Very average. Totally distracted and understaffed by nice but ineffective kids.

Albjona was the best waitress!!! So friendly and approachable

Sirloin steak medium rare was cooked perfectly but the quality of meat was somewhat disappointing. Cocktails on happy hour tasted like mocktails. Also smelled like cigarette smoke on the inside.

Great atmosphere, live music was good too, however the kebabs seem quite expensive for what you get and the burger wasn’t as special as expected for the price.

Do not eat here, we got food poisoning. Would recommend not going! seriously it's not worth the risk and its not safe. Do not eat the prawns. My 13 year old daughter suffered soo badly. We filled in a form to ask them to review their food hygiene. But as we hadn't got stool samples they said they wouldn't review anything, shame as the front of house staff were lovely and the place looked nice !

Booked for my daughter's 50th birthday for 12 people, the service was top notch, food was amazing and the staff went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied with the service, even to the point of bringing a special cake which I had brought to be produced after our main meal, I cannot fault this venue this is the second time we have been for special birthdays and will definitely return, we must support local businesses...

The food was excellent but what made the night was our waitress Darcy she was lovely and accommodating even when 1 other I was with push boundaries. She was great with our group of 15. She made our friends birthday extra birthday She was respectful when checking IDs and is really an asset to your team.

Lovely experience, even got a complimentary cocktail for the person who's birthday we were celebrating! Staff were so lovely! Gave good advice on food sizing, as 2 of us went to order the same thing and the waitress suggested that 1 would be plenty for 2 and we could try something else aswell as she wasn't wrong!

The food is great. The automatic 12.5% service charge is not. I should get to decide whether I would like to pay extra or not. There are better places without silly fees. Like the B&K on the opposite side.

We visited here for a birthday meal and the atmosphere was great! There was a live band and the vibes were brilliant. The hanging kebabs were delicious and of course the cocktails were good.

First visit here and would definitely recommend, we were greeted upon entering and shown to our table, we had plenty of time to look at the menu and plenty of options depending on your appetite. We only had a main and dessert but the food was mouthwateringly delicious and there was a small selection of non alcoholic drinks although l chose to only order a soft drink this time. We were well looked after and not rushed, very welcoming place and would visit again.....there is outside sitting available also.

Picked up some pastries and a sausage roll, really fresh and well cooked, crispy and flaky without being dry. The sausage meet in the roll was more pieces of pork than traditional mince pork and filler. Although this is a takeaway we ate on the chairs outside and the general atmosphere/ people watching made it an enjoyable experience

First time at a Botanist and it was great. Seating in the booths was perfect for me and the atmosphere was superb. It was quie empty early on a monday but I imagine it is buzzing at the week-ends, which is good too. Service was fine. Cold drinks were ice-cold and all the dishes we tried were very tasty and well-cooked. Lots of choice for veggies. Sticky toffee pudding a must. Bit on the pricey side but reasonable sized portions Enjoyed the evening.

Service was fantastic, food was great (very interesting). It was a little quiet so the atmosphere was ok. It was in the afternoon so understandable. All in all a great experience!

It's a great place. Food is good and a nice ambiance. Unfortunately it's one of these places that thinks it's ok to add a service charge without asking. It isn't, that should be my choice. 1 star as a result.

Booked for a 60th Birthday family meal. The food was good and nice environment and service. Negatives… the pitta bread was hard as rock. And it was FAR TOO NOISY… just couldn’t hear anything anyone said. Turn it down.

This was very poor service, we pre ordered all the meals for the party but they still got it wrong, took over an hour and one of our party to complain for the deserts to come out. Would not recommend and will not be revisiting.

On my arrival, I was told I hadn’t booked a table I had to show confirmation of Booking a long time to acknowledge me . They talked quite a lot to each other to get any service I had to say excuse me. Excuse me excuse me before they acknowledged me. The food was very nice. The atmosphere was lovely. Music could’ve been a bit quieter on the hole for a hot summer day it was lovely. Would I go there again? No

The experience felt really rushed our mains came late and then we were rushed to leave by the waitress, we explained that we had only received our mains. I understand that the bottomless drinks were for 90 mins but at least let us have our food. The tables were empty until the next sitting which was a few hours later. On this circumstance they should’ve let us finished our food as it was the kitchen that delivered the food late. Will not be dining here again!

A place with a great atmosphere and service. Lots of vegetarian options to choose from. The food was yummy although when it was served fries didn't look amazing so I was nicely surprised with taste. The fries looked very dry however they were crunchy on the outside and really soft inside with yummy spices. Desserts were amazing. What could be better- the halloumi hanging kebab portion was quite small, our chilli oil had no chilli and the music was so loud that we had to shout to each other. Otherwise perfect.

Popped in for some late night drinks. The bartender is really good at her job and it was cool watching her work. The beer selection isn’t amazing but there’s enough to please everyone’s taste.

It's a nice atmosphere in there and the tables are spaced out very nicely. I had the vegan bang bang noodle salad, and it was pretty good. The sauce was amazing, but there wasn't much of it, it pretty much just glazed the nuggets which is already a weird vegan substitute to use in a noodle salad. The salad was lovely and fresh but the noodles stuck together. Disappointing "sundae". Probably won't return

We had a early dinner back in December. Hope it improved since. Staff didn't know what they were doing. Lots of them free walking around. It wasn't busy. Young people in service with a 'I don't give a sh...t and don't want to be here' attitude. We had a birthday celebration. Reserved table. They didn't ask us about reservation and fitted us opposite our reserved table to a pocky place. Until I asked if we could take a booth, which then they realised was our reserved table. 🤦🏻‍♀️ We were served by 5/6 staff always wondering about but not in an attentive way. Rice under kebab was undercooked. Very hard. I asked about a bottle of prosecco, they apparently used to serve for birthdays. They walked away 'sorting it out'. Never came back. Later by my prompting told me they don't do anymore! Very unspecial birthday celebration meal. Never returning. We as a family felt there like a nuisance.

This honestly exceeded all our expectations. The food was superb, the setting was great (disappointing that a lot of the greenery was fake/faux plants given the name of the joint) & very inviting. Service was good & value for money was on point as well. Would highly recommend the sharer trio kebab & the pork crackling was probably the tastiest we've had anywhere.

Service very poor. Made even worse by them adding service charge on. Given food with no plates, handed dirty cutlery, left dirty plates on table even after dessert arrived, ordered drink and didn't receive. If the service was better I would go again but ruined our meal tbh.

It was the second, and the last time when I was there. For the first time, I went with my friend and guy in reception laughed out loud in the very beggining giving us an impress that this is about us - weak hospitality. I was there second time, band was so loud that I could not talk with person next to me! One of bartenders asked about order being 10 meters away from me and he doesn't communicate in correct way, I don't recommend

Nice restaurant, friendly staff, good food but slow service

We attended the cocktail class for a hen do! The whole experience was brilliant. We all loved the bar and atmosphere. It was a busy Saturday but they had live music and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Our host was superb, very informative but also happy to have a laugh with us all. We then stayed for dinner, service was a little slow but not surprising as it was packed. Food was really nice and a good selection. Will definitely be going back!

In all honesty, we felt rushed in and out. Food came within 5 mins of placing our order and before our drinks even arrived. We were only in there for 40 mins, spending 50 pound, we felt like we were robbed of the experience. It’s a lovely place and we were excited for the live music. Staff we friendly and greeted us nicely.

Great meal with family to celebrate a special birthday. Kebabs and fries were amazing, very pleased with meal, also the botanist pornstar martini was to die for, as was the prosecco! It was quiet when we got there (6pm) however did get busy later with a good atmosphere and ambience. Prices were pretty good I thought, and I will definitely visit again. 5 stars!!

Had an amazing post dinner meal here, bang bang cauliflower was a very strong start to the meal, Halloumi kebab was superb and the fries and Slaw both amazing, cookie dough to finish was greedy, but well worth it. Will definitely return to explore the rest of the veggie options on the menu.

Lovely food excellent staff. Very upsetting with very loud music unble to enjoy meal with friends. Had to ask for private room which was a lovely experience but still the music could be heard.

I went here for bottomless brunch (which was more like bottomless dinner, since it was at 19.30!) and had an excellent time. The food and bottomless drinks were amazing and were great value for the £50 spent for the experience. My only gripes were: 1. There was very loud club music playing the whole time, which made it difficult for me to talk with my friends. 2. At 15 minutes to 21.00, a waiter asked us for our last drink orders. We did not receive these. When I asked, I was told it was too late.

We’ve just had an absolutely delicious meal here and got a fantastic welcome! They’re completely dog friendly and the furry members of our family were given a bowl of water and nibbles. I had the vegan Bang Bang Noodle Salad with sticky Korean meatless nuggets and I’m having this next time I visit too! It was SO yummy! My partner had the Chicken Katsu Curry which he said was equally delicious. The service was good, there was a live band and an excellent atmosphere. Loved it!

Loved the building's decor and spacious feel. They had some great live music on which was not too loud or intrusive. All our party were very happy with their meals. The hanging kebabs seemed very popular. The service was excellent. Quite pricey but fair for the quality of food and general experience.

Considering we were an hour early they still sitted us and the breakfast was lovely . Drinks bit pricey and because it was race week could have down with some entertainment . Overall very nice and will be using again .

We were given a table in the middle of the room, and when we asked for a quieter area, the waiter told us there were no other tables available—mind you, there was nobody else in the room. The music was extremely loud, so we asked if they could turn it down so we could talk. Again, the waiter ignored the request. So we told him that if they could not bring the volume down, we would have to cancel our order and find another restaurant. Two minutes later he brought us the bill (!) Appalling service.

I expected a reasonable meal here, just preconceptions, but it was actually very good. The decor and ambience were very pleasing and all the staff we interacted with were friendly and professional. The food was lovely and the portions were decent. The price was about right although there is a service charge automatically on the bill which still slightly annoys me. I always tip good service but think it should not be assumed. (Small detail really) I would definitely go again.

Atmosphere was fab! Service was fab! Good food overall. Only grievances were the chips/fries and also the fact that you only get chips with your kebab. So if you dislike heavily seasoned fries then all you have with your meal is meat & a bit of veg :( Please please ease up on the salt and rosemary (think it was rosemary) I am a massive chip lover and also love salt but it was wayyy too much and the rosemary just reminded me of a roast dinner. Also - desert menu - please get rid of all the butterscotch. Chocolate sauce all the way!

Food was good, but portions are not big but that could just be what I ordered. Service was average, they were busy and the staff forgot to bring water that was requested twice. The atmosphere might suit those into music being played too loud.

The botanist was once a great pub....not anymore. Went out on Friday, ordered 3 drinks that took 15 minutes. Glasses were dirty, bar staff were rude and music awful. Avoid, it is shockingly bad now.

We didn't try the food, but had a couple of cocktails. They were on the average to good scale. They were slightly undersized, and slightly overpriced. The service was lacking, as there was only one barman doing drinks for the whole bar and restaurant. (there is no table service in the bar). Its a nice place though, I expect it will be very busy on a Friday/Saturday night.

We all enjoyed cocktail making so much, we had the best time, and Leon was amazing, and he even came in to do it on his birthday, we all were so impressed how he handled all of us as we was on a hen do, defo a 10/10 from all of us and we will be back!!

Absolutely brilliant everything!!!!!

We went here for dinner on a Friday night. The cocktails were lovely, if a little expensive for the size they were and the food was delicious. They also had a good amount of vegan and vegetarian options which meant that people on those diets didn’t feel limited like they do in some other restaurants. The only issue was the service fee of 12.5% which is automatically added to the bill (even though we were only a table of three and had not had any special requirements that needed to be accommodated for) and we had to ask for it to be removed. Our waiter was not very friendly and didn’t engage with us much, and he also offered us things that we didn’t know would cost extra as an attempt to upsell us. After we asked him to remove the service charge (as we didn’t think his service warranted the £11 tip that was automatically added) he became a little bit sulky and didn’t talk to us at all even as he came over to clear the table of the final plates. Would go back to this restaurant but would hope for a different waiter and would also be sure to keep an eye on the service charge.

I am not a fan of the food it was not hot it was busy, so very noisy. I could not hear the music. We live in Essex, and it was one of grandson's birthday. I have been to some amazing restaurants in Cheltenham and would not return to this place

Abysmal service, (except for the waitress that took our order, she was organised and very pleasant) ... Sooooo slow, food generally OK- ish but kebabs were not very hot. Apparently ran out of draught cider (???) so had to buy expensive bottles. 'Very' disappointed and a tad embarrassed after recommending we visit for mum's 89th birthday!! Sorry, but I doubt we will be returning any time soon .... !!

We went here for a 21st birthday on a Saturday afternoon. The place looks amazing inside and is huge. We were there for the food, really, so all the fancy cocktails they do were wasted on me. The staff were very friendly and helpful. To be honest, I think the food menu is a bit limited, and some things are more expensive than expected. I had fish and chips for £15.50 which is quite a dear considering what it is. However, apart from that, I can't fault the place. I imagine it's a trendy place for the younger crowd, hence why we had a 21st birthday meal there. Kids get a free pudding when selecting from the children's menu. Mind you. the brownie did look very small. Nevertheless, it's a great place for group meals and to celebrate special occasions. The younger generation seem to like it. Definitely worth a visit.

Sat us down. Place had a good atmosphere but wasnt busy. Staff kept ignoring me and the misses. Asked a waitor to order and was ignored. We waited 20 mins then decided to leave and go else were.

Saturday evening and the place was buzzing! Service was good albeit slow on drink replenishment. Food was tasty, garlic prawns for starter was very nice as well as halloumi sticks with chilli dip. The katsu skewer was just ok, not particularly flavoursome and tepid in temperature. Limited choice of dessert if you dont like cookie dough! All in all a pleasant experience and it was certainly very busy with virtually every table occupied. Very loud inside but a good atmosphere and we enjoyed the live music too. Bit a typo in the loo though 😂😂😂

Order was sent out incorrectly, then the waitress practically threw our fries onto the table when we pointed out the order was incorrect. My wife then said that the fries will now be cold when our mains are brought out to which she replied yes probably.. terrible attitude from waitress!!!

We had a table booked but it took ages to get met at the door and seated. The acoustics were awful, it was loud and busy. We enjoyed the live singer when we could hear her. My cocktails were awful but they had taken so long to arrive we just drank them. The food was fine, it was hot and came quickly (before we'd got our drinks) but it had the order slip from the kitchen somehow underneath the bread which was off putting. A hefty service charge was added without permission (for a table of 2!?) When i asked the waiter to remove it he explained they were understaffed. Very disappointing

Lovely roast with all the trimmings cooked and presented to a high standard. My only negative comment is that I think the carrots were not as fresh as they could have been and looked a bit tired.

Initially we were told we weren't supposed to sit in a certain area of the venue -- I've got no problem with moving but it wasn't clear at all that the area was shut off -- no sign or barrier to speak of. We ordered from the first date menu -- only two of the four cocktails were available and were slow to be made -- but since that menu only came on in the new year and it was January 4th, that was somewhat understandable and not the fault of the waiters, who were very apologetic and consistently friendly.

Visited with friends on Saturday night. The main course was very tasty. Unfortunately the dessert had been hanging around and was cold. Disappointing as the dessert was a favourite. Staff were very attentive, a lovely night in all.

We visited for my daughters birthday and although the food was delicious we had to wait ages, and had to remind our waiter three times, for our drinks. We had starters without drinks and were half way through our main before we got them - no apology given or explanation as to why we waited and had to repeatedly remind them Given its reputation we were all extremely disappointed in what should have been a lovely evening - we left early to have drinks elsewhere

Arrived and thought place was lovely. Soon very disappointed though. “Hot board” starter was stone cold then Two of us ordered the “special” of katsu chicken skewers as a main course to be served up raw ( not undercooked I’m talking raw) chicken. Cold soggy chips and raw chicken. Disgusting food. Manager apologised but then wouldn’t leave us alone trying to dig his way out of the situation telling us about their rock solid processes - which clearly don’t work because otherwise raw chicken wouldn’t end up on customers plates. His constant jabbering to try and sooth his own ego was actually as big an issue and was the reason we left straight away.

Portion wasnt as big as I thought it would be I left still feeling hungry but our waitress was great and the various drinks were lovely

Looks lovely inside. Booked for NYE bash. Had a few problems with no table ready on arrival then our starters being sent to a different table but they were resolved quickly and the staff were very apologetic. Drinks were quite slow to come out but it was very busy being NYE. Overall it was an enjoyable evening.

Server had no interest in socialising with us had to of the main orders wrong, didn’t offer us dessert just brought bill after we had finished mains, he killed the vibe and made us feel like he wanted us gone as soon as we was seated.

I have to say that we visited on 23rd December and it was pretty quiet in the restaurant for the time of year. The serving staff were exceptional but the quality of the food was very disappointing. We were a party of 5 and ordered 3 festive soups which arrived in a cup and although the cup was warm the soup was cold. 2 of us had the traditional Turkey hanging kebab. I found the meat to be dry and chewy. The vegetables were also not cooked enough and again were not warm enough, just lukewarm.We opted not to have the dessert. Be aware that a service charge is added to the bill. For us this was £16 which we asked to be removed and paid our own tip. We were given a discount on the soups.I don’t think I will be visiting any Botanist restaurant for some time. Very disappointed.

The burger was great, the cookie dough desert was amazing!

The food was average but not worth the money. It was VERY loud for a sit down meal. They forgot our garlic bread and still added it on the bill. When I asked for a bill adjustment they didn’t give another receipt without me having to ask for the new adjusted one. The service was terrible especially for the service charge they added.

Branch in cheltenham is awful, went for my 21st birthday and the whole experience was just terrible and so disappointing for a lovely restaurant, food was served over an hour after we arrived, which was pre-ordered ? our drink orders were not even taken, food was cold. I have a party of 10 people and spend nearly £500 on drinks and food, honestly was only asking for the bare minimum such as sauces with our meals, it took a waitress over 20 minutes just to get me some ketchup after having to go and find her myself, by the time they arrived everyone was finished with their food, except me, on my birthday i was running around after staff the whole time and ate my food completely cold. Honestly completely ruined my birthday, kabab was dry and not enjoyable at all. I was sent a menu to pre order from which stated that the deal was 2 courses for a set price, when we arrived we were told the deal after 4pm is actually 3 courses, not 2 which meant we ended up paying more. No apology for this was given, even when i am certain this was not my issue due to being sent this menu around 1 week before attending to my booking. I had actually called before hand to ensure that this was the deal and the staff confirmed that it should be right if i was sent it. More things happened which i have sent an email about. Do not waste your money on this place! Lovely looking place, very badly ran.
