory area which is dig friendly.

This restaurant is always a choice for us to get together for special celebrations. It’s a friendly local pub which has a ‘drinkers bar’ with a great dartboard and often sport on the TV. , you then go through to the ‘pool room’ not the water kind! Further back you will find a very modern chic restaurant with conservatory area which accepts dogs. For those summer days there is a large patio and garden area. The menu changes regularly, the food is always seasonal, locally sourced and excellent quality.

We went as a family to mark Mum’s birthday. 11 of us. The food and service were outstanding. Really enjoyed the evening and we will certainly use again.

The food was very good especially the wild mushroom tagliatelle and the pie of the day. Service was a bit hit and miss. The waitress had no knowledge of the menu and had to go back to the kitchen twice to answer our questions. When we finished our mains she cleared the table and asked if we would like to see the dessert menu and we said yes. Ten minutes later she asked if she could take our dessert order but at this point we were still waiting to see the menu.

Visited with friends on a Friday evening. Great service and staff gave us time to chat and catch up - no rushing us to finish. I had Rosemary Chicken meatballs from the Specials. Absolutely delicious! The triple chocolate brownie was amazing, the little pieces of honeycomb adding a lovely crunch. Great food, great atmosphere, best place to eat!

Nice place, lovely surroundings, comfortable and was nice and warm on what was a cold night outside. The food was really tasty and nicely presented and there was a good choice, however the whole experience was disappointing by the lack of service and the attention to customers, need more staff!!

Had the most amazing food at The Bull Inn in Woolpit Suffolk today, took family there and they absolutely loved it, they said it was the best meal out they've had in ages our meals were exceptional and well worth the money.The staff Claire, Scott and others are so friendly and welcoming, the Chef and his assistant produced a fantastic lunch for us and will definitely be going back for more, followed by the best Espresso Martini from Claire. Can't recommend this place enough. Thank you so much.

We have visited the bull before but our first Sunday lunch. The meat was cooked beautifully with a good range of veggies! We didn’t have enough room for dessert but had to change our mind and share one once we saw them coming out. We had a warm gooey brownie…delicious! The 2 Beth’s were attentive and we hope you take care of us again because we were so impressed at how well you did your job.

We visited the Bull for early dinner NYE. We were tempted by the attractive marketing and numerous good reviews. The menu was limited and a couple of items were already unavailable. We shared the last two chicken liver pates between 3 of us which was nice with an interesting side salad. My fellow diners both ordered the steak and ale pie and I ordered the fish and chips. We were advised the pies would take 25 mins but it felt like they were ready sooner. Pastry was very undercooked but the meat was tender and had a good flavour. The fish was nice with a crisps light batter but the chips were in fact very large wedges which were a bit dry and uninspiring, more like a baked potato cut into quarters. It was ok but didn’t live up to expectations especially for the price. I heard the table next to us complain about the lack of choice and were advised it was due to the menu changing.

Found this great country pub whilst in the area- and what a treat 😍. We had the bread and oil/balsamic to nibble on....omg - huge portion! Then we had the absolutely delicious butternut squash and sweet potato soup - wow 👌 Gorgeous. For main we had their home made beef and ale pie, with root veg mash, red cabbage sprouts, celeriac puree.....again fantastic. Didn't anticipate the quantity of food. A definite food coma insued! So.....the next day we went back for Sunday Dinner....and the food was just as good! Celeriac, apple and parsnip soup was out of this world. Creamy with a lovely crisp tartness - served with a huge doorstep sized piece of granary bread. We went with beef for the main - plenty of it too. Not the measly little slices you often get. The veg was all very tasty and cooked just how we like. We even left room for pudding this time. I had the lemon posset. He had Gingerbread Italian Affogato 👍 A huge thank you to Claire our waitress and Christmas hostess with the mostess. Check out her Xmas cocktails. I couldn't resist the Grinch and Fairy Floss....😋😋😋. It's rare for us to be in this part of the UK, but if in the area again we will definitely return.

We took visiting family members here for a meal. Excellent food, excellent and friendly service, and quite reasonable prices. The surroundings are clean and pleasant without being intrusive and the staff attentive, relaxed and happy. Highly recommended! Our visitors said that they loved the room where they stayed for the night.

Incredible!! Wonderful service and amazing food. We called to make sure there would be availability for us about an hour before. The restaurant was clean and ambient. The food, oh the food was just delicious. Beautifully plated and so tasty. Locally sourced and fairly priced. Will be visiting again for sure.

Well a long awaited return to a fabulous pub restaurant. Lock down had kept us away but tonight we had the pleasure of eating here once again. Such are the staff(Bethany) they rang us whilst we were heading there for a meal outside to warn us of bad weather, but not even the good old British weather will stop us having a great meal. Yet again we were not let down, amazing meal in the rain, the staff could not of been more helpful. Can't wait to see you all again and maybe some sun too.

Popped in on a whim and we are so happy we did. Lovely garden. The food was really stunning and Beth was so lovely and friendly. Definitely coming back.

Brilliant Pub and BnB!Stayed here with work for 40 nights over February and March. Paul, Darren and David couldn’t have been anymore accommodating. They were always ensuring hygiene and covid regulations were being adhered to.The Room was amazing and had everything you could want. Breakfast was brilliant, once again David couldn’t have done anymore for me, he was always happy to prepare me anything i requested for breakfast each morning varying from cereal to a full fry up. The fry up was amazing and i would definitely recommend. Paul and Darren were great hosts and we would always have a chat and a catch up in the lovely courtyard and garden. Unfortunately i did not manage to spend anytime in the bar but from what i could see from the decor, looks a really nice homely village pub. I will definitely be visiting again when i am next in the area. Fantastic stay all round!

We visited Saturday lunch time as a family. The food was outstanding!! It was really nice to have an option on the children’s menu that isn’t chips. Really Lovely, friendly staff. We felt very safe with all the covid procedures they had in place. We’ve even booked to go back again before Christmas!!

We had a fantastic meal at the Bull, from the lovely waitress Beth to the awsome food, sanitising stations and following covid rules, this place is not just a pub as they have a large dining area out the back of the pub which is very modern and decorated lovely and is kept very clean, definitely will be visiting again soon, thanks guys James and Christina x

Well another fabulous meal.My five year old daughter asked to have her birthday at the Bull Inn as she loves it there.So family birthday meal all of us having different mains and everyone of us absolutely loving ours. Not just excellent food but the staff are the best, and thanks for the birthday wishes on my five year old daughter's take home olive's. Looking forward to seeing you all again.

We love this pub, the staff are great and have done everything to make sure that guests are COVID safe whilst still making sure that you have a lovely visit. The food is generous, fresh and nicely presented, nice touches make it special. The garden is great looking over the village, church. Always make sure that we visit when we are staying with family, one of the highlights of our visits.

We recently visited the Bull Inn for an evening meal and we were not disappointed at all. The food was well prepared and expertly cooked.Our friendly waitress ensured all was well with our meals, we had a little wait for the food, but that was absolutely fine as good food takes time to prepare.Despite being a bit too full for a tempting desert, we compromised and shared one, it was too good to miss out.A great evening and well worth the visit!ps. As ever in this new normal, covid procedures were very clear with directional signage/ sanitiser and entrance/exits clearly marked.

We visited The Bull for one night, the staff were excellent and looked after us. Covid measures were very good. Food was fantastic and the room was lovely and comfortable and clean.Lots of nice little touches like the tea and coffee in the room were sealed and this was very nice in the current climate.

I visited the bull inn on a busy Friday evening with my partner and son. The restaurant was full and after tasting the food we weren’t surprised! The food is freshly cooked and presented so beautifully. My son is 2 and there was lots of choice on both the children’s and full menu. I had the Rib-eye steak and my partner had a naked burger followed by lemon meringue pie it was all delicious! Great wine menu I would recommend the Picpoul de Pinet very drinkable! Would definitely recommend

Visited the Bull Hotel several times during a short break in Woolpit. Absolutely brilliant food, lovely friendly staff and excellent social distancing measures in place. Felt very safe to enjoy a delicious meal. Highly recommend.

We have been here several times. The quality of the food, along with the price means this is a favourite of ours. I love the crayfish and avocado salad (with an order of sweet potatoes on the side), the boys love the steak and burgers. Garlic mushroom starter is also lovely. Slightly smaller menu now, but I think that is what COVID brings. A shame the Mediterranean fish stew (I think it was) is no longer on there, as I loved that too. Service from the older staff great, sometimes the odd younger one isn't quite with it.

Had a lovely meal here this evening. Had steak and ale pie which had plenty of really fresh vegetables to accompany it. Also had the chicken tikka curry which was really tasty and had plenty of chicken in it. Desserts really nice as well. All food home cooked. Staff very friendly and gave good service all evening. All covid restrictions adhered to and plenty of hand sanitiser throughout the pub. All clean and tidy. Could not fault anything and would definitely recommend this place.

We enjoyed a good meal here. The staff were friendly and service was good. The sticky toffee pudding was particularly good.

This was our first meal out post COVID. Liked the one way system in place. Ordered drinks at bar and then shown to table where we stayed until we left as it's table service. Food was lovely especially liked the split sugar snap peas in my salad!

A proper village pub, seemingly attracting bankers to bikers, just how a pub should be. Well kept beer, simple one way system for COVID shenanigans, a lovely garden full of fruit trees, and set well back from the road, so very good for children and dogs; food all very good, and all staff friendly and efficient.got talking to a few different people, and this is what we have missed, not drinking, but talking to people about nothing in particular, or a pub visit as it’s known! Relaxing . Recommended.

We had a wonderful family meal to celebrate My birthday. Always friendly, and the service is excellent. The food is a cut above your average pub, with delicious flavours and seasonal produce. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

We visited this pub on our way to our campsite in Suffolk.The pub had a good one-way system in place and was very well signposted.The man who served us at the bar was very polite and friendly.We had a table booked inside but as it was a hot day we chose to sit outside.The garden was also a lovely place to sit.We were a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children)We ordered salads and kids menu.Food was lovely and fresh a hot when arrived.We would definitely return.

Really impressed by the quality of food and service for our large family gathering. There were 11 of us and all the food came out together & hot, great choice too. They are taking lots of precautions in the current situation so we all felt safe. Would highly recommend for good pub food and friendly staff.

We went to the Bull Inn for Sunday lunch and I’m afraid we were not impressed, the staff were good but the food wasn’t up to standard, we sat outside and we were swarmed with flies. It could have been a bad day for the chef but needless to say we won’t be going back. Very disappointed.

What a wonderful little discovery this traditional pub was. We were desperate to have our first meal our following lockdown, and even though we live relatively local to Woolpit, we had never considered the The Bull as an option. What a big mistake! We all had a great Sunday roast and the food was fantastic! Our children are not easily impressed, but both have requested to go back several times since. The atmosphere was great, staff very friendly and welcoming, and we felt safe throughout. The owners have clearly worked very hard to create a lovely venue. The main menu looked very nice too and we will be visiting again soon. I can’t recommend this place enough!

What can I say, after the lock down and not being able to come and enjoy the Bull Inn.Finally we got to come see you again, absolutely worth the wait.Greeted at the door by a very polite young man, lead through to the dining area to meet Bethany (head of House) As usual such a lovely young lady. Then we get to eat, there are few words to explain how good the food is, the chef is amazing, the cream and mushrooms starter is divine, truly can't wait to eat here again.We are actually booking the wife's 50th birthday day party /meal here as it will make a special day extra special.Thanks to all the staff at the Bull Inn for an amazing meal and evening with you all

So good to be back at this wonderful, friendly village pub after closure. I was nervous about returning but they have such a great set up and lots of space. Food has always been amazing and really enjoyed our roast. Please support these businesses. We need them.

First outing since lockdown and we enjoyed a great three course Sunday roast here. Staff made us all feel safe and welcome, with all social distancing measures, clear signage and ample hand sanitising stations everywhere. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced as well. Definitely eased fears for us as a family about returning to pubs, but this is a great example of how it can be done and we will definitely be returning very soon. Highly recommended

After four months in isolation it was a pleasure to go for a proper pint of real ale. The proprietors were welcoming, the floor marked with pathways and everything clearly signposted. We were greeted at the door with hand sanitiser and details taken using a pen that I noticed had just been resanitised. We were shown to our own table, but placed near old friends so we could have conversations with non-family members and the beer was in perfect condition! Top marks all round!

We were a little apprehensive before visiting not sure what to expect. On arrival it was positive to see entrance and exit clearly marked and a friendly member of staff waiting for us as we walked in. We gave contact details and were shown to our table, again clear directions throughout the building. As expected a reduced menu but something there for everyone and as delicious as always. Staff friendly and professional and a nice touch that they were all dressed exactly the same so that they were easy to spot for advice if necessary. We had a lovely relaxed lunch, thank you to all at the Bull!

Had really been looking forward to getting out of the house, getting back into the Bull and having great food and service.All social distancing measures were in place with hand sanitizers widely available. Our contact details were taken.A one use, paper, reduced menu was available for this first day. Menu destroyed after our use.We had the cheeseburger with chunky chips and the crayfish and avocado salad which were excellent. How much we have missed eating out!!A wider range of meals will be available from July 7th.It was great to talk to Paul and his team and to start to get back to some sort of normal.I know some people are nervous about going into pubs/restaurants just yet. Have no fears about eating here at the Bull - you will be fine.

Visited this beautiful restaurant again with partner and 2 year old son. We can’t get enough of the fresh dishes on the menu. My partner had the burger and it looked and tasted amazing. My son had the pasta and meatballs which he thoroughly enjoyed however still left room to share my sticky toffee pudding which was the best Sticky toffee pudding I’ve ever tried! Keep up the good work

We live fairly near so my birthday was an excuse for a treat. The menu is varied, the food excellent and reasonably priced, there are real ales, well kept, and the waitress delightful! What more could I want from a restaurant? I would be happy to recommend The Bull to anyone as the standard is always high. Enjoy!

I regularly visit the pub, occasionally having some food and it never fails to impress with the quality and freshness of the food. Very friendly staff who are always happy to chat. Can’t recommend this place enough. 5*

Lovely Valentine's Day menu. The food was great and the welcome glass of Prosecco a very nice touch. Service was very pleasant and the atmosphere and table decorations well thought through. Would definitely recommend the restaurant for a special meal, although the pub and conservatory are nice for dinner earlier in the week.

I came here for dinner with a group of my friends and we were definitely not disappointed! I had the chorizo pasta which was delicious and everyone else on the table was very happy with their food. We even had a couple of kids with us and there was plenty of choice for them too! There was a great atmosphere and the staff were so helpful. I’ll definitely be coming here again!!

My husband and I had a lovely meal last night as a Valentine treat. Very warm welcome from friendly staff, our table was pretty with fresh rose petals and a complimentary glass of Prosecco. We both had fillet steak which was beautifully cooked and the red wine jus was delicious. Chocolate bread and butter pudding was to die for, thoroughly recommend. Great service and inviting atmosphere.

Visited here last Sunday with my partner and children, we had the roast which was delicious! The kids really enjoyed the food too and were kept entertained by the colouring the friendly waitress provided for them! We will definately be returning and will recommend to friends and family

Food was absolutely gorgeous, I would recommend for family’s or a little bite out to eat. The chef should be pleased happy customer, the service was very polite and speedy.

We were a group of five and we've been before. The dining area was set away from the main bar area and there was still a nice atmosphere. It was comfortable and warm. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. The service was great. Would definitely recommend to others.

We had passed this pub many times and then a friend recommended we try their dinner menu. I’m so pleased we did. The car park had plenty of room. The ambience when we walked in was very warming and welcoming. The staff were really helpful, polite and friendly. There was a good choice of dishes on the menu and we found it hard to choose. I had the seafood platter as a main, which could also be had as a starter for 2. My husband had the slow cooked roast belly of pork, which he thoroughly enjoyed. My seafood platter was delicious, but my eyes were bigger than my tummy and as I wanted a dessert I couldn’t finish it all and I do hate wasting good food. My husband had the lemon sponge which he said was very light and tasty. I had my favourite, sticky toffee pudding. Delicious. We are going back there tomorrow night and taking our nephew from Australia, as we felt it was a good local restaurant for him to experience good, well prepared food. Highly recommended.

Ive eaten here numerous times and have never been disappointed! The food is always fresh and absolutely delicious with a great atmosphere. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a good place to eat! Rating The Bull stars isn’t enough :)

Met up with my friends at this lovely country pub, and were we glad we did!

Called and booked for a table reservation for 4 and managed to get booked in with no problem (Saturday night as well)

Visited last night with friends, we were in the restaurant which is decorated beautifully, very clean and contemporary. It was very quite on our visit but that didn’t affect the food or service. The food was excellent, a great choice for all pallets and was cooked to perfection! The service was also excellent, friendly and attentive without being over the top. Would recommend you try this lovely village establishment and we will definitely be returning.

Lovely food, fantastic Children’s meals and fairly priced.

We went for a early evening booking for 2 adults & 3 older teenagers. The decor in the Bull looks modern & smart giving a high quality finish, although the adults thought the tables looked a bit out of place style wise. The music playing was suitable for the adults and teenagers and helped to create a really nice ambience.

We have just had a most delicious meal at The Bull Inn. It had a lovely fresh and welcoming feel to it. The friendly staff looked after us well. Our waiter was a lovely young man who new his job well. The menu had an excellent selection of food and I really appreciated the range of DF and GF options. The quality of the food when it arrived was mouthwatering and tasted so fresh and flavoursome. After a generous starter and mains we did not get to sample the sweets. So to give a more rounded review we will obviously have to make a return visit!

Great food & friendly staff. Visiting from London, would love to come again. The chicken & halloumi burger was delicious.

Visited The Bull as a large group of us, we were all so happy with our experience. The food tasted as good as it looked and so much choice on the menu, the bull really does cater for everyone.

Visited for my daughter's birthday, we had the Christmas menu which had a lot to choose from and everything sounded lovely. I had the lamb stew which was delicious and all meals were beautifully presented, my family were all very happy with their choices. Christmas pudding was yummy too! We had little people with us too and there was a good choice for them and they were made very welcome. Would thoroughly recommend a visit soon

Wow what a night. Great three course christmas meal cooked to perfection. Great atmosphere and a good time had by all. Staff where spot on food all out together good going for a party of ten. A credit to the village

Eight of us visited this wonderful pub for a celebration meal. Had drinks at the bar as we were early. Adnams was first class! Through to the restaurant which was decorated with all of the Christmas decorations and was lovely and warm and really well laid out. The food was tremendous. Too many of us to go through with what we all had but everyone one of us thoroughly enjoyed everything. The chef is clearly very talented. presentation and taste was sublime and I would highly recommend. A lovely atmosphere, busy, which created a lovely buzz. The service from Bethany who looked after us from start to finish was first class. So helpful and always smiling. Nothing was too much trouble. If you have not been and like good food, beer, wine, great service there is no where better in my opinion.

Our second gathering for Sunday lunch and the food was excellent on both occasions. Fresh veg, plenty of meat and generous puddings. Just off the A14 - well worth a detour.

Choice of food was difficult to make from the menu as it all looked good. Settled for the beef and ale pie and the meatball grazing platter. One of the best meals we have had out in ages.

Visiting the area for the weekend so we booked in for 2 nights and we were not disappointed. Nice and relaxed ambience pleasant staff and very good food. I would highly recommend the bull.

Haven’t eaten Sunday lunch for a while but took family today who loved it. Consistent quality and brilliant staff. Well done all! Will continue to recommend

Lovely meal, full of flavour. Excellent apple crumble to finish. Good choice of real ales available in the bar.

Overall our summary would be that nothing was too much trouble for the staff team. Our double room was clean and comfortable and as soon as we pointed out the defective shower head it was replaced. We enjoyed the breakfasts each morning especially the bacon sandwiches! The evening menu has a good range and what was particularly impressive was the amount of proper home cooked meals provided. None of your precooked meals here! Even the side salads were varied to accompany different meals - using fresh, quality ingredients. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you!

As always, had another excellent meal here recently. It is such good value for money and the menu is varied and the food is delicious with friendly, efficient service by Sasha. They also have a great wine list. Keep up the good work - The Bull is very underrated and people need to go there to see just how good it is. Well done!

We had an enjoyable stay at this village pub which has been updated to a good standard.

We were staying at a caravan site near by and advised to go here. We both had the slow cooked pork belly with a cider gravy. It was slightly undercooked but really tasty as were the accompanying vegetables. It was a bit strange though as they opened at 5, we got there at 5.20 and asked for a table for 2 in a completely empty but fully laid out restuarant but asked to wait in the bar until a table was available?? We had only just sat down with our drinks before we were called in. When we left there were only 2 more tables taken which for a Saturday evening was strange too. However, a lovely meal.
