A beautiful old pub. Each of the imaginative burgers on offer can be adapted to vegetarian or vegan version. Dog friendly with lovely walks close by.

Had a great time but plates 20of us were not clean to eat off .Around half of them.

Beef Christmas roast dinner was lovely and cooked properly and lagars are nice too and staff was nice too well cooked and it was soo filling Paul ward and Kim and garry whiting had dinner and then went back with Paul ward and his shaun and myself celebrated the passing of Paul wife kim .

Dined at ‘The Black Horse’ pub Monday night; booking a table for nine was easily do-able a week beforehand though I definitely recommend booking, it is a busy little hub. There is no onsite parking, you have to find space on the street, we’d booked for 6pm and were 3 cars, we found parking fine but might have been difficult later in the evening. The two men in our group were immediately happy with the festive ales on tap, I was impressed with the decor and look of the pub. The menu covered everyone, we didn’t do the festive menu just the regular one. In general everyone seemed happy with food but it’s me writing the review and I wasn’t thrilled with my meal; the coleslaw was spot on and elements of the Lest-ah burger were fine only the burger patty itself crumbled up and made it difficult to eat as a whole. Also the chips were sus, they were stuck together en mass, you couldn’t just pick one up, it was a big clump on your fork, I didn’t like them, I gave some away and left the rest. Hugely lacking in atmosphere in my humble opinion, no music just the ever-growing volume of chatter, constant babble in the background. And the service was efficient but no character, we were obviously there for a family festive meal but there were no elements of warmth or cheer, serious faces and no smiles apart from the one chap who came to clear our plates, he had personality enough to cover all the employees. Shame though, a smile costs nothing, eye contact or acknowledgment, a connection makes all the difference when visiting somewhere for the first time.

Great pub with excellent staff and good home cooked food. Something apart from Amber Ale on the hand pulls would have been perfect. But without doubt a pub I would return to.

En el registro pregunté sobre un pub local para la cena, y el maravilloso personal recomendó The Black Horse. Partimos en el 0. 7 millas a pie, que apenas tomó tiempo en absoluto. Paseo seguro por la carretera principal hasta llegar a Narrow Lane. Lo que parecía un pub local, a su llegada, era solo eso. Suelos de madera y lo que parecía que estaba rebajado en la historia y había visto algunas noches fantásticas. Nos sentimos bienvenidos, tomamos una copa y nos sentamos donde queríamos para la cena. Estaba decidido a comer una hamburguesa. Un gran problema... ¿cuál de ellos? Maravillosa gama de comida de pub y opciones de hamburguesas inmensamente atractivas. Se ordenó un intercambio de bromas alegres con el amable personal del bar y mi hamburguesa cubierta de chile con carne. . Una pinta decente de la Tiger Ale (£ 4. 50) fue disfrutado (tal vez tuve 2 ) No había ales de colores más claros, pero es la temporada más oscura. Las hamburguesas eran fantásticas y un colega tiene scampi que era una porción realmente decente. En general, un pub local amable con comida decente y una pinta agradable. Me alegro de no vivir al lado, ya que puedo imaginar que estaría diciendo “Solo apagando los contenedores por amor” y buceando por una pinta.

Our first time visiting here last night. The staff were all very friendly, cheerful and polite. The food was very tasty with big portions and there was a relaxed, but warm atmosphere in the pub.

Llamé al caballo negro a la hora de comer hoy con nuestro perrito. Este era el punto medio para una caminata de regreso de unas 5 millas, así que listo para nuestro almuerzo. . El personal era alegre, servicial y mantuvo sus ojos en los clientes, anticipando sus necesidades. Ambos tuvimos un main & sweet con uno de los mains siendo una pequeña porción. Todo estaba recién cocinado y delicioso. Mi principal tenía una opción de guisantes o ensalada. La ensalada era una muy buena mezcla y no su lechuga, tomate y pepino cojos habituales. Todo tenía un precio razonable. Bien hecho al personal del caballo negro, volveremos muy pronto.

Excellent service as always. I'm really impressed with how clued uo they are to allergies, a great gluten free option for roast dinners! The roasted butternut squash with Brie and cranberry is also a great vegetarian option. Nice friendly atmosphere! There were 9 of us and the service was great, food was all fresh and warm.

Visited The Black Horse both last night for a drink and again today for lunch. Tuesday evening was buzzing with the quiz and we were warmly welcomed and catered for very well. This alone was enough for me to want to visit for lunch today and I was not disappointed at all. The welcome was once again warm and welcoming, locals around who also are friendly. The menu is classic and enticing. The food was cooked impeccably and portions generous. I’m so pleased to have found this gem which has many themed evenings to keep this traditional locals pub up and running. If ever I’m back in the area I will absolutely definitely be returning. Thank you all for making our brief visit so special.

Ni un vaso vacío perdido, super atento y tan amable! No podría haber sido fácil con gente de pared a pared. Trabajando en la industria yo mismo, sé lo difícil que es un día así, pero Black Horse lo destrozó! ¡Esperamos venir en un día más tranquilo y ver algunos de los otros eventos que hacen pronto!

Went here for a midweek lunch and pint pensioners two course meal for £9 is good value. Price of drinks slightly expensive for area. Could do with having a second guest beer to give a bit of variation from the Everard's standard beers available.

Pedimos bebidas en el bar de Colleen y ella era extremadamente servicial y agradable para hablar. La comida era increíble y fresco Voy a volver al 100%. Yo recomendaría a cualquiera que quiera ir a un pub acogedor para un asado de domingo increíble.

Excellent food and drinks choice. We were visiting Leicester and on our way home I googled for a good pub and The Black Horse came up. We had a mini breakfast each and it tasted great, good pot of tea to follow.

We heard the Black Horse is a lovely pub with a nice garden serving really good food & drink, so we headed down one Saturday for a family lunch. The weather was decent so we decided to sit in the garden. The gardens been developed really well creating plenty of areas under cover that could comfortably be used all year round. On this day though the weather was fair so we sat out at one of the large open garden benches. There's a wide range of drinks available, hot & cold, I had a nice pint of Sunchaser which is a Golden Ale brewed locally by Everards, my wife had a pot of tea with the others having soft drinks. There's various menus available to choose from, all homemade food & after placing our order it arrived hot & in good time. Between us we had The Nosebag & The Les-Tah from the Burgers menu, Hunters Chicken & Aylestone Fried Halloumi from the Small Meals menu. All round we were really happy with how our meals both looked and tasted, and felt that we'd got decent value for money, along with a really good level of service.

The Black Horse is such a welcoming pub with such friendly staff. The food is fantastic although the portions are very large but the menu is so varied! There is never a dull moment at the black horse as they have plenty of entertainment such as the comedy or live music me and my friends have enjoyed myself. The atmosphere, food, and selection of gins have really prompted me to go more often! I highly recommend this pub especially if you are enjoying a walk around the meadows it’s the perfect pit stop.

Proper Pub. Great atmosphere. Booked the Skittles Alley with bottomless grill for my 60th.. Food was lovely.. had a fantastic night and would have no hesitation in recommending... thanks for a great night guys...

Stumbled across this gem of a pub during canal bike ride - really really vegan friendly, great food, service and sunny beer garden! Would recommend.

I had a lovely experience at this pub. Friendly professional staff. Loved the feel of the pub decor and was very surprised with the size of the beer garden at the back. A brilliant pub with good home cooked food, a wide selection of beers & a great atmosphere. The landlord & landlady seem to have got everything just right & we will definitely be returning if we're ever back in the area.

Definitely one of the best pubs/restaurants to visit this summer - had multiple meals here every one absolutely superb - great menu lots to choose from, and everything is always cooked to perfection... From a wide range of burgers and your traditional home cooking it all here in one place .. Staff are always so helpful and welcoming and it's dog friendly ! A minute from Great Central Way which means a ideal place to end your walk. A relaxed atmosphere and always friendly staff puts this place top of the list....

It was my first time at this place and it would not be my last. What a fantastic pub with wonderful food and very friendly staff.

My husband had beef stew and dumplings, the stew was good But the dumplings were not edable he couldn't even get his fork in them told the girls to tell the cook, and not even a sorry came back. Not again.

Homemade Beef Stew. It's been a long time since I last had a stew of any kind. This meal didn't let me down. Everything that goes into a stew complements each other so well, from the carrots to the gravy, dumplings, and a baguette on the side to dip in. Words don't do this meal justice; you have to try for yourself.

Good experience at the black horse. The food is good, unfortunately there was a special menu we were not aware of and was not possible order from the main menu. Anyway, the food provided was delicious. Be aware that there is not so much space to park outside

Another great night at the Black Horse - 2 excellent comedy gigs (Tony Slattery, Jack Campbell), good atmosphere and very good beer. Didn’t eat tonight but food has previously been top notch for the price.

Had Sunday lunch at The Black Horse today and it was very disappointing. My roast, while basically tasty, had 1 roast potato, (a lady on the next table didn't get any) 1 slice of grisly beef and a globulus lump of mushy, inedible veg. I did get 3 pigs in blankets but that was because my vegetarian family members had them on their plates! They didn't send them back because it was so busy and we had already waited quite a while. My grandson a very nice burger so not all bad.

Absolutely love this place. Service, food and beer is just splendid. Beer well kept. :-)

I feel bad for not 5 starring this place but I've only been once and haven't sampled any food, the atmosphere was spot on for a Friday night, friendly, packed but not so loud you have to shout, the rear looks has plenty of space and seems to be a summer hub of activity. I'm looking forward to going back and getting a real feel for the place

Our family have been having Sunday dinner at this establishment for a good few years, for familiarity as my Father-in-law who sadly has Dementia and Alzheimer's disease it was something still vaguely familiar to him and up untill oct/Nov last year always had a great time with the staff....but food quality, special dietary requirements ( because of terminal cancer) has disappeared requests for soft, rather than Al dented vegetables or even cold have become the normal, food is over priced for portions delivered coffee always cold, numerous guests have joined us on many occasions and agreed quality was suddenly very poor.....no refunds for food that was beyond sub-standard etc ....when on our last visit Colleen the manager lied saying no-one new of our allergies, requirements (hot food and drinks) or our medical conditions which is a blatant lie, left our numer for Alan or Sarah to ring but over two weeks on not heard a thing....Colleen was shouting and acting so unreasonably infront of all of the customers l asked her if we could talk calmly out side but got nowhere so we decided to leave hoping Alan would ring out of curiosity but he didn't....Needless to say won't be returning never experienced such unprofessionalism and out right lieing AVOID its gone downhill and very over priced my Father-in-law was very upset after we left was heartbreaking to see him cry 😢

It's so good to have this pub as a local. There are plenty of plaudits on here about the food and beer etc. and it's all true. This is more than a pub though. It's a community hub and reflects Alan and Sarah's warmth, enthusiasm and altruism. A number of interest groups have made it their base and they certainly know how to entertain. A visit to the Black Horse is more than going out for a drink, it's being part of something bigger.

We called in to what we hope will be our local pub when we move into the village. When we walked through the door it was very cosy where the staff were very helpful and made us very welcome. For entertainment you could not fault them. Lots to do and enjoy, especially over this festive season. We did not have time to try the food but we have it from family who have eaten there, the food was very good.

Walked into lounge area roaring open fire and great atmosphere. One of the bar staff was extremely rude and ignorant. Others were all great. We'd hired the bowling room for the afternoon which was all lovely and warm for us. The BBQ food was set up in a small cabin and was amazing. Fantastic day. We like real ale good selection of that too. Highly recommended

If you're looking for an old school pub with a relaxed homely feel, this is the place. We enjoyed Sunday lunch here after the Remembrance Day parade at Victoria Park, and I can't praise the staff and especially Colleen for hosting us. The food was 5*, and the locals were extremely welcoming. Looking at what this place has to offer from open comedy nights to quizzes in its separate venue, there's something for everyone. Child and dog friendly with an open fire and plenty of seating, I just wish I didn't live in Northampton as this would become my local!!! Until next time, to Colleen and the team, thanks from us all. You made a difficult day very memorable for all the right reasons.
