Despite having had really good service here on a number of times before we were really disappointed this time. Food was good and staff friendly as usual but service was awful. Had to wait for nearly 45 mins for our main course (no starters ordered) and then we finished and no one came over. We decided not to have dessert as didn’t know how long we would be waiting so managed to catch eye of a guy and then had to wait ages for our coffee. Not sure what went wrong that day Tues 3rd September but we will think twice about going again in the future 😔

What a fantastic pub. Popped in en route to Tudeley as the reviews were so good & it did not disappoint. Possibly the friendliest barman I’ve ever met. Made us feel like regulars. Brilliant service & the sandwiches are great, they don’t scrimp on the fillings! Great value, friendly service, perfect pub.

Staff are polite and friendly , the food is always fresh and delicious. Fish is amazing. Vegetables are beautifully cooked ( unusual these days ) A great country atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. Bathroom is spotless. I constantly recommend The Bricklayers Arms. Poor. Really gone downhill after things appeared to be getting back on track a few months ago. We stopped for a burger and fish and chips. Shouldn't be rocket science to get it right, but it was presented without care, lack of taste and was impressive for nothing but the poverty of its content. The pub is pretty much deserted and the brewery behind it should hang their heads in shame for what they have created. Profit over standards. 3/5 at best.

We’ve been coming here for quite a few years now either for dinner or Sunday lunch. Not been for a while and have to say we were disappointed on Saturday evening (first time ever). Menu is really limited..”pie” of the day was Cottage Pie and not a pastry pie; burger was dry, and two bits of over grilled white toast with the pate. It’s not what we’ve previously come to expect from the Bricklayers - no one minds simple pub food that’s what we’ve always relied on but it has to be done well and this time round it wasn’t. Sorry

After we stopped going due to the pub going downhill for the last year or so after Harveys took over, thought we'd give it a try again, as it's our local. Happily found it's now under new management which seems to have sorted it out. It's cleaner, and food and service is back to what it used to be.

Wrong music too loud, three old boys being very loud (with the barman contributing!) and a lot of foul language that the barman didn't challenge. The pub was almost empty, I wonder why?! Used to be such a good pub but the management changed, it really needs another change of management.

I booked our table over the phone and the lady was very helpful but insisted that the latest she could fit us in would be 3-30pm as the kitchen closed at 4pm. When we arrived the pub was very busy and we had to wait. The man behind the bar again was very polite and helpful and found a chair for my mum. Then we were shown our table and then we were served by a lady who looked very tired and didn’t make us feel very welcome. We had to wait for our Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Which unfortunately included only one sliced carrot (which was delicious by the way ) and one tiny parsnip. Plus a lot of broccoli ( maybe to make up for the missing carrots? ) The meal in our opinion was average and the food arrived at 4-30 . Thirty minutes after the kitchen closed. Perhaps when the restaurant is fully booked and very busy extend the booking times by an hour ? Nice people but average Sunday roast

The bricklayers seems to have gone right back… we were shown to a table in the restaurant and the floor around the table we were given, was covered in food, without a flinch from the waitress.we asked to move , which did happen .. . the restaurant was freezing too. Not nice to eat when ur cold.. the radiators were barely on and other guests were feeling the same… we were given a heater, reluctantly by the bar staff.. so we sat with scarfs on till it warmed up very slightly.. we didn’t have desert we just wanted to leave.. there was nil atmosphere and the restaurant carpet is desperate for a steam clean.. we live in a nice home and don’t expect to sit in a dirty, cold restaurant when there are so many eateries in Sevenoaks.. it wasn’t busy at all and now I know why.. the food, I have to say was very nice but the experience wasn’t..

We were in the area visiting Knole and wanted to have lunch after in a pub. We googled and found the Bricklayers Arms. On arrival we could park outside and the view was overlooking a lovely lake! On entering the pub we were immediately greeted by the staff and given menus. My partner really wanted ham, egg and chips and wasn’t disappointed as it was on the menu served with lovely thick ham. I had a goats cheese baguette which was delicious! We are glad we found it and was full for the rest of the day which was a result as I didn’t have to cook dinner! Great food and friendly atmosphere and staff.

Looked on Google maps for somewhere near the M25/A21 junction and Bricklayers came up so called in on the off chance of a table. Arrived about 18:30 and all but one table was reserved so we were very lucky. We were seated in the restaurant which had a cosy atmosphere. Our waiter (sorry didn’t get his name but he reminded us of Tom Daley!) was very friendly and suitably attentive. Food was very nice, and I was a particularly pleased they offered smaller plates of most main courses for smaller appetites. Very glad we found it for a stop off on way to Hastings from Silverstone!

Wondered why it was empty at 8.30pm on a Saturday evening. Soon found out with the total lack of service. Went to the bar 4 times to get served then charged £7 for service. First order for drink was 'forgotten'. At the end of the meal I asked if service charge was optional and said I'd like it taken off the bill as there hadn't been any service but when the waiter came back he said he wasn't able to remove it. It appears to have changed hands again, if so it needs to improve dramatically. Men's toilet floor was a mess, dining tables were sticky, food selection was limited. Shan't be going back any time soon.

The Bricklayers Arms are very good. They’re very friendly and the food is amazing. The only thing that makes this a 4/5 instead of a 5, is because they were quite slow and they could be quicker. But, if you order drinks, they can come in large amounts to satisfy you until your food arrives at the time. Overall, very good!

Reasonable prices and the crumble was one of best we've ever had - not a soggy microwaved lump! Opposite the pub is a pretty boating lake, and there's free parking opposite and in the road. The good: large food portions served hot, staff were polite, attentive and wore masks. The not-so-good: Allow plenty of time to find a parking space on sunny days, parking is on-street and it can be very busy. Outdoor tables are on open grass land across the road from the pub, down to the lake - not an enclosed pub garden - so if you have dogs or kids, you will need to keep them tethered. Staff were clueless about our reservation. Drinkers were ushered off and a table cleared. No reservation signs on tables. Staff couldn't answer basic questions about the menu or drinks and had to keep walking off to ask. The outdoor area was often unmanned, potentially allowing people to walk away without paying - staff kept disappearing en masse inside. Rules don't appear to apply to a select few: no smoking signs on tables - yet 1 table of regulars was vaping throughout, blowing across our food. Staff ignored, including the landlord/ manager, who flitted from table to table checking everyone was alright - but he kept removing his mask to speak to customers while standing over tables - defeating the point of wearing a mask and social distancing. The food: mediocre and dull, like a bland Beefeater, but with a limited, basic menu. A case of quantity over quality e.g. 4 thick slices of ordinary white bread with oil and a dribble of balsamic for £6 - no speciality breads, sourdough, olives etc as served by local competitors for the same price. Overall: Disappointing, having read the rave reviews. Fine if you are there drinking then fancy a basic bite…. but don’t expect anything exciting.

We dined on 3rd June with three friends. As this was our first visit since lockdown we wondered whether the previously high standard was still kept. We needn’t have worried. The food was excellent and it was great to have a pint of Harvey’s draught again.

I can’t tate the Bricklayer’s Arms high enough. Good menu, great quality food and the service is superb. I’m sure the staff are handpicked as they are not just friendly, but will go out of their way to accommodate you and nothing is too much trouble. It’s also in a lovely spot, very picturesque. Full marks!

Due to lockdown we ordered a takeaway of fish and chips, green chicken Thai curry and sticky toffee pudding. Everything was cooked fresh and was delicious. We also bought a small 9 pint keg of beer. Highly recommend. So we’ll organised for ordering online by email and collection . Please keep this fab pub going by ordering and collecting.

We had dinner here on a Tuesday night in September. It was very busy with all of the outside tables taken (and the car park was full too), but we wanted to sit outside so after speaking to one of the friendly and efficient waiters we were able to wait until one was free and freshly cleaned which wasn't too long. The mains were very good and the desserts were too.It was a fairly warm night and they brought small table lights out once it got dark, but they were quite dim so working out what you were eating was a little difficult. We'd happily eat here again, especially as it's in a convenient location near the M25.

Had a fish and chips takeaway for two last night and, although I'm not one for superlatives, I have to say it was probably the best I've ever had. My daughter actually phoned me to say how good it was as her and her family had also had it!.It was served in takeaway cardboard boxes which kept it hot. There was a very large piece of fresh white fish in hot, light batter with delicious perfectly cooked chips, a pot of mushy peas, a pot of tartare sauce and a fresh slice of lemon! It was booked for 7.30pm and served dead on time.Roll on next week for the same again! Can't wait for the same again next week

Use this place frequently, good food. Need to put the heating on as last couple of visits we have been cold! Getting a bit expensive now for pub grub, and they have added a "voluntary" 10 per cent service charge to the bill.

Danny B and a lady with a trans Atlantic accent looked after our party of 6 admirably. Both were polite and professional throughout, even laughing at some poor jokes. Most of those present were returning customers. All of the meals and drinks were delivered in a timely manner. The food was very good. Many thanks for an enjoyable visit.
