The Boardroom in Calderdale

Sorry I hate to leave negative reviews but this place is shocking Upon first glance, it looks so quirky. Food was absolutely abysmal despite costing £43 for a few out of date olives and stale breadsticks, mushy old cucumber, half a chocolate spread sandwich with stale crisps and some other very forgettable rubbish. The young man was a superb waiter and was the only saving grace of this place. If you’re going to offer food, please at least do more than serve out of date food and use a microwave… Would not return!

Was in todmorden and came across this unique cafe where you can play boardgames, which a few youngsters where. Place was very clean and good atmosphere just had a coffee and sandwich all served with a smile. It's under new management and I wish them well. Will deffo call in again next time we're in Toddy. Love the games concept. 👍 👍

Nice cafe with great selection of games in good working order. The problem was the bill – they charged me twice for a round of coffees when we ordered lunch later. Annoyingly, I didn't get a receipt first time. They were less than apologetic when I drew their attention to this, initially ignoring my query at the till, and when I did, they only refunded 10.50 of the £12.95 I had paid. I didn't want to kick up a fuss whilst having a rare family outing , so didn't quibble over the extra. But my advice is to CHECK YOUR BILL carefully and GET A RECEIPT each time!

We have been frequenting the Boardroom since it launched, and there's rarely a week goes by that we aren't there. The games concept is a wonderful idea, but it's also great for a coffee or light lunch/snack, and all ages are catered for. We are always made to feel welcome, and the friendly staff go out of their way to accommodate everyone's needs. A big thumbs up from us! Thanks to Lily and Matilda for looking after us today, keep up the good work!

We've frequented this cafe many times and never had a problem before. We were seated close to the kitchen area so had a good view of the layout. We ordered coffee and scones, the coffee was served at a satisfactory speed, however the member of staff then took another order' whilst we waited at least ten minutes for the scones, my husband had the remind the member of staff that we'd ordered scones. This oversight didn't perturb us to a great extent as one is aware these oversights do occur occasionally. However what did alarm us was when we saw the member of staff taking the scones from the container with her hands, I was disgusted by this and informed her I wasn't prepared to accept them and demanded a refund for the scones, which we did receive. We asked why she didn't use tongue's, she said she couldn't find them. Another member of staff then rummaged through a drawer and produced a pair from its very depths. It appears obvious to me that if staff adhere to this practice in front of the customer then it can only be left to ones imagination what their hygiene habits are in the kitchen. I did notice after the unfortunate incident the member of staff frequently used the hand sanitizer, which is full of chemicals and a poor substitute for soap and water.

Visited the broadroom on Monday the 27th with my family, good selection of games.. very friendly staff. Food was really good overall a brilliant cafe, will definitely be visiting again!

My husband and I went to have lunch here and we ordered a salmon and chicken salad. These were served in what looked like very small cereal bowls. I was told they had no Caesar dressing available. In the end the waitress scraped out a tiny portion from an old bottle. The atmosphere was awful because as we began to eat our food the waitress then decided to shout and play with a small child who was also in the restaurant. I thought I was eating in a nursery the racket this woman made shouting and squealing with the youngster. Our bill came to £17.35 for hardly anything to eat and two cups of tea. I will never go back. This used to be a nice place to eat and relax. Today it was horrible and the food we received was very overpriced for what we got served. I do like children but not when I have to enjoy their playtime with the servers. If you have salads on your menu surly you should have a good supply of dressings for your customers. This place has lost our custom.

Atmosphere is rather antiseptic due to the decor. The service was slow in both in taking an order and delivering it. Tea was served as an ordinary tea bag in a glass mug and a long wait for the food after that. Junior staff seemed to be taking breaks despite these delays.

Comfortable modern café. Slightly scatterbrained member of staff took my order, but that just added to the charm of the place.

Lovely service, everyone was inviting and friendly, and delicious drinks. Will definitely come again !

Stopped off for a morning snack while shopping in Tod. We were both really pleased with our paninis, which were extremely tasty. Good, attentive service as well. We would certainly recommend!

Went in one Sunday afternoon owner pregnant lady not very friendly very cold and other half picked this up too would not have hurt her to crack a smile for paying customers almost felt not welcome . Two teenage members of staff were lovley and friendly . Sandwich ordered very nice apart from stale crisps which would of mentioned but as said above owner seemed very unfriendly

My children(12 and 8) absolutely love it here, and we're a good 40 minute drive away., but they request to visit each school holiday. Spending time together playing board games and eating snacks, cakes and treats to share, chocolate, popcorn and crisps, is a real treat. Light and airy atmosphere, where you're not rushed, and where you want to stay just a little bit longer. Fantastic place where people can enjoy reading a book over a coffee, meet up with friends or have some family fun playing different board games that you may not have tried before. All safety measures in place for COVID, felt very safe and clean. Fantastic!

Visited for breakfast and this place is definitely the best looking cafe in the area with modern contemporary styling. The breakfast menu is very simple, some egg dishes would be good. Coffees were ok, had much better and the breakfast items we did have were budget shop bought type warmed up/toasted things which is fine but not going to win any awards.

Went with my daughter on a rainy day and played a few games and had some snack bowls. It was not a place I would normally go to, however we like it and the deco inside. Had a nice few hours.

Excellent. Lovely start to the day. Very friendly staff and owner and the cafe was spotlessly clean. They welcomed our well behaved dog and offered him treats. We had the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels (toasted)..... Delicious!! If you want a big fried full...

The service was very slow, they got our order wrong twice and I thought it was very expensive. Although the variety of games to play is good and this definitely makes a change.

Chanced upon this lovely cafe when I took my mum and my aunty out for a little trip. Wonderful coffee! Delicious scones and choc chip shortbread. Really friendly staff. The decor is so attractive - v bright and airy.

Great little coffee shop! Delicious bagels and the cakes are even better.. love the concept of having games to play. Reasonably priced too. The decor is bright and modern with a relaxed atmosphere. With a visit!!!
