My friends come to this pub at least twice a week great atmosphere nice & clean always a good welcome great food great beer

Very nice appearance inside and out, great staff with polite,helpful and prompt service, food was lovely. My mum particularly enjoyed her beer battered mushrooms. Definitely visit again 👍

Had an amazing experience came here for lunch and couldn’t have been more impressed by the team behind the bar very friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent and definitely will be returning!

Very poor food this evening. One meal came out cold and sent back for them to microwave! Lasagne tasted really off. Sent back and apparently it was the last one left, so had to choose another meal. Staff said they are having a menu change and are running down the food, ready for Thursday’s change. I know it’s pub grub, but really very poor.

Just recently moved to this area,and will be a regular bringing family for a meal.i enjoyed the meal and service was quick ,staff very friendly.

The pub is definitely going from strength to strength. Staff are happy to be in work. The food is always to a good standard as well. We visit often and have become on first name terms with a few. I know clare, lyn and Toby all work hard and go above and beyond at times! Will definitely be back especially as I can bring the dogs too!

Poor definitely gone down hill recently Sunday dinners have changed came out fast before and was hot and fresh unfortunately went with friends had a terrible time meat was definitely microwaved veg was soggy and stinky won't be coming again

Had the Sunday roast rib of beef didn't have to wait long only 5mins but mine was very fatty and not very warm, when I told the waitress she said sorry but some we have delivered come like that, I thought well that's it like it or lump it, sorry won't be going back.

I booked for Easter lunch as I was very happy with their Sunday roast lunch. It advertised For Easter Sunday meal so I expected that they would have a separate Easter menu. But we were told that they just serve Sunday roast. Disappointed but hoped that it would be fine as long as they serve good Sunday roast but what a disappointment! Potatos were clearly from frozen and vegetables were all dry. I felt so embarrassed as I have invited friends and told them this pub does real good roast dinner. I have been regular to this place but I am not sure now. I really don't understand why they have advertised for Easter set meal starting from 16.99 when they serve their ordinary Sunday roast.

Friendly staff, good choice of beers, good menu choices, great tasting food. Clean and tidy. Dog friendly. Relaxing atmosphere . Overall an enjoyable experience and will come again.

We often have lunch here. The food is freshly cooked and good value for money. We have tried several things on the menu, including burgers, hunters chicken, mixed grill, curry, calamari, lasagne, haddock and chips and scampi and chips. The servers are a credit to The Greatfield (our most recent one was Louis) They are friendly, polite and helpful and make the experience all the better. The only small criticism is that the chips could be crisp.

We often go here for lunch. We have had a variety of meals including curry, hunters chicken, burgers, calamari, soup, haddock and chips, lasagne and mixed grill. All of them have been really good, freshly cooked and very good value for money. We have had a variety of servers (the latest one was Louis) and they have all been friendly, polite and very helpful. This makes the experience all the more delightful. The atmosphere is good and parking excellent. The only thing that could be improved is that their chips could be crisp on the outside!

The Greatfield was an amazing spot for a night out. Friendly small community pub, all of the staff were really welcoming.

Awful. Waited over half hour for our meal. They weren't even busy! Forgot to put potatoes on one dinner plate, waited another 10mins for them to do that,. The veg was dreadful. Cabbage was dreadful, leeks and green beans not hot. Two puddings were ordered taking another 20 minutes to arrive. Very poor service.

We went to The Greatfield for Sunday lunch last week and there were three of us and we each ordered a roast and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The beef was so tender and there were plenty of vegetables and the gravy was delicious. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

The Posh Fish and Chips was below average. The batter was soggy,the peas were supposed to be ‘mushy’ but were normal peas and the chips not crispy. We would’ve sent it back but one of us would be left eating on our own. It was edible but extremely poor quality. The London tonic water we both had on tap (elderflower and orange) was probably the worst tonic we’ve ever had. It tasted like stale ice. My lasagna was fine though.

Amazing place, from first walking in till the minute we left the team couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. Came in for a bite to eat at lunch time and there was a lovely atmosphere which so many pubs are missing at the moment! The food was amazing, both the taste and presentation! Definitely would be returning and recommend to everyone

Awful service, communication, and atmosphere. Ordered our first toogoodtogo bag 24hrs in advance from this place, and then another 1hour before pick up, only to arrive at 9:15pm and the staff were clueless. Very loud music so could hardly hear but they asked if we had wristbands to be allowed in the pub, we explained the app and they were confused saying they stopped serving food at 4pm so had nothing left. I asked if it was possible for a refund, showed them and they not helpfully told me 'don't click the button that confirms you collected the order...' Very disappointed and some choice words were said on the drive home!

Not up to standard, ran out of Sunday roast (on Sunday!) and more or less all we wanted.

Unfortunately I need to share a very disappointing experience with the food in this place. My family visited to celebrate my son’s birthday yesterday evening (21/11/23). I ordered a medium rare steak which was not only an awful cut of meat, it was cooked very poorly. My wife ordered a simple veggie burger which should have come with chips. However, the waitress brought all the food out and said the chef had dropped the chips on the floor (even though I saw her drop chips on the floor). We then had to wait a good 10 minutes for more chips to appear by which time was too late as my wife could not wait so the burger was eaten without chips. When they did arrive, she apologised and said she had forgotten to bring them as they were stuck on the side. Ironically, they were undercooked and hard. I last visited the Greatfield for food about 5 years ago and it was terrible then. In fact having complained back then, I was sent a £10 voucher which I just could not bring myself to spend and pour more good money after bad. In addition, I was warned about the dreadful quality of the steaks here just last week but foolishly ordered one. My disappointment is on 2 levels: 1. If your chef is unable to cook steak properly, please don’t sell it 2. Please train / empower your staff to turn a bad situation into a good one. My wife’s meal should have been refunded. THAT’S good customer service and I would have been writing about that. In contrast, the Hatherley pub 15 minutes walk away do absolutely superb food! Never ever had a bad meal there. I hope you are able to take the positive out of the feedback. Love the atmosphere, great staff, great beer but Im afraid next time we will be swerving your food!!!!

I've been to the Greatfield a few times over the past couple of years and simply put it never disappoints. It's not the food, the venue, the atmosphere of anything tangible. It's that every time I feel like I'm welcome, that it seems to matter to all the staff whether you have a nice time. Small things go wrong, there's miscommunication, there might be the odd problem with your food order - but somehow it never seems to matter - a little like when you're with family. Thank you to the team for yet another very pleasant lunch time.

Absolutely lovely evening with a friend here last night. The staff were so friendly and accommodating- Toby, Ruby and Georgia. Sarah the Manager was always around, smiling and helpful. The atmosphere was great! Will deffo be back!

Had a fantastic Turkey dinner, well worth the money. Have become regulars on a Sunday due to the friendly atmosphere and staff, Georgie especially made us feel really welcome.

Came to celebrate 60yrs of being together. Meal I wanted was not available neither was second choice. Very disappointed. Staff were apologetic. Ended up with ham egg and chips.

Considering I gave this place 5 stars recently, I'm saddened to be leaving a 1 star review now... unsure what has happened within their kitchen however their standards have certainly slipped!!! Very long waits from ordering to food arriving.. items arrived cold and even raw/ undercooked!!! A huge shame considering how much I complimented the place in previous months. Hopefully things can change back to how it was with food as we did enjoy coming...

Nice pub. Lovely layout inside. Bar staff friendly. However, considering the pub was pretty empty, the wait on the food order was very long. We were a table of 4, but the meal order failed to be served at the same time. One meal took 40 minutes to arrive! Got the distinct impression that the cook must be new or inexperienced? Perhaps because food is available all day, they can’t afford to one. Food is typical freezer to oven style. Clean but just average at best.

My mother and I went to the Greatfield. My mother ordered the Lasagne which was clearly burnt with the top layer of pasta hard and blackened. We spoke to James who introduced himself as the Assistant Manager. He was courteous and friendly. He agreed the lasagne was burned and offered a replacement. When the replacement lasagne arrived, it was the same as the first serving except the accompanying salad was now warm and limp having been stuck under a heat lamp and the garlic bread was missing. We complained again and Sarah, the Manager came to our table. She said there was nothing wrong with the blackened, inedible lasagne and added there was nothing wrong with the first serving. She continued to argue this point until we realised we were getting nowhere. I said I would be posting a negative review to which she replied “That’s a bit harsh and anyway there is no point because I deal with all the reviews.” The point of ordering food is that you intend to eat the food. If the food is burnt to the extent that it is inedible saying so could hardly be described as ‘Harsh’! More worrying however is that her reply implied that negative reviews were somehow dismissed or concealed by Sarah. It suggested posting a negative review was a total waste of our time as Sarah and the Greatfield were protected from criticism. This was not a matter of taste or any customer peculiarity. The food was burnt to the extent it was inedible and the assistant manager James agreed. Sarah's attitude was argumentative and dismissive. We found her behaviour disgraceful and not what we would expected from Ember inns which I have visited many times. The manner in which a company handles complaints is very revealing. To be so argumentative is unprofessional and shocking but to tell a customer that posting a negative review is pointless is naïve to say the least!

What a great place to catch up with friends! The staff are so friendly and attentive and the food is so good! I have never had a steak cooked so well! Will definitely be back soon!

Cozy local pub, nice food on the menu and the serving staff were lovely.

2 friends on a weekend trip, after walking loads we googled, with discount foods. A Delight 😊 Place, lovely smiles on reception and service. The food was fresh 😋 cooked and hearty. We sat outside on such a pleasant day looking into the distantly hills for a walk 🚶‍♀️ 🚶‍♀️tomorrow. We had calamari, tomato soup (made on site) with lovely warm fresh made bread, fish & chips with mushy peas and garlic dip. Desrt was spot on, mouthwatering , sticky toffee pudding with ice cream apple pie with ice cream so fresh and warm. This is what eating out should be all about.

I had the gammon it was nice, food was hot. However,the pineapple was chargrilled which dried it out, I think they should have left it fresh. We also had to wait a long time for our desserts they had forgotten to do it.I asked twice eventually asking a third time we received them so abit disappointing.

Unfortunately this review has had to have a rethink 3 of us decided to have a Sunday lunch 2 of us ordered starters and roasts for the mains And 1 decided to order a hunters chicken After 30 minutes the starters (of which they were perfectly fine and enjoyable) 1 hour later the mains arrived cold and looked like they had been left under a hot plate for the duration Most of the staff were amazing, very apologetic and couldn't have done more The manager however was very rude and made us feel like we were the reason why the food was cold and tried to charge full price for the drinks and starters even though the price stated that the starters would have been half price when bought with a main meal I would avoid unless u have 3 hours for a 2 course meal and don't mind if it comes out cold This is a real shame as this was one of the better pubs in hatherley Edit: Thank you for the reply in good faith we will visit again soon Apologies I have only just seen the reply from the owner

Food and service were excellent. Busy lunch time but food came promptly and staff were friendly and efficient. Great to see the manger heavily involved in the running of the operation ensuring everything was working smoothly. The only thing that needs improving is the fabric of the building. It could do with a major refurb.

The people working here are very helpful and kind. I ordered the tomato soup, and the food is delicious. Great front of house staff and kitchen staff!
