The Oak on the Green in Maidstone

We both had lunch and had the crispy Brie starter which was excellent. I had the very cheese burger and my wife had the bbq burger with back bacon. Loads of chips and beer battered onion rings. Excellent is all I can say but my personal preference would have been to have a had less chips. The burgers were nice and thick and very good quality. We both plumped for the Eton mess strawberry cheesecake which tasted homemade. At the moment it was all table service but all available tables for booking were occupied which just shows how popular this place is. Excellent food and excellent service. We will be back soon.

On holiday in the area for a week from South Wales We had booked this restaurant on recommendations of reviews we weren’t disappointed the service was amazing the only thing I would have liked is that they had updated to tell customers that it was a reduced menu I was going out for a steak but never the less very enjoyable thank you .Debbie

My wife and I ate at this PH a couple of times and found it very satisfactory. The food was very nice (Pub Food) and the service was excellent, I wouldn't hesitate to return to this pub/restaurant as the atmosphere was also very nice. It's always booked up, so that must tell you something.

So this was the first family meal out since lockdown began back in March 2020. Having eaten here on numerous occasions before and never having any issues, I thought we couldn’t go wrong. Kids were excited, hell we were excited, we got to go out to eat! I knew in advance that they had changed the menu or limited to food on offer which which is fine but if your going to do that make sure what you serve is top notch. What did we order? I chose the chicken, bacon and leek pie, child 1 had the crock pot, child 2 the kids burger and husband also had a burger. The only person that enjoyed their meal was child 1.My pie was tasteless, the chicken was dry and I mean DRY and one point I couldn’t even bite through it (which led me to spit it out into tissue lovely) I had all of two massive dry chunks of bacon and very little sauce in the pie.....did I mention it was dry? The rest of the bowl was filled with mash (which was fine) and hard peas and literally 4 slices of carrot and minimal gravely. Now I never ever complain about anything I’m a “shut my mouth and don’t complain, otherwise they will spit on my dessert sort of person” but I was not about to pay £15 for eating a pile of mash. The girl was very polite and said I should of said when someone checked on us as they would of replaced it. Well that would of also of been fine had someone of checked on us. Child 2 and husband said the burgers were too cooked and child 2 didn’t bother eating it. Now I get this is a gastro pub and pub food is pub food but to prevent anyone enduring the same DO NOT HAVE THE PIE or burger. The fajitas looked nice coming out. Unfortunately I’m also a “one bad experience, will never return sort of person” so that will be the last time I visit the Place.

Enjoyed a great afternoon in a welcoming, comfortable and safe environment. The food, Cajun chicken salad, was delicious and excellent value

So good to see the Oak open again and to see friendly faces! Went for lunch with a friend last week and had the Halloumi wrap with a banoffee pie to follow. Massive portions which I love! Staff where always on to hand if I needed anything, clean and Covid friendly with the correct measures in place. Will be there again soon! Thanks :)

Couldn't recommend the Oak enough. Paul and his staff are always one step ahead. Food is always outstanding and the service is just as good. Made a last minute decision to go therefore didn't book, but they still managed to fit me in even though it seemed to be so busy. There's a number of other restaurants to go to locally, but I always choose the Oak as you never leave dissatisfied.

Visited the Oak on Monday the opening of indoor dining , so great to be back at our local , everything was as good as ever , food great and staff always so friendly and accommodating , looking forward to many more visits over the coming weeks, great to see Paul and his team again

We caught up with our family here last night for dinner. Staff were efficient and friendly. Menu selection was alright. We had mains of scampi, burger, ribeye and fajitas with mushrooms.Would have loved to give a 5 star rating but the burger and ribeye could do better. Though overall a pleasant experience. Thank you!

Great food, excellent service and delightful to be back indoors at The Oak! We visited on the evening of Monday 17 May, the day that pubs and restaurants were permitted to serve indoors once again. Upon entering we were escorted to our table following the one-way system used to reduce congestion, and it worked well. Our drink orders were taken and menus and wine lists proffered including a bin-ends list of wines which we took up on. There were 6 in our party and only 2 of us had starters, the Chilli Nachos and Calamari, both good. The mains included burgers, Chilli Crockers, Cajun Chicken Salad and Chicken Pie, cleared plates all round.The service throughout was totally COVID-19 compliant and made everyone feel secure in the surroundings. A big thank you to the management team and waiting staff on their professionalism.All agreed it was a welcome return to eating out and we all look forward to our next visit.

Our first trip back to the pub and it didn’t disappoint. Chairs and tables set out really well with plenty of space in-between, service and food was terrific. My daughters had the legendary fajitas which were huge and both our Cajun salad and steak were just brilliant. Such a brilliant friendly welcoming pub. Thank you team Oak.

We just visited the Oak on the Green for the second time in a fortnight and had the grill Cajun chicken salad (again!) It was the best salad I've ever had and I rarely order salad when out dining. We had one each and shared a side of house fries. It was more than enough for a healthy appetite and absolutely delicious in the bargain. We will definitely be back.

Very popular place and you can easily see why, good service, varied menu both for food and wine. Portions huge so that went down well with rugby players in our family. Would definitely recommend and will be back

The ftw and I had just enjoyed a morning stroll and popped in to the Oak to see if it was possible to have an pre-lunch aperitif. We were greeted by Paul the manager and after explaining that we only wanted to have a drink he sat us down and advised us of the guest ales, allowed me a sample and I had a very nice couple of pints (not driving has its upside) whilst the ftw had a couple of glasses of Sauvignon Blanc. Set us up nicely for our roast that was cooking whilst we enjoyed our pub-time. Made for a lovely start to our relaxing Sunday.

We decided to go for a family meal on Sunday night. Fantastic atmosphere, amazing food- portion sizes great and so tasty. Would recommend to everyone looking for a night out

Visited today with my partner and got the instant feeling of the place being very overrated! We visited on recommendation and from the moment the unhappy waitress greeted us we regretted the choice. The waitress grunted at us the whole time and clearly didn’t want to be there. She practically threw the cutlery at us. The food was not up to standard, my partners starter was underwhelming with a wilted salad and 4 bits of cauliflower. Wont be visiting again.

What a great night. Great service, food and ambience, especially within Covid rules. I had the porterhouse medium rare and it was superbly flame grilled with a nice bearnaise sauce on the side. My partner had the mushroom fajita served on a dramatic ornate iron plate with multi choice fillers. Kids thought burgers better than McD’s and kept them quiet. Great night had by all

Very accompanying friendly venue. When we arrived we were pleased to see the efforts they have done to make every safe at this time. Staff were friendly, and cheerful. Food was great and the price was good too. Well worth a visit.

Absolutely enjoy so much everytime we visit here! The food is simply amazing, bought to the table piping hot, generously portioned & so delicious! Service is also excellent! One of the best points is that you leave feeling absolutely full which is pretty rare in a lot of other Restaurants! Always highly recommend to everyone!

Went for a (belated) birthday meal with my girlfriend, the staff were very attentive and friendly. They made sure had drinks etc and asked how our food was. We ate the nachos and special garlic bread to start and had Fajitas and Gastro Ribs for Main which were both fantastic, we finished off with Banoffee pie. The portions are enormous but you can’t complain about that!!! Also a nice selection of beers that you don’t get in other pubs.

Me and my family came here the other week to celebrate my mum and dads birthday. Our food was lovely and the service was amazing.

Seemed like they had adapted well to table service. Efficient welcome and check in. Well spaced tables inside and some outside but was a bit chilly. Good range of ales. Food looked lovely - must go back

Food was very good and the service was excellent. We arrived a little early and were directed to a table in the bar where we had a drink while waiting. When we went through to the restaurant the table was far too small for our group of 4 and juggling various dishes and wine bucket made things awkward but as I said the food was good and the service excellent.The one big issue with us are the toilets, which wère dirty when we used them on our arrival and still dirty when we used them before we left. The gents urinal is not fit for purpose in this day and age. Apart from anything else Covid 19 can be transferred in urine and as the toilets, handles, taps etc had not be cleaned in a very long time in the ladies or gents, this is a very real concern.

Great food yesterday......exactly what we expect in here. Covid compliance was brilliant, we had an elderly friend with us who get very safe and secure. Screens have been erected, sanitiser is present, drinks served to minimise contact. It was a pleasure all round. The pork was very good indeed!

Food and drinks were nice. Good cleaning measures and tables spaced. Staff too close to tables, shouting over food. No masks or gloves by staff. Didn't feel safe with elderly mother in there

Yet another fantastic meal here, would highly recommend the fajitas which are just incredible. Very large portions.

Beef burger decent, chicken burger was tiny for £12, and fell apart as over sauced. Chips were greasy and just thrown on. Garlic bread was slabs of bread(need to be cut). Coleslaw heavy on mayo. Nachos were really poor quality for £11. Kids fish and chips seemed good but carrots were old. I actually found it very frustrating.l, as Lacked love, passion and attention to detail. Maybe look at products using.I did give feedback, manager appreciated and agreed they fell short with some aspects. Disappointing as every time ive eaten here with my kids before and has been good. It wouldn’t put me off coming back. Service from waitress was good.If service was bad definitely wouldn’t of returned.

Went here for an evening meal and can say there was no disappointment. Waiter was great and the food was delicious and full of flavour.

I came to the Oak with a couple of friends for lunch. Although the menu is a little smaller than of old, there is still a great choice and you can choose from either the main menu or lunchtime menu with some lighter options. I had a House burger which was excellent and a couple of Bear Island IPAs. The service was spot on and the bill was good too as I used my Birthday Club voucher to get one of the main courses for free! Altogether, a 5 star experience.

We have used the Oak many times, a last minute decision to go out to eat today and didnt think we would get a table at The Oak. We were lucky the manager gave us a table and commented that the area we sat in would be ideal as we had children with us.The staff were attentive, the food didn't disappoint, a thoroughly excellent afternoon spent, thank you again to Paul and the team for a chilled afternoon. All socially distanced markings were clearly visible.

Had dinner there last night. A great rustic, family pub, the staff were all helpful, attentive and friendly. Their COVID plan was excellent, with a one way system and a thorough clean of the tables and surrounding area between customers. We both had the ribs and can recommend, great ribs and chips. Will be going back soon.

Everyone was extremely accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were very friendly as soon as we arrived everyone was helpful and made sure the table was suitable as we had children with us. Our food came out very quickly and didn’t disappoint. Can’t wait to go back as we had a very enjoyable day experience!!

We recently visited The Oak on the Green in a last minute decision to take advantage of the 'Eat out to help out' scheme, and to celebrate a family birthday. Although we had not booked, and the restaurant was very busy, the manager bent over backwards to accommodate us and shuffled some tables to make room for us in the bar area, without infringing upon the one way social distancing floor markings.The meal itself was excellent, and served by a handful of lovely waiting staff who couldn't have been more helpful.Everyone in our group had the perfect evening and were made to feel very welcome and completely safe, without the very clear and appropriate covid restrictions detracting from our experience. We will certainly be back.

This place is gradually getting worse. It used to be top notch. After visiting today this will be my last visit to the oak on the green. Long wait for drinks, then a long wait until they took the order for starters. Starters were nice but then a real long wait for mains, so long that I had to ask if it would be much longer. Mains were nice when they eventually arrived. Then we seemed to be forgotten about by the very few waitresses. Had to ask for the dessert menu, then nobody returned to take the order for ages. By the time they arrived to take the dessert order I’d had enough and asked for the bill instead. Once they gave me the bill we were forgotten about again. So I had to go to the bar to pay otherwise who knows how long we would have been there. Nice food. Shocking service, needless to say, no tip and no return.

Great lunch, foid hot and tasty, staff friendly. Loved our dogs. Distancing measures are in place dedpite what another reviewer said. Quite busy but staff coped. Some customers ignored the rules regarding what door to go in and out of even though its clearly marked. No need to wear masks in a restaurant so no need for the staff to, they asked for plates to be passed etc and did not get close to us, drinks served at the table. Nothing whatsoever to complain about.

I took my four grandchildren to lunch at the Oak on the Green today. I am approaching 70 and therefore classed as vulnerable to the virus. If it hadn't been for the fact that I was limited on time and had no wish to disappoint the children, I would have walked out and gone somewhere else. None of the waiters, waitresses or manager was wearing a mask or visors, no temperatures were taken on arrival and we were given no instructions as to hand sanitizers or for completion of track and trace forms, although on the way out we noticed they were on a table in the foyer. The waitresses leaned over us with the food, the cash machine and drinks. and their faces were inches from us. The place was heaving with people passing in all directions and, all in all, it felt very unsafe. As a rider to that, the food was good but I do think the management have let their customers down

Little midweek meal for the eat out help out scheme, food was lovely and service was very good considering how busy it was, highly recommend the ribs and the banoffee pie! Would recommend!

We had lunch here today, the service was great, the food lovely and the Oak is in a lovely location. Definitely give it a try if your in the area.

We were lucky to get in as we had not made a reservation. On top of this it was a Tuesday which is an eat out to help out scheme day.On arrival we were greeted and told we could eat inside or outside. It had been a very hot day so we decided to eat outside. The waitress soon came and took our drinks order. When she returned our food order was taken. There is a fair choice, most main courses are around the £15 mark.We both ordered the Chicken Bacon and Leek Pie. The pie was delicious, highly recommended, all home cooked.Overall, really enjoyed my first visit, and will hopefully return in the near future, and with the 50% off, it made the eating all the more enjoyable.

So glad oak on the green is reopened. Going here on the 4th August for my birthday. There food is always lovely. Never had a bad meal or service here it does the best steak I have ever had and I’ve eaten a lot of steak at a lot of places and this place is the best. See you soon

It’s great to see our local back open again since the easing of lockdown restrictions. We had a fantastic family lunch which everyone really enjoyed! Although the menu is slightly restricted for obvious reasons there is still a good selection of meals to choose from. Paul was excellent as always, he moved table bookings around in order to fit us in safely. The staff were great as they always are and the one way system complete with sanitise stations around made us all feel very safe. Well done guys, it’s great to be back!

Have already visited the Oak twice since it reopened this week , slightly reduced menu but still lots to choose from , the food was excellent as always and the measures put in place in regards to social distancing were really good , you did not feel too restricted but you also felt safe , well done to Paul and all his team we are so pleased that our local is up and running again.

Brilliant lunch on 1st day reopening after lockdown. Excellent food as usual & felt very safe. All safety procedures being followed. Highly recommended. Usual friendly team including the banter from manager Paul. Fantastic place to visit.

Went for lunch today (20th July ) for the reopening, all safety measures in place, social distancing, hand sanitisers, one way system. Disposable menus etc. The waiting staff were amazing and the food was top notch. Book on line and all your details are saved so no need to give them when you check in. All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Visited today as part of a group of 6. I had requested a quiet corner as this was a family get together after a recent bereavement, and we were in a great position. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing, the table was ours all afternoon, and we didn’t feel rushed. Will definitely return, thank you to all the team

Attended today with 8 family members for a double birthday (husband and his nan).Arrived and seated promptly and drinks order taken. Drinks came in around 5 minutes. We has the same waitress for the whole meal.Very satisfied with length of time between orders and food arriving. She was very attentive and friendly. My husband and father in law has steak which they asked for medium. When the waitress asked if our food was ok we just mentioned that the steak was a little over cooked buy not enough to warrant or being returned to the kitchen. She went and told the chef and a 10% refund was added to those meals. Been here a few times and always had a nice meal.

Had a fantastic meal here this afternoon. My slow cooked pork was just amazing, absolutely delicious. Service was prompt and unassuming, atmosphere was buzzy and the whole place looked great. Looking forward to going back soon.

Good pub grub! A lovely pub with a good menu and decent food, set in a lovely area. Not a ‘posh’ restaurant setting but good quality food in a nice pub environment.

Booked up a birthday lunch at very late notice, having been let down at short notice. Was persuaded to go to the oak on the green as it came highly recommended. Was told prior to going, that the portions were very large, but didn’t quite believe it. On arrival the staff were very welcoming, and let us pick our own table which was very nice.Having ordered our starters which came in good time, and off excellent quality, we were ready for our main meals. On the waitress bringing them out, I had to take a second look, as I previously mentioned were huge!!After battling through, which wasn’t a chore, I couldn’t stomach a desert, but did finish off with a lovely cocktail.All in all, this was a lovely date, and can without a doubt say I will be returning.Keep up the good work!!

Large good quality portions of food. Excellent quality. Staff attentive and friendly. We only had a light lunch but will return for a main meal.

Had a family meal here for 6 of us.Big improvement on our previous visit.The food was good but the big improvement was the service.The waitress this time was attentive and welcoming.Nothing was too much trouble and all our requests were met with a smile.

I was treated to a meal out by my daughter who recommended this restaurant. I was not disappointed as the service I received from joining the birthday club to eating in the restaurant was first class from beginning to end. I emailed Megan after making a mistake with my registration and all was rectified within 24hrs, with a most pleasant return mail. We booked to eat at 19.00 on a Tuesday and I have never seen a pub so busy on a school night. That said it did not prevent us being professionally served and seated. The food was was exceptional and the service second to none. I recommend the Gastro Ribs (great portions) and the chicken burger was also superb in both taste and presentation. Alongside this the service from all the staff ( Lesley our waitress) as well, was polite, friendly and professional This is one establishment I will be returning to in the near future.

Just popped in on the off chance and managed to get a table in the bar light sharing starter of garlic bread and the steak and kidney pudding and pork for the mains. cheesecake and a cheese board for starters. all food was top notch and ample portions quite liked the bar table as no pressure to give the table up. The young waitress was really helpful and a great assett to the pub please ensure she gets the feedback

A frequent visitor of this restaurant no more - personally found the my experience on the 1.2.2020 ruined by the way my friends and I were greeted upon arrival. I have very little time for sh*t customer service and to be greeted in such an unwelcoming manor upon arrival will not change my mind about coming here again!

We went to the Oak on the Green for the first time in years. We had a voucher for the Shepherd Neame birthday club so got one of the meals free. The place is so cute and quaint. Perfect for a miserable Sunday afternoon. It was lucky we had booked as it was very busy but the service was still good and the food was amazing. I had a steak for the first time in years. I am very fussy with steak as I do not like to see blood but still want it to be juicy. The chef had achieved this and the chips were amazing!!!! The portions were extremely generous and everything was cooked to perfection. Will definitely return :)

We are regulars at this lovely village pub / restaurant , had the lamb curry tonight which is on the specials menu it was really lovely , my partner had the sausage and mash which is always good , great night and staff are so friendly we love it at the Oak , if you are in the area you must call in you will not be disappointed

We always enjoy eating here but yesterday’s meal was outstanding. Their mussels are excellent and so many of them. But the stand out was the Kashmiri lamb curry off the specials board. Wow. We’ll return just for that. Make sure the brewery let chef keep it on the menu! Service and ambience always great here too :)

Great food all round, cocktails were excellent! I Really enjoyed the mussels. We tried their cocktails for the first time, pornstar martini’s and the one with the amaretto and jaeger were so so nice.

Mid week in January it was pretty busy glad we booked a table. Fairly extensive menu, all cooked fresh. We had ribs loads of sauce, pork belly x 2 really well cooked and presented

Went for a family meal at the best pub in the Village tonight. As usual buzzing atmosphere, staff were so friendly, efficient, chatty and provided excellent service.

Came here today for my birthday with my mrs. She took me out as a treat. It was absolutely lovely, I had the ribs and she had the bangers and mash. It was amazing, the portion size was massive which I loved, and the quality of food was excellent. Honestly, the bangers and mash are the biggest most tastiest bangers you've had in your life!! The ribs were amazing aswell, melt in your mouth, falling off the bone no chewable fat what so ever. The staff were also, smiley, friendly and attentive. Can't wait to come back!!!

This pub restaurant is lovely. It has a really great atmosphere and a nice “oldy worldy” decor to it. The food is really yummy that comes out hot and in really big portions. I would say the menu is a little too big and contains so much food you struggle with what to choose off of it. Would be nice to see a menu a little more refined. Having said that, it’s a really great pub with great food and a lovely atmosphere.

This is a great place to eat and the service is impeccable. Great steaks, a little bit more expensive than other places but worth it

Another brilliant visit to The Oak on the Green, Bearsted. We wanted a light snack on Christmas Eve and had the best chicken wings, nachos and chips. Absolutely brilliant atmosphere and super service despite how busy it was. Thanks so much.

Late afternoon meal with the family. The service was efficient and friendly. Knowing how large the portions are, we opted to share 2 starters between the 4 of us. The mains of Skate, BBQ ribs, Fillet Steak and scallops and tiger prawns were all well cooked (again large portion sizes) and very tasty. Would highly recommend to everyone and will be returning soon, hopefully!

We came here for my mother-in-laws birthday, the food was amazing and the service was outstanding even though they had so many tables to deal with. We cannot fault the service nothing seemed too much trouble , we will definitely be going back!!!!

My family wanted to do something a bit special for my 60th birthday and this restaurant had come very highly recommended to my Eldest son who lives locally.

Haven’t been for a while but quality has dropped. Prawn cocktail contained 14, (yes I counted them as so few) tiny, supermarket economy size prawns, with 2 massive lettuce leaves and chopped lettuce underneath to fill the glass. Marie Rose was just cheap shop bought with absolutely no flavour or spicing. Burger over cooked and dry, chips over cooked and greasy. Wondered how it was possible for a table to be available so close to Christmas and obviously knowledge of the drop in quality is getting round.

Had a lovely night with the girls! Great food and service was absolutely brilliant we eat out a lot and tonight was the best service we have received this year!

The restaurant wasn’t too busy when we arrived, but there were a couple of Christmas Parties that arrives that pushed the volume up!

Having been let down by another local restaurant, our party of 8 arrived quite late on Saturday night. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and luckily for us, they had been let down with a booking which left them with a table for 8! We were dealt with promptly and efficiently and had a great meal at a reasonable price.

I have mixed feelings with this one. There’s something for everyone on the menu & it has a lovely country pub feel. The staff were lovely & service great, can you sense a but coming, BUT the portions sizes are just too big. Some people may see this as a bonus so if you like massive portions of good food this is the place for you. This seems like w weird complaint but personally I was done after the starter & only managed a bit of the main which was huge. It’s a shame because I felt that it spoilt the whole meal & I felt like I’d wasted my money. The rest of my group felt the same way so it’s not just me being a pedantic so & so. I would give 3.5 rating if I could.

Go here pretty frequently,of the group this is the better one .parking can be a problem here .Food is good as is the bar. If I was to recomend an improvement would be to add a few more beer choices maybe local brews .will I go again = of course

Not really a great fan of this restaurant but it was booked via another family member and thus visit confirms why I don’t go here! Service was good, drinks were good but the food was Not, Quite a few of us ordered burgers and they weren’t nice, dry and over cooked and not that warm either the steak was ok and portion sizes are plenty but the quality of the food is horrible.

We visited this pub after having lunch at the Fish on the Green next door (same company). Very good atmosphere and frequented by locals on a regular basis, which is a good thing. Dog friendly. Will go and eat there soon. It is interesting that this pub does not do a Sunday Roast lunch, nor is there any sign of Turkey on the Christmas menu. Very good service at the bar and friendly staff. A very good menu, catering for all tastes, including Vegetarian and Vegan.

Was really looking forward to an evening out with friends, enjoying a meal at The Oak on the Green.

We chose The Oak on the Green following reccomendations on Trip Advisor and we were not dissapointed. As soon as you walked in the place had the feeling of a quaint old English pub along with the feeling of quality. The food was exceptional and I would not hesitate to recommend to who is anywhere near to call in and sample the excellent cuisine. Thank you all at The Oak on the Green for such a lovely meal which really made my wife and I's first visit to Kent so memorable.

We visited for lunch, family and friends - 7 in the party. Good choices on menu plus Kids menu. The bacon Ceasar salad was dry though with no dressing. Burgers were good and also the bacon jacket bake.

Came here for a family Saturday lunch. The pub itself was cosy and had a good atmosphere. The service always came with a smile. The food was delicious and the portions were huge! The lemon meringue sundae was literally the size of a child’s head. Overall a great lunch! The bill at the end was a pleasant surprise too! We will definitely be coming back.

My partner and I met two friends for dinner here.

The ambience in this restaurant is really welcoming and homely, and the range and quality of the meals is great. I've now had the rib-eye on more than one occasion and found it to be great. Curried fish was odd to see in the 'pub classics' section, but was also a tasty dish.

8 of us visited with dogs and enjoyed esting outside. I enjoyed a blue cheese burger and my partner had sausage and mash - we both enjoyed and it's great to find somewhere that allow dogs in the bar and outside.

The food is excellent. You get alot for your money. Tables are a bit tight as close together. Will definitely return
