The Breakfast Club in Oxford

Tired and confused - first time patron last time visit. From the tired decor , tired staff and confusing pricing. Visit once but not to return . From £3 for a can of coke , £14 for salmon and scrambled egg on toast or £14 for a sizeable fry up and no option for soya milk with hot drinks . This is a good idea very tired and confused . There was a reason that everywhere else was busy and this place was able to seat us quickly but the service and execution was just tired and a little exhausting . Judging by the lack of smiles from the team and other customers would suggest they too were enduring the experience . No wonder they serve alcohol and cocktails as it probably helps to numb the senses of this experience. Wanted to enjoy but missed the mark. Food and combination was okay but one to miss out on.

Came for Beckys Bar during Happy Hour. The place was pretty, with a good playlist and the giant fridge, albeit gimmicky, was fun. The atmosphere was a bit dead for a speakeasy on a Saturday night, and considering you pay £5 pp just to book, I felt more could have been done to liven up the place. Service was really friendly, but due to not many members being on, it was slow and took a while to get our drinks. The drinks themselves were average. I would have rather paid more for better drinks so maybe this is an area to work on as the bar is a new concept. The bar tenders (3 men) gave us tequila shots for my boyfriends birthday which was super fun and kind. Would come back just to be served by them honestly. A great idea, but obviously in its early days and definitely room to make it a really cool experience.

Went to the Breakfast Club this weekend and had a pleasant trip. Turned up to a very busy restaurant on Sunday morning and was quickly given a table. We waited quite some time to be served or offered a drink. We were fairly understanding as the venue was busy but the food also took some time to come out. The food was fantastic though and a very good portion for the price (had avocado, egg and cheese sandwich and some pancakes). Would recommend - just be prepared and patient when it's very busy as could be waiting a while for service and food.

Nice food, staff were friendly but just went about their business. Plenty of seating available for walk ins. Some nice retro decor as well

Sunday morning visit at 11am - I appreciate that you were busy but 3 staff literally looked me in the eye with no welcome whatsoever?!?! This place epitomises the restaurants at the top of the Westgate. All looks but no action. I didn’t wait around any longer and walked out - Please do better.

Found it by googling best American breakfast. The bacon, eggs, and sourdough were really good. You’re not going to like the pancakes.

I am disappointed with the breakfast they serve... ironically they are called ''the breakfast club''. I ordered eggs benedict with hollandaise sauce and I can tell you that the sauce was from a bag or god knows what it was but definitely not made by them and everything was cold... Milk shake and coffee was nice.

Do not recommend. Not only did the food take ages to be prepared, it was cold, dry, and they got my order wrong. Probably one of the worst restaurants in Oxford. My friend also did not like his food as it was cold as well. I definitely recommend everyone to go somewhere else instead of wasting their money here.

Very nice place with simple but very tasty food and great juices.

Service was great. Friendly staff. Ate the Full Monty breakfast. Food was of good quality, so no problem there, but from a personal preference perspective the bbq beans did not gel with an English Breakfast. One sausage and a couple of rashers of crispy belly bacon and a slice of black pudding, though tasty, left me somewhat underwhelmed as the rest of the less expensive (though not insubstantial) elements of the breakfast were used to pad out the volume. Seemed a little meagre given the price of 16 odd quid.

Down to earth, chilled and non pretentious environment. Great service and great food.

The food, location, and atmosphere at this place were excellent. However, the service was notably slow. My friend and I experienced a wait of an hour and a half for our order, which only arrived after we reminded the staff twice. It's disappointing when customer service falls short, as it overshadowed an otherwise great experience.

Treating my mum to a special breakfast on her birthday. 31st August at your Oxford branch. Mum asked for decaffeinated tea and was told they didn’t have any. She was offered a mint tea as an alternative, this was hot water with a couple of mint leaves in it and you had the nerve to charge £3.00 for this beverage. My food was fine, mum ordered the fried chicken Rancheros. As soon as she cut into the chicken she knew it was too tough to eat, I then tried it ( I’m a chef myself) and it was very tough and dry. I asked the manager to replace it, which he did but this was also tough but not as bad as the first. Mum didn’t want to make a further complaint because by the time her replacement came out I would have finished mine and she would have been eating on her own. Your breaded chicken tasted like it’s cooked and cooked before it’s breaded and then reheated in a fryer for service. (Not a great method) When we got the bill the manager had removed the cost of mums meal and apologised about the chicken. As you can see from the bill the cost of your “mint tea and the cheek to charge me service charge. The service charge was 12.5% of the whole cost including the deduction for the chicken dish. So I’m paying service charge on a dish that was refunded. Not good at all. I await your response.

Always a lovely place my daughter and I love to go, happy staff and really attentive. We had the pancakes which look instagramable! We got a table inside, and even though it was busy, we got served in reasonable time. Hot chocs are my fave too, we shall be back :)

Food was lovely, can recommend the pancakes and partner had club sandwich. I do however think it’s overpriced for the amount you get but I suppose that’s because of the location it’s in! Service was slow too they were definitely understaffed for a Wednesday.

We were very disappointed, the restaurant was supposed to open at 08:00, we waited until 08:15 and it still wasn't open. The employees inside saw us but didn't want to come see us to give us an explanation.

Great food and tasty! Generous serving and staff seemed happy and friendly. However on a sunday breakfast it took 35min for food to come out which felt long. It was very busy. I would not come in unless you have at least 1.5hr to spend.

I think it’s expensive honestly, but it has its own reasons. Food is very good and very fulfilling, coffee and juices very tasty. Many vegetarian and vegan options! I got the pancakes and they are super sweet, loved them anyway.

I had French toast and berry pancakes. I think the cream used for the pancakes wasn't my favorite, but the French toast was very good. Service was a bit slow because I came at a busy time. I did feel that the price was a bit high for the small portions and somewhat average quality, and I feel I could get better value for money French toast in Gloucester Green.

Delicious food, really friendly service and lovely restaurant. Drinks did take quite a while to come out but the waiter was very apologetic

One of the best breakfast places in Oxford. Food was first class, service great. They made a big stack for my daughter even though it was not on the menu. That service for you. Well worth the visit and will go back next time we are in Oxford

It's a lovley Café with extraordinary delicious food, altough it's quite packed and loud in there. Still, i would totally recommend it!!

I tried a schnitzel wrap. It was OK but not the best schnitzel. The staff are nice and friendly. The place is good for a quick bite I would give it 7 out of 10

Fabulous! The food was great. Large portions and well presented. The staff were all really attentive and friendly. We came in just after 8am and started to get busier around 9.30. Really comfy place to chill out and eat with family and friends.

Food is ok but the waitress’ service was terrible. She had absolutely no smile during the service and feels extremely distant. Terrible service.

Exceptional place in the heart of Oxford

The taste is not outstandingly good, but a little better than McDonald's. Two burgers, a drink and a chocolate fried bun for a total of £40. Too expensive. A service charge of £5, which I am not sure if it was a tip, was added by itself. It was not value for money and I will not go back. Also, the restaurant is noisy with music and people talk loudly because of it.

Very poor. Service very slow even though place was near empty. Scrambled egg and toast was dreadful, the bread was not toasted. Flat white was a watery cafe au lait.

Packed when we arrived Saturday morning, professional friendly service, food arrived timely, hot and delicious. Can highly recommend, we'll be back soon. Spoke with Rob and Connor who were helpful and good humoured. Thanks team Breakfast Club.

Amazing food, great value for money (had the Huevos Rancheros w/ Egg & Meat alternative, plus Fried Chicken Rancheros). Conner looked after us very well, and would happily come back again.

Who doesn't love breakfast food all day long? Eggs Benedict was very well prepared; eggs were perfect and hollandaise sauce was spot on! Muffin was a bit far and tough or it was the dull knife as we struggled to cut it. Great Peach Iced Tea!

First time at the breakfast club. Fantastic coffee and a good range of breakfasts. I had the greasy spoon. The only thing it wasn’t was greasy. Very good and everyone x 4 enjoyed it. Service very good but atmosphere not the best. Looked a little tired but no regrets and would go again for the breakfast alone. 😁☕️🍳🥓

The pancakes we ordered were delicious and served very prettily, but quite expensive for what they were. Also, the menu is very heavily meat oriented - perfect if you crave a treat.

Really lovely looking restaurant with a nice vibe. Food options are amazing but was surprisingly let down with the lack of flavour unfortunately:( we had the big stack and the fried chicken&bacon waffles and although the food looked 10/10, very picture perfect the taste was really lacking and I was a bit disappointed sorry:( coffee tasted amazing but I drank it in about 3 sips due to it being quite small but it was still nice. I would go back to try the shakshuka as the person in our group who had it said it was really good and apparently the berry pancakes were good but the cream was a bit split sadly. Unsure if I’d go back paid just under £100 for 4 people for a meal each and a drink each.

This tasty breakfast/brunch spot is well worth a visit. We went to the branch in Oxford during our staycation and this was a great filling meal. Shout out to Harry our waiter who was great with the recommendations we loved the homemade potatoes

Great all-day breakfast spot if you're near the Westgate mall, we enjoyed our food and service was brisk and friendly if a bit uneven. I had the breakfast burger with sausage, bacon, egg, and cheese on a perfect brioche bun and it was delicious. The hash browns were excellent as well. My daughter had a generous kids breakfast with bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, and pancakes and enjoyed everything but her scrambled eggs.

Had a lovely pancake breakfast. Pancakes nice and fluffy and the eggs were perfect. Lovely service from some very friendly servers. Would come back again.

Fooled by the name, ordered 2 smoohties and grand royal. Smoothies were more like mixed juice. Muffins were hard as rock. Raw egg white leeked from pounched eggs. Not recommended

Pancakes were so good and not too sweet. The flavours were really fresh and light and the pancakes were filling.

Wouldn't bother anymore, used to be a great place for breakfast but chronically understaffed, food sits on the side well over 10 mins until congealed and Luke warm at best, you grow old before the bill comes and to top it off portions must be half the size they used to be (not literally but you get the picture) If you want a place to grow old and hungry, this is the spot now. Sad really it used to be brilliant

Had a wonderful breakfast at The breakfast club! It is located on the top floor of west gate mall. It was jam packed on Sunday noon.The service was quick and the food was delicious! We loved the pancakes with cream and berries and the eggs Benedict with halloumi and avocado. Coffee was good as well. Will definitely be returning soon.

Just had a delicious meal at the breakfast club. I ordered the shakshuka and they actually cooked the beans all the way which is hard to find. My kids loved the blueberry pancakes and coffee was delicious too

Always the best! We’ve been coming to The Breakfast Club in Oxford for years and it’s probably my favourite place ever to eat. Exactly my type of food and also suits my husband too who loves a good fry up. Staff are always friendly and helpful, always bring colour and crayons for my daughter, always understand about my allergies (onions, boo!) green juice is always a go to, as are the pancakes with a side of fries. I also had the meal part of my hen do here (through the smell door) and it was brilliant, staff were outstanding but of course they would be!

I ordered the bacon on the eggs Benedict. It was so salty and hard to eat.

I’m surprised with so many lower reviews. We arrived at peak breakfast time Sunday morning. It was rammed!!! However I see this as a positive 😊 The staff were quick to offer a message when table was ready service!!! Amazing 🤩 We then returned, were seated quickly and offered drinks straight away. After a hard decision on what to choose we settled for the buttermilk chicken, bacon and waffles and the berries, cream and pancakes! The food arrived quickly and the presentation was amazing! For the price there was a lot of food! I must admit the service was impeccable and impressive to see how the team worked well together on turnover of tables when so busy! Certainly recommended and we had a great overall experience!

We went for breakfast on Sunday which was nice, food was delicious and enjoyed that side of things. However, I don’t agree with the discretionary service charge of 12.5%. We felt rushed in and out and no real service except the standard smile and politeness you’d expect when dining. It makes it really awkward to say can you remove this and I’d feel unkind if I did so, yet didn’t feel it was deserving. I don’t see the need to put that on your customers, it should be my choice and not feel pressured.

It was freezing. Food OK for fast food but the freezing cold at the table would definitely put me off returning. Try somewhere warmer.

We came here on New Year’s Day as it was one of the few places open. The staff were very friendly and helpful about finding allergen friendly foods. Most of the food is typical to what you would find in an American diner. It was good but some of it was a bit greasier than we would have liked, especially for almost £16 a plate. We found the atmosphere in the restaurant really loud and rowdy-kids throwing food on the ground, screaming and chasing each other. This made enjoying a meal hard and I’m not sure we would come back due to this

Wow! This was a first visit, and The Breakfast Club did not disappoint. All of the staff were friendly and polite, right through from greeting us on arrival to when we left. The food was amazing, and not a bad cup of coffee either. I had the All American breakfast, a fry up with pancakes! We were a party of 8, and not one bad word.

Actually 4.5 / 5 but this place is excellent for breakfast. Had the full monty, every item on the plate was superb apart from the bacon. However to find any breakfast place that has decent sausages is a discovery in itself as most opt for the cheap 40% rubbish. The sausages here are proper sausages, the hash browns excellent, eggs perfect, and the beans are the best I've ever tasted in a restaurant. Topped off with mushrooms, quality sourdough toast and tomatoes on the vine. The only (minor) disappointment was the slightly rubbery bacon that is reminiscent of many breakfast spots. That aside, I highly recommend this place. The coffee was excellent, service was good, and I really liked the 1970s décor / theme.

Other than the service that was 5 star i wouldn't recommend, we waited for 2 meals that took 25 minutes to come out. A gentleman came in after us and waited 10 minutes and then got his meal before, how does that work. The food was poor, I had scrambled egg on toast and all I ate from that was the toast. Fair play to the manager and I think assistant who was realy apologetic and took 2 drinks off along with the service charge. I won't be eating here again unfortunately
