Super Easter Monday lunch. One of us had the sirloin steak and the other the roast lamb. Both were excellent and the service was really great. We'll be back!

First visit here and we’ll be back. Had siracha cauliflower wings to share which were cooked perfectly with a lovely thin tempura batter. I had the porchetta which was really delicious. Lovely crackling, and good portion too. Not sure if there was pork loin with it, which I think porchetta should have, am sure it was only pork belly, but it was delicious anyway. Other dish was hake, cooked perfectly, with a very hearty and yummy portion of tomatoey & chorizo pasta. Can’t wait to return and try more of the menu!

Just want to thank Amy, Erin and team for all their hard work to ensure my party ran smoothly last Saturday. From the start of planning to the night of the event, nothing was too much trouble and all my questions were answered promptly. We were able to set up from 5pm on the night of the party and no one rushed us out of the door at the other end . We had the dining room set up for dancing and used the nearest bar. It was the perfect size for a party of 65. As the evening went on and the other side of the pub was quieter we were able to spill out. I choose to have the cold buffet option and everyone commented on how good the food was. They also cut up the cake (@sugarand slices) for me and gave out to guests. I have had so many messages from my guests complimenting the venue.! Thank you again😁

We are a family of 5 having a dinner on a Friday night. Between us we had most of the menu, and we have no complaints, it was all just lovely and totally scrumptious. Mussels with cider and nduja, monkfish in a lobster bisque with purple potatoes, fish and chips, venison and a Korean chicken burger. The service was excellent and very friendly, and the overall ambience was relaxed and customer-centric. We have already booked a table for Mother’s Day!

Excellent Fish and Chips - three of us had haddock and chips, we all agreed this was the best we had had for a long time. The halloumi was also good. The service was friendly but not over intrusive. So all in all a very pleasant lunch. We will be returning.

Sadly very disappointed. Came here for a family meal, my husband, my son, daughter in law and baby grandson. We had pre-booked which was good as it does get very busy. Loved the fact that my Grandson was given his own plate, and cutlery and toys were provided by the pub as well. Sadly my sons burger was very very dry and had no flavour, my poussin was literally two mouthfuls of meat. Asked for extra gravy for the table and it came out in a tiny jug, hardly enough for 1 person. My husband ordered a pudding....he had only just started his pudding when they bought the bill over and asked how we were paying.....this in my eyes is extremely rude and made us feel very rushed. In total we were there less than an hour. Will not return again which is a shame as its a good half way meet up point for the family.

Another lovely evening meal at the Blue Anchor, which fortunately for us is just a short walk away. We are working our way through the very mouthwatering menu and this time my Monkfish was great and came with a really gorgeous sauce. Two of us had the chicken pie which they said contained a lot of chicken, so no skimping there. Amy and her crew are very friendly and accommodating, and we’ll be back soon to sample some of the other menu offerings. Pat & Brian

We stopped for lunch at the Blue Anchor as we were making use of the EV charging points. The service was friendly and efficient and the restaurant was pleasant and spacious. We chose from the light lunch menu which had some interesting and different menu options. The venison scotch egg on a celeriac salad was nicely presented and flavoursome. The nduja mussels were plentiful and delicious, the nicest mussels I’ve had for a long time. The accompanying French fries were also perfect. An impromptu visit which delivered food of a standard higher than expected from a pub restaurant and all for a reasonable price. No doubt we’ll be back next time we need a recharge!

The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, it's a beautiful well maintained pub & restaurant. The food was AMAZING! We only had mains as the portions were perfect and pud would have been pure piggery for a lunchtime. The vegetables were fresh, inviting and perfectly cooked I decided on ordering the Lobster Bisque Fish Pie, the description made me drool, and when it was set in front of me, the luscious smell made me know I chose well. I had never had anything like it to compare, very unique and cooked perfectly. My husband had the Pie of the day, Moroccan Lamb. He was equally delighted with his selection. It's always nice to try a new place and discover a chef with a passion for serving up tasty innovative dishes. Great service added to our pleasant lunch date, and we were presented with 2 options for seating upon entry. A welcoming fire or a bit of a nook, either would have been perfect. What wasn't to love at the Blue Anchor? Good value for superb food. Nothing too fancy, but a mile above standard pub fare. We will be back!

Popped in here for the first time in years with no booking for a family lunch. We were warmly received and although the place was very busy a table was available. Lucky us. The menu is very interesting and diverse but with the normal favourites also available, we had a mixed bag from monk fish, lobster pie and lie of the day and they were absolutely superb…dessert was great too. My guess is it’s prepared on site by some very good chefs Service through was excellent…..Will certainly recommend and be back Well done all

The Blue Anchor Crowborough, what can I say. We have been coming to this pub for a long time. We had our wedding lunch here 5 years ago and each time we come it gets better. This afternoon there is a large birthday party on in the restaurant and on the patio, but the staff even though they are rushed off their feet have been amazing apologising for the wait for drinks and food which hasn't been long compared to other places I have been. We went to our first quiz "Leap Year Quiz" last night, group of 6, and had a great night. Wasn't sure what to expect, but it was really well organised and had a buzzing atmosphere. A real mix of rounds which made it fun. Everyone seemed to be having a ball and interacting well! We didn't have any food, but it looked so good that we have booked to return for a meal next week! A lot of effort went into the quiz, we especially loved the tasting round! I booked a pub lunch for 2 families with a range of ages but I didn't expect it to be so family focussed. There were board games and toys along with a kids menu. They were very accommodating and attentive. Whoever did the decor did a fantastic job and the attention to detail was evident. Even the loos were very clean and well thought out. 10/10 My only feedback would be perhaps to make the kids menu plainer; as in a simple bun and the burger not burnt anywhere. I know.. but kids can be fussy!! All in all - We will definitely visit again. And if you are a young family visiting from outside of the area, the playground at Crowborough Leisure Centre is well worth a visit and only 4 mins away!

For our mains we both went for 'light bite' BBQ Octopus Tacos which had fennel slaw, avocado and skinny fries on the side. We love Octopus and are picky over how it's cooked, this was brilliantly cooked, tender but with a strong BBQ flavour. Impressed that our server was aware of the Garlic allergy we had noted when booking. Ordered two steaks which again arrived in good time and hot. The food is nicely presented on the plates and looked very appetising. The whole evening was only let down by both steaks being very sinewy, resulting in not only a lot of chewing, but an amount being inedible. We would had puddings and coffee but couldn’t wait another half hour. Overall we were there for over 2 1/2 hours and only had two courses. We had a family celebration at the Blue Anchor, the Sunday roasts were first class, the atmosphere was so relaxed that even our grandson and his cousin were accommodated with books and toys. Service was great and nothing was too much trouble.

Four of us went out for lunch and decided to try the Blue Anchor. Two had the home-made pie which were massive with plenty of filling, and two had the fish and chips which again were really good portions; the batter was beautiful and crispy and was certainly filling. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and we would definitely recommend it to others.

Excellent roast yesterday. It took a while to get to the table, but when it did, it was worth the wait. I don't say this lightly. One of the best roasts I've ever had.

After a stressful few days of dealing with funeral arrangements, meeting Amy the landlady to book a funeral reception was a breeze. No problem with numbers whether 10 or 50 turned up, no need for a deposit and happy to provide the full menu for mourners to order on the day. We had the whole restaurant area to ourselves for 30 people and the food was superb. Thank you to the whole team for making a difficult time so much easier.

We took our youngest son there this evening and we had a great experience. They were extremely busy as had a Halloween theme night and a live band. However, they still welcomed us and were able to find us a table to eat. The food was scrumptious and the staff were on point. Highly recommend, even if you don’t book and they are packed I’m sure they would fit you in! Well earned 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

When last in England, and driving to London through Crowborough, we passed on our left a modest building modestly proclaiming itself to be a Country Pub with Dining. Turning round and going in, we soon realized our mistake in passing it . The modesty of its self proclaimed status belies the remarkable achievement of its owners and staff - this is a great welcoming genuine unpretentious pub with all the character of a country inn, with great dining in a large separate area with lovely decor. The food is as good as you will find anywhere , with a wide ranging menu and ample portions ( unlike so many other places ). Squid, terrine, risotto , dressed crab , salted caramel torte and ice cream we had were fantastic. The service is excellent - charming , welcoming, attentive without being intrusive and professional to a level far beyond the youth of the staff. People and their children are happy here . Outside there is a large area with tables and a large car park. A great deal of thought has obviously gone into creating such a great welcoming place.

We've been visiting the Blue Anchor for years. It's veered between the sublime and the truly dreadful, so it dropped off our radar. However, we went back for a Sunday roast last weekend..... and it was splendid.

We have been to the Blue Anchor over several years and several owners - usually only once for each owner, which tells its own story. At last it looks as though it's in good hands. We had a very helpful and cheery welcome as 'walk ins' for dinner and were introduced to the Shepherd Neame lager whilst contemplating the menu. We both had fish - Dover sole and a beer battered cod - both very good. The dessert options were also very good. So, at last we'll be making at least one return visit!

The Blue Anchor is a very nice Shepherd Neame pub with lots of dining space and a nice garden. I booked a table at short notice for a surprise birthday drinks and snacks. The staff at Blue Anchor were very helpful, they sent over a menu in advance so I could pre-order and brought the food when requested. We ordered lots of light bites including chips, lamb tacos and charcuterie board, everything was generous portions and really tasty.

We love this pub, the team are always friendly & welcoming. The food is excellent, I would highly recommend a Sunday Roast which comes with lots of vegetables, excellent gravy & very generous portions. The pub is warm & welcoming with a lovely large garden at the back which is gorgeous in the summer time.

Unfortunately, this dinner was a disappointment from start to finish. I would strongly recommend that the restaurant implement a staff training day, as the service was shocking, especially given the price point. For £17.95, I was served an elderflower fizz that was reminiscent of a Wetherspoons cocktail—no garnish, too much sugar syrup, served in a gin bowl with excessive ice and just a straw and stirrer. It took ages to arrive after we had to order at the bar, due to a lack of staff taking orders at the table. The barman who appeared to be working solo was clearly flustered and evidently required either help or supervision, as the drink quality, presentation, and wait time was just not good enough for the price. This was just the start of a series of disappointments. My partner and I were then shown to our table, which was in an empty second room. Whilst this may seem romantic, we found it rather strange, especially considering the other room was nearly full. It seemed like the seating should have been split more evenly. We were greeted by another waitress who seemed pleasant but was unfortunately uninterested and lacked knowledge of the dishes. When we asked for recommendations, she responded with, "I don’t know. It depends on your palate." Typically, I would have expected more enthusiasm and knowledge about the menu, but this was not the case. After selecting our dishes and a bottle of red wine, we waited. The food arrived fairly quickly, but the wine was nowhere to be seen. It’s standard for drinks to be served before the food, so this felt odd. When our starter was cleared, we reminded the waitress about the wine. She looked at us blankly before bringing over the wine list and asking which bottle we had ordered, as she had forgotten. When our main courses arrived, the wine still hadn’t come. Despite having pointed out the Cabernet Sauvignon twice, we were then informed it was out of stock and asked to choose another. I would have expected the waitress to know about the shortage, but we accepted the mistake and asked for two glasses of Pinot Noir, as we were already onto the main course. Having worked in hospitality myself, it is common knowledge that if an issue arises it must be rectified with a matter of urgency. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case here. It wasn’t until we had finished our main courses that the wine finally arrived—without an apology or explanation. Throughout the meal, we were also not checked up on - another standard practice of hospitality, which made it even more difficult to address the issue of the wine. When the bill came, I asked the manager to remove the wine charges. Whilst he agreed, I would have expected him to be aware of the situation and offer compensation without me having to request it. As for the food, it was fine but nothing memorable. I had the linguine, and my partner had the lamb. Both were enjoyable enough, but given the £30-40 price point for the main courses, the overall experience didn’t meet expectations. We didn’t bother staying for dessert due to our frustration with the service. What was meant to be a special, romantic meal ended up being a major letdown and waste of money.
