The Black Cat Cafe in Worthing

Was told that the Black Cat was a good full breakfast by a friend, he did warn me that there are 2 cooks 1 good and 1 that was terrible, we got the terrible. Waited 25 minutes to get cold food, over cooked poached eggs. Would recommend any other cafe than the Black Cat Worthing.

What a real gem of a cafe. Great welcome, super service, excellent food.Our daughters and their husbands and family usually eat with us at home in Worthing before going walkabout...beach, town etc. We decided on Saturday to lunch locally as the weather was poor and so we popped into the Black Cat (passed it almost daily but, being on our doorstep we hadn't neede to use). What a gem! 6 adults and 4 young children easily and quickly seated and given a super choice of meals....all superb. We were absolutely amazed that, after a sensible wait, all 10 meals were served together within a few minutes. As many will be aware, delays are the norm in most places. Everything was spot on and the price was very very reasonable. The ladies also spotted the cherry pie available and have put the Black Cat firmly on their must visit places now. I think our home offering may now be second choice on their next visit! Well done staff.

Sunday breakfast lots of choice I normally build my own breakfast which is great. Only thing I would suggest is to have thicker slices of black pudding. Great value and friendly service

The staff have always greeted us with a warm welcome and it's a great little place away from the hustle and bustle of the High Street. They have an excellent all day breakfast menu, from set breakfasts, to, pick your own, and a veggie option too.

Whenever my friend and I visit Worthing, we always stop off the The Black Cat Cafe for a late breakfast. We originally stumbled upon the place about 2 years ago and really enjoyed sitting at a little table by the window, watching the world go by as we ate our Black Cat Special Breakfasts! The staff are sweet and unobtrusive and there always seem to be lots of people who must visit the cafe regularly. The portions are generous and the food is well cooked. Not being a fan of baked beans means that I get to choose which type of tomatoes to have instead of 'holding the beans'. Breakfasts come with tea/coffee and choice of toast, which is great. We haven't tried anything else to eat here because we always look forward to the breakfast !

Absolutely charming cafe, and delicious breakfast. Interesting cat related bits and bobs on the walls, and lovely friendly staff. Very good value too.

Two lovely guys run this new cafe in St James Street Brighton. Nice selection of food on the menu from cakes to salads to sandwiches and soup. The coffee is to die for! Had to have two!! This will now be a regular for me as I had two of my all time faves, a Greek Salad and (two) cappacinnos. Do pop in, you,ll love it!

Stopped here just on the off chance, half an hour before closing. My friend had a small breakfast which she said was excellent and I had an egg mayo sandwich with extra salad. It was brilliant value for money and all freshly made. And they didn’t hurry us out the door when they shut. The place was clean and the staff were friendly. We will definitely be going there again.

Awesome full English fry up (The Fat Cat). Cooked to perfection, lovely ingredients, with a nice cup of tea. Perfect.

We stumbled on this cafe while out for a stroll and what a great find it was. The food and service is excellent and it’s very cosy, clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.

This cafe is very busy, seating a little tight, but food and service is of the highest standard. The thing that did impress me is that you can order what you want , but also leave a credit with the cafe, so that homeless people can call in there and get a warm drink. This did impress me. Like the old days carding for others. Well done

The best most fantastic cafe in Worthing in my opinion. DIVINE fry ups! Cannot get enough. However, since I have become vegan I have not been as satisfied, the veggie sausages there are just fried sausage shaped mash with sad peas and sweet corn in there (which is to be honest is plain and minging - no one likes them! I don’t know why they are even options in places! Same goes for the similar veggie burger patty’s everywhere - they’re sh*t, lets just be real) which with the other vegan options for a fry up basically restricts you to beans, toast and a variety of potatoes, it doesn’t really make for a thrilling breakfast. It would be amazing if Linda McCartney sausages were used or some other great vegan meat replacements! (And general other vegan friendly foods!) you sales would sore! People are crying out for it! Please please add them to your menu and replace the dreaded mash turds! I don’t want to miss out on your amazing cooking any longer

I've been here a number of times now, something feels very special about this lovely café. A great place to watch the world go by and of course they do fantactic breakfasts :)

Visited this morning whilst waiting for our car tyres to be done and decided to have breakfast. Must say the location, decor, and space (not to mention the food), was excellent.

We happened across this gem in between looking at 9 flats in Worthing. We were warmly welcomed and I had an excellent ‘fat cat’ breakfast - WOW!! My wife had a delicious sausage sandwich. The bill was very reasonable, we’ll definitely be back as we had an offer accepted on one of the flats we viewed

Found this little cafe while visiting Worthing. Was just our cup of tea we love cats, as black cats were everywhere. (pictures and decor only) Did not see a real black cat, wonder if they have one. Lots to choose from on the menu. We just had the ice cream milkshakes with all the trimmings, went down very well. Prices were very reasonable. Will go back again. Friendly staff, clean premises and comfy chairs.

No visit to Worthing is complete without calling in at this little gem of a cafe. The Black Cat is worth the extra 10 minute stroll from the centre as it offers great value for money and a warm welcome. The owners have done a great job here, a well run, independent outlet with charm. Clean and disabled friendly. Go, visit and make sure Worthing gets to keep this treasure for many years to come.

have been here a few times, with friends. all of us have babies and they are very accomdating, with lots of room for small groups with Buggies. We have tried their fry ups which are very nice - variety of drinks a little more lackHowever we do keep coming back.

This is a lovely cafe, I received a friendly welcome from a cheerful young lady. There were numerous options for lunch, from sandwiches to hot food and salads. The coffee was good quality too. I will lunch here again when next in the area. The prices were reasonable too.

Different breakfasts for different hunger, lovely freshly cooked, great value for the money, great for friends and family.

Have visited here a couple of times, the food is basic breakfasts, sandwiches and baked potatoes. The menu is really good and includes many dietary meals especially good for vegetarians and vegans. Not tried the home made cakes yet as fill up on lunch which is always well presented. Really like that they support Worthing Cat Welfare and Cats Protection as well.

So expensive Travelodge brekkie was not for me, so I popped around the corner to this cafe. Breakfasts can come in all sizes with add ons and take offs clearly priced.

We had a simple breakfast here. You can build your own by choosing the items for 80p each. Good service and excelling real on the spot cooked food. £7 for two people.

We ate here twice for breakfast whilst staying in the Premier Inn around the corner. I recommend the Cat's Whiskers Breakfast for £3.70. What a bargain! Friendly staff and tasty food.

What a gem found , the menu was well presented, service good and very polite. Decided to try a small breakfast, it came with toast and coffee as part of a very fairly priced meal.Plenty of seating and Free Wifi, a nice touch is if you pay for a extra coffee on settling the bill then they will offer a free cup to the homeless people, Will go back again.

Had breakfast at nearly lunch time (I think they serve it all day). Choose any one item or 7 for £5. They do an even larger offer but certainly 7 items with a cuppa was more than enough! Cooked as you wait so no half cold sausages. Had poached eggs done to perfection. Vegetarian sausages also available.

Had a brunch here and l was surprised at how well it was all set up, clean with Cats items here and there.

We tried this cafe out as we hadn't been before and the prices were very reasonable. Clean, friendly and very reasonably priced. No frills British food.

Well priced good value breakfast. Plenty of room to swing a cat. I didn't feel as if patrons were sitting on top of each other. Only down side is there is no fried slice.

After a walk along the prom we dropped in for 3 ' black day ' and 1 'cats whiskers' breakfasts. Not disappointed. Sausages were lively and eggs cooked to perfection. A good runny yoke without being runny is a good barometer in my book.

Met up with a couple of friends for breakfast here on recommendations and I'm really glad we did because it is such a lovely place with very good food!

My partner and I visited this cafe as we were passing and I'm so glad we did. We tried a slice of the crunchy chocolate cake each which was delicious! There was a lovely gentleman serving who was so attentive and friendly, really creating a warm atmosphere.

I've been twice now and have had consistently good food. Okay, not adventurous; jacket potato both times, but lovely on both occasions. The tea is very good too, as was the service.

We just popped in for an afternoon cuppa but felt very welcome. The waiters were very helpful to a disabled man and to a mother with small children. The tea was good too.

Stayed in Worthing for the night at the nearby Travelodge, wanted a nice decent breakfast so I did my research beforehand. This looked like the best option. Opening time stated as 9:00am we arrived probably just in time, I appreciate that we were eager and it takes a few minutes to set everything up so we were asked to wait outside for 5 minutes. The chef then came outside and called us in, very friendly chef and younger chef was also friendly. Two young girls serving were polite enough but not as welcoming as kitchen staff!

The owner cooked my breakfast and was ver chatty as was his wife. I had a first class brekfast and coffee and toast all for about £10. It was quite a treat actually. Nice people and a really good fried breakfast!!

I took 3 people there for breakfast on Sunday morning and all of them were impressed with the quality of the food the service and the place.

I've popped into this cafe a couple of times this past year and have been pleasantly surprised by the staff and food on offer. Staff are very friendly and helpful. There's a nice selection of teas and cakes on offer plus their breakfasts are huge! If you want a cheap and cheerful breakfast to start the day stop off here!

We just popped in on a Sunday afternoon for a cup of coffee and opted for a slice of cake as well. We had the banana cake and the cherry and coconut cake and would say they were two of the best cakes we have ever tasted, both homemade. The Americano coffee with milk was also excellent and the prices for both were very reasonable. The cafe was clean and the service very pleasant.

My husband and I are on a mission to find the perfect cooked breakfast so decided to try this café... It's slightly further out of town but well worth the extra short walk. We both opted for the full breakfast, can't remember the name but cat themed of course, but we both substituted the black pudding for another item. The breakfast was all freshly cooked and presented really nicely. What I really enjoyed is that it wasn't all greasy and dripping in fat, it was cooked perfectly. I think our mission might be complete ;-)

What a pity I have been there 4/5 times for brunch each time it was fine.. But this time food was so bad I could it it all I didn't ask for money back but through I would just tell them( after I had paid) the answer that came out of the kitchen was rude in fact take it or leave it.. Will not set foot in there again

Having recently moved to the area, found this great place for breakfast. My hubby loves going out for a cooked breakfast and the black cat cafe was a great find. Very reasonable and cooked just right.

Really like that you can order a variety of standard breakfasts to help you choose or create your own breakfast with up to 15 items for £6.90. Not just breakfasts but salads, sandwiches, burgers, cakes etc. Nice and clean and responsive quick staff

Today I had the pensioner's cooked breakfast,which is served Tuesdays and Thursdays. I had the same on my first visit and it really is a very nicely presented plate of food,served by very pleasant staff in attractive, clean surroundings.The fry up, complete with toast and tea is priced at just £3 and this includes 2 little packets of butter and a little biscuit to go with the hot drink.There are newspapers to read if you are eating alone and the loo is spotlessly clean too.I strongly urge you to visit this great cafe and give it the business that it richly deserves,before it goes the way of so many other Worthing eateries in the Rowlands Road area.

What a pleasant cafe, I came in about 10 just for a cuppa whilst my car was in the garage not far away, my mum recommend this cafe to go to whilst I wait, I looked at the drinks page and ordered just a single cup of tea as I take so long with my tea, whist I was waiting and sitting there I looked at the menu, what a choice I was just being nosey to see what they have to order, I really quite impressed with the breakfast menu and if I didn't already have my breakfast earlier in the morning I would of definitely ordered it, as now looking at the other reviews about the breakfast I wish I didn't have my breakfast earlier now, I like the idea of build your own breakfast, others should do this as it's a good idea, when I need a full English I will be coming here for definite, the lady who was serving was very polite and friendly, this custom doesn't cost much does it, when I went to pay for my cup of tea I was pleasantly surprised it only cost £1, thanks for your custom and passing some time whilst I waited for my car, I'll be back for a breakfast as soon as I can

I have only recently discovered and enjoyed a meal at the Black Cat Cafe, where I found a warm and welcoming atmosphere, good food and at a fair price.

We loved this place. Building your own breakfast is a great idea - more cafes should do this. Food was freshly cooked, hot and tasty. Waiter very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely return!

My partner and I visited this little cafe looking for a decent, hot breakfast but at 12:30! Upon arrival it was spotlessly clean and we chose a seat in the window. We were given time to review the menu. Then a lovely young lady ask for a our. Two 'The Black Cat Special' breakfast. Also a 50p contribution to the 'Share the Warmth Homeless Scheme!' A very hot, flavoursome breakfast arrived. We enjoyed it all. We will most likely return today for breakfast again! Thank you all.

We are a large group of friends that meet for breakfast. This is a great place to meet, big tables for big groups and they don't mind if you put tables together. The staff are friendly and helpful. The chef comes out and checks on how your food is too!

Huge portions, good food, good price, good service.. What else do you need? 15 items for 7 pound did you say? I shall see you next week.

Cosy, welcoming, and lovely breakfasts for the four of us. First time we had been here and were very impressed. Wonderful setting too, being right on the seafront. Food was definitely above average café quality with ample portions. Even on an October morning it was very busy. In the summer it must be even more so. Although we were here for breakfast, there was an enticing selection of cakes and a huge pile of fruit scones. Next time we visit Worthing we will be back here again. Highly recommended.

My first visit was on Thursday and I've been back again today. Everything was perfect, really friendly too. Might need a "frequent flyer" pass at this rate

Sunday 11th October 8 of us was all out on a motorcycle run and we called into the Black Cat cafe in Worthing and as you can see it was great and all for £5.90 with a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of toast, the service was superb and we will return in the near future B B

Mum and I popped in for breakfast and were really happy with the service and price. Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, good menu and I liked that they advertise the local charities too. Vege friendly - the owner even came to re-assure me that the sausages where truly vege! I definitely recommend others to eat here and will look forward to my next visit.

I have been very lucky this week to have treated twice this week by my Uncle at the Black Cat.

I went into the Black Cat Cafe today and had an excellent build your own breakfast. The cafe is cosy, clean and has great attention to detail. The staff were friendly and had good knowledge of the menu. My breakfast was amazing and great value. I will definitely be going back and recommending this cafe to my friends and family.

I dropped in to the Black Cat cafe yesterday lunch time after being recommended by others to visit, and I was not disappointed the service the food and the presentation!!! All perfect and can't wait to return

Had a lunch today in black cat.... chicken burger. I thought you cannot go wrong with chicken burger, however in black cat : yes, you can. Chicken from a packet bought in Iceland probably, fried in deep oil ( old oil) + chips - smell of old oil.

I've been a few times now, for breakfast and Sunday lunch, both were great. Friendly and helpful staff and very reasonable prices, great value.

The food is always freshly cooked and serve on warm plates by friendly staff at ridiculously reasonable prices, and the loos are the cleanest you will ever see! My new 'favourite cafe' in Worthing.

Very nice little cafe. The food was good, the place is clean, excellent breakfast, will be returning!

I have eaten at this cafe a couple of times and on each occasion it was a pleasant experience. Today, I chose a five item breakfast which came with a hot drink of my choice (coffee) and waited whilst this was all brought out to my table, and promptly too. Everything is cooked nicely, and the meal at £3.10 with a coffee represents excellent value for money.
