Service was great … shame food wasn’t as good went for 85 th birthday special occasion … 3 plates of food lukewarm all send back my Sunday lunch went twice on the 3rd time it was hot .. but meat had dried out … as a chef myself I wouldn’t serve dark beef gravy with turkey !!!! Very dissapointed …. Waitress and waiter s great service …. Chef s need a kick up backside …. Luke warm food not acceptable on cold plates …. Seriously dissapointed ….

This was a 60th birthday surprise!!! Possibly one of the best birthdays. We were in a more secluded area. Staff were kind and attentive and amazing. The food was delicious and I can’t fault anything. We were looked after and treated exceptionally . The waitress responsible for our 2 tables was very helpful friendly and professional. The atmosphere was great. Always delivers. We love this place, the food is fresh and tasty. With the difficulties for everyone with costs over the last couple of years the prices have been raised and portions less however we totally get it and the flavour still remains amazing. This time we had the thai skewers a firm favourite for my husband and I opted for the skewers also but as a diabetic i can't have the rice, so gave my portion to hubby whilst having the tandoori roasted veg as a side. As a paragon it does them proud, just wish the consistency went to the other pubs as they do not deliver the same quality.

Took our mum tiday to celebrate her 80th birthday.. food was ok . customer service wasn’t great ., no attention for someone reaching there 80th birthday would of expected more … didn’t make her feel special reaching such a mike in her life .. very disappointing. .

Nice decor, staff are friendly, good coffee but was disappointed in the food. Went on the Saturday before Mothers day to find the lunch menu was off which is fine but should of been highlighted on the website when booking, for the mains 3 of us had seabass at £21 whilst the fish was fine the mash potato and veg that accompanied it was completely tasteless and so watery I'm not so sure they didn't just serve smash the tenderstem brocoli was overcooked and the whole plate was just swimming with water what was was supposed to be buttery mash and chilli spice was completely bland and diluted by all the water.

Lovely food best chips EVER. Fish was fresh and beautifully cooked in light beer batter. A tad expensive but we'll worth a visit. Will visit again very soon.

We called for lunch around 1.00pm after visiting the nearby Bridgemere Garden Centre. Being a lunchtime and with it being such a large place we didnt expect to have any problem getting. But we were asked if we had a booking..sorry no, but she said ooh I can actually squeeze you in... Which we thought might have been a bit of an exageration...but not so! The place was indeed completely full bar our one table for 2 luckily. Which is unbelievable really for a weekday in the afternoon isnt it?? Especially for somewhere "out in the sticks" with no immediate catchment area around it. On reflection after the meal I could see why- the food was proper food cooked by a proper chef and no doubt this huge following was a reward for presenting excellent food! I always maintained that a proper chef cooking top rated food would attract the customers and here was a living proof and example. Pre meal we were invited to order drinks and whilst my good wife had her usual none alcoholic choice of soda and lime I asked for a pint of bitter, Dark or light sir? I chose dark and was then presented with a most delicious pint of Titanic plum porter beer Perfect thick creamy head and the best tasting beer I have had for quite some while-absolutely perfectly conditioned. What a shame I was limited to just one! As it was only lunch, we didnt even go for anything sizeable or extraordinary..and missed both starter and pudding and just had one course. The wife chose fish goujons...which were very large and sumptuously cooked she said. I can best reflect however upon my own choice -the chicken ham and leek pie with chunky chips and a rosemary sauce. Now tbh, with that I didnt expect much of a variation as I thought theres not a lot you can do with that....how wrong I was again! As long as the pastry was right I hoped..(I despair at the places that serve those pies with puff pastry on top! Ughh..that is like candy floss and collapses into nothing as soon as you fork it!). Anyway..THIS was proper pastry! Sturdy, filling and beautifully cooked, oh my word it was lovely. The pie filling was luscious too BUT the whole thing was illuminated by the most incredible white sauce I have ever tasted! I can just about cope with a bit of rosemary...but this...this hardly tasted of just that and was simply gorgeous and savoury- a perfect accompaniment to the taste of the pie. Truly- it was heavenly! A sprig of tenderstem broccoli was partnered with a slice of parsnip that Im not even sure how was cooked but that alone was divine! I think a chef has achieved his purpose when he leaves you in wonderment and mystery as to how he cooked your meal. And today I certainly was left exactly like that. So well done chef whoever you are. The staff were very amiable and service perfect-especially given that it was so full.. Literally the only thing I didnt like was that they have joined the growing Americanised habit of charging a service charge on the bill. I dislike this habit as Im fully prepared always to leave a decent tip when the service matches it as today..but to be enforced to do it? Hmmm. Nothing enough to spoil the whole experience but I just dont wish they would do this. Total bill (including said service charge) was just short of £40 which, with drinks included I thought was great value for the level of food, venue and service. Fantastic venue- and thoroughly recommend this to anyone!

Exceptional meal- Mussels cooked in yellow Thai curry were outstanding, hats off to the chef. Followed by slow cooked belly pork with smoked sausage and pea puree simply fantastic on the taste buds. Finally the lemonchello cheesecake with honeycomb ice-cream was delicious. Fabulous meal, staff were very pleasant and attentive, atmosphere great.

On arrival we went to the desk and a gentleman said he would be with us in a moment then went onto take table orders and clear plates whilst waitress after waitress walked past us. We were shown to our table, the seats our comfortable and the restaurant is decorated nicely and our drinks orders were taken. They appear to be very pro active against allergies which was good to see. We ordered the soups to start which was broccoli and blue cheese I asked the waiter how strong the blue cheese would be but he didn't know. I think knowledge of the food is a basic must for waiting staff. The soup was served hot but was only about 1/3 filled which seemed a little on the mean side but was very nice and at the price you cannot quibble. We had the set menu which was 2 courses for 21.00 or three courses for 25.00 a service charge of 7.5% is also added to the bill. We also ordered two Sunday roasts a beef dinner and a duo of beef and ham and a side order of smoked apple wood cauliflower cheese. The roasts were plentiful and everything tasted great but it was only luke warm also the cauliflower cheese wasn't brought out even though the waiter acknowledged this when bringing the roasts so we expected it to follow shortly after we had eaten half the roast we tried to get a waiters attention to chase up the cauliflower cheese there was no apology and we ordered extra gravy in the hope of warming our food up which was now cold. The cauliflower cheese was nice and it was hot but the gravy was cold. I complained to a waiter who again didn't apologise but said he would pass it onto the chef. As this was our first time here we thought there must have been a reason for the food not being warm never mind being hot, and would have returned again to give them another chance but looking at the negative reviews I can see a consitancy in most of the negative reviews mention cold food so this is a clear problem that needs to be sorted otherwise it will be detrimental to the business. This has already put us off from returning which is such a shame given that the quality of food was very good. We ordered the sticky toffee pudding and the fruit crumble and both were very tasty. We had also ordered malbec with the food and this was very good too. Price wise we think this restaurant is very good value but they must address the temperature of the food as something is failing. I only wish now that we rejected the food and asked for it to be re-heated or exchanged. Also when customers complain about missing items or cold food the waiting staff should not just alert the chef but also apologise and alert the manager. We were offered no discount but really an apology would have been nice. Its such a shame that issues like this are not sorted when a restaurant first begins to notice a trend in the negative reviews it gets and not just get complacement in what is already a very competitive market with plenty of choice for customers to visit their competitors instead. I've tried to be very constructive in this review with the hope they sort these issues out and watch their negative reviews decline.

Tuesday lunchtime in January, miserable weather, my wife had suggested we call in somewhere for a meal on our way home from shopping. Pulled in to the car park at the Boars Head, never been there before, it was pretty full which augured well. The restaurant was busy but we had no problem getting a table. What followed was a superb experience, friendly, efficient but unhurried service and above all the food was ourstanding. Each of the six dishes we chose between us was well presented, very tasty and good value for money. Sadly this place is a bit too far from home for it to be a regular destination for us but we will undoubtedly call again. Highly recommended.

We visited the Boars Head on Sunday as a group of 12 to celebrate my husband’s 70th birthday. From the initial booking they were outstanding and allocated a quieter area of the pub for us. Due to illness our numbers changed at the last minute but this was no problem and they quickly moved the table around to accommodate the new number of people. The service was fantastic and thoughtful touches like bringing out the children’s food first was greatly appreciated. The waitress who served us ( sorry didn’t get her name ) was so attentive and professional and can’t thank her enough. She has served us before and she is just amazing. The food ( Sunday roasts ) were hot and delicious and the desserts to die for. Considering the size of the party the food was served promptly and any additional requests were quickly delivered. We have never had a bad meal at the Boars Head and it will continue to be our favourite pub.

Waitress Service excellent, management very poor.Food quality varied! One meal served cold plus haddock fillet ice cold in centre completely undercooked. Replacement cold meal ok. Replacement haddock cooked but batter soft sponge not crisp. Manager sent a message with a young waitress that they would not charge for haddock. What should’ve happened was manager attended table to apologise for errors and infirm us about reduced charge. The whole experience tarnished a family meal out and as we were leaving the manager scurried away. Staff were excellent, apologising for late delivery of beers due to changing barrel, and were friendly and courteous throughout. Can’t say the same for the manager.

Lovely meal at the end of a betwixtmas walk. Other local pubs had stopped serving food mid-afternoon but the Boars Head could fit us in. The meal was really lovely (sea bass and a burger for mains). The bread selection was fabulous, we loved it. I’m annoyed about the lack of an apostrophe in the name of the place but the food was lovely. Oh and the Zinfandel red wine went down very well.

Went for Christmas dinner today at £99 per head. The soup was barely warm, brought the starters at the same time. Roast potatoes so hard that I found them difficult to cut. Plenty of turkey which was good. Hardly any custard on the Christmas pudding and to top it all the coffee was almost cold. My friend actually paid the £16 service charge and gave a £12 tip which I did not agree with. Went in the summer time and they had run out of cheese and biscuits and the coffee machine was out of order. Thought that I would give it another try but won’t be going again.

We would really like to give the Boars Head a positive review, however the soup starter was not hot and tasted run of the mill. Sausage and mash was poor and the ham, chips and eggs were cold, overcooked and of poor quality. Sadly we will not be returning. On a positive the staff are really polite and friendly and the premises is clean and modern.

nice family meal at the boars head over the weekend. i would highly recommend the vegan burger to anybody who is visiting this restaurant, it was definitely the best vegan burger i’ve ever had! every bite of my meal was thoroughly enjoyable :)

I had the Thai chicken skewer for main. It was cooked with a lovely flavouring. Rice came with a yellow curry and that was great too. Finished with a sticky toffee pudding. Fantastic. Staff were lovely too. 7.5% service charge is on the bill.

Visited for lunch with my partner and his sisters to celebrate their mother’s 97th birthday. Absolutely wonderful food and impeccable, friendly service. All of which made the occasion really special. Thank you.

Absolutely sublime. Group of 9 of us went for Sunday lunch for a first time visit as we live a drive away, but have always fancied trying it. I would drive twice the distance it was that good! Beautiful place and interior, wonderful food throughout but the service was just spot on and made the visit. Highly recommended!

I booked the boars head for lunch for our daughters 21st family ‘get together’ My extended family had never been however, we have been several times. I have to say the entire experience from the moment we arrived was exceptional. There is little wonder that in times when people are pulling purse strings in, this place is still so busy. I booked the table on line, there is the option of ordering extras such as balloons, champagne etc. I ordered balloons. The table looked fabulous, the balloons were amazing and they had even left a little card on the table too which was a lovely touch. The service was the best customer service experience we have experienced in a long time, this was down to a young lady called Lucy. Her attention to detail, the care she took, her attentiveness, friendly and personable attitude was literally outstanding. Working in the hospitality industry is not easy, it is hard work and often understated but it is a very important profession and when it is done well it is rewarding for both the staff and the customer. We experienced a high standard from each and every member of the team and we cannot thank them enough. We recommend this pub wholeheartedly, you won’t be disappointed! Thankyou once again Lucy for your hard work.

The restaurant is beautifully presented and the food is great, with a good selection on the menu. I highly recommend the duck to start and the Thai kebab. They also have a good selection of cocktails and mocktails. The staff were very friendly and professional. A great find and will definitely be returning!

Called into day after visiting antiques centre for lunch friendly staff excellent food lovely surroundings throughly enjoyed it

It was a warm sunny day so we decided to call in here for a drink in the garden with the intention of dining afterwards. Having viewed the photos on their website showing an immaculately presented outdoor seating area, we were most shocked to discover the outdoor area disgracefully dirty; tables filthy with crusty bird faeces, dirty chairs, plastic table plants overflowing with stagnant rain water, rattan chairs obviously missing their seat cushions forcing guests to sit at an inappropriate height to the tables, loose cement creating not only a trip hazard but also a perfect nesting spot for an army of ants. Additionally one of the large rattan tables was out of order due to the glass top being broken, I suspect the management simply do not want to pay out for a repair. I inquired with a member of staff regarding the availablity of cushions but was fobbed off. Needless to say we didn't hang around for food and moved on to another cleaner venue.

We arrived sat outside whilst waiting for the rest of the family to join us, it has an amazing outdoor seating area, we were greeted outside and asked if we would like any drinks, really good outside service. Went into the restaurant for our meal, had a lovely sunday lunch, all the food was really good, followed by some lovely desserts, the only thing i would say the service wasn’t as good, slow drink service, we did have a bottle of water but only 1 bottle between 5 of us and no one came across to see if we needed any more drinks, that was the only let down, but overall really quite good.

Lovely pub,very busy, staff excellent, we were a party of sixteen, the waitress went round the tables and took our orders , my wife and I were first to order .All meals came out at the same time and we received our food first , Unfortunatley our meals were luke warm , they must make up the orders as given then put the first ones ready under a heater or something to keep them warm (which did not work) , whilst all other meals are ready.Disappointing as the meal was very tasty and plentiful.

We booked the tipi for a private 60th birthday party and from the set-up, the food, to the service everything was incredible. From booking the event 6 weeks ago, the events team were incredibly helpful, making sure when the food was coming out and when we’d arrive on site to do the set-up of the event. They remained in touch throughout the whole organisation. The staff we had within the tipi when there, Abbey and Lydia, were fabulous. They couldn’t do anything more and made sure all guests were accommodated for and had everything they needed. The place was spectacular and the management was amazing. Couldn’t recommend the place enough. The general management was great, and there was someone on site at 9am to ensure we could decorate. Can’t thank the venue and staff enough for a fabulous day they enabled. Also, the food was AMAZING!!!
