Patisserie Valerie - Maidstone in Maidstone

Enjoyed an afternoon tea with the family here - nice sandwiches, scones and cakes. Good and tidy decor with really friendly staff. Would visit more if it wasn't quite so pricey.

It is a little bit expensive but oh so worth it the cakes are delicious and a very nice latte to go with it too 😍

Had a rather nice cream tea here the tea was superb and not made from the usual tea bag but made with old fashioned leaves and there was three cups in each pot the scone was hot n buttery and full of fruit. A rather pleasant experience

Lovely staff, but my fruit was not washed, and some were mouldy!

Lovely fresh food and great tea. As always irresistible cakes to bring home for the family. Got an afternoon tea to look forward to again soon.

All the staff are friendly, they go out of their way to help you. Lovely armosphere, food its lovely and generous portion sizes.

Visited Patisserie Valerie on Fremlin Walk at the weekend for an afternoon tea with my family. Whilst most of the staff were pleasant and accommodating, we found one lady (black hair, European accent) to be rude and abrasive. After purchasing an additional slice of chocolate cake, which we found to be terribly dry, we returned it to the counter and were met with disdain. Initially, we were told "it's not dry, I felt it myself" - I hope this does not mean she is touching each individual slice of cake directly. When we stated that it was, in fact, dry, she remarked "Well, I'm not giving you your money back". When we stated we wanted a replacement of a different type of cake, she was ruder still, dismissive, and almost threw the replacement slice at us. I've worked in food service, and her attitude was repugnant. There is no call to be so rude to customers, and dismissive of their complaints, particularly when they are not being rude to staff. I would like to add, the rest of the staff were delightful and the overall atmosphere was great. It was a busy store, the food was lovely, and, other than that interaction, the visit was pleasant overall. It pains me to give a low Service score, but I cannot overlook the attitude of the lady at the register.

Went in to order a couple of slices of cake to take home for teatime. Unfortunately when I returned home and unpackaged the cake it was stale. They charge a premium for cake so I find this completely unacceptable. I think they give customers who takeaway the stale cakes while the customers who dine in get the fresh ones. I won’t be returning.

I enjoy drinking here with my friend we have coffee and hot chocolate that I do enjoy, it is a great shop if you get the right member of staff, if you get a newer number who doesn't know what they are doing and comes across rude it can ruin the experience.

I visited the Valerie patisserie in London and was expecting something similar when I walked into the Maidstone store, which is completely different to the stores I have visited before. Sad place, outdated furniture, no music. I was served a stale cake with rotten strawberries on top, which I asked to change and received the same cake. I showed this piece of cake to the waiter and asked if she would eat it, and she said - but it was not moldy. Really? I'm not a picky eater or one to complain without reason, but this was too much. The staff is friendly, there is nothing to complain about and I think it’s not their fault that they have to sell expired (it seems to me) products. please do something about this.

first visit to patisserie valerie for an afternoon tea we was gifted for christmas.Entered into a lovely relaxed setting and natalie the waitress who looked after us was absoluetly brilliant and a 100% proffesional in both service and making us welcome.The food was lovely enjoyable and compliments to the chefs for this.We will most certainly be coming back after the wonderful expirence today

Lovely food and very clean, staff very polite, just waiting for the food to arrive was a little slow bearing mind the cafe wasn't full, that the only fault l can give.

Had a lovely afternoon tea which was very filling! And I have to mention all of the people working in this store are super polite and friendly. Have been here a couple of times and definitely would come back again.

Went with my sister we had a wonderful couple of hours. Service was fantastic as were cakes and sandwiches. Would recommend this to anybody to give as a gift. Well done Maidstone staff.

Excellent service, employees were very nice, but the food was so disappointing and over priced. My avocado on toast was tepid, watery, had a paper thin layer of avocado, salad was wilted and unseasoned, and it cost 8.25£!!!!

Okay so after having to wait 30 minutes for our chicken wrap it came and looked like half a wrap, definitely not worth £8. The traditional lemonade was literally water with lemon syrup and didn't taste like much. Don't recommend this place at all

First time I've been to this shop where the staff were very attentive and the drinks and cakes were amazing whilst being very reasonable price. Would definitely visit this shop again.

Visited here on the 12th April, service was slow but friendly. We were told that some of the menu was not available due to a trainee chef being in situ. I ordered the salmon salad. At the time the salad looked and tasted ok, a bit oily and nothing special but ok. When we left I had a strange metalic taste in my mouth but thought it would pass. Within an hour and a half I was experiencing severe stomach cramps to the point I asked my friends to take me home. Once home I experienced several severe bouts of diarrhea. I spent the rest of the day/evening feeling sick, going hot and cold and in pain. Other people in the establishment that day had complained about their food. I won't be going back. I have messaged them twice with no response.

Just had smashing afternoon tea, served by Natalie with wonderful Customer Service, an asset to the Cafe. It was lovely & fresh & tasty with unlimited coffee.

Came today ordered a fig and bri Baguette, priced £4.95 but the waiter changed me 2 pound extra and said it was tax !! Its seems weird to me , ... tax us usually included in the price I'm will never come here again

Very clean. The food was tasty. The staff are very friendly. There are now 2 toilets open as a few weeks ago it was just the one toilet.

When it's nice you do it twice. Had another treat at Patisserie Valerie but this time at Maidstone. The cheesecake was so good didn't get a chance to take a photo. Enjoyed it with hot chocolate.

Food is lovely but the service is absolutely abysmal

Very expensive. Hubby had a poached egg on cheese toast with salad - £9.25!!!! My baguette was 7.95, again expensive!! Cappuccino and hot chocolate were good. 👍

The smashed avo eggs Florentine are a must try. Delicious (and very heavy) pancakes. Friendly staff. Cozy indoor setting.

We have enjoyed two of their beautiful gateaux, also the afternoon tea. Just right for special occasions, flavourful and not too sweet, cakes made with love ! Check ingredients first if you are prone to allergens

The staff are lovely. The food is very tasty. They are taking all the covid rules very seriously . The entrance and exit can get congested. You are better off signing in outside using the tables.

Not vegan choices , my friend ordered a bagel and asked to be heated, they literally put on the microwave therefore the bagel was hard, the staff didn't explain before hand that their kitchen was closed so this why they had to heat the bagel sandwich in the microwave. One of the staff was a bit abrupt, not sure she was nervous or stressed out, but the place was hardly busy , so no reason for the rudeness..

The wife and I came in for breakfast which consisted of eggs benedict and coffee. The food was of a mediocre standard, quite disapointingly tasteless, the hollandaise sauce, for example, was out of a packet. Coffee was good and service was also good.

We went for brunch - a present from family. The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. The food was freshly cooked, very generous portions, and tasty. I've only ever been for cream teas and cakes before, which are amazing. I would recommend this place for any type of food, anytime.

Very poor service eating in, and abhorrent public health safety. They employ a stringent exercise with track and trace registering, but otherwise they seem oblivious to even the basic hygiene standards. We wanted to sit outside, but as it transpired the staff never had the time to clean the tables unless someone specifically asked to, people in the end have been cleaning their own as best they could, no sanitiser etc. Yet the waitress wouldn't take my order at the till until I successfully registered with track and trace and my mobile connection was failing, no sympathy there, and a large queue formed behind. In the meantime someone else took the table they cleaned for us, and the staff proceeded with serving them with our drinks while we were waiting for one more table to be cleaned. When we pointed out the mistake they just moved the drink that was untouched to another ( dirty ) table, after the other customer have had it in front of her for a few minutes. I had to insist that they finally clean the table for us, after waiting for more than half an hour outside (on a chilly autumn day) and asked to replace the coffee previously served to another customer and now cold - the waitress asked me why?!? The table was eventually cleaned and the cakes and new drinks finally arrived after nearly an hour to and fro , the waiter apologised for the mistake, but the experience was very much spoiled. If i didn't pay in advance we'd have walked away as we were getting so annoyed by the whole thing. Next time will stick with the trusted Costa or Paul if it is a special occasion.

Very disappointed. Ordered the afternoon tea for 2 for £28, definitely not worth the price. The sandwiches were either very bland or crazy fillings that we couldn't even figure out what it was but it was disgusting. Will be going else where in future.

Crepes were clearly microwaved and dry, pretty depressing in size and quality. Iced tea literally a cold tea in a Latte glass with a bit of lemon in it; milkshakes no better than a Nesquick sachet in milk. Staff seems lost and confused, not very welcoming. I've never eaten in a Patisserie Valerie before, but I don't see what the attraction is to return.

Awful! Absolutely lawful service! I placed an order for a specific cake for two days after I ordered it and was told yes no problem that will be ready for you and took my number. Got there on the day (today) and time I was told to come to find out they don’t even have that cake there or my order. I am so upset by the awful service I received as the cake was for my mother who is shielding and hasn’t been able to get out of the house for the past months.

Average Tea. Scones were like baked buns. Cakes were not appealing. Sandwiches ok.

We had a standard afternoon tea voucher from Groupon. We popped in about 11.30am just to ask about booking and sandwich fillings. The lady we spoke to explained that the afternoon tea didn't start till noon then she spoke us through the sandwich fillings. We then asked about swapping the salmon and cream cheese for more of another. Her response was "I dont care about that at the moment as your not coming in to eat yet....." and walked off. If we didnt have the voucher we wouldnt of come here to eat. We went off and returned an hour later. We were served by a pleasant young gentleman and was happy to swap the salmon sandwiches. The drinks were hot and the afternoon tea arrived promptly, but then we were disappointed again. When my partner picked up his chicken and pesto sandwich it had a small piece of salmon on it!!! Now my main concern is what if he had a fish allergy. Do they not use separate knives? Is this a cross contamination issue?

Great ambience with great old fashioned waitress service. This makes it a nicer place to have a catch up with friends over a coffee/tea and a small bite to eat.

I went here for Afternoon tea as I had a voucher for my birthday, I took a friend on a Saturday late afternoon.

Had some breakfast here. Overpriced imo, but it's a chain so not really this particular café's fault. But did quality could be better. Everything was just a bit 'meh' for the price we were paying! Loads of space though, so good for big parties I guess.

Tea for two was delicious, fresh and plenty of variety. Service from Natalie was excellent. She was friendly, efficient and professional. Would definitely recommend

The service was good, fast and very accurate, I entered to buy a take away cake since was my birthday, sadly they did not have many to sell in that moment but the lady at the till was helpful, she took the catalog and show me the pictures with the description. I had to buy separate portions of chocolate cake and made a cake. It was not that great, I have found it a bit dry, maybe it was not fresh since my birthday is the 2nd of January. I considered a bit overpriced the cakes for the size of portions. The prices of the candles are expensive as well a packet of 4 for £3,79

I have been there about four times since it opened and was looking forward to a first afternoon tea for three of us on a Friday afternoon. I was quite shocked to find a bare window display and just a few sad looking and expensive patisseries inside. Gone were those gorgeous continental delights. The coffee was good. I had expected a continental themed tea (miniatures of their previously lovely cakes) but the pastries on offer were tasteless. The scones and jam were nice. The sandwiches included one dried up slice of white bread, not good! The teenagers I was with didn't want to make a fuss so we kept quiet. I will go back to this or another branch but only if the nice cakes are on offer...especially la tarte aux framboises!

My 2 year old son was drinking juice from a glass with lipstick.

I am very disappointed. Cakes are half the size and the prices doubled. Not to mention the taste is not what it was before. If there was 0 stars that would be mi rating.

Been going to this restaurant for years but not anymore. If you try to go anytime within an hour of closing you will be told you cannot sit anywhere near the window, you will have people cleaning the floor and the tables all around you spraying chemicals everywhere and you will have to put up with the doors being open while they drag tables and chairs in from outside. All this is so the staff can lock up and leave as soon as closing time comes and to hell with any customers trying to relax with a coffee.

Lovely breakfast food and drinks. Has a nice little atmosphere and truly enjoyed stopping here for brunch with my friends. I really enjoyed my food, the presentation the taste and quality. Overall a very pleasant afternoon.

Great afternoon tea lovely coffee

It was a sunny late September afternoon and decided to take a shopping break and have a coffee break. We sat outside and although it was very windy it was still quite pleasant (other than the chain smokers) and a sunnier spot than adjacent Costa. Ordered inside and the friendly Polish? Waitress table served. Although we weren’t particularly hungry - the apple cake caught our eye and so we each had a slice - tasty! Although I’m not a fan of chain coffee shops, it’s good to see the majority of Patisserie Valerie outlets still seem to be going strong - choice is always good!

It's unwise to think that Patisserie Valerie has simply vanished. It hasn't and units that remain open (and intend to remain open, according to what our friendly young Polish waitress told us) are still firing on all cylinders. If anything, the staff are even more attentive than before (events in the recent past having given them an undeserved shock), and the Patisserie dishes and cakes are still in a class of their own.

Extremely friendly staff and delicious food

Not the best value for money but the pastries are delicious. Outdoor seating to people watch. Just wish they had a no smoking rule for the patio.

There was four of us this afternoon. Two of us chose the afternoon tea and the other two had meals off the Brunch menu. All good and drinks were fabulous! Natalie served us from start to finish and made us feel very at home! She even asked if we wanted our photo taking when our food came out - very polite and attentive (but not over the top like other places can be) I will definitely be returning very soon everything was perfect!

A little bit shocked that the selection of their cakes was very poor. Normally its great and you cant decide. Probably just a one off shortage...Might check it out later and will write a new review if this changes. Otherwise the staff is very kind.

I had a voucher for afternoon tea for two. The food was very fresh,and we had a pot of tea. Natalie was our waitress,she was very polite and attended to all our needs,nothing was too much trouble We could have had more tea,coffee or hot chocolate.Restaurant was very clean,all in all a nice experience,will go again. Thank you Patisserie Valerie.
