Wrong music too loud, three old boys being very loud (with the barman contributing!) and a lot of foul language that the barman didn't challenge. The pub was almost empty, I wonder why?! Used to be such a good pub but the management changed, it really needs another change of management.

I booked our table over the phone and the lady was very helpful but insisted that the latest she could fit us in would be 3-30pm as the kitchen closed at 4pm. When we arrived the pub was very busy and we had to wait. The man behind the bar again was very polite and helpful and found a chair for my mum. Then we were shown our table and then we were served by a lady who looked very tired and didn’t make us feel very welcome. We had to wait for our Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Which unfortunately included only one sliced carrot (which was delicious by the way ) and one tiny parsnip. Plus a lot of broccoli ( maybe to make up for the missing carrots? ) The meal in our opinion was average and the food arrived at 4-30 . Thirty minutes after the kitchen closed. Perhaps when the restaurant is fully booked and very busy extend the booking times by an hour ? Nice people but average Sunday roast

The bricklayers seems to have gone right back… we were shown to a table in the restaurant and the floor around the table we were given, was covered in food, without a flinch from the waitress.we asked to move , which did happen .. . the restaurant was freezing too. Not nice to eat when ur cold.. the radiators were barely on and other guests were feeling the same… we were given a heater, reluctantly by the bar staff.. so we sat with scarfs on till it warmed up very slightly.. we didn’t have desert we just wanted to leave.. there was nil atmosphere and the restaurant carpet is desperate for a steam clean.. we live in a nice home and don’t expect to sit in a dirty, cold restaurant when there are so many eateries in Sevenoaks.. it wasn’t busy at all and now I know why.. the food, I have to say was very nice but the experience wasn’t..

We were in the area visiting Knole and wanted to have lunch after in a pub. We googled and found the Bricklayers Arms. On arrival we could park outside and the view was overlooking a lovely lake! On entering the pub we were immediately greeted by the staff and given menus. My partner really wanted ham, egg and chips and wasn’t disappointed as it was on the menu served with lovely thick ham. I had a goats cheese baguette which was delicious! We are glad we found it and was full for the rest of the day which was a result as I didn’t have to cook dinner! Great food and friendly atmosphere and staff.

Looked on Google maps for somewhere near the M25/A21 junction and Bricklayers came up so called in on the off chance of a table. Arrived about 18:30 and all but one table was reserved so we were very lucky. We were seated in the restaurant which had a cosy atmosphere. Our waiter (sorry didn’t get his name but he reminded us of Tom Daley!) was very friendly and suitably attentive. Food was very nice, and I was a particularly pleased they offered smaller plates of most main courses for smaller appetites. Very glad we found it for a stop off on way to Hastings from Silverstone!

Wondered why it was empty at 8.30pm on a Saturday evening. Soon found out with the total lack of service. Went to the bar 4 times to get served then charged £7 for service. First order for drink was 'forgotten'. At the end of the meal I asked if service charge was optional and said I'd like it taken off the bill as there hadn't been any service but when the waiter came back he said he wasn't able to remove it. It appears to have changed hands again, if so it needs to improve dramatically. Men's toilet floor was a mess, dining tables were sticky, food selection was limited. Shan't be going back any time soon.

The Bricklayers Arms are very good. They’re very friendly and the food is amazing. The only thing that makes this a 4/5 instead of a 5, is because they were quite slow and they could be quicker. But, if you order drinks, they can come in large amounts to satisfy you until your food arrives at the time. Overall, very good!

Booked this place as it was half way between our house and some friends. What a fantastic find! Lovely food and amazing, friendly and efficient service (thank you, Beth!). Reasonable prices and the crumble was one of best we've ever had - not a soggy microwaved lump! Opposite the pub is a pretty boating lake, and there's free parking opposite and in the road. What more could you want? (Nice bit of Winston Churchill history too, about him being a bricklayer!)

The good: large food portions served hot, staff were polite, attentive and wore masks. The not-so-good: Allow plenty of time to find a parking space on sunny days, parking is on-street and it can be very busy. Outdoor tables are on open grass land across the road from the pub, down to the lake - not an enclosed pub garden - so if you have dogs or kids, you will need to keep them tethered. Staff were clueless about our reservation. Drinkers were ushered off and a table cleared. No reservation signs on tables. Staff couldn't answer basic questions about the menu or drinks and had to keep walking off to ask. The outdoor area was often unmanned, potentially allowing people to walk away without paying - staff kept disappearing en masse inside. Rules don't appear to apply to a select few: no smoking signs on tables - yet 1 table of regulars was vaping throughout, blowing across our food. Staff ignored, including the landlord/ manager, who flitted from table to table checking everyone was alright - but he kept removing his mask to speak to customers while standing over tables - defeating the point of wearing a mask and social distancing. The food: mediocre and dull, like a bland Beefeater, but with a limited, basic menu. A case of quantity over quality e.g. 4 thick slices of ordinary white bread with oil and a dribble of balsamic for £6 - no speciality breads, sourdough, olives etc as served by local competitors for the same price. Overall: Disappointing, having read the rave reviews. Fine if you are there drinking then fancy a basic bite…. but don’t expect anything exciting.

We had dinner here on a Tuesday night in September. It was very busy with all of the outside tables taken (and the car park was full too), but we wanted to sit outside so after speaking to one of the friendly and efficient waiters we were able to wait until one was free and freshly cleaned which wasn't too long. The mains were very good and the desserts were too.It was a fairly warm night and they brought small table lights out once it got dark, but they were quite dim so working out what you were eating was a little difficult. We'd happily eat here again, especially as it's in a convenient location near the M25.

We have lived in Sevenoaks for 15 years or so and never tried The Bricklayers Arms despite eating out frequently, so thought we would give it a go.There is absolutely zero, and I mean zero, chance that this is the 5th best restaurant in Sevenoaks, it’s not even in the top 20 by any standard, it’s actually the worst I can remember going to (so let’s say it’s the worst we’ve been to in the last 5 years, despite us eating out at least 2 or 3 times a week)..The pub can best be described as a trip back to the 70s.The starters were straight out of a 1970s pub menu, they were tiny, and poorly cooked. The main course (which took ages to arrive) was overcooked (chicken and pork) with boiled veg (all very 70s) and the associated accompaniments to a Sunday Roast.Service was questionable too – not least because the phone kept ringing loudly every 2 to 3 minutes throughout the meal and they ignored it literally every time ……………We didn’t stay for desert, we can microwave a little pudding ourselves at home and stick some ice cream on it (to be honest, M&S would out class this pub’s attempts by a million miles anyway).I’m sure it’s great if you live locally, drink there, know the other locals and the staff etc. – but having lived in Sevenoaks for 15 years and only been once now, if we live here another 30 years we will never go here again.

My wife and I met with a friend, we sat outside under cover looking out towards the lake. Our drinks were served quickly and given time to choose from the menu. We each chose a different lunchtime meal, the food was served quickly and piping hot (it was a bright but chilly day) the patio heaters kept the chill at bay. Lovely food with excellent service too, thoroughly recommend this pub for it's location, good food and service.

This has been one of my go-to places during the pandemic for drinking only or to eat with various groups of friends. It can get busy even early in the week at lunchtime but there are four tables outside under a heated gazebo for anyone nervous about sitting inside. Booking is essential at any time. The beers are always in excellent condition. Today, Harvey's Best, IPA and Old were available providing a rare opportunity to order that old traditional and half forgotten beer 'cocktail' called mother-in-law, old and bitter haha. The food was very good today too as always. We shared vegetable tempura to start, which came with mayonnaise and not sweet chilli sauce as advertised but it's a minor point. For mains, we ordered fish and chips and baked haddock with cheese sauce. The veg with the baked haddock were slightly undercooked, more than al dente but, again, it's a minor point and the fish was very well cooked.Service was friendly and prompt and it's place I recommend...

Friendly staff beautiful food and a brilliant choice, is this JUST a pub. I think a lot of expensive restaurants would be wise to look at the quality offered here. We have been several times and can’t wait to return, oh the beer is excellent too. Very dog friendly. My favourite pub in the world

This pub was AMAZING!!! Even though we didn’t stay long it was spectacular. For an even better experience I would highly recommend a lovely walk around the lakes with your pals #qualityday

We visited on a boiling hot day and had a table outside on the village green. Very pleasant place to sit overlooking the lake. Service was good, Covid secure measures taken very seriously. The food was tasty and very reasonably priced. Really enjoyed our meal and the whole experience.

The Bricklayers were certainly on the ball regarding social distancing, and all of the post lock down requirements including the fact that the waiting staff had the unenviable task of crossing the road for those dining out. But the food was perfect and the procedure of paying in advance for the main course and subsequently the second course was a reasonable requisite. My only gripe was a member of the bar staff persuaded me to go contact less for the sweets and offered no receipt. When I eventually looked at my on line banking I discovered the debit for the sweet was more than I expected, which led me to believe he may have added a service charge. If that was the case I feel he should have at least had the decency to inform me.

Very good upmarket pub-restaurant. Making good use of the green area next to the village lake to have additional outside tables. Coping well with covid difficulties and eat-out-to-help-out customer bulge.

The management has done a first rate job in configuring the pub and gardens to cope with what is now required and indeed expected by clients. Effort has also been put into staff training and awareness and our party of three felt very confident and very well cared for. As always, lunch here was a delight and the absolute highlight was the Tempura Battered Courgette Fritters from the “Specials” board and very special they were too! So fresh and so well cooked. Congratulations to all concerned!

FANTASTIC MOTHERS DAY MEAL We were greeted with a friendly, warm welcome by the staff on arrival. The pub has a cosy feel, with a beautiful open fire. We all had the 3 course set mother’s day menu.
