Popular, well used convenience store and takeaway on the main road through Otterburn. Stocks just about everything you would expect in terms of provisions and household supplies. Prices are what you would expect for a convenience store in a fairly remote spot. We have stayed in accommodation nearby (twice) and find ourselves popping in most days. We have always received nothing less than a friendly welcome from whoever was behind the counter. The real gem is the takeaway food, which is cooked to order, with generous portions and very competitively priced. We enjoyed superb fish and chips, as good as any chippy (and better than many) and really lovely pizzas- the family deal is great value. Thank you.

We were staying at Otterburn cabins on Saturday night and came across a menu for pizzas (for Fridays ) We called and they were extremely helpful by turning on the ovens just for us, we really appreciated this and order 7 pizzas, pop, chips, and tray bakes. No lie but the food was amazing and their hospitality, friendliness was outstanding, Thank you from us all M Henderson

Used to drop in here every week for three years for a bacon sandwich and a lottery ticket to and from work in the Borders. I liked the community feel and the fact that it was giving local young people employment. I won’t be returning ever again. I called in at tea time to find that it has been taken over by an Indian family who clearly don’t value their customers. One member of the family was standing behind the counter ignoring customers whilst the other seemed to be arguing with a local lady who simply wanted to collect a parcel. The queue eventually went out of the doors whilst the man behind the counter just failed to acknowledge anyone. I won’t pay to be ignored and gathering from the comments of others they will go elsewhere.

For a convenience store in a small village you would expect the prices to be a bit steep, but you would be wrong. There not that much different to a supermarket and they have quite an extensive selection of goods. Why bother travelling miles to a supermarket when this store is on the doorstep?

We stopped for lunch & were surprised to see the cafe deserted as it was bang on lunch time. There was a young man in a pinny hovering around when we arrived & despite our best efforts to make conversation we got nothing back on his part. Having given up on trying to converse with him we ordered soup & tea for two - fully intending to follow with something cakey for afters. The soup was absolutely spot on - tasty & lovely & thick, however, it could have been hotter - another couple of minutes in the microwave might have sufficed. It was accompanied by a bread roll with 2 portions of decent butter. However, we thought 3 teabags in a very small teapot, which yielded a small cup of tea each, was way overpriced at £4! We finished our soup & decided we'd have a clotted cream scone for afters but the young man in the pinny never came back - having waited, & waited some more, we decided not to bother. We were surprised at the lack of attention, given that we were the only cafe occupants at the time, so they were hardly run off their feet. Paying the overpriced bill also proved to be traumatic - as we got no attention at the table, we approached a lady in the shop who sent us back to the cafe & said someone would come to take the money - however, the man who came to take the payment had no idea how to work the till. All in all, a frustrating visit to this cafe....

I was working in otterburn so called in here for a breakfast. It was 3.99 for a small breakfast or 5.99 for large breakfast neither includes toast or a drink it is 2 pounds for a tea and 2.5 for a coffee. We got our drinks within minutes then hat to wait 15 mins for our breakfast to come out 30 mins after that still no toast so decided to leave it. Upon paying they still tried to charge for non existent toast. I travel all over the country and never had such a poor breakfast or experienced worse customer service. I like what this place is trying to do, expanding the service offered by their community shop to provide a cafe for locals and people passing through this area where there isn't a lot of places to eat. I was also surprised at the generous opening hours, even on a Sunday. However, the food was very average and whilst very reasonably priced, I would have preferred to pay more for food that tasted better.

The only negative thing I would say is to how small it is, you feel as though you're sitting on the knees of the person on the table next to you, you have to have a quiet conversation or the whole cafe will hear you. You get free wifi though which is a bonus as EE don't have the best phone signal up there!
