I’ve been coming to Pateley for years, and this place is getting worse. Whatever it likes to call itself, its not a pub or a restaurant or an Inn, It’s an outdoor bar/tent serving beer, with outdoor seating on tacky and sticky benches, and only serves food, through an outsourced street food caterer on Friday and Saturday nights. It has No website, just a FaceBook Page and It’s as though it’s not interested. Not much luck moving on to the Sportsman’s Arms which claims to be a pub/Hotel - that’s closed from Mondays to Wednesdays, despite the opening hours board outside the Hotel saying ‘open every day’. Its a cushy life in Yorkshire if you’re in the hospitality business.

It’s always a bit of a gamble going somewhere for Sunday lunch but we made the right decision choosing to eat here. It was lovely, pork was juicy and tasty with perfect crackling. Lovely selection of veg and giant Yorkshire pudding. Loads of gravy as well. We had cheesecake for dessert which came with strawberry ice cream. Cheesecake was great but the ice cream was exceptional. Everyone was really friendly. Would definitely return.

Sat outside on a dry Saturday afternoon (very rare at the moment!) Appeared to be only serving drinks at an outdoor bar which was fine. Had a full range of ales etc. Very friendly service. We didn’t have food but noticed they were serving Asian street food. Would go back and try the food next time. Recommended.

We looked at facebook and tripadvisor for opening times and checked they did food. After a walk down a busy road we found out they only serve food fri sat sun. There is no mention of this on line. When will business learn that if you want on line presence you need to keep it accurate and up to date? We went back into town and were looked after and fed at the royal oak.

Limited lunch menu with roast or scampi. Waited a while for a menu then even longer for a drinks order to be taken. Food arrived but not asked if wanted any sauces. Had asked if possible to have mash instead of roast potatoes as it was on the menu with the vegan option but didn’t arrive.

I read on Tripadvisor that this place was open. We came after going for a walk and we’re hoping for a bite to eat. They were not serving food. We stayed for a drink anyway. The lady at the bar was friendly and helpful. It was quiet but early evening. I’m guessing it may become quite busy at weekends as it had a nice big car park. We may come again when they are serving food. There were nice clean toilets. 😀

Ruined our evening: - We visited the pub with a climbing club (~20 people). Multiple people in the group were vegan and vegetarian. I ordered the vegan shepherds pie, which was very small and bland. It came with a small side of soggy, over cooked veg - two pieces of broccoli, two slices of carrot and two pieces of cauliflower. - I asked for a side of chips to bulk to it out. I was told the chips are cooked in the same oil as fish, so I passed. However, these chips are also served on the vegetarian dishes (with no disclaimer), despite not actually being vegetarian. - I was still hungry when I left and had to go to the shop for a snack. - Five other people had vegan or vegetarian dishes with a similar theme, a lot of us fed some of the food to our dogs because we didn’t like it. E.g. the vegetarian lasagne was a single sheet of pasta and cheese, covering a tomatoey sauce with carrots. - We wouldn’t have been so disappointed if the servings were at least filling or cheap. But the veg options were both equivalently expensive to meat (~£15) and substantially smaller. - I didn’t complain because I was with a group of people and didn’t want to make a fuss, but also I felt like I would receive conflict from the staff due to a previous interaction earlier in the night. - This was verified when a gentleman from our group mentioned to the barman that the veggie dishes weren’t up to scratch, the barman’s response was, ‘well they should have ordered the meat then’. - The same barman (tall and maybe in his 40’s) was also rude to me at the beginning of the night, when I asked, ‘could I try the ale?’ (I.e. have a taster), he replied, ‘yes, you can have a pint or a half’. You can probably see why I didn’t feel comfortable discussing the food! Overall, 6 of us ate veg options and all of us were disappointed. Each dish was ~£15 for small, poorly made food. I’m not being unrealistic to ask for decent quality vegetarian or vegan food, it’s 2022 and I don’t feel the rural location/community is an excuse either - I live in rural North Wales and never struggle. While it may found melodramatic, it ruined our day. We were knackered from climbing all day and we got an edgy vibe, small, not very tasty dishes that were over priced and we had to go elsewhere to top up our tummies.

You get in after texting your name to them, a member of staff quickly takes you to an available table. It was Saturday so quite busy leading a longish wait for the food. Telling us that there would be a wait would have been polite and appreciated. We opted for the gammon meal that was about £13 that was huge and tasty with lovely chips. We've been visiting Pateley Bridge for many years and The Bridge has certainly had its share of ups and downs but the current owners appear to have got everything right. During our five night stay in the town we visited three times, once for a drink, once for lunch and finally for a full blown evening meal. On each occasion we were impressed on every front. Covid precautions were being rigorously enforced yet in an understandable straightforward way. The inn has installed a canopy over many of its outside tables and there is an 'outside' bar where all drinks and 'light bite' orders are taken. Sandwiches are served in rigid cardboard boxes but this in no way detracts from the quality of the contents. The wholemeal roll was one of the best I've ever tasted. Congratulations to the baker responsible! Pork pies come from the local butcher and most things on the menu looked locally sourced where possible. In the evening we sat inside and were well looked after by the lovely friendly staff. My scampi was delicious - crisp, juicy and piping hot and the steak ordered by my partner cooked to perfection -meltingly pink inside. For those with a sweet tooth, the sharing plate of four puds was a delight...great sticky toffee pudding! The Bridge is now definitely on our list of favourite pubs and we can't wait to return when we're next in the area!

It's easy to just leave a five star review if you enjoyed somewhere but this place really is worth it. We visited as a couple on a Saturday lunchtime. The efforts that have gone into making the fantastic "indoors outside" bar area and making customers feel safe really deserve recognition.Despite it being busy, service was friendly, beers were good and the menu really had something for everyone. Beautifully presented, I had the Ploughman's - Pork pie, sausage rolls, cheese, salad, gerkins, pickled onions, chutney - not cheap stuff, these were top quality ingredients, it was really good value and beautifully presented. My partner had the "best ever fish butty" which was also spectacular. The chips deserve a special mention for being the best pub chips ever.I'd recommend making The Bridge the place to stop for a snack or something for special - you'll be well looked after.

The beer was great and well kept and the Covid restrictions easy to understand and workable. So many places make the new normal difficult but not the bridge it’s easy to understand and quick to be served. As for Sunday lunch it was great even my fussy son cleared his plate. We struggled to choose from the menu as everything sounded just what we were after and looked even better as we saw food being served. The food was perfect, hearty and plentiful, also well priced. The pale ale was spot on. What makes this place we felt were the friendly staff and jovial atmosphere. Friendly locals and new customers chatting and mixing well. Thanks folks, see you soon.

We went to the Bridge for a family meal .. all of us had two courses and everything on every plate was finished up. We had a cross section off the menu and all of it was fresh, well cooked with good portion sizes and lots of flavour .. the steak & Ale pie with Mash was sublime and the Deserts (especially Eton Mess) were top notch.. good value and would highly recommend

Great place to stop when the weather turned and too rainy for Brimham Rocks. Dog & Kid friendly, excellent pub grub and lovely staff, even recommend lots of places to visit for the kids

The pub was 10 minute walk from our camp site we were expecting good things because friends had recommended it. It surpassed our expectations both food wise and service. Jo, our waitress was attentive and extremely obliging. Listened to what we liked then recommended ideas.

We orders lasagne and a burger with 2 beers and a cider. Lovely meal but £5.10 for a pint of Peroni is pretty expensive! Nice meal, but average in comparison to other pub grub.

We often eat here and generally it’s good value and enjoyable. However every time we order steaks they are under done. I think it’s because they are stored very cold and not brought to room temp before cooking. This is a very basic mistake in cooking in my view. We now eat steaks elsewhere.

Ate here midweek early dinner as we were staying at nearby caravan park , it was very quiet we were the only ones there to eat. Took about half hr for food to arrive but well worth the wait as everything was so fresh, Both our meals were delicious couldn't fault a thing, I had chicken & my hubby had gammon, everything cooked to perfection, will Def return when in this area again, plenty of parking & dog friendly

We arrived at this lovely pub at lunchtime on the last day of our holiday. The place is absolutely spotless. The landlord was friendly, the beer was excellent (Timothy Taylor's Ram Tam), the food was delicious. What more could you ask for?

A gem of a pub with fantastic food. The menu is not vast but as Gordon Ramsey always says... Quality must reign over quantity. The food served was 10/10 and so good we went back again the next evening.

Visited on Good Friday evening. Managed to get a reservation at the last minute. It was extremely busy and there was a slight mix up over orders. We waited probably 30 odd minutes for our main course and had to alert the waitress who was extremely apologetic about the delay. The guy in charge also came to apologise. When the food came it was delicious. Battered fish was crisp and perfectly cooked as were the potato wedges, huge juicy beef burger with onion rings, Eaton mess and chocolate sundae all really nice and very well presented. Extremely generous portions too. This was our third visit and it has never failed to please. It’s not gourmet but traditional pub fayre at its best !

The staff are great. They accommodated our new baby and made sure we had room for the pram. The food is the best quality whenever we come. Every time we come it makes me think why we didn't eat there before this year!.

Popped in whilst looking for a quick lunch. Very unusual setting for a tea room but works well with about 10 tables set up between the pews & the altar. The pews act as an overflow area if all tables are taken but we arrived as one was being vacated. Very friendly staff, a relaxing atmosphere and excellent value for money. Menu is limited to a choice of rolls, soup and a tempting range of homemade cakes & scones. Rolls could have improved if pickle, mustard or mayonnaise had been offered but the cakes & scones made up for this as they were very nice. The church itself is a delightful building and worth a visit in it’s own right. An interesting alternative lunch option.
