We had lunch here (not booked in advance) on my mother's 94th birthday. We are regular guests at the hotel and honestly we have tended to avoid the brasserie for dinner because the experience has been variable. However, our lunch with soup, paninis and a mushroom burger was very good indeed, with lovely fresh bread and warm ingredients. Service was friendly and efficient. I'd recommend trying it out for a midweek late lunch. Self-service breakfast here is good, provided you can avoid the busiest times.

Very disappointed with the food. Bland ! I think the wait staff need more training, not a great service . Hotel itself was stunning, it’s a shame they let themselves done on the food. Breakfast was ok except for the under browned sausages and cold tea

We went for a meal outside of the hotel, come back for a drink and got ignored by the bar staff, we got told it was table service only, we sat there for 30 minutes without being served, other people were walking in and getting served straight away, there was only 4 other tables with people on them in the whole place.

Expensive food from an odd menu, in a very noisy environment, with inexperienced staff. For a starter I had 'Truffled Mushroom tartare' £10.50, this was mashed mushroom on a dry piece of bread, with sliced hard-boiled quail egg and sliced picked onions on the top. It was dry and quite tasteless apart from the pickled onion which overpowered everything. The main course I chose was 'Roasted Confit Duck Salad' £19.50. This was a small but very tasty plate of food, however it did not resemble a 'salad'. It was a small duck leg on top of a bed of hot orzo pasta with a drizzle of red dressing that had pomegranate seeds. The restaurant was noisy for two reasons. The open kitchen has a big extractor unit that makes for quite a loud background noise. The second reason was there seemed to be a number of people just ‘hanging out’, possibly at the hotel for business meetings. One group of men were particularly loud. The young waiter clearly had been given some training but he was quietly spoken and not very confident. One our our group had ordered Chicken Caesar salad, he had not heard the word 'Chicken’ and only Caesar salad arrived, she then had to wait while they cooked some chicken to bring out to her. We arrived at 7.30pm, as a group we had three courses with wine, we left at 9.45pm. We went as a group of five girls for a friend’s special birthday. We had a nice evening together, but I wish we had gone to a different restaurant.

Sarah made our entire trip to Crewe Hall. I took my mum for a spa day for her 50th and our visit to The Brasserie for lunch was the highlight of our day all down to one staff member, Sarah. I’ve never had such an experience like it, the most positive and memorable customer service we’ve both ever experienced. She is genuinely lovely, takes an interest, goes out of her way to help and I would say is an absolute asset to the Tean

I spoke to someone called Christian on the 9/03/24 about the afternoon tea here. He was lovely and he said it was £35 per couple. So therefore we booked on the 10/03/24 for Mother’s Day as it was by wife’s first Mother’s Day so I wanted it to be special… It was far from special. I rang and confirmed everything the next day with some called M.Jones who was the deputy manager at the time on the 10/03/24 and he stated that it was £35 per person. He said that he wouldn’t honour the booking even though one of his staff made a mistake. He wouldn’t even show one bit of sympathy. He just wanted to get of the phone to me as quick as possible. This is shocking service and I’m waiting for the complaints team to get back to me.

We had our works Christmas party at Crewe Hall and I hope we never go back! There was 25 of us and they split 10 us onto a different table which was the complete other side of the room our colleagues. They had clearly overbooked the night so the rows of tables were that close together you could get passed people and when you asked to get passed we were met with the fact they couldn’t move their seat in any more so ended up a stand off! The food was okay but for £65 per person I would have expected better. The bar was ridiculous. Only 1 member of staff who knew what they were doing out of 3 people and the other 2 were young lads that looked like they had been hired for the night. That slow took me over half an hour to get a drink. If you are thinking of having your Christmas party there I would avoid!

We booked our Christmas party at Crewe Hall for tonight (December 23) and I'd have to say it was the worst Christmas party we have had in the last 20 years. Every time we went to the bar took over an hour, the service was so slow thay must have lost thousands in sales. There was only one lady behind the bar that had any sense. The bar manager came and saw what was going on and walked away. Should be sacked as absolutely useless. Did not pay that sort of money to spend all night at the bar waiting to get served. Also never seen so many people using drugs in the toilet. Never to be revisited again. I will be in touch with Crewe Hall on Monday

Recently went to the Frozen afternoon tea experience. The Frozen entertainment was fantastic, the children really enjoyed it. The afternoon tea was very disappointing. We paid £40 per adult and £25 per child. The cups and glasses were filthy. We were given a cup of tea and then had to prompt a server to provide us with a pot of tea as no one bothered to top us up. The tiered food display was unnecessarily huge and towered over the table, not an issue but not very aesthetically pleasing. The table was massive and we were sat quite a distance from each other. We had to rearrange ourselves. None of our requirements that had been communicated ahead of the event had been listened to. The children’s sandwiches came with tomatoes even though we had requested them without. I had specific dietary requirements. They just removed the items with no alternatives provided. The adult sandwiches were very disappointing with not much filling. Too much sweet food and not enough savoury in my opinion. The scones weren’t very nice but the cakes did look well made. The children’s cakes were lovely, especially the Olaf chocolate pot which was a nice touch. I feel that the experience did not reflect the price and we left feeling very underwhelmed. We have had better and cheaper afternoon tea at a local cafe.

We came here with high hopes for a few nights stay. The hotel itself is satisfactory, but on arrival to the restaurant there were dog bowls placed on the draught beer stands, you had to wait twelve minutes to be served one drink with staff standing around with tables not cleared. The food was average and overpriced and again long waits between meals made for a restless dining. We had higher hopes for this place and were disappointed with the service especially for being such a hyped hotel.

Really disappointed with our anniversary meal at the Brasserie Crewe Hall. I can’t tell if it was an off night or this is normal from an AA rosette restaurant. The list seemed endless with what went wrong and quite short with right. To begin 1: crumbs on seat! 2: drinks orders wrong (x3 times) 3: glasses for table water - never any table water brought though. 4: veg - easily the worst part of £100+ meal - surely Edam beans, peas, courgette aren’t hard to get right. 5: meat was great (well done) let down by the seasoning 6: no salt or pepper - seemed to be our table only (?) 7: drinks glasses went empty into main course - no offer for more drinks - had to flag down a waiter. 8: all previous empty glasses left on the table (even after mains and desserts delivered). 9: warm treacle tart - cold. The clue should be in the title… 10: warm treacle tart returned cold (again) after being sent back (really?!) 9: no ownership of any issues, simply “hope you enjoy the rest of your stay” The good - the lamb and pork belly were lovely (would recommend more jus on the pork belly). The staff seemed like they wanted to do a good job and were polite. The stuff they couldn’t help - kids allowed to walk along the benches at the back of the couples seating. The stuff that’s clearly broken - the waiters order using a tablet. This clearly has communication limitations. So when the message is, please can I have a “gin with tonic to the top” and it gets delivered short, by someone different, I can only assume the message isn’t getting through… or how else did you get it wrong 3 times? All in all, underwhelming and disappointing - offered a 10% discount if we were to come back for our second or third night - will definitely swerve that and head into town. If I were booked in the restaurant for the 2nd or 3rd night we would be cancelling (but planned to eat elsewhere (luckily)).

Planned a special lunch treat for my wife at a hotel, but the experience fell short. Despite choosing an outdoor spot, the chairs lacked cushions, making them uncomfortable. We shifted indoors due to the discomfort and flies. Unfortunately, our wait for a simple salad and pasta exceeded 40 minutes, with flies bothering us. I tried to address the issues with the manager about the missing ingredient and poor service, but the message wasn't conveyed by the young waitress. Frustrated by the wait, we eventually left, saddened by the disappointing experience on my wife's birthday.

We held our daughters wedding here which was great, but we had a meal in the brassiere the night before, the service was a real joke they forgot to of our parties meals. When informed of this they didn’t even say sorry, they just went off to the kitchen, I had a quiet word with the duty manager, and they didn’t seem that bothered. They food was really over priced for what you got, not good value for money at all. The two whose meals they forgot had to have pizza in their room. I sent an email to the manger of the restaurant it took him 3 weeks to get back to me, we will never eat there again, and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

On a special break for my husbands 60th birthday we had really looked forward to this time away. However this establishment does not serve an acceptable level of food for the price and the management need to revisit this along with working conditions for the staff. The food served is extremely poor, not freshly cooked and tasteless. Even worse is the breakfast. Short staffed and almost nothing left with still an hours service to go. Dirty cutlery, used crockery everywhere. No bread, broken toaster, no orange juice, no clean cutlery, no eggs, poor quality coffee, over cooked bacon, a total disaster. We shall not return to Crewe Hall.

We booked here as we didn't know the area, and we were staying in the hotel. All started well, shown quickly to our table and ordered wine and food. Starters came quickly, as did the wine Then we waited, and waited and waited. The mains of steak and seabass arrived 50 minutes after our starter plates were taken away. The restaurant was not overly busy. I hate to think how long the wait would be if it had been. Complained to the front of house guy. Oh, he said. That was it. Told the hotel reception, and they said they would tell the restaurant manager when he returned from his day off. Found out there are a number of very good restaurants nearby. They serve better food at a cheaper prices and you don't feel ripped off with the price of drinks

Where to start? The service at this ‘restaurant’ is slow to non-existent and the staff are, on the whole, rude, disinterested and completely the opposite of what you want as a paying customer. No smiles. No attention. No welcome. We were on a 2 night spa break at the hotel and went to the brasserie for our inclusive evening meal and breakfast on one of the mornings (the other morning we decided to get breakfast as room service to save us from another painful experience). On both occasions, we were waiting at the door of the restaurant for over 10 minutes with no apology for the wait, no inclination of when we were going to be seated, an no offer of a timeframe or drink while we waited; all despite many members of staff walking passed us doing their best to avoid eye contact. When we were eventually seated, we were sat for a while before drinks and food orders were given. The menu was very different to the one on the website, which I now understand could be due to the ‘Eat Out to Help Up’ scheme, however this wasn’t clear on the website. The menu on the website looks really nice food, the menu we were served was limited ‘pub grub’, massively overpriced (prawn cocktail £9 for starter, fish and chips £14, 2 slices of stale ‘sour dough’ and 2 dips £5!). Our orders were taken, our starters eventually arrived, then we had to remind about our drink orders, which then arrived. We then, eventually, were given our mains. The ‘ginger and rice salad’ was very poor (£12!) and tasted like a 3 bean salad type box you would get for £2-3 in a supermarket. We were never asked if we wanted sauces. We were never asked if we wanted another drink. We were never asked if the food was okay. We were never waited on! The main plates were, eventually, taken away and we then asked for a sorbet and a portion of chips (to fill us up after the poor, unfulfilling rice salad). Twenty more minutes passed waiting for these two simple dishes, before I had to do my best to catch the eye of a member of staff to remind him about these. They then came, with no apology. We then sat for another length of time with plates on our table to try and get the bill, which didn’t come, so we left. I asked a waiter on the way out if we could charge this to the room (it was free anyway, thank god, but we had to sign for it), but I was then asked to take a seat back at the table while that was sorted! I said no, I would just wait at the bar. Another 5-10 minutes passed and we finally made it out, over 2 hours later since we arrived, for 3 courses and 2 glasses of wine . It is important to note that this is during Covid-19. The restaurant was full and you would not think there was a pandemic happening! Staff weren’t wearing masks. The tables were close. There was a large, I’m guessing corporate, group there between many tables who were walking between tables, standing and chatting in between tables, standing close to our table while they did so, and the staff just weaved in between them! No requests to follow guidelines and remain in their seat. I was served wine in a glass with lipstick stains on it which I had to asked to be changed. Seriously! For breakfast, it was much the same. Same rude and miserable staff. It was obvious the restaurant is massively understaffed, there were lots of people complaining, shaking their heads, asking for some actual service for seemingly simple requests like taking their order after 15 minutes of being seated. In short, I would not recommend this brasserie. Horrendous.

My husband and I stopped by for a bite to eat mid afternoon . I opted for the veggie/ vegan option whilst he went for the ham sandwich which came with a salad garnish and some fries . From the moment you enter the building you are “wowed” with the magical architecture . Reception staff were very pleasant and smiley and directed us to the brasserie through the building as it was raining rather hard outside . En route we passed some cleaners who all said hello as well as other members of staff that Smiled as they passed . Server in the brasserie was also very personable and attentive . Meals came and this is where sadly they need to improve their game . The veggie option ,,(whilst a generous portion) lacked real flavour unfortunately with the “tang “of ingredients perhaps not being at their freshest. The presentation of the sandwich lacked - presentation ! A few fries and a sandwich that was not very inspiring . In a place like this , it’s about the experience and service offered . The ambience and how welcome you feel in order you might wish to return . Get some creativity in your kitchens and we will come back ! Beautiful building . Friendly staff. Food need improving .

After our spa day experience we decided to get lunch in the Brasserie. Firstly, the staff were not overly friendly. They were each wearing different uniforms, and looked slightly unkept. We asked for a food menu which resulted in the two waiters having a heated discussion over which menu we could actually have and weirdly it had no prices on. We acquired a menu (with prices!) ourselves from another table...My friend ordered soup, I ordered a chicken sandwich. At £9 for a sandwich, I was expecting good things! When it came, it was normal brown bread, nothing fancy at all. Good portion of overcooked chips, side salad and coleslaw. However, when I went to pick up the sandwich I had been given the wrong order. Going to the bar, the waiter came over and just stood there. I actually thought at one point he was just going to pick up the sandwich! But after deliberating, he took the whole plate of food. Because of this mix up my friend ate alone as I waited for my original order. When it eventually turned up, it was a whole new fresh plate of food. The bread was incredibly dry and the chips still overcooked. The waiter who took the order did come over to apologise, but that was it, we paid and left.If I used the spa again I’d definitely eat somewhere else.

I was at the Country Range expo which was a huge success, the staff were brilliant, and really looked after us, a special mention to Mike who kept me supplied with plates and worked really hard. The venue is superb and the old part of the hotel is stunning, my room was clean and everything worked as it should. The only criticism I have is it doesn't cater that well for vegans and seeing it was veganuary a little more effort could been delivered as I had Falafel burger for dinner, and lunch was also the burger with salad and a tomato sandwich and a huge buffet for everyone elseBut I would reiterate the staff were brilliant! I would have given full marks but for the food.

We had to eat in the Brasserie several times over Christmas as we were staying at the Hall, and with the exception of Christmas Lunch, which was in the old part of the hotel, we had no choice. There was nothing here to recommend it, the food varied from okay to dreadful and the staff from disinterested to surly.I will never go there again.

I ate in this hotel for four nights over the Christmas period. The food was average, edible and saved me having to both prepare and wash up afterwards. Unfortunately, this is the most positive comment I can make.

Edible expensive and uninspiring good. Obscene £5 tray charge. Need to add more words but little else to say. Insubstantial overpriced average at best

We were staying in Crewe Hall and this was the ONLY bar and restaurant in the hotel when we were staying to have a drink and dine. The food is ok but nothing special and the bar area has no ambiance at all, not what you expect when you are staying in a magnificent mansion as Crewe Hall is, totally underwhelming. This is not what we have come to expect from QHotels, disappointing. We wouldn’t return.

I'm glad we have £28 each to spend towards dinner included with our stay, because I would not have been happy paying full price. Breakfast was rather good, but you can't go far from wrong with a Full English!

We had a nice meal here and the staff were excellent. However the food seem to lack passion...all our starters were really excellent but all our mains were ordinary, not bad but bit underwhelming given the quality of the previous course.

Booked in for dinner 1st August whilst staying in the hotel. Shown to our table quickly and given time to browse the menu. The children didn’t fancy anything from the main menu so were allowed to choose from the bar menu. Staff very accommodating and attentive. Food delicious and fresh, the only problem was the fish batter was quite oily. Also we have dined here numerous times whilst staying in the hotel and you used to get a bread roll and dipping oils on arrival which they have stopped doing now. It’s a shame as those little touches goes along way. Will definitely be back though on our next break away.

Came here as a member of the spa with my friend to celebrate my 60th birthday. Little bit disappointed not to receive anything for my birthday for being a member my twin sister has had free everything from restaurants and all sorts!! Needn’t have worried though because our wonderful Italian barman made our day, making the most impressive Pina colada’s to really make our day fabulous. Thanks so much for your lovely comments and cocktail skills. Till next time!!

What the heck? Crew Hall is amazing! Decided to have dinner at the restaurant but then we went from amazing to college cafeteria. Not at all we expected. We did not stay for dinner because we are in a lovely area why would we we eat in a cafeteria? Sorry, we can not review the food but really? This is like an up scale Hampton Inn by the looks.

Asked for a Vegan dish inwhich the chef kindly accommodated, but charged £15 for a small platefull of sweet fried red cabbage with a few bits of veg. If I wad not ripped off by that dish, I definately was by the small bowl of fruit salad costing £6.50. Nice atmosphere and I understand it is supposed to be a little elitist, but seriously... Too much money for what they offer.

First night had dinner and the burgers were so dry it was ridiculous. Not cheap either. We had thought about steak but the fillet was £38 with no sides or sauce. The table next door got steak and it didn’t look great.

Visited this establishment for a family birthday. The food was poor quality, some of the vegetables were cold and some of it had run out. After finishing our dinners, staff came to the table with Yorkshire puddings that had earlier run out. Not much use after dinner. Draught beers ran out. Then topped off by ‘spa’ customers wandering through the Brasserie in their dressing gowns. Frankly, embarrassing.

Upon arrival at 7pm the noise was deafening. The music was far too loud. Everyone had to shout themselves hoarse. The bar prices were very expensive and the bar had no change!! I was owed £17 and felt reluctant to walk away without getting my change. A lot of other people also were owed change. Surely this should have been anticipated?

Myself & my partner had our evening meal and breakfast in the Brasserie restaurant on 17/18th of November. We were staying at Crewe Hall overnight. I cannot fault any part of our experience. Staff were very friendly & professional and the food we ordered was lovely. We had no issues with wait time for our meals. We dined at 6.30pm which must have been the right time as we noted the restaurant started to get busy halfway through our meal. I agree that the menu is quite pricey but this was a treat for a special occasion, so again no complaints from us.

We went to the Brasserie for a birthday meal and there were around 14 of us in the group. We pre ordered the menu selections and the food was great, I had the crayfish starter and the fillet steak for the main. The steak was great for me but a couple of others who had the steak said it was a little overdone. Maybe difficult to time the meals for 14 people so not the end of the world. Glasses of wine and beer were quite expensive.

We went on a weekday lunchtime for the first time. First impression quite good ,clean and tidy. The maitre d advised it was a fixed price buffet which we accepted. On being taken to our table we were advised that it was an Indian buffet. My wife does not like Indian food and we were told my wife could have a sandwich and soup from the buffet. I was quite happy to try the Indian buffet starting with the soup . We both helped ourselves to the soup and took it back to our table. The soup was lukewarm at best. We told the waitress who took both soups away, my wife declined to have any more soup. We noticed that the waitress went to the soup urn ladled a new bowl of soup for me and took it , we assume to the kitchen to put it in the microwave before bringing it to me. I decided to have a sandwich along with my wife . We also ordered triple cooked chips. The sandwiches were made with what appeared to be hard stale bread. The triple cooked chips were oven cooked wedges. We asked to speak to the manager who was unavailable. The head waiter listened to our complaints and suggested we did not pay for anything although we did offer to pay for the soft drinks. He asked us for a contact address and we gave him our email. He suggested the manager would contact us but after four to five weeks we have not heard anything.

Went on a spa day with my other half today, and whilst the actual treatments were fine, the other facilities were not up to an acceptable standard. We paid for treatments and a “light lunch”. For that, we were sent to the Brasserie, and were told we could eat from a buffet. I can’t recall ever seeing a worse buffet. There was hardly anything to chose from, and what was on offer was all totally random and nothing really accompanied anything else. It was the most bizarre meal. The staff seemed oblivious to what a terrible offering it was. My girlfriend had the soup that was available, but that was pretty much cold, with stale hard bread rolls.

I used the Brasserie at a recent stay at Crewe Hall.In contrast to the Hall itself this place stands like a University canteen in the adjoining modern annexe to the Hall. It is sparcley decorated has utilitarian and uncomfortable chairs in the bar area and the dining area is not much better. The food was pretty average and I found that the menu had been reduced because they had 'been busy'.....the insipid french onion soup (no taste of beef at all) was served cold and when it had been microwaved the cheese was a globule swimming in onion. I had the gourmet burger which came in a bun on a plate with a small portion of chips (no other accompaniments)and was pretty bland. My wifes trout was swimming ,as were her vegetables, in a sea of sauce. So the food matched the surroundings very bland and sadly overpriced

Poor selection of beers and ciders, overpriced wine of Average quality. Buffet lunch was acceptable, nothing to write home about. Evening meal was OK. Overpriced for the quality. Friendly service doesn't really substitute for a lacklustre venue and food, sadly.

We could not fault the food at all, it was just excellent! My favourite had to be the duck confit (I had it twice) and my husband loved the sea bass. The butternut squash soup tasted lovely too. Everything was extremely well presented and the staff that served us were polite and knowledgeable about the food too.

You are taken away from the grandeur and beauty of the gothic Crewe Hall into a modern place. Service wasn't that great, food was fine, wasn't anything to write home about - it was all a little hit and miss. Shame as it has the potential to be amazing.

We came for our breakfast and as expected we both enjoyed it. Wetherspoons food is always good which is why we keep using them. We both had different breakfasts but both loved them as usual. It's a pleasure to have it made for you. Well done guys, we will be back I'm sure.

Parked in what we thought was the free pub car park, received a parking fine for £100 one week later. We arrived when it was pitch black and due to COVID restrictions couldn't leave our table once we were seated. Hence, we didn't have a clue we had to pay to park. The staff didn't mention it to us at any point. Strange considering how many terrible reviews they're getting for the exact same reason? Why oh why.

Charles is amazing, such a gent. Gave great advice to us as we had no clue where to start with our planters. Also, helped take our purchases to the car. I can’t give enough praise for this place.

Mid week the Harrow had plenty of space to accommodate an impromptu family gathering. I know that at weekends it’s really advised to reserve a table. We’ve been coming to this pub pretty much all our lives, but was impressed by the upgrades and expansion. The menu was interesting and didn’t disappoint. The service from Shane was awesome. They have some great offers and discounts online so that diners of all budgets can enjoy it. Definitely putting this back on my “visits Home” itinerary.
