Great experience for a birthday with family. Service excellent without being overly intrusive. Olivia OG was our server, and she was so attentive and personable. Highly recommended

Brilliant meal for a spontaneous meal out. I couldn’t recommend this place enough and the service from Bruna was d phenomenal. Thank you to all involved in making this a brilliant night.

We decided to stop by The Botanist after hearing lots of good things from friends recently. We were greeted at the door by a friendly gentleman who gave us menus and sat us at a beautiful table in the restaurant. We loved the menu & that we could hear the live music from our table in the restaurant! Our server was a girl called Olivia and she couldn’t do enough for us. She gave us some recommendations and we ordered the Duck to start which was crispy & a big portion. We then shared a sharing kebab which was SO good. When we mentioned to Olivia that we would like to go through to the bar area and, without trouble, she reserved a table for us. It was busy in the bar area but all the staff we came across made us feel welcome & at home. The cocktails tasted great too and I had an amazing negroni whilst my partner had a espresso martini Can’t wait to come back for the live music and DJ next Saturday

This is a great barn of a restaurant on the first vfloor near the town's cathedral square. We went on a very quiet Sunday evening, but we were left feeling as if we shouldn't have bothered. Despite the place being nearly empty, the level of service to our table was utterly pathetic. There were waiting & bar staff around, but they clearly were not remotely interested in serving us or making the experience enjoyable. Every interaction was perfunctory. We had to wait ages for menus, then for drinks, then to place our order, then for the food to finally arrive. What were all those staff doing? Not looking after customers! The food was OK but no better. At the end we walked out to pay our bill at the bar, rather than wait for the non-attentive staff to not bring the bill too us. Extremely poor service all round.

The worst meal out that l can remember... Food was absolutely vile , pungent smelly fish, cold chicken mush , really horrible. My drink glass was still completely full when l had finished the drink because it was filled to the brim with icecubes to leave as little space as possible for actual liquid. The bill for this feast of one non alcoholic drink, 1 garlic bread starter, shared between us , and 2 mains, one of which was a sandwich, was nearly 50.00. It's a nice looking place, if the food had been good l would still have thought it expensive, but wouldn't gave minded, but as we both left the meals largely untouched l'm going to say to anyone thinking of going there, to avoid!

Popped in here for a drink on 8 July early evening with my sister as I was in the area for the night. We were greeted by a fabulous guy - he was incredibly friendly and bubbly and it was just such an amazing welcome - thank you! The lady behind the bar was just as friendly. We sat out on the terrace for a drink and it was just lovely - watching the world go by and enjoying some relaxation time. Really enjoyable visit.

Came here for our 10th anniversary after reading the glowing reviews sadly it didn’t live up to them. It wasn’t that busy as it was Wednesday but with only 3 staff members working (2 on bar & 1 server) they seemed to be struggling as we waited over 15 minutes just to be seated so not a great start and that was generally the same throughout the night things just seemed to take awhile whether that was ordering or food/drinks being brought to us but the server was nice n polite. The food was ok but it was nothing to rave about which was a shame as had high hopes from reading other people’s reviews. The decor was nice & being seated by the window we had a nice view of the cathedral and sunset. Lastly the service charge on the bill I do not like and it was not mentioned by the server I hate the presumption I’m not going to leave a tip I always bring cash with me so I can leave a good/generous tip due to this I didn’t this time. Overall it was disappointing so we won’t be dining here again.

Really disappointed with this place as we had high hopes. Booking was for 7pm by the time we had been served and finished our meal it was 10pm gives you an indication of the wait time for food. We had 3 course which were okay nothing to shout about unfortunately the katsu chicken the chicken itself was very tough and dry. The ladies toilets were filthy according to our friend. Dessert was okay apart from one of our friends got forgotten about only four of us so not a massive group. I'm a picky eater and my alterations were taken care of no problem which was nice our waitress was very very helpful.

Wonderful restaurant! We celebrated my birthday here. The choice of dishes is not very large on Sunday, but each of them is a masterpiece. The order was brought quite quickly, the portions were very large and tasty. I recommend a visit to everyone who likes to have a delicious evening)

I had a horrible experience here...sitting at a table I had the horrible experience from one of the staff members giving me horrid looks.shame I did not get his name..this day and age homophobia still seems rife ih the uk
