Beautiful venue, gorgeous decor and an all round feel-good atmosphere. Kelly was brilliant, accommodating and absolutely spot on with communication (an internet/ipad error meant our order didn’t go straight to the kitchen but she noticed straight away and kept us informed). More than acceptable wait! My dessert was also taken down wrong but this wasn’t an issue it was quickly rectified. I will definitely be returning!

The surrounds are lovely and the staff very pleasant. However not impressed with the service it was slow and disjointed. The waiters kept coming into the dinning area but not clearing tables away. We asked about our starters after waiting over 40 mins. No soup spoon then it was a dessert spoon. The vegetables were well over cooked and barely edible whilst the potatoes undercooked. The cauliflower cheese came out ten minutes after our main course then only because we reminded the waiter. The trio of meat very tasty although the beef was slightly over done along with my husband's lamb. This is the 1st time we have had Sunday lunch. Not impressed over cooked and over priced We have been a couple of times for an evening meal and always been satisfied. We were really looking forward to it such a shame.

Visited for Lunch with friends today. We all had different meals from an extensive menu. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Plenty of tables in a lovely courtyard or inside too. It was very busy but service was good, staff attentive. Meal prices are reasonable. It is situated next to the River Don , so a lovely area for a walk after lunch.

Beautiful venue inside and out. The sandwiches were lovely and just enough for us . We couldn’t get enough of the beef dripping sauce! Served by friendly faces, including Adrian and his snazzy shirt, who was brilliant.

Beautiful calamari for started. Then we had beef & belly pork for mains. Extremely tasty, plates piled high. Great to see so many folk outside enjoying the warmer weather.

We have just come back from Sunday lunch at the Boat Inn, we've had a lovely meal, service was perfect, didn't wait for our drinks or food, we had the lamb rump and it was delicious and plentiful- - - plus as much gravy as you wanted, and a scrummy sticky toffee pudding to finish with. All the staff were really pleasant, especially Adrian our server who looked after us so well. We shall be back!

Just had the most amazing Sunday Roast. Perfect location by the river. Friendly staff and very accommodating. We turned up at midday without a reservation. They were happy to squeeze us (family of 4). Great service and great atmosphere! Andrew was very good - getting our orders promptly and offered our son some crayons. Highly recommend.

Pretty poor evening all round. Sat on top of a table next to us - had to climb over our own chairs to get to the bar/toilets. Waited an hour for food, then friends food arrived well over-cokked so had to be returned. Everyone at the table had finished eating by the time the replacement food arrived, so friend left eating by himself while we sat and watched. Spoke to Manager on shift, who was very apologetic, but what could anybody do to rectify an evening that was spoilt from the start? Very disappointing, and will not be visiting again. Very poor.

Lovely pub with a fantastic menu and options even for someone with gluten intolerance. The staff couldn’t have been nicer, especially Adrian with his wild shirt! Food was lovely, very fresh and well presented.

The Boat Inn has a chilled atmosphere. All the team were friendly, in particular Adrian, who took our order was happy to help and was very informative about the food, which I have to say was gorgeous. Aswell as the classics, there is a selection of plates that you wouldn't normally find on a pub menu. I ordered the pan roast lamb. Tender lamb rump, served medium, with a hearty mini minted lamb pie, gratin potato, Tenderstem® broccoli and a red wine jus. I 100% recommend this place.

We visited to try the new menu and it did not disappoint. Food was lovely and the service was even better. Adrian went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed.

Ordered lunch from the 2 course menu the starters came after a short wait but then we waited almost an hour and the main course hadn t arrived. I asked the waitress and she checked the till for our order and said they had been busy but our meal would be out next they were waiting for chips we watched several more meals come out with chips ours finally arrived half an hour later. The chips were luke warm and the potatoes on the other meal were hard and under done. We won t be in a rush to go back.

Repeat lunch with a friend and have to say that the experience today was the best. Very attentive staff and no LONG wait for drinks and food. Adrian looked after us very well, was unsure before but now a regular!

We were out and about, travelling in Yorkshire, when we were on the lookout for a place to have a meal before travelling home. A quick check on Trip advisor led us off the beaten track to "The Boat House" We called to book a table, and made our way over. The first reaction was, the setting.... beautiful river and views. The restaurant area was very busy, and well laid out, clean and welcoming. A very nice staff took our order. The atmosphere was great, lots of chat. Food was amazing! Hot well presented and delicious. You could not fault it. Wow...the meringue dessert was a work of art, and came decorated with tiny flowers! The server was attentive, but intrusive. The meal was fabulous, as was the place. We will most definitely be back, thank you... The Boat House!

Out with Friends: Great evening, excellent food, and fantastic restorations following our recent floods. The staff were also very welcoming…. This was our first time at the Boat Inn for many years and , although I had heard how good it was, we were more than happy with our evening and will certainly return in the near future. The most impressive things on the menu although the choices were many (too difficult to choose from in fact!!) were the skewers… 3/4 of us had these chilcken and lamb…. I had the lamb and it was beautiful, with the feta salad which went really well. My husband had the pizza, (which he did not share so it must have been good): it was thin base with fresh jalapeños giving a quite a good kick!!!! Desserts were fantastic but none of us had space….. NEXT TIME!!!!! The waiter was funny he wore a really wacky shirt which the other staff said was one of a massive wardrobe…. So if anyone reads this please share your pics😂😂😂

We often use the Boat as a halfway stop on our Journey's up North. Food and prices are reasonable and what you would expect from a Gastro pub. I would reccomend a visit as the pub and the surroundings are very appealing.

This location fulfilled all our expectations for an evening meal, the dining room was warm and inviting the staff were professional and the food was exceptional. As a party of 4 we tried a variety off the menu from Fillet steak to Belly Pork and Skewers and we all commented on the standard of cuisine. The service that we received was excellent but not overbearing and the quality of drinks and food could not be faulted, this establishment is highly recommended for either a casual meal or a more formal occasion.

Four of us arrived at the Boat Inn at 14:00 on Saturday, 07 Oct 2023 having booked a table the previous day! There were three members of Staff behind the bar and one customer who was buying a bottle of beer and a coffee and wanted a bowl of water for her dog. The person serving her decided he was best employed taking a bowl of water for the dog outside rather than taking us to our table. Neither of the other two members of Staff thought attending to us worthwhile so we had to wait until the bowl carrier returned before being taken to our table and informed it was Table Service only, left with four menu's and off he went. Quite some time later a member of Staff approached and asked if we'd like to order any drinks? He took the Beer orders from the males of the party but when the female diners attempted to order a bottle of wine, muttered under his breath and disappeared. Following another lengthy wait, a pleasant waitress appeared and informed us that our first waiter was unfamiliar with the tablets they used to take order on! The Boat Inn is part of Vintage Inns and I had a £30.00 reward voucher which I showed to the young lady. This resulted in a further delay while she took my phone away to confirm it would be honoured. On her return, we were finally able to order our drinks, including the bottle of wine and our mains (due to the extended wait we'd had plenty of time to peruse the menu and make our selection (two sea bass fillets with chips replacing the mash, a Hunter's Chicken Schnitzel with a dressed side salad and a Signature burger). A short while later the original member of staff brought our drinks, the beers being handed to the men while the bottle of wine was deposited in a wine bucket beside the table but no attempt was made to serve the ladies. Not a huge problem as the bottle had a screw cap but we where expecting the waiter to remove the cap and pour out the wine for our companions. There had been one empty table and two occupied ones in addition to the table we'd been sat at when we first entered the restaurant. By the time our food arrived, we were the only occupants of the room (a young couple did occupy one of the table by the time we ordered dessert). This is meant to illustrate both how busy the restaurant was and the length of time our order took to arrive. I should mention that the Boat Inn has a very large outdoor area which is very popular with dog owners especially when the weather was as pleasant as it was on that day). Our mains eventually arrived although originally the dressed side salad was missing and both the girls were more than content with their food. Unfortunately, both males found the sea bass fillets formed extremely skimpy meals and as a result we decided a dessert was called for, the ladies both opted for the classic banoffee pie while the men chose sticky chocolate pudding and bramley apple, blackcurrent and cherry crumble and both jokingly said "With plenty of Custard". When the bill arrived (just under £140.00) I was astonished to find that both the men had been charged 50p for extra custard! As we were both served with a single small gravy boat of custard it's difficult to see how they delivered this extra custard. This combined with the slow and indifferent service has meant we failed to enjoy our dining experience at the Boat Inn. The young lady who served us was pleasant and helpful and we found nothing to complain about as far as she was concerned. The other members of Staff who interacted with our party were at best indifferent and unprofessional. To be fair to the establishment, the quality of the food was excellent merely lacking in quantity as far as the sea bass was concerned, we may have contributed to this by substituting chips for the mashed potatoes. However the indifferent service was inexcusable when so many Gastro Pubs are competing for our custom. I also acknowledge we received a discount of £30.00 as part of Vintage Inns loyalty scheme but still feel what we received was poor value!

We had a lovely meal at the boat inn today, and was served by Danielle- who was very friendly and took really good care of us!! The food was delicious and we will definitely be back very soon! X

Ambiance of the boat inn is stunning, the sea bass 3 out the 4 of us had was perfectly cooked and the attention to service by Adrian was first class. We shall return to this hidden gem.

My wife and I took our mum's out for lunch. Not really an occasion but we don't often get time together. We were seated in a room on our own with just one table which was nice and cosy. Drinks and mains were ordered without fuss and all was ok. The food was reasonably good value (the ribeye steak was a bit tough but that can happen sometimes with steak and my wife's sirloin wasn't entirely cooked as requested but we don't like to complain). However, because we were in this room on our own, once we received our food we were sort of forgotten about. No one checked that it was ok. No one came back so we could order dessert, no one came to present the bill..... We were there for nearly two hours so it's not as if we were rushing. As an experience it was a bit flat. Slightly disappointing food and reasonably poor service. It was our first time and probably the last.

There is always a lovely feel to this place, nice atmosphere and friendly staff who greet you warmly. Adrian has got to know us from our frequent visits and makes you feel like a true local which is a lovely touch - even if he does look like Alfie Moon!

The staff is very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The beef was tender and very tasty however the pie could do with a few more pieces of meat. Adrian was very accommodating when we were ordering desserts due to my mother's dietary needs. Would come back again to try out other dishes.

Location lovely, Staff were all very friendly, couldn’t fault any of them. Mains we’re ok but the Prawn Cocktail, which I had previously but over a year ago was terrible. Last time it was large prawns in marie rose sauce and rustic white bread & real butter. This one had 9 small prawns with mayonnaise and frozen avocado on 2 lettuce leaves with a slice of brown bread & sunflower spread. Can’t remember exact price but around £7 & was vile. Shame as the pub & staff are spot on but won’t be going back.

Having last visited the Boat pre-Covid and been extremely disappointed both with service and the meal I called in today with my elderly mother by chance. What a revelation. The venue now appears to be under new management. We were warmly welcomed immediately at the bar by polite, attentive and engaged staff , drinks were ordered quickly and I was astonished at the range of wines and beers and other on tap, I was given a choice of non-alcoholic beer as I was driving, and Mum on orange juice. Sitting outside in the sunshine I was struggling with the sunshade. Staff immediately came in remedy this and made sure Mum was comfortable. Looking at the menu. We decided on identical items. Both ordering the seabass with a veloute sauce, seasoned mash, and they kindly changed our steam broccoli to side salad. To describe it as superb would be an understatement. Even the salad was served with a delicious tart vinaigrette. We both demolished it and clean plates were left for the staff to collect. We decided to try the sweet menu and we both again collectively went to the vanilla crème brûlée. Plates arrived with the most beautiful tiny decorations on it, not sure what they were could be wrong but suspect to bee pollen and tiny dry flowers and desiccated fruits . We both looked at each other and went wow.. I cannot believe the difference in this restaurant Gastro pub now and being a bit of a food snob, I’m very difficult to please, however, I will have no hesitation whatsoever in returning to the boat now under its new management. Even the courtyard and outside area was immaculate. An absolutely gorgeous afternoon and thank you both to the very talented chef and the staff for a wonderful lunch and time out for mum.

Have not been in years as every time I came the food was not good … however. As it was a hot day we decided to go out for a drink and had a look at the menu …. We ordered at our table and paid. Really easy I have to say. Was not sure if they got the order but the food arrived with 15 mins. I ordered a chicken burger and at first glance it looked over cooked ! So I was immediately disappointed. But I got stuck in and to be fair it was delicious ! Had a onion type bath I with it which was lovely. Husband had signature burger and his looked not great but it was lovely ! So all in all it was pleasant and food was nice. Staff nice. Clean and tidy. Will go again. Well done. Much much better x
