1573 Bar & Grill in Leicester

The place is ok, not really a bar more a grill, I had a Bulmers out of a bottle for £7.50 and the lunch special which was three starters for £15, ribs , calamari and garlic bread with cheese, the cheese cost and extra £1.50. 4 calamari bites, two small pieces of bread and 5 small ribs. The food was ok but the value for money was not great, I should have gone for a main couse for the same price. Overall average

We enjoyed the experience, staff were kind and attentive, really had a good time with Fatima and Cam. Really good service and orientation with the menu, few times checked with the food, it was wonderful.

Absolutely superb restaurant for lunch or dinner. Service was amazing thanks to Cam, Fatima, Oliiwia and huge compliments to the chef. I would highly recommend this place and the paneer was unreal

I arrived today from Brazil and I stopped to eat at some restaurant, the atmosphere was very pleasant, with a very beautiful appearance, and as soon as I entered I concluded that in addition to being beautiful from the photos, the restaurant itself is also very beautiful. The service from the waiter Cameron was great, very excellent service 🥰 I will be back again with great pleasure.

Bottomless brunch review!: ATTEND! short and sweet as a title but so worth it! For 34.95 p/person, service, food and atmosphere was incredible. It's so great to see 1573 keeping up with trends, but with 0 compromises to keep up with a trend. Food was incredible - chicken and steak as predominant features on the lunch menu went down a treat and the drinks were free flowing as expected. Huge shout out to Cameron, Jeff and Olivia for being our staff for the afternoon - impeccable, attentive and so friendly - honestly a testament to 1573. Being one of my favourite places to eat in Leicester, they uphold the expectation of 1573 from a customer point of view. Definitely value for money and one to not disappoint- thank you once again for today and we'll be back soon!

Our party of five had a reservation at 1573 Bar and Grill for 7pm. I thoroughly enjoy dining in distinctive or themed establishments. This particular restaurant was once an old school house, exuding a charming old-world ambiance. The spacious leather seats were incredibly comfortable, and the classy décor added to the overall experience. The menu surpassed our expectations with its variety, and the extensive drink menu was a pleasant surprise. The service was efficient, and the food was simply delightful.

Best steak I've had in ages! Much better than Middleton's or knight and garter

The food was absolutely delicious and the wine perfectly complemented our meal. The service was top-notch—truly excellent! Cam and Holly were attentive and friendly. The ambiance was cozy and inviting and truly enhanced the overall dining experience. I highly recommend and we will definitely be returning on our next visit.

Recommendations are always spot on by the serving staff, amazing environment that makes you feel comfortable yet still classy. Can’t fault the food, came out in good time and cooked to perfection. This is my go to when going out to eat and for good reason!

I would say chef Charles and the rest are good because they way they brought their food presentation was amazing the food is good and l recommend people to go and eat it

Nice setting reasonable service one food excellent other average We were visiting Leicester for a friend’s birthday and, after the party , decided to visit here Granted it was a Tuesday night and we arrived at 8.30 Pleasant enough greeting and a table for 2 given. There was only one other table occupied We only wanted one course so B had Mushrooms and I had Mussels Drinks priced as you expect with a nice NZ Sauvignon B’s course was excellent my Mussels average here’s why Menu said Mussels in White Wine, Garlic and Parsley with Fries. When they arrived it was a cream sauce no mention of that on the menu. That’s ok I don’t mind a cream sauce but I do like a Bread Roll to finish the sauce No bread with the Mussels, and ghetto plate to put the shells was too small I asked for a bread roll which duly arrived very hot ( too hot to touch ) and butter I ate the roll and some of the sauce A good mushroom starter and very average mussels you can buy them in Sainsbury’s for much less grated nearly £26 and £2 for the bread roll Probably should have tried a steak but there you go Points for the management. Be accurate on the menu otherwise I think the Mussels would be sent back Think about what to do with the sauce ( which was nice ). And for those using fingers provide a proper wipe

My husband and I enjoyed a very good steak meal, cooked to absolute perfection. The front of house staff were very attentive without being a nuisance & the music was good, a bit of Kate Bush and other equally great artists at a volume that was just right. The beer and cocktails were excellent. Wonderful atmosphere and experience. We’ve visited before & will absolutely visit again.

The most amazing experience ever! The ambience is really cozy, perfect for couples or nice evening with the girls. The staff was really welcoming from the moment we entered as we were greeted with big smiles, especially from Jeff. He was very polite and truly made our experience memorable. Not many cuts of steak to choose from and quality and execution is just mediocre. We ordered two steaks both medium rare but one came out rare and one came out medium well! Service is very good and a decent bar. Prices are reasonable

1573 is my absolute favourite spot. The burgers and steak are top notch and the only thing that beats it is the service they give. Big ups to Jefferson and Olivia :) Would def be back for their beautiful smiles. 10/10 recommend

Had Easter Sunday lunch here with the girlfriend can't really say anything bad had the lamb shank was just beautiful veg was good gravy was bit of a letdown but the sticky toffee pud made up for it nice staff to.

It's while since we've eaten here but having read a recent review on Leicester Mercury I'm confused? We have a coeliac in our group and restaurant couldn't have been more accommodating. Food and service was excellent - would definitely recommend to anyone.

Saturday lunch time - Leicester was really busy but they managed to accommodate us without a booking. Lovely building we were seated upstairs nice comfy chairs. Staff were very polite and friendly. We had the lunch menu - soup was beautiful served with warm bread. I had a lovely steak cooked perfectly. My partner had the Cajun chicken also really nice. Not the cheapest place to eat but you get what you pay for and we were really happy with the whole service. Would return.

Came here for a family members birthday. Meal booked for 8pm on a Saturday night. The restaurant is lovely, nothing new or exciting but seemed clean. For a Saturday night it wasn’t very busy, we sat upstairs and there were a couple of other tables being used. Service was good, checked up on throughout our stay which was nice. The food was also lovely but portion control seemed to go out of the window. Don’t usually complain about getting too much food but out of the 5 people around the table, not one person was able to finish a meal. So many chips which the meal, we all ended up leaving over half of them. Far too many so I dread to think of the food waste amounts 😳🫣 that’d be my biggest criticism m. Overall lovely though.

My wife and I had lunch at the 1573 bar and grill for the first time on Monday. What a great place. Couldn't fault it. Clean, tidy, delicious food, served hot, good sized portions. Cameron was front of house, and delivered excellent service. Gluten free food too. Brilliant. We'll be back. The chef clearly takes great pride in the food he serves.

Possibly the best meal out I’ve ever had. It was my first time coming to 1573 & being vegetarian, the menu had a lot of options for me. The food was incredible. The staff were lovely. Such a nice, cosy restaurant too. Will definitely be returning.

The most amazing cocktails created to my taste. I’m a very picky person when it comes to drinks however bartender Beth was very accommodating to my requests.

The experience was not very good. Just in terms of the taste of the meal, neither my friend nor I liked it very much, but of course one can chalk it up to individual taste differences. However, the whole service process made us uncomfortable. First of all, we went there after calling to make a reservation, but we were not greeted and we had to wait for a while before we were shown to our seats. That's the problem, despite the fact that the restaurant has two floors and there were plenty of empty seats on the ground floor, we were taken to a table for two very close to each other and sat next to two other Chinese people. This made me feel very uncomfortable, and if you belong to an ethic group, you may understand how I felt. Of course, you can't call it discrimination, but everything in the air makes you feel like you are the unwelcome one. Similarly, when another table of Chinese tried to pay the bill, no one paid any attention to them and finally they had to stand up and go to the front desk to. It's hard to call this kind of service attitude passable in a restaurant at this price point, I guess. When we asked the waitress if she had any recommendations, her response was hardly professional either. We ordered a sauce for our steak and for the first time forgot to give us the sauce when we were served. The second time, we were given two sauces（including one we donot order). In the end, we refused to pay for the service and the waitress lady asked us why, probably because we didn't feel truly respected throughout the entire process.

Very pleasant cosy atmosphere but conveniently situated in the city centre. Food good, good quality steak but not quite cooked the way I ordered. Easily put it down to an oversight and would certainly go back.

Came up for a night away and honestly this is probably one of the best restaurants I have ever been to.. the staff were extremely friendly and efficient and the food was out of this world..in a old school from the 1500's it's was the perfect setting for me and my boyfriend to have a lovely romantic meal.. i highly recommend this restaurant

It is nice place but the cost of meal is overpriced. I ordered Cajun Paneer Skewers. Don't get me wrong but I had more onions rather that paneer. It was tested nice but other restaurants have also lovely meals for less price. The size of this meal was ok but as general in my opinion this Girl and Bar isn't the best as others said. Nothing special about this place.

My partner and I have visited the restaurant for the first time. Once we came inside the place looked lovely, romantic theme. The young lady’s customer skills were very poor for this kind of place however she has tried her best. The steak was horrible-very chewy. We have requested well done but it came raw-medium. Overall, I would NOT recommend. There is so many better places to have a steak in Leicester. The owner should really investigate this place because it has so much potential.

We were excited to find this place as we love a place with some history, and it looks lovely inside. We ordered 4 plates to share (starters/sides) and were sadly really disappointed. The food was so bland, none of the dishes tasted of anything. Even the jalapeños on the nachos were tasteless. I don't think there was any garlic in the garlic mushrooms or garlic prawns. A whole bottle of tonic was poured into my gin and tonic so I couldn't taste the gin. We left wishing we'd gone somewhere else.

We visited the restaurant for a family celebratory lunch, we were welcomed and looked after throughout the meal by Beth who was friendly, professional and provided an excellent level of service - as well as making delicious cocktails! I had the rib with herb mash and carrots, I have to say, I tucked right in and had almost devoured it before I realised I hadn't taken a photo ! But I can assure you, it was perfect ! Meat do tender, it fell off the bone, the mash was delish, just enough for someone with a slightly smaller appetite.

I stopped by 1573 to have a Sunday lunch. I tried the 2 courses menu. I ordered soup of the day followed by Sunday roast (I choose the Irish beef option). Overall, I was pleased with food and service - staff was very professional and food very tasty. I will discuss food in more detail below. I had tomato soup (soup of the day). Ingredients were well-balanced and flavour was good enough to lead to the main course. Soup was accompanied by white bread with butter. As pointed out to management, toasted bread (instead of plain white) would've been a better option. Perhaps, having brown bread (handmade bread even better!) roasted and chopped in cubes would've given a further push to the starter. The Sunday roast was excellent. Good selection of vegetables, finely cooked and well-presented. I particularly enjoyed the assortment of vegetables (beans, potatoes, cauliflowers, parsnip) and the Yorkshire pudding. The food combined well with a glass of Nero d'Avola - the wine card of the restaurant featured a vast and heterogenous display of wines. This allowed room for choice and made the experience more interesting. Service was delivered professionally. Waitress was very kind and courteous. She really looked after me. Staff asked if I enjoyed the food and if I was happy. Lastly, atmosphere: the restaurant/grill, situated in the old grammar school of Leicester, features a captivating architecture. It is possible to dine inside or outside: decor is elegant (indoors) and ideal for dining or having drinks. Outdoors, there are tables and benches with umbrellas - ideal spot go have lunch or drinks after shopping in the city centre. I recommend this place!

Poor quality ‘Sirloin’ so much gristle! The batter on the onion rings had not been seasoned, sadly resulting in a tasteless side. Food presented nicely but let down by the quality of the steak and silly errors. Lovely setting, terrible music.

I dined with a group yesterday evening and I was extremely happy with every aspect of the meal. Delicious food, attentive service and considering the size of the paneer main portion, very good value for money too. Every item on the plate popped with flavour.
