Came to celebrate a new job. Had a bottle of chilled Moet served by the lovely Izzy. Nothing was to much trouble. Had a great 3 plate starter to share followed by the huge 20oz mixed grill and a steak for the wife. Such a friendly place. Beautiful surroundings. Will diffinalty be back.

We had not eaten here before but were delighted to be told some meals were 50% offer. Our food was delicious - well presented and served speedily. Our waitress was cheerful and indeed told us of the food offer! However we noted that there was no GF bread which limited one guest choice. Likewise there was no decaffeinated tea - coffee - Earl Grey or milk alternatives which was surprising with how tastes and diets have changed. We would still return to enjoy another meal in this pub - thank you

Booked a table for 7 midweek to celebrate a birthday after hearing good things about the place. Didn't know it has recently changed ownership. Was so disappointed in the menu choices. Two steaks were ordered and both could not be finished because of the poor quality meat and being badly cooked. Two vegetable curries were ordered and could not be finished because the french beans were rock hard while all other veg was cooked. I have to say there were no complaints about the burgers or kebab ordered. Oh and the pastry on the french apple tart was rock hard too. Such a shame because the staff were friendly and efficient. Won't be going back.

Booked for a special meal for our daughters birthday as we'd been there several times before and had beautiful varied food. Now under new ownership with an entirely different menu, and what a disappointment. No rice available - unbelievable!! The dessert chosen by 2 of us was also unavailable. The wine selection was also more limited. Much of the food was tepid and the service was slow. Sorry to say we won't be going again.

Visited the Bull on 22 Sept as friends had said it was good value.Checked menu on website, but on arrival found Pub under new ownership- Red Cat not now Classic Inns, so a new menu. I chose a Dish I thought was of med origin , Chicken Skewer coos coos flatbread. Was Titled Sriracha which meant it was cooked with Asian Hot Chilli sauce. No mention of Chili in description, and I am averse to it. Dish changed and had a Curry not bad. Pleased with way complaint dealt with. Dish Mediterranean sounding spoilt by Sriracha Sauce chillli of Asian origin.Am a Dre to Chilli so Staff changed it, The Curry I had was good for a Pub Curry. Pleased with way complaint dealt with complaint. Slight downside, as quiet time too many staff lurking round the Bar, not goood for ambiance, so reason 3 not 4 Stars. .

Drinks were priced as expected with a good range on offer. The food on the whole was fairly good although the sausages on one meal were a little burnt. The waitress however took that meal off the bill without any hostility and apologised. Good customer service. The Bull has been run by different management teams over the years. The latest ‘classicinns’ took over in 2017 with a much needed injection of capital giving the old place a lovely facelift to the interior and exterior. Great undercover seating outside with patio heaters and throws. I’ve eaten here on several occasions since the refurb and to be blunt it really is very disappointing, if they provide gluten free options it isn’t clear on the menu, they’ve taken away the old classics like steak and ale pie, plain chicken, jacket potatoes, the side salad is ‘tiny’ in a pot and they charge £2.99 for such. In total for 3 people having 3 starters and a main each with 2 drinks each (alcoholic) the total was£91.92. To be honest we could of eaten for less in town or at another local pub.

This was a disappointing experience. My brother and I took our mother here for Sunday lunch, along with our adult children. The meal began badly when my 18 year old daughter was refused a glass of wine with her meal because she had no ID, although this would have been perfectly legal even had she been much younger. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere and seemed completely unnecessary particularly as we were obviously a family party. Our food order wasn't taken until we'd been there an hour, although it wasn't busy, and when it came it was disappointing, with tough roast potatoes, unappetising looking nut roast and macaroni cheese that had not been browned on top. On the plus side, the staff were friendly, but I think we will go somewhere else next time.

Went to the Bull Sunday just gone for a friend's leaving do. Was very excited to order a roast as It's my favourite meal. Incredibly disappointing I'm afraid. There was lots of meat (in this case beef) but it wasn't very flavoursome and far too over cooked for my liking. Potatoes were really hard and inedible. The peas were a weird colour and texture, I think they were from a tin. Yorkshire pudding was clearly bought in and had a weird chemical taste. Only decent bit was the veg and the portion of that was a tiny dish between 2. Gravy was tasteless and thin, clearly a cheap granule based thing. Won't be eating there again! I don't know why people buy a restaurant when they aren't going to take any pride in the food they serve. I would have been ashamed to serve it to a friend for free let alone the £9 or so I paid. :( bad bad bad

We stopped here today.... Just passing really. The Decor was reasonable, I say reasonable as there were signs that areas are currenly being refurbed so my review does not relate to the Pub itself.... Although when completed its got great potential. When I go to a restaurant I expect service to be professional and formal but with a pub, even if I'm eating I'm looking for a nice relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The pub was quieter than I had expected being a very warm Saturday afternoon but I was greeted out the front by the Barman or owner? He was out talking with his customers, he was polite, friendly and even though this was my first time I straight away felt relaxed, almost as if I was a regular!Drinks were prompt and food was served in a reasonable time.... We were not rushed and felt we had all evening if we wanted. The food was nice, well presented and plenty of it, My Son is 10, we always worry that the kids menu isn't enough but we needn't have worried.I'm definately going to visit again to sample the rest of the menu.If I was going to be picky I would like to see more variety in the desert menu / board and maybe a curry? There is a kids play area and unlike many of the bigger pubs nowadays they do allow dogs.I'm not going to go into any detail but I was also very impressed with the generosity of the Barman /owner towards another Gentleman who was dining. You don't see things like that too often nowadays, made me want to go out and do something nice for someone :-)

First visit was to meet with friends for lunch. The exterior did not look promising but that was irrelevent once we sat in the pleasant, quiet garden (which has a timber climbing frame for kids). I had a baguette which was really good value - a large lovely BLT with masses of nicely cooked chips and a salad - for 6.95 - it was like the good old times again - simple, but decent food at non-inflated prices. I liked it it so much I went back the next day to show my husband - and he was equally impressed with the baguettes then too.

Fresh veg was serve d/ in a a small digs (in fairness veg was nicely cooked). However, having walked into the bar and read the menu, I arranged for a group of 12 to dine there on a Wednesday evening. We walked around the country lanes first, making it a pleasant evening out. The pub has a large car park. For anyone wanting to travel by bus, the stop on the Maidstone - Tonbridge route is right outside. Inside the pub has a traditional feel with a large fireplace, wooden beams and traditional furnishing. I originally requested the Garden room as it is at the back and has a nice outlook but the size of the party meant we had to be placed in the main room, which was fine.We were all adults but the nice (lower level) garden room and garden at the rear of the pub means that families can be catered for. I spotted a stash of high chairs in a corner. Toilets were on the upper level and access for those less able was fine (though you would have to ask about wheelchairs). The menu was standard pub fair at reasonable prices - with a Wednesday special of steak and chips at about £8.00. We did not have to pre-order the meals but I booked in the number in advance. The service was good and all meals arrived in quick succession. Portion sizes were good and everyone was very pleased with the meal they had chosen. The staff achieved a good balance of attentiveness without being intrusive and were very helpful in sorting the bill for the group. I do hope this is the start of a better time for this very pretty and historical pub on the outskirts of town.We certainly had a very good evening and I plan to introduce another group to the Bull at Barming very soon.

Been coming here every May Day for 20 years to celebrate a local folk group. Same day same time. This year waited 20 mins to get a drink, tables were filthy and uncleared. I think there is a staffing problem here I.e not enough. Think will look elsewhere next year.

As I no longer live in UK the one thing I miss is Pubs and Pub food. This is a great example of the tradition of having a drink and food. I had steak and chips as that was the special on the day I visited and it was very good. Only complaint I have is the medium I ordered turned out to be more on the well done side but I find that normal in the UK.

Food is what you expect from a pub. Very reasonably priced and very warm and friendly. Nice play area for the kids to keep them occupied whilst waiting for food. Would happily visit again.

Phoned the day before and was told that we didn't need to book a table in order to eat, yet the following day we turned up and was refused food as we hadn't booked a table, even though we were told not to book the day before, wasn't able to book one there and then either, staff weren't accommodating and actually quite rude. We ended up going to the fish & chips

Chilston Manor hotel is a lovely hotel with friendly staff but I and my husband were very disappointed with what they call a luxury afternoon tea…we had three little finger sandwich's with hardly any filling in them….dry scones…what was nice was the sausage roll,we had to ask for the tea as it didn’t arrive, when it did it was stewed & strong…will be returning NO !!!!

What a dirty horrible place everything seems and feels grimly. No body clearing tables. And some staff training in customer service wouldn’t go a miss.

UPDATE… This store has been run into the ground, the lovely staff members have all left, one very nice young man “sacked” for a pathetic reason. We now go to Sainsbury’s and buy large rolls and fillings and make our own. What can one say.... it’s a big roll with filling. Staff mostly friendly. Can run low on fillings towards the end of the day.
