Just popped in for a quick Sunday lunch, it was lovely

Visited for lunch on a Thursday while visiting daughter at local university. Excellent hot sandwiches for lunch with chips and coleslaw. All four of us were delighted with our choices and had no room for desserts which did look very tempting when we saw them being delivered to other customers.

That crackling with the Pork Sunday lunch is beautiful 😍

Good value food, great quality, well cooked and presented. Excellent selection of beers served at a good cool temperature. Friendly and efficient service.

Beer busy. Even so the staff were pleasant and accommodating. I liked the meal and them.

Lovely food, well presented and tasty, I had a lovely curry. Was very pleased to see whitebait as a starter, it's not often I see it. Service was great, we were greeted as soon as we came through the door and drinks sorted for us straight away. Would definitely go back

My husband and I ate here while staying overnight in York, it's a quaint little pub. The menu isn't as extensive as other pubs we've been to. I had the hot roast sandwich not knowing what the meat inside would be, turned out to be beef on a large roll with chips and a really large pot of coleslaw. My husband had the chicken parmo which he thought would be like a chicken parmigiana with tomato sauce & cheese but this came with bechamel sauce & Parma ham on the top. He's quite a picky eater so had to scrape the sauce off and eat the chicken/chips. Overall not a bad meal and nothing wrong with the quality of food but the menu could be a bit more descriptive of what you're getting.

Yet again a lovely meal, been here on many occasions and always lovely , great food friendly staff n great background music . Brought back many happy memories. My son had the fish , enormous,and really fresh, I had gammon, also lovely cudnt manage it all great value as always, I would highly recommend it, also for small functions. Thanks for a great afternoon.

Welcoming and friendly pub, good menu of pub classic and few street food dishes. Great portion size and tasty food. Good range of local cask ale as well as the usual draught. Friendly staff!

Just a quick stop for a cheeky one while walking dogs 😁. Very good service and a roast beef treat for the dogs from chef!

Just visited this evening for a family meal, it was just fab from start to finish! Delicious food, great portion sizes and the pie of the day and raspberry pavlova were to die for. Just a quick advice check your bill because I didn't check and today I saw the bill and realiser we drink 2 moretti and they put on bill 3 and half.... Not nice at all a place not to repeat. And you can call me silly but if you put 2 drinks extra in every bill wow.... And after call people silly

Really nice service. The food menu is short, but what's offered is cooked well. Nice for casual alfresco dining. Try Yorkshire tapas :).

Staff friendly and attentive, decent menu choice, haddock goujons, hot chicken baguette with gravy and rump steak wrap were our choices and would recommend. Food arrived promptly and was piping hot. Good atmosphere in a traditional pub with plenty parking at the rear and just outside of York.

Been before once or twice and never been let down. The food is excellent service is excellent and the pub is very clean. Looked outside too to see a beautiful large beer garden out the back and front. We had a Sunday roast and it’s definitely the best in the area and that would be a big area

We stopped for a drink here last Saturday, and it was busy with St Leonard's charity function, live music playing outside,and BBQ for those that had paid for a ticket,great atmosphere here too,although we didn't eat,still enjoyed our drinks.

Quite nice pub, well decorated. Atmosphere was a mix of people enjoying the live music going on, but that encroached into the restaurant area.

We stopped here for lunch today. A nice place to visit for a relaxed afternoon meal. They have a full menu - and it was hard to choose what to eat. Everyone was pleased with their choices. The food arrived after only waiting for a short while. Both members of staff were really friendly and made sure we had enough drinks and were happy with our food. I had the chicken burger , which was delicious.

Only used the outdoor area as we had the dogs, but well appointed beer garden and reasonably priced.

Lovely friendly atmosphere. Clean and fresh. Staff where very friendly helpful and attentive. Food was so much better than expected for pub grub. Infact you couldn’t call it that sue to the quality and portion sizes. Will defiantly return. Dog friendly and nice beer garden.

I enjoyed a really pleasant meal with my friend with excellent, friendly service in clean surroundings. The garden is lovely too.

food quite poor lower quality than your average pub grub

Super pub in Wigginton. We went for a meal and were greeted and shown to our table straight away. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food was served in good time and was top quality. We had Beer/ Cider and that was also well kept. Cannot fault the place ,it was spotlessly clean and offers good value for money! Try the Pie of the day!

Absolutely fantastic place. First time we've been there. We were with friends on Sunday lunch time. We booked a table in advance and we're pleased we did. It was very busy and I'm not surprised. The food was absolutely fantastic. Everything really hot and we'll presented. The staff are really brilliant, very organised and cheerful. We will definitely be visiting you again soon!

Went with the family for Sunday dinner and the Black horse Inn did not disappoint! Ample portions For the Sunday roasts along with great flavours, vegetables were cooking nicely. Prices are reasonable and the staff did a good job even though it was busy at the time.

Called in late afternoon for a meal with friends. We had dogs with us and they were welcome inside and outside. Our meals were very good quality pub food and service was excellent. It was very busy and the bar manager/owner looked a bit stressed at times but was always pleasant to the customers. If you are in the area this pub is well worth a visit.

Took advantage of a sunny Sunday afternoon to pop in for a cool drink with my son. Friendly welcome on arrival and some delicious roasties on the bar too! There are seating options both to the front & back gardens, we choose a seat in the pagoda area out the back. Nice relaxed atmosphere, would recommend.

Very popular with the locals. Very family and dog friendly! Food not overpriced, but quality not spectacular and portion sizes are not for those with larger appetites! Service a little slow. Seems the waitress could only carry one item at a time!

This place just keeps getting better, the food was fabulous. The atmosphere and staff friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We even went back in the evening for the disco which again was great fun and lively. Cant rate this place highly enough for good food, James does an amazing job... definitley worth a visit if you are in the area!

We both visited on a cold miserable March day and we’re instantly welcomed by warm Yorkshire hospitality, good beer and brilliant chips and onion rings which we were permitted to eat at a quiet bar away from a busy restaurant. Overall a brilliant experience and we honestly can not wait to return.

Visiting friends and decided to pop in at the blackhorse for sunday lunch AMAZING the beef was pink lovely thick gravy and the roast potatoes OMG Lovely green vegetables & leek bake was a lovely alternative to the normal cauliflower cheese you get in other venues Didnt have dessert but what I saw in other tables they too looked great you get so much for your money here The pub has lovely little snug areas and alcoves great beer garden caters for everyone the staff super friendly and go the extra mile will be back one word describes this jewel in the crown simply FAAAAAAABULOUS

This pub does NOT have any equipment in the garden for kids to play on as other photos show We came as we were in the area for a family holiday and looked this pub up and drove here specifically but disappointed when we arrived. Didn't stay for a drink as not very child friendly to be honest.

Need more efficient and attentive bar staff. There bartender by the name of Michael was unresponsive bordering on inefficient. Listening skills were poor as was his attention when serving. Seemed completely disinterested doing his job.

Lovely pub good food friendly staff. Well kept ales. They didn't bat an eyelid even when my husband bled all over a table. Insisted in cleaning it up themselves even though I asked for the equipment to do it so thank you and will deffo be back.

Visited this pub for a quite evening drink disappointed very noisy group of people in can accept that but in a small pub staff could have asked them to keep the noise down but the staff where not really interested in their customers when serving more wanting to talk to friends. Thought vaping wasn't allowed in pub especially sat at the bar.

Average Sunday lunch, a bit disappointed today unfortunately. Had a couple of Sunday lunches previously and they were really good but today was average. Had to wait an hour for it, this time potatoes and meat served in a Yorkshire pudding, mash only warm not hot and Yorkshire was limp and rubbery, stuffing balls rock hard, veg not as good as usual either. Felt a bit disorganised. Personal preference but I prefer a nice crispy fresh Yorkshire on the side as you used to do, sorry.

Visited this delightful pub on a number of times and everytime leaves me wanting to come back again. The food is very reasonably priced for top notch quality. The staff are fantastic and make you feel like they have know you for years. Would definitely recommend if your just popping in for a quick drink or wanting a nice family meal. La cuisine venait de fermer et le chef était parti. Cependant, la patronne a accepté immédiatement de préparer des fish 'n chips pour tout le monde. Absolutely superb food, great service as well, highly recommended. I had the burger of the day and my wife had a vegan dog, she says it was the best vegan dish she’s ever eaten. The burger of the day was fabulous.

Really poor customer service from the barman on shift with the tattoo sleeve and diamond stud. Lacked social skills and during service he didn’t seem to have much knowledge in how to do his job. Very poor show all round.
