I attended the brewers arms as a DJ to entertain a Halloween event the venue were hosting . This is a wonderful pub with very nice decor and great attention to detail... the owners are lovely, helpful people and give of their best to keep the standards very high . it has a lovely warm feel with excellent touches of taste with well placed seating . Food coming from the kitchen looked impressive and tasty with no holding back on portions... Great place to visit and relax . You'll be well looked after here... 5 stars .

My family had a table (for 9)booked for my dad’s 80th birthday. When my dad went in the night before to submit food choices (as requested) he was told the pub was shut on that night for a private party. We were left with just 24 hrs notice to try and find an alternative venue. And there was not much in the way of an apology. Inconsiderate and shoddy service.

Miles better since the new management have taken over.... Consistent opening times is a must if this pub is to live up to it's potential. I've planned to visit a couple of times recently and it's been closed unfortunately, actual opening times online or on the exterior of the pub would help the pub grow... Potential regulars will think twice about heading over if the inconsistencies continue. Very clean & tidy with great service when open.

UTTER S SHOW. AVOID I have visited the Frog. Countess. Brewers Arms for many years. Steve Acton was the last decent landlord it had. Since then it’s had several. Visited today Sunday. 4 people in. Doesn’t serve food. It’s sad. Nice fella behind the bar. My dog sniffed an old fella at the next table. He EXPLODED. Keep that F ing thing away from me he hollowed. I apologised, I now wish I hadn’t. Now witnessing what happened I should have given him a mouthful. I mentioned it to the barman. He said he had witnessed it and people deal with things in different ways. I agreed. But said in a different way it could have caused a big issue. He agreed with me. The drunk and his manner in a different pub would have escalated an issue. On leaving, the old drunk called me a W in a loud voice I asked the barman. Did you hear that. He said Brian don’t be like that to the drunk. Nothing More. What the ! I mentioned he was maybe an order prevention officer. The Drunk shouted I should F off and not return. Lovely. Brewery : I hear that you have offered the new licensee 6 months free rent. At the end of this period when they say it’s just not got enough customers. This is why. It seems your pub is a total S show and the local drunks you depend upon. I do wish you the very best trying to build a trade with that as a foundation.

Visited here today with my family for some lunch, the menu was very limited so decided we would just get a quick drink and go somewhere else, our soft drinks of coke tasted flat and odd, the girl exchanged them for cans of coke for us as she knew we were leaving. We got the bill only to see we had been charged £3.50 per drink!? When questioned this the girl replied well I have swapped it for you for cans.. £3.50 for a can of coke!? The place itself is in dire need of a serious make over :( unfortunately I’d never return here nor recommend this to anyone.

Went to get some food as it's new and has decent reviews. No mention anywhere that they don't do food on Sunday evenings. Should have guessed as the carpark was empty but still we walked in to a virtually empty pub - 3 people at one table. Asked at the bar if they were doing food - there was a board on the bar advertising their specials - to be told by 2 surly staff members that the kitchen was closed . Won't be returning there in a hurry

Called in for a drink on the way home ,heard reviews was ok , how wrong they are . Walked in to no atmosphere two people sat having a quiet drink , two playing pool , one who was very loud , shouty and swearing playing pool as you come in , an untidy barman , no cider only dark fruits , no bottled fridges were half empty, wasn't the best tasting pint , vodka tonic he poured in the glass not even half a glass ? A flat coke . Found a table had to get a cloth to wipe it clean ourselves barman on his phone, all the tables in that area were dirty and sticky so glad we hadn't eaten in there . Barman then decided to belch loudly ! One thing is for sure we won't be going back . Two more customers came in had one drink and left . Far too many TVs and the big one Well who would want to watch that while eating no one obviously there was not one person eating such a shame the frog used to be great .k

I recently visited this establishment after seeing some really positive things on social media. Unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. As we walked in the place was bouncing with 90s happy hardcore and although it was eventually turned down a bit,it really wasn’t the environment for a nice relaxing Sunday lunch. So.. to the food. To be honest, it was awful. When we arrived we were told that there was only Sunday lunch available (no carvery as suggested) and that there was no vegetarian option at all. In addition to this was no sign of the menu that they had proudly displayed on social media the day before. When the food arrived it unfortunately was not great and resembled a microwave meal. Poor show all round really 😕 I did comment on there social media however rather than respond to me like adults they blocked me instead.....my advice...go to the Toby carvery 5 minutes down the road

Found this place on Facebook - the reviews looked enthusiastic and the photos suggested that we were in for a treat. It was indeed an experience! It’s apparently been recently renovated but somehow still manages to be dark and look a little grubby. There was music blaring out when we got there and although they did turn it down, it still wasn’t quite what you want to accompany a relaxed Sunday lunch. I went to ask for the menu to be told that there was only beef or pork carvery for lunch, no other options and no vegetarian choice. And if I’d like to take a seat then my food would be brought over. Lovely but that’s not a carvery, it’s Sunday lunch. A carvery gives you the option of picking the things you like, without menus (being printed off???) it’s a vegetable lucky dip. The food was ok, a bit meh but no huge issue apart from the very, very salty gravy, the taste of which is still lingering in my mouth 2 hours later. A couple arrived after us, walked in through the door and turned and walked straight back out again. Wise they were

Having enjoyed the Sunday carvery recently with friends, we decided to return as the food had been enjoyable. (Apart from running out of the ham which looked delicious). We thought we may be lucky this time. As we arrived in the car park there was a board advertising the carvery. When we entered the pub there was a young man actually running round, taking food orders, serving meals and drinks. Most of the tables needed clearing of dirty dishes and some were bare with no cutlery laid up, not very welcoming. We asked if the carvery was still on and the ‘overworked’ gentleman informed us that it wasn’t but we could have a roast and to take a seat and he would be over shortly with some menus. We found a table and waited. A family on a table near us had been waiting for their meals when they were informed that the chef had run out of some meats. At this point we decided to leave as hadn’t got as far as ordering a drink. The family seated near us also left, not looking happy. We felt really sorry for the gentleman on duty who remained polite even though he was so busy. We had recommended the Brewers Arms to other friends after our previous visit, but sorry not this time.

My partner and I popped in today on the off chance that they had availability. It was a Sunday afternoon so we weren’t holding out for a table. Fortunately we were directed to one after visiting the bar and being told it was table service. The menu itself has choice, somewhat small, but has something for everyone. The menu’s do need updating though, some printed pages had varied prices of the same dish throughout, mainly the Sunday carvery. I opted for the pie of the day (chicken and mushroom) and my partner had the carvery with Beef. Portions were great, the pie was extremely nice, homemade and filling, and as for the triple cooked chips, they too were very tasty. The carvery was also very nice and generous in portion. It genuinely was nice to taste some home cooked food. The staff were nice too. When we arrived, a majority of the tables were taken, and two young men were serving both the bar and the tables. They seemed rushed off their feet, but didn’t let this get in the way of their service. The guys were very polite, and although we had waited a little time to be seen, they made up for this in conversation and humour. The restaurant/bar itself I feel suffers an identity. The back bar is empty with little promotions on it, and the tables are set out like a restaurant but with the feel of a bar. The carvery area could also do with a little attention. The whole area is a large space, and it appears they have tried to make use of it as best they can, but still lacks a little punch. It’s very sparse and gives the impression of a bar that serves food, but could easily identify as a restaurant if a little more work was done. All in all, a very nice place to eat, good food and not overly priced. Would definitely try again.

We all ordered different meals on the menu and when they arrived we weren't disapointed....all the meals were cooked lovely and enjoyed by all, everything was freshly cooked...home made chips and onion rings...the pub didn't seem that busy so don't know if it would make a difference to the quality of the food. Will definatly be going back...the only minor thing was the plate could have been bigger for the mixed grill but was lovely anyway

They run out of chips so we had to have skinny fries. They had no cheese for my burger. The burger was a bit dry. Salad and coleslaw was nice. The fact that we could take the dog was good and it was our first time there so we will give it another chance

Best mixed grill I have eaten for years, a view shared by three others who had one. All meals went down well. Thumbs up for me and my family.

My cousin [ aged 96 ] is blind and in a wheel-chair. It was dark, but could we find the accessible entrance ?. Apparently it's at the back of the building, yet they've spent time and money re-vamping the front. To what end I ask ?

We have an excellent meal here today, fish and chips and a Coley (fish) curry with butternut squash. The food was fantastic. First time we've been, will go back. Prices are reasonable.

Called in for a quiet pint earlier today, and just because I didn't say thank you when I was handed my change the landlady though it was ok to call me a T#a#. You can work out what she actually said. This was at 1:15pm, it's a pub I've supped in since the Seventies, but never again. You have been warned.

Went to the Pied Bull at about 16:30, the pub was very busy and took a while to be served. Me and my wife ordered the rump steak panini when it arrived, the coleslaw wasn’t good & looked like an ice cream scoop had been used to serve it. The steak wasn’t too bad a bit too much chutney which overpowered the steak. Very disappointed, didn’t complain as the bar was too busy.
