Stopped in the area for work, and found this lovely pub with gorgeous beer garden and really nice food… So good, I went back for a second night The midweek set menu was real value for money with excellent options. Highly recommend and when in the area, will definitely be eating at the Bell Inn

We went for a Sunday roast which was delicious with generous portions. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.

Hadn't visited The Bell since since the mid 1960s, when it was owned by the family of a school friend. Obviously, the layout and look had greatly changed since that time. We had booked a table for a dinner... we weren't staying there. The staff were very friendly, and the service excellent. We all ordered the special for the day, chicken, leek, mushroom and prosciutto pie, which was generous in size and packed with filing - the pastry case was good as well!

Had dinner for two here whilst staying locally during our walk along the Cotswold Way. Booking was easy and confirmed by email. The decor was lovely, the staff friendly and efficient and the meals were excellent. Nothing much else to say as I can't fault the whole experience.

Mother’s Day was absolutely fantastic meal from the starter to the main course the roast beef dinner was absolutely delicious. The vegetables are good sizes roast potatoes to die for and the apple crumble and custard was delicious. Absolutely fabulous meal for a special Mother’s Day. We will definitely be back again and again. excellent outstanding service very prompt with the orders. Good staff friendly, welcoming well done.

What a fantastic Sunday lunch?!! Service was quick and the staff were really pleasant. The food came out nice and hot and it was absolutely delicious! I had the beef which was cooked exactly how I like it, nice and pink! You will struggle to find a better Sunday lunch in this area!

Found The Bell as was looking for somewhere to stay over for one night in Chipping Sodbury. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Room 4. Lovely decor and the breakfast was superb all freshly cooked by John (I think!) the landlord. We didn't get chance to enjoy a Sunday roast but the restaurant was full and the food coming out as we checked in looked extremely tasty. Look forward to returning at some point.

The family (with 2 dogs) gathered here for a post-Xmas Sunday lunch. The booking process was easy, as was the pre-ordering for the 10 of us. We enjoyed a lovely lunch with extra vegetables brought out - all very tasty. The staff were all lovely and friendly. Afterwards we easily moved to the area by the wood fire for extra drinks. Someone mentioned on here that a 10% tip is added to the bill so that they accidentally paid a bigger tip. When our bill was brought to us it was mentioned this was on there but it could easily be taken off, and it was clearly listed on the bill. In fact we added a little more as we were all happy with the service and food. As I live in the area I look forward to visiting again very soon.

I was very disappointed the last time I dined here. I won't be visiting again. We booked for lunch but when we arrived we were told we would have to wait to order; it was the week before Christmas and, understandably they were quite busy. A waiter did eventually take our orders and there was another longish wait, for which the staff apologised. The food, when it did eventually arrive, was nice enough. What annoyed me is that we were then abandoned. We waited for 40 minutes but nobody came to clear our plates, still less offer us coffee and dessert. I understand that they had been busy but really, if you can't cater for people then don't take their bookings. Some family members later told me they'd recently booked a table here but then had to wait more than an hour before they could even order. I finally went to the bar to pay, and noticed some of the staff enjoying their own lunch in the next room. I declined to pay the 10% service charge which was automatically added to the bill - happy to pay for good service, but not for bad. Fortunately there are quite a few other eateries in and around Chipping Sodbury.

We came here today for a family Christmas meal. All staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was utterly delicious, and very reasonably priced too. The pub is very clean, bright and spacious. We will definitely be back again, thank you!

Lovely meal and very friendly. A few things ran out off the menu but we managed to choose an alternative potato dish and different sorbet. All tasted very nice. Could have cleared our glasses and bottles from the table as they were empty and offered more water but apart from that it is a great pub 👍 Didn't see the rooms no no rating.

Very poor experience today, probably caused from the kitchen which had run out of syrup and tried to fob us off with a very dry waffle thinking we would accept it. Put the waitress in a very difficult position. All they had to do was communicate with each other! However the situation was resolved with a replacement meal but should never happened in the first place. Disappointing that the manager took a back seat in all this and didn’t come to see us personally, leaving it all to the excellent waitress.

Such a fabulous find! Stayed briefly for lunch, and found that yes ladies really do do lunch in this little corner of the world. Chipping Sodbury was our destination to buy daughters new car and we ate at The Bell Inn before going home. We initially had tea by the real fire before lunch. Absolutely fantastic service and the food was delicious. The touch that was really great was when we ordered food and thought daughter would have returned from completing the paperwork, to eat. It took her longer and the staff offered to take her food back to the kitchen to keep it warm and fresh. There was plenty of it too so I ended up taking some home in a small box. The decor is gorgeous, the prices great. Free car parking and the facilities all on the same level so great for those with lesser abilities.

My family and I went for Sunday lunch, the service was good and swift. There were a number of people there, but you could talk to your group without disturbing anybody else. Not been there for a number of years, but will return soon.

The bell inn was absolutely wonderful the staff were so welcoming and the room was so comfortable and clean everything you need was in reach. The food was cooked wonderful and breakfast was very good with arrange of different choices especially for people with atolorences like me was catered for. Would definitely use again as we were visiting family for early Christmas thank you to all the staff at the bell inn you are amazing 👏

A mixed review on Sundays roast. Generous portions of meat and veg but short on gravy and mediocre temperature. Expensive desserts IMHO. And an optional but included 10% service charge which nobody wants to object to for fear of offending. Its a covert way of charging more which I find really annoying

Although the food was good the 10% service charge is misleading as it says optional but is in fact already added to the bill, so I inadvertently tipped twice!

We visited mid-afternoon on a Sunday (fully booked until then) for a late lunch. The decor and ambiance was welcoming and everything was clean. The service was prompt and friendly. The food arrived in good time and the quality of the food, both Sunday roast and other menu options, was absolutely excellent. Food was to a very high quality and presented well. It was clear that food was home prepared.

We have used the restaurant on many occasions previously and have mostly been happy with the food and service. We booked a table for seven for Sunday lunch , when we arrived we had been allocated a table for 6 with an extra place squeezed on the end of the table .. not ideal but no problem. Ordered drinks which arrived in good time , however my large glass of wine had way less in the glass than my wife's large glass .. not ideal but no problem. We ordered our Sunday roast meals , which came from the kitchen fairly quickly , which wasn't of the best quality, Yorkshire puddings were burnt, roast potatoes were more like boiled potatoes, the veg )which came on a separate plate) was barely enough to share between us which was a bit disappointing. After we had finished the meal we felt rushed to leave the table. Overall not the best experience and we would choose to go elsewhere next time ... Could do so much better .

Conveniently located on the main road. A bit of a walk to town center. Nice bar with the usuals. Friendly staff. Especially Jams, super helpful and knowledgeable. Will do again.

We stayed 2 nights, the room was clean and bed very comfortable, and the breakfast in the morning with plenty of choice. The staff were very good and helpful and would definitely recommend it.

If you are needing a room while walking the Cotswold way do not stay at this pub / hotel. It is over a mile off the path and is really in Chipping Sodbury. The Dog Inn would be a more sensible option.

Just ate in there and the food was outstanding! The service was amazing too! The ladies working couldn't do enough. From recommending dishes we would like, to waiting on us and everyone else hand and foot. They couldn't do enough. Will definitely be back. Keep up the good work. 👍

We thought we should come back to where we enjoyed a meal the year before, but this time the food was not at the same standard. In particular the kids "pizza" should not be named as such, as it was two thick pieces of bread slices with tomatoes on top. Although i love the location and the service is good, so they are trying - but just some more care and attention to the menu could bring the place back to where we left it before. I thoroughly hope so!

Booked in for sunday lunch as in area to see the Who at Badminton Very pleasant building on pull up promptly shown to table by young servers,both myself and wife went for the beef option very nice meal and super sweets to follow nice range of drinks as well.not the cheapest but quality rarely is ,would recommend.

Top notch hospitality here! Loved this hotel and restaurant. The owners are so friendly and accommodating. Nicely decorated, simple rooms with great shower. Great restaurant with vegan options and tasty gin cocktails (I'm not even a gin drinker). My husband said his fish and chips were the best he had in two weeks in the Cotswolds!!

Come here often lovely atmosphere, always made welcome, lovely staff and service and food is amazing! Rump steak perfect! burgers perfect! cod and chips perfect! kids pizza perfect, I rarely give a 5 star all round but this is an exception ideal for families and partners as tables are sectioned well!

Ate here whilst staying just down the road in Old Sodbury. Located on the main road it offers good food with friendly staff. We had the scampi and double burger - gluten free. Both were excellent and good value

Was taken here for Father’s Day by my son-for Sunday lunch. Premises were clean and decorated well. Staff were very efficient and quick. However three lamb roasts ordered and served up very quickly. However one slight issue the lamb was Luke warm but all veg and potatoes were hot. There was good portions. Desserts were good and served hot. Prices are on the higher side three lamb roasts and three desserts three cokes and one small Guinness/Black just shy off £100 .When paying the lady gave my son the bill and asked him to check to make sure it was correct.He noticed a service charge had been added at 10% without making him or us aware it had been added. He politely asked for it to be removed-seem to take seconds to add it but took a couple of minutes to remove it. Now I believe service charges should be made aware to customers and they should be given the opportunity to accept or reject it. This was never offered. Tips are down to the discretion of the customer- not for pubs/restaurants to expect. Imagine if other businesses started adding service charges on top of the service or products they purchase from that business. Allow the customer to decide don’t expect additional funds on top of the costs that are payed for your food and services.

Went for a meal with the misses, food was very greasy and quite pricey compared to other pubs in the area. Wasn’t very busy but staff were lovely and polite.

Food and service OK, not going to win any Gastro awards any time soon but could have been worse. way too much chorizo jam on our burger which was overly rich, would give most people the runs. My Sea bass with crushed potatoes was average (had burnt crusty bits like from the bottom of a frying pan). Lad serving me leant right over me getting in my face a bit too much to be comfortable rather than being mindful enough to walk round me a bit.

Spent a night here whilst traveling to Wales during the Easter Holidays, what a delightful little experience! Clean, comfortable, and in a quiet location. Insanely fast service when ordering a late-evening meal, I had ordered myself a beef burger which was divine. The staff were ever so kind to us and really quite charming. The breakfast buffet was reasonably well-ranged, you can find something that’ll suit every taste. Parking was a breeze, plenty of space for people staying overnight. I’ll say that we left The Bell Inn feeing very satisfied and that we hadn’t wasted a penny. I would highly recommend coming here as I’ll definitely be coming back sometime in the near future! 🛎️

We are lucky enough to live within a few minutes walk to The Bell and visit a couple of times a month. We always get really good food and service but last nights meal was the best we’ve ever had. Everything was simply delicious. Can’t recommend enough.

Lovely food…Interesting service. Met up here for a Sunday lunch as it’s half way between families. We have always had great service & food at The Swan & The Sodbury Steakhouse so we though we would try The Bell Inn, as it’s the same chain and local to us. I noticed The Bell was “dog friendly”. So I mentioned in our booking we have a friendly, well behaved dog and I just wanted to confirm this. I shortly received a phone call and had the all okay and thumbs up to bring the dog. Once we had arrived and sat down, I will assume the manager, made a snark remark saying “the dog will have to stay under the table for the duration of our stay”. Bearing in mind this is a labour and we were sat tucked away in the corner, not near any other table, in our own area with our dog laid between our table and the wall. (A labour or any medium/large size dog would not comfortably sit under a table) He was not bothering anyone being to the side of the table. Our labour was on the lead the whole stay, never once barked, jump up, make a sound or bother any other diner. The manner in which this comment was made, made us all feel unwelcome! The attitude of this member of staff was carried throughout the duration of our service, with other comments being made. I must say the other waitresses went about the matter in a much more professional and polite way, and we thank them for that. We fully appreciate not everyone is into dogs or has a fear but there are ways and manners to go about it, especially if you state you are “dog friendly” establishment. Although the food was amazing, and the service from the waitresses was lovely, we wouldn’t rush back to The Bell due to service of one member of staff, and would rather go to one of their sister restaurants. “Dog Friendly” at a push!

One of the best Sunday roasts we have had. A shame the waitress was so miserable and only raised a smile as we were leaving ! Apparently she’s always the same! Put us off going back!

We met our family at The Bell for the first time for a Christmas lunch, as it was "in the middle" of all of us. We were welcomed very warmly by all the staff, and our pre-ordered meals were exactly as requested, to suit all of us. Our food was excellent, and we were able to order an extra pud for one who still had some room to eat it! Thank you to everyone for helping to make it a lovely day! As everyone's journey was a good one, we shall hopefully make a return visit in the future...

Always a fantastic breakfast. I highly recommend both staying here and popping in for the food when you're in the area. Been here multiple times and the food for dinner ir breakfast is always amazing as well as the exceptional service.

Lovely Christmas dinner and great service

Food was awesome! Two of our group said it was the 'best pork belly they have ever had'. The resraunt is nice and clean with space to move round the table, not all crammed in like some places. If I was to be really picky, I would have like some more bread/toast with the starter as the pate was incredible! We were asked to arrive on time and not before due to space limitations and then the door closes at 11, so must be out before then which didn't give us much time after the meal to digest and talk but we did get a coffee in before leaving so I'll keep it at 5 stars.

Big prices, little satisfaction. My partner and I came here for a Sunday roast with high hopes after reading the reviews. However, we were disappointed by the food. Chicken was okay, lamb was okay but tiny portion for such a high price (£17.50) for 2 slices of lamb. Carrots were soggy, potato’s hard, cauliflower cheese average. Gravy was nice, Yorky’s were nice, kale and cabbage was nice. Place lacked character, though it was clean. Price point way too high for what was given. Would not return any time soon and will look closer into town for a roast in future.

Went for breakfast. Staff were lovely and pub was warm & welcoming with a real fire going. Breakfast was all freshly cooked, arrived at the table at a decent pace and everything was clearly quality produce. Everything was very tasty, cooked very well and a good sized portion. Prices reflected the quality of produce fairly. The only reason it's not the full five stars is because the carpets looked like they hadn't yet been hoovered and there were a lot of bits under our table and in other areas. Would definitely visit again.

Part of the Sodbury steakhouse the landlady has no perception of customer service. From her she PX HER CAR to her partner begging to receive back as his words she is vicious to booking on the phone recently which I will come to shortly starting with last year being told not to go near the fireplace like I was a three year old child Health and safety. I understand completely being a manager of a garage but this woman has some serious personality issues which unfortunately reflects upon the customers. Many people have said they are very uncomfortable. Wouldn’t they go there to the point I had to call the police for her abusive ways Be very wary if you just ring to book a table that will be your first issue forget even turning up highly recommend the building. the staff are fantastic run by a totalitarian state From which ego is clearly the main issue for this lady Disgusting customer service, derogatory language, vile mouth God save her partner has proved and staff of which work under her. Let’s hope she retires soon if she doesn’t get arrested.

Stayed for one night to go to a local party. As a disabled traveler the stairs to the rooms was a bit daunting but a very friendly young member of staff carried my bag up for me and the stairs were well lit with plenty of grab rails. The room was lovely,very clean and well decorated and the bed was very comfortable. I slept like a log. The next morning i had a lovely full english breakfast and the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Bell.

went in here the other night for a meal . ABSOLUTE CRAP ! the cook in the kitchen and it is a cook NOT A CHEF hasnt got a clue !! the morroccan lamb bore no resembalence to any morrocan lamb ive ever had, where was the couscous & the minted yoghurt, so bad it would have been better with a red wine & mint jus on it to rescue it !!, the pea risotto was green but thats about it. GLOOPY AND LOOKED LIKE A HEAP OF MUSHY PEAS !! TO THE COOK if you cant execute the dish DONT COOK IT !!! dont waste your money in here folks THE FOOD IS AWFULL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We ate here many years ago and didn’t have the best experience so haven’t been for a long time. We returned recently for dinner, arriving one evening without a booking. We were greeted by Marianne who could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. She found us a table and we were looked after all evening by her and George. I can’t praise them enough for their excellent service and lovely upbeat manner, it was a real pleasure. They were working the whole restaurant on their own too and managed it with calm and efficiency. The food was superb. We had the Pork Belly bites and Crispy King Prawn Taquitos to start..….both absolutely gorgeous dishes and we would have them again. For mains we had the burger which was great and I had probably the nicest Sea bass I’ve ever eaten. It was served with a delicious carrot mousse and other veg but cooked to perfection and so tasty. We skipped desserts as we were full but will make sure we have those next time. We were so impressed we’ve booked breakfast for a birthday treat next week as we hear their breakfasts are pretty special too. Thank you to the team at The Bell for delivering exceptional service on all levels.

Visited here for the first time with Friends, Food and Service were very good . The prices were good also with courses at about £18 for Main course. Sea Bass was good , automatic service charge was added but you can remove if you wish. Nice country Pub Feel and is obviously popular in the area
