Driving home from a day trip in my electric car (only had just enough charge to get home - didn't have enough charge for detours) and realised we had run out of water and all were thirsty & dehydrated. Stopped to get a drink - and see if we could fill up our water bottles - but sadly they were shut & the door was closed. Chap came out to where I was sitting in my car trying to work out what to do to check I was ok and gave me drinks for the kids. Above and beyond, thank you!

We took a friend for Sunday lunch, it was very disappointing asked if beef was pink told it was, my wife asked for pork and was there apple sauce and stuffing, told us it had, The beef was not pink and they had no apple sauce, also it said cauliflower and white sauce, they didn't have it so only carrots and cabbage. Years ago we used to go and up to about a year it was great, evenings and Sundays. We will not be going again

We'd only come up to Ripon area to walk around Simon' Seat and attend Park Run at Fountains Abbey, but we liked Ripon soo much we stayed an extra night and got a room at the Blue Bell. The room itself was really nice with a soft bed and good bathroom but as we are both around 6 feet tall, it perhaps should have been called the Duck Suite. Super critical, the tv was a little small and the curtains need to be thicker to keep out the early morning sun, but as I said, that is super critical. What was impressive was the young man who served us at dinner..confident but also relaxed and very friendly....a credit to the pub. As you can see from the photos, the food was well presented and tasty but if you are going to serve hot food, please don't serve it on cold plates and would have liked to have more variety of veg' with main course. The Blue Bell Inn is mentioned as bed & breakfast.....there was no breakfast offered to us.

Drove past this pub with pretty flowers outside, and decided to go there for dinner. Friendly staff, lots of customers, great food and beer. Had starters and main courses, good portions and good value. Only sorry we live 150 miles away, as it is everything you want from a village eatery !

We stumbled on this little gem of a place by accident, from walking in we were greeted by the lovely landlady who was very friendly. We weren’t expecting to stay over but the blue bell had a really nice homely feel. We were lucky enough to stay in the Oakley room it was amazing so clean, tea, coffee and hot chocolate also some lovely little snacks. The room was spotless, the bed was really comfortable and warm. Good quality bedding and quilt. We had evening meal all freshly home cooked food. I would highly recommend this lovely place.

We popped in on a Saturday afternoon for an early evening meal. Although the kitchen wasn’t open until 5, we were able to place our order before then and were given a seat in the restaurant after waiting with our drinks by the fire. Food was really nice, staff attentive and the overall atmosphere was pretty much everything you’d want from a Yorkshire country pub. Will definitely be re-visiting at some point and would recommend it to all.

What an absolute find. We were up in North Yorkshire for the weekend in Boroughbridge. Just down the road in the next village we spotted this Gastro pub, the menu looked amazing. We had a lovely bottle of chilled Chenin Blanc. The staff were so lovely & so friendly. Especially the very small gorgeous young man who served us he was amazing & so very helpful.. I started with the large wedge of Brie with chutney & a beautifully dressed fresh salad, my partner started with the black pudding crispy smoked bacon stack served with a dijon mustard & cream sauce. Mouthwatering good. Amazing. We both had the crispy Pork belly joint , served with a cider sauce & tender fine green beans, I had new potato's my partner had fat cut chips. WOW if you are in this area this pub has to be visited I would like to thank you all for giving us a really superb night.

Looking for somewhere to eat in the area and stopped at the Blue Bell. It had just opened for the day and was not very busy. We received a friendly welcome and sat near an open fire. Our order was taken at the table, and the food and service was very good. The atmosphere was a little "basic", probably due to the very limited number of customers, and overall we would rate our visit as "Good" rather than "Very Good" if that was possible.

En route back from Edinburgh and looking for somewhere for lunch we pulled off the A1 at Dishforth and took the road towards Boroughbridge. Came across this pub and were pleased that they were still serving. Nice warm interior with open fires which delighted my wife on a cold day. Disappointed that my choice of steak pie was not available ( really fancied that) so chose Masham Sausages which were disappointing - had texture and taste of cheap supermarket variety ( that's how they seemed to me) - the listed mustard mash accompaniment was plain mash. My wife had haddock & chips which was fine. We were hungry so it filled the gap but would not return from choice.

After living in Boroughbridge for 10 years I can't believe we hadn't been to The Blue Bell before today! Lovely friendly & welcoming pub with a decent range of beers & wines, a decent enough menu.... & fires. (ok, gas ones but who cares) Usual simple classics on the menu, I had black pudding & bacon starter, Mrs had tempura prawns, then I had haddock & chips, Mrs had haddock with leek & bacon sauce, mash & greens. All were spot on with ample amounts (they do 'small plates as well) & reasonably priced. We won't wait another 10 years before we go back!

The beer garden out the back is lovely. 100% top food and it's true what it says on the sign outside real ale and real food thanks again

It was our first ever visit to the Blue Bell so a bit of a gamble as there were 21 others on our coach after visiting the Races at Thirsk. I need not of worried, Ruth and her staff were absolutely fantastic, nothing was ever to much trouble and both the food and the timing for our courses was spot on. Couldn't recommend this place highly enough, see you next year !

Good selection of real ales where you can get a sample selection ( 3 × 1/3 of a pint real ale tasters for £3:20) All the food that comes out looks and tastes good as we've eaten here several times inc. Sunday lunch which is served till 5pm . Staff very accommodating as we saw a party of 6 come in near 6pm on a Sunday after, the kitchen had closed and the chef reopened it.All mains very reasonably priced and Sunday lunch £8:95.

Called for lunch with my wife and a couple of friends, Lovely food and very friendly staff who advised on the excellent local beer.Staying in Harrogate otherwise we would have gone there happily for dinner.Worth a 5 star but to be fair had to dock a part point for a disinfectant smell which I am sure was just unfortunate timing.

We were on our way home and stopped here for lunch. Exceptional. I had the crayfish linguine in a chilli sauce, what can I say other than it was scrummy with just the right amount of heat and big. Hubby had a burger the same scrummy and big. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. One disappointment they didn't have any Parmesan cheese?? Price for lunch a bit high but well worth the cost. The inn was clean and welcoming. A table cleared as we ate. It was redressed immediately.

The Blue Bell is less than a 5 minute drive from Boroughbridge centre, 1 mile away at Kirby Hill, possible walkable though not sure about the pavement situation.Recently refurbished with bright modern decor whils retaining the original character. We were almost tempted by the Wednesday Steak Night offer of 2 for £25 with a bottle of wine, but we opted for pork steak, buttery mash with mustard sauce & veg and homemade lasagne. Everything was excellent hubby expecially loved the buttery mash, the veg we shared were perfectly cooked. The lasagne was huge & very tasty at £7.95The apple & cinnamon crumble was a triumph too.Friendly staff who truly appear to enjoy their jobs.Good range of beers especially the Rudgate Blond. We thought all the prices for quality & size of portions were very reasonable.Highly recommmended

We visited the Blue Bell inn as a large family and although the meal was no memorable (there are more good pubs in he vicinity) it was not bad.The selection was adequate and the plates were presented well. The service was also adequate. All in all somewhat forgettable.

Visited The Blue Bell for the first time and very impressed. Good menu choice and not expensive. Plenty of toast with the delicious pate starter and thinking the lasagne may not be sufficient on its own I ordered a bowl of chips - not necessary, the lasagne was very good and chips weren't needed, however, they were scrummy, big, thick crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. How could I resist. Friends had for starters, breaded Brie, whitebait, goats cheese, and for mains - bangers and mash, Cajun chicken, seafood linguine . All served on hot plates - one of my pet hates is cold plates!! Too full for dessert but two managed the rhubarb cheesecake and the gooiest sticky toffee pudding - next time I'm going to save room for the banoffe pie. The staff were extremely friendly. A small blip when there was a mix up with the main course order and a friend had to wait a few minutes but a free drink was offered and problem sorted very quickly. Definitely worth another visit.

This is a recently refurbished pub. It sells good choice of beer. Service is good. The pub looks roomy inside and refurbishment has given it a good look inside, except for the wallpaper looking like fake library shelves! However, even though there on a Friday evening these was a lack of atmosphere.

My husband and I called here as it looked nice from outside and once thru the door it was obviously newly decorated with new owners. We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed a nice drink and lovely freshly cooked meal (fish and chips/ gammon and chips). Generous portions. The restaurant was busy as was the games room. The fires were on and it created a lovely cosy pub. Well done the new owners. Will definitely call again and recommend too

Visited on a sunny Saturday lunch. Food was excellent. Fresh crab soup and warm baked bread was brilliant. Fish pie superb and Baked Alaska to finish rounded it off so well. Sat in garden for coffee. So calm and welcoming. Location, food choice and service was very professional, personal and friendly.. Will definitely make a return visit even at 150 mile round trip from Sunderland. Superb all round

Best afternoon tea about! Mama Doreen’s never disappoints, the food is beautiful as is the fizz! The staff are friendly, attentive and extremely patient (when customers are being outright rude and difficult). Big shout out to Elliot who was amazing, thank you for making my mums birthday so special! Can’t wait to come back soon xxx

Great coffee & food at this lovely independent cafe, situated near to the stray and to town on Cold Bath Road. It’s so friendly and has a really welcoming atmosphere (even if, like me, you don’t cycle!) There are so many cafes to choose from in Harrogate, but this is my favourite - hands down!
