Keystones in York

We booked online for a bottomless brunch. We got there early the table was set with crackers and hats to wear..we travelled from Newcastle for the Christmas market but it was cancelled with the storms..we were soaked through by the time we reached the pub. The pub was welcoming cozy and warm! Our server was Taylor and we can't praise her enough. The drinks were brought out quicker than we could drink them which from previous bottomless brunch at a different chain pub the service of the drinks was so slow, not here ! The cocktails were lovely my favourite was the green sleigh cocktail (recommend this if you like after eights) Taylor came every few minutes to check drinks and that we were all Okey. My only thing was the Nachos didn't have alot of cheese sauce etc but everything else was absolutely beautiful. We are rebooking next year for hopefully the Christmas market and another bottomless brunch. Fully recommend this pub if your in York !! Amazing !!

Keystones is the #1 pub in York, we’ve been going for 6+ years and love it every time! We often celebrate birthdays & occasions with their bottomless brunch. We did a festive bottomless brunch this Saturday and loved it. The service from Tayla was amazing, constantly asking us if we were ready for another drink - not something you usually get at other pubs/bars. Great value for money as well, can’t recommend enough!

Called in for a pint and had a decent selection of ales.

The keystones is a traditional pub next to monk bar that serves food. It has a good range of beers, lager and cider, including several hand pulled cask conditioned real ales that were in excellent condition when we visited. They do a great deal on a Thursday £3.50 a pint. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and there are TVs showing Sky Sports in the pub and in the garden. There is a pool table and a large beer garden with great views of the city walls and the ice house. The pub has a lovely modern but rustic feel to it, nice music a great pub. Highly recommended.

Been coming here for years when visiting York. Great to sit outside in the summer. Only drawback is the limited range of beers.

Firstly, the food wasn't great. I ordered the chicken and fries and gotta say the portion of chicken was very very less. Secondly, the server (a lady)( the lad was great) was kind of rude - didn't help with the menu. I believe at least they could treat customers with a smile and not with an attitude. The mens washroom was out of order, the TV screens were continuously fluttering (the outside ones).

Do recommend this nice pub in york, it has many screens for different sports where the nice and friendly staff don't hesitate to put on for you, seems to be a good atmosphere among regulars, tourists and the staff alike. It's got a good big beer garden to the side also. Didn't have any food however as I went for a succulent Chinese meal instead! Will be back one day!!

Came for a bottomless brunch and was not disappointed, the management and staff we're fantastic and plenty of drinks to choose from. The food was excellent and was fresh and delicious... i would highly recommend this place for a brunch

We had a great bottomless brunch here today. A table right Infront of a huge screen to watch the football. A wide range of beers available on the brunch menu and the food menu was also great. I had the rebel burger and it was great. The bottomless brunch was great value and the staff were attentive and certainly were not shy when we had finished our drinks. I would highly rec this to groups of men who want to watch the footy and drink. It's a great value way of having lunch and beers at a great price

Pizza was nice and you wanted a salad but it wasn't on the menu but Sandra made you one Ellis and oliver great service on the bar

Fab place, booked for after work drinks and it was welcoming and great service. Regularly attend and it’s always amazing service by all staff whether it’s food, bar or collecting glasses.

Came to their pub quiz and it was amazing, great energy, atmosphere and prizes! Had some food while we were there, the pizzas are top end! I'm going to be back to try out even more and hopefully win some prizes for the next quiz, definitely recommend for anyone looking for a midweek activity

I visited with a friend on Sunday for drinks, I've been a few times before. Very friendly attentive staff. Oli was very helpful. Great atmosphere. Lovely garden to sit in with dogs as they are very welcome by the staff.

Been here a couple of times, stayed all night. Such a chilled place and lovely staff. Met a friend for food and drinks a couple of days later and was even better. The fish and chips and burgers were our favourite. Thanks again for making us 60 year old women feel so comfortable and welcome. Well done Keystones for a lovely team.

A return visit and it was certainly worth it. Really good food and atmosphere. Very busy as per previous visit but really well looked after by the staff. Nothing too much trouble and lovely to see Oliver was still working there from last time. As then he made us very welcome. We will be back

always the biggest fan of keystones🙂‍↕️ the staff are lovely, its affordable, and the location is stunning. definitely a frequent for me and my friends, and student drinks deals are phenomenalll for the budget girlies. food is well priced too, and there are plenty of veggie options, which i love. the quiz also always has the best vibes!! (shoutout to my fav quiz master eleisha). 10/10 recommend.

Lovley place, sadly football takes president as the rugby was turned off despite the large crowd I'm watching it. Clientèle soon left as a result and the incoming football crowd were less pleasant to be around so we left.

Sub par food (Old oil/hard food) Could’ve been a great place Good guinness

I would rate one star if I could. The lotsa pepperoni pizza had 5 pepperonis on it, was soggy and uncooked in the middle and burnt on the crust. Tastes like ketchup sauce. Corn on the cob served burnt, yet somehow literally frozen. Salad had rotten peppers. Burger came with no BBQ although menu claims it does, and the patties are clearly cheap frozen ones and they were cold in the middle. This is all on top of having to download an app, give all your personal info, and create an account with your credit card. HATE THAT. Overall, it was a pretty atrocious experience.

Its a genuinely good beer garden - despite the pub being on a main road, the garden is at the back and peaceful and is right under the city walls. So if you want to come for the beer garden on a nice day - fine. I'd otherwise treat the reviews on here with caution. A lot of them seem to have had the bottomless brunch or didn't eat at all. I can't comment on the bottomless brunch, but my experience of the food is that it is very average. Also, the indoor of the pub isn't particularly attractive if its not a nice day. There's much nicer pubs in York.

I traveled solo for 3 weeks in Great Britain. Thinking it would be fun to eat dinner at an authentic pub while in York, I looked at TripAdvisor and found Keystones listed as a Traveler’s Choice. Maybe I visited on an off night but my meal at Keystones was the worst meal of my entire 3 week trip. At 7pm on a Friday, they had already run out of a LOT of food so the very friendly and helpful bartender recommended the Burrito Bowl with chicken breast. Big mistake. The chicken was dry and overcooked and so was the tortilla. The plain white rice wasn’t warm. At least their Garlic Cheese Bread was good and their staff was great so it wasn’t a total loss. It was crowded with drinkers not eating so that must be the draw of this place. And it did look like a fun place to watch sports but I wouldn’t eat there again.

The keystones is definitely the place to come to in York for a bottomless brunch. My boyfriend and I came for a botty b the price is fantastic as well as the food and drinks. Everything was delicious and the service by Taylor and the rest of the staff was fantastic! Thank you very much for everything and Velma the dog was a lovely guest as well!

Consistently the best venue in York for watching sport! Me and a large group went for the first England game of the Euros and we’ve been back for every game since! Extremely accommodating staff every time, and great value on drinks…love this place!

First time visit here and the beers we had were great. Pizza and burger were good. Posh fish finger sub was not so good...fish good, not so the toasted brioche roll and the tartar sauce was overwhelming Still gets a high rating The outside area below the city walls and next to the Ice House was good

Bottomless brunch is well work the price..Staff here can't help you enough, don't have to go looking for someone to order next drinks..(Megan was particularly attentive during this visit. I have been to this pub a few times now, for brunch or just drinks, and can't find fault with anything..

Our first experience of a York pub and it was great. Went to watch the football, Sainsbury's v West Brom. The service and the staff was first class. We did not try the food as we had previously dined, but the menu was extremely tempting and reasonable.

Came to watch the last PL games. Atmosphere were brilliant, even when the place was packed the staff were still smiley and helpful. Would highly recommend, cheapest and happiest place in york! Great place.

Went in for a cider with my mates the manger has very poor customer service and was refusing to serve us for no valid reason. I understand why at the first instance I was not severed as I forgot my id however I went back home brought it to show and he again refused to serve me for apparent bad attitude when all I was asking was a genuine question. Anyone who knows me knows I’m far from having a bad attitude! When coming back with my id and he saw me and my friend he rolled his eyes and shook his head at me it’s not very nice. Hence the feeling of feeling disrespected. Absolutely disgusting. Honestly felt racially profiled I am devastated. In this day and age? Really? Is it really that hard to smile and do your job of serve a drink? Went back in today after this incident purely due to meeting friends and convenience and as I felt over the situation. Was told I couldn’t be served unless I apologised to the manager who was being rude to me previously. I said yes that’s fine I’ll apologise purely to avoid another situation. A different manager came to speak to me and her attitude and demeanour from the beginning was already rude. She said I had to delete my previous review and why come back if I left a one star review. She had an issue with the fact I used race in my review however I’ve read previous reviews and other people have said the same thing. She was shouting at me in the middle of the bar, very unprofessional, and felt very attacking. I still decided to apologise to avoid my friends from having to leave. She then refused to take my apology. So just a heads up don’t leave a one star review and don’t speak about your bad experience unless you want to be shouted at spoken rudely to when you are just trying to get a drink after a hard day. I have never had an issue like this in any other pub or bar and initially felt like I shouldn’t post this experience to prevent them from further targeting me. However I am leaving York very soon and feel like this should be said. i am not trying to be disrespectful purely expressing my feelings as I felt like I couldn’t speak to the manager properly due to her predisposition of the situation.

Cool place, tasty food and good beer.

Completely appalled with the service received. We went out for a drink, the manager was rude to my friends if I’m honest it appeared to be a race thing as he was lovely to everyone else. This man then refused to serve me afterwards giving me a horrible attitude so we had to leave.

Great pub atmosphere for bottles brunch, some places are packed out and over comerialised, we've visited on numerous occasions and it's a great vibe and traditional the staff are always really friendly, the selection is not restricted like other places and the food is good too, I recommend this place too all my Friends, thanks again for amazing service

Best bottomless brunch!! Went here Saturday for bottomless brunch for my birthday with 9 others and have to say it was amazing! Drinks were served fast, food was lovely!! Would highly recommend the pizza and chicken wings to share! Our service was great and the woman in charge of it was awesome! (Forget her name unfortunately) all the staff was lovely and friend and the table was set up was great! Would highly recommend to go! Thank you for making it so good! Will be booking in again!

Stopped in here for a couple of pints after a gym session. Staff are friendly and service I quick. We went around 6pm on a Wednesday and managed to get a table though it did get a reserved table tent in it for a booking a couple of hours later so we'd have had to move if we wanted to stay. It's popular with the student crowd so if the sound of that puts you off go in the summer or the usual term holiday times (Christmas and Easter).

We did Bottomless Brunch for my partner's birthday on 09/03 and it was just an outstanding experience. The table was decorated (such a lovely touch) the staff were an absolute pleasure and the food was scrummy. The menu choices were fantastic and everyone commented how lovely the staff and service were. We will definitely be back - best B.Brunch we have done. Massive thank you!

I called here on New Year's Day because I had to get out of Bradford. But I couldn't find a reasonable place to eat until I came to here. Sadly my Pizza was less exciting than its description on the menu, so I was disappointed. To be fair, this pub is more of a drinkers pub with Sports TV and pub games, so meals are not a priority. I think they made a good effort, but I will look elsewhere, when more places are open, than eat here again.

What an amazing little gem. Went for bottomless brunch last year with 3 of my friends and Taylor was by far the best waitress we have experienced whilst having a bottomless brunch. Attentive, swift and extremely friendly. We will certainly be back.

Nice pub good range of beers lager and IPAs

l would not step foot in this place ever again the staff were rude and unwelcoming only serving there friends and making people wait longer tables were reserved but empty kept for locals too the cocktails were shocking and when complained the manager was rude and didn’t care food was luke warm l will not be returning here ever again and the staff need to learn some manner shocking experience

Absolute joke, me and my partner nipped in for a pint on our way back to our apartment, the place was busy and everyone was friendly ( so I thought ) two young girls were sitting at a table for eight so we asked if we could sit down? They told us that they were reserved for friends, so politely I asked if we could sit until there friends arrived then we would move, we were told very arrogantly no, I told the young girls that they we're being unreasonable so they went to the bar and complained, I was then asked to finish my pint and leave, as I tried to ask for a rational explanation for this the bar maid took my pint from me and asked to leave straight away and was lead to the door with a friendly shove in the back for good measure, What a horrible experience at the end of a brilliant day, Come to York, enjoy our historic atmosphere, just don't ask to sit down,

Popped in here a few times whilst we were in York this weekend. Staff were very friendly and the pub had a lovely vibe and had karaoke on on the Friday evening good fun! Did enjoy and highly recommend 😁

Huge beer garden with heat lamps and cover. Well stocked cheap bar, pool table. Generally a good atmosphere outside. Take your waders for the bogs though.
