Fabulous every time! Popped in for a lunchtime bite and as previously, we were met with a warm welcome from the staff. We just wanted mains and a drink and were not disappointed. My other half had his favourite of ham, egg & the best chips ever! and I had the creamy portobello mushroom linguine, deeelicious!! Quality ingredients cooked to perfection (the Bell pub grub is consistently excellent).

The service was great but a little slow, they were very accommodating to our wishes, but forgot a couple of things. The Sunday roast was a disappointment, it was lukewarm and a bit bland, not well cooked at all, definitely felt like the last few potatoes that had been sat out all day… overall nice people and lovely area but poor food.

An early dinner with family to celebrate my birthday (76) table booked for 6 pm 7 adults and four children 3 to 10:....but miffed that six items on menu not available but order others .....really poor service ordered drinks and within 3 mins had fruit juice spilt on my top and trouser first on right side then when next drink arrived on the left ..offered tissues ! As if ok ..it took 3/4 hour to get starters ( only four ordered);then a wait of over an hour for main courses and they forgot the 3 yr olds meal altogether so had to cook from scratch ..his meal arrived when all had finished , was so late(; 8.35 )that we boxed it to take away . Finally got the bill 8.50 pm ...when I paid the bill I was asked if I wished to include a tip , I declined money but offered advise ...staff training required ( lent across my husband whilst he was eating to light a candle , use a tray to bring drinks , and speed up the service ....second time in 10 days the service was very slow ( prev lunch) but food is good ,overall though but embarrassing with such a long wait especially with children whose meals arrived last and with one child's missing .

Our son's birthday was on 1st July. We ordered the food but unfortunately the chef forgot about us and this meant that one meal was freshly done the others were held up already prepared in the kitchen. Our son's meal was almost cold and this spoiled the enjoyment of the whole experience. We weren't charged for it all but sadly it soured the event

1st visit to The Bell meeting a friend for dinner and we weren't disappointed. The Bell is a lovely country pub with a beautiful garden & views but it does get busy and parking is limited so be prepared that you might need to park elsewhere and have a short walk to the pub on roads with no pavements. The menu offers a great selection plus they have a specials board, on offer is everything from pub classics to fish & vegetarian options, they also offer gluten free. I opted for the red snapper main and my friend has the monkfish, both were delicious, presented well and cooked fresh, this does mean a wait for food (approx 30 mins) but it was well worth it. This pub is dog friendly which for us dog lovers was not a problem but for those not a fan of dogs, be warned lots of people do bring their dogs to this pub and some are off lead. Service was good and we will definitely be returning, especially when the weather improves and we can sit outside.

I went here for the first time with a friend on a Saturday afternoon. It’s a lovely pub with a great outdoor area. After checking online that they had gluten free options we decided to have a late lunch. There were lots of GF choices clearly marked on the menu as well as dairy free and vegan. We both decided on the burger and dirty fries. When they arrived I was so pleased to see that our meals looked the same! So often the GF options are smaller and more expensive but not here. Our food was absolutely delicious and unfortunately we couldn’t finish it all. I’d highly recommend a visit as you won’t be disappointed. I’ll definitely be back!

No offer of compensation on final bill. £18 for cabbage is not acceptable. Waitress knew we were not happy but nothing was done. We will not be going back.

I met a date here and we enjoyed a beautiful and traditional Sunday roast but it came at a price - the main courses were £23 each. However, the atmosphere in the place was lovely, the service was prompt & efficient and drinks were presented nicely. A word of warning: this place is VERY popular and the available parking is inadequate - so get there early or expect to wait or park out on the busy road.

Fab service, lovely setting and a very friendly staff - we will certainly be back. The main course for lunch was terrific; you can judge a pub Sunday lunch not just by the quality (good) and quantity (generous) of the beef but by the veg; there was a greater variety than I'd have expected and it all tasted pretty fresh. The reason it doesn't get five stars - and it's close - is that the starters and some of the desserts appeared to be a bit fancier than they needed to be. My wife opted for the brownie; it wasn't actually brown, the sponge (not sure what that's doing in a brownie) wasn't all that tasty and the dessert overall was a bit of a misfire. We'd dropped in the previous day to check the place out and had one of their lamb kofta scotch eggs as a snack since we were starving; the kofta bit was cooked well, the egg inside was exactly right but the two didn't really go together. Stick with the basic, traditional stuff and you'll find this place is magnificent and the setting is a glorious place to go for a walk afterwards. It's probably worth avoiding the twiddly bits - choose so the chef can play to their strengths and you'll be delighted.

Sunday lunch. Four “seniors”. We were made very welcome by enthusiastic staff. Last visit was in the days of Sir Geoffrey Howe (cabinet minister) when we lived nearby. The place is still atmospheric although some seats/tables are small. The whole lunch was seamless. We had four ‘roasts’. High quality and copious. Lovely fresh vegetables. My wife, French, declared it to be the best roast ever. And, they’re all restaurant critics! We were impressed. Terry Buckland.

What a letdown! So where to start with this? Arrived at 1.30 so we sat and chose our order only to be told that several items were not available today. But no one told us. We then spent another 20 minutes choosing from the reduced list - 2 of us ordered home made pie - the waiter came back 10 minutes later to tell us only one pie was available so we had to choose something else. A small orange juice and lemonade was ordered with no ice but a pint turned up WITH ice! The home made pie was ordered with chips in lieu of mash so guess what turned up - yes, mash and no chips. So the one with the pie had to wait ten minutes while the chips were cooked. The main waitress did apologise and knocked the drinks off the bill but by then we were amazed by the level of incompetence especially as the restaurant wasn`t exactly busy. The quality of the food was generally poor, and service, if you can call it that, was so slow that it was an hour from when we first arrived til the starters appeared on our table. It is difficult to understand how so many mistakes could be made for a table of four. Surely you tell customers that some items are not available that day when they arrive? We won`t be back again unless something drastically changes.

Great establishment, charming table staff (nothing to much) and behind the scenes in the kitchen who provided my wife and I, three exceptional courses. As social secretary of the Veritable Vulgar Victuallers Society it is rare that we come across such a delight as The Bell in Outwood whilst traipsing through the glorious Home Counties countryside in our mucky Wellington boots with a multitude of dogs in tow, that is quite so welcoming. We had a simply glorious time and were regaled with some delightful stories by the locals and landlords as we imbibed the exquisitely kept ales. We were unable to stay too late to enjoy some bawdy folk singing as Sir Cecil Smallbottom, the designated driver, had an evening appointment with his gout specialist. The only blot of this otherwise tremendous visit was a rather vacuous, pernicious whining from a nearby table who appeared determined to extract a free dinner and seemed rather more suited to Wetherspoons than a glorious country pub. Hats off to the staff who dealt with it with aplomb. We shall definitely be scheduling a return visit!

Booked this for a family birthday and was hoping we'd all have a good, fun evening.. Table was booked well in advance by phone and I ensured the pub read back to me my booking and time (5pm) so to be sure there could be no mix up. Unfortunately, they still got it wrong because when we arrived for our 5pm booking, they told us our booking was for 2pm. OK, so accidents happen and the the staff were absolutely brilliant in squeezing us in on a table for 8 in what seemed to be a very busy pub. However, we were sat on a squeezed walkway which wasn't great so had passing traffic throughout the whole evening. But more irritating and quite unpleasant was that we were sat adjacent to the bar where three local older men were sitting. They were loud anyway, but got even louder with talk constant vulgar obscenities as there as the evening progressed. This was particularly unpleasant for us and became most over-bearing that we decided to cut out evening short and not stay for dessert. I should also add, the one of these extremely obnoxious mean vaped throughout the whole time we were there - I thought this was not legal, yet he was allowed to get away with it. All that said, the serving staff were all lovely and friendly and very attentive. They did everything they could to address the few blips were experienced which we were grateful for. However, it's a shame, but I doubt we would return again because the three guys at the bar just seemed to take over with their loudness and vulgarity, and make the atmosphere extremely unpleasant. The vaping was just a step too far.

The special was Wiener Schnitzel served, in good English style, with chips, mushroom and tomato. Still, two of us found it tasty and different. The main menu had a fairly good range, but as with other Fuller’s pub-restaurants it is not designed for carnivores - a chicken breast was the only proper meat offering, unless you include a burger or pie of the day.I treated myself to a dessert, but the crumble had a strange dusty texture, not cooked through, and the fruit was sour. A nice jug of custard accompanied. The tiramisu was very, very sweet and did not seem to have any marsala or other alcohol. This is not a place for wine lovers. The waitress (who was very good) reeled off the names of the 4 red wines on offer, but the pinot noir did not taste familiar. The Chilean sauvignon blanc was apparently not much to write home about.OK, this was pub grub, which is what Fuller’s presumably set out to offer. Avoid foreign-named dishes, and drink beer rather than wine, and you’ll have a good meal in a very friendly place.

Three of us attended this Inn for lunch, it was a Wednesday, not very busy and we sat outside to start with but it then got windy so we retreated to inside. There is plenty of room inside and out. The staff were helpful and the whole place is arranged for the current virus regulations. They even disposed of a Hornet that came in the restaurant to join us. Not really a children's place inside but very ok for kids outside. The service was prompt but not too pushy, and the food was good, we had a Mrs Owtons burger, Chicken breast, chorizo croquette, and Grilled halloumi Burger. All were fine, cooked freshly and presented fine, but not over fussy. The drinks selection was good and the place has a good pub feel. The car park is a good size. Would go again. Prices are upper mid range for food and drinks, for three drinks, ( Beer ) and three mains it was just over £60.

Haven’t been here for a few years. However, we were in the area and trying to find somewhere to shelter away from the wind and rain. Popped in on the off chance they had a table and they had one left (the rest all booked out!). I had lamb roast, wife vegetarian, two kids meals. The food was fantastic - decent portions and very very tasty. We left totally stuffed! Love the ‘local’ atmosphere too, with local friends popping in with their dogs, having a drink and chat, then heading on. Staff were attentive and service was great. Nothing too much trouble for them. We will be back, and soon, I hope! Thanks for a great meal

Our family of six enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Bell yesterday. Depsite blowing an absolute hooley outside, we ventured out to meet with family and enjoyed a great lunch. The roast lamb was delicious with generous portions as was the vegetarian roast. The burgers were deemed 'ok' from the teenagers - praise indeed. The staff were very friendly, the atmosphere warm and cosy. Would visit again for sure.

Such a shame. I had been there once before, for lunch and had a reasonable sandwich but was extremely disappointed with their Sunday roast. We ordered 2 roast lambs and a childrens chicken dinner. Thank goodness it was me eating the kids roast as they wouldn't have been able to chew the chicken that was dry and tough. Although the lamb was tender the amount of veg with the meat was pitiful. I have had a much better lamb shank roast for the same money elsewhere, so will be going there in future. Also ordered were fish fingers for a 3 year old, these came up as goujons. They were greasy and still had the skin of the fish on. Not at all palatable for a 3 year old. Such a waste of money. On the up the staff were pleasant.

We visited this restaurant last sunday was highly disappointed not only with the food but with the staff too! I ordered a prawn cocktail starter was as bland as anything the sauce had no taste to it was really strange! So I thought ok ill just wait for the roast dinner , I ordered a roast lamb which really was just awful the lamb had no taste, unseasoned! the roast potatoes were definitely cooked from frozen absolutely disgusting! Hardly any veg just a few soggy carrots. I didnt want to complain as i had a guest woth me who we had invited! We were then just left waiting for a waitress to attend to our table to remove the plates with no luck! we waited around 20mins only for my partner to go to the bar and ask for our bill , can i just say the restaurant had quietened down by this point so there is no excuse to be just left in the corner! Will not visit this place again!

Went for a great birthday lunch with the family. Menu satisfied our various tastes - even though no pies on the day we went. Very tolerant of our one year old. All in all we had a lovely time

Ended up here for a diner with chaps after suggestion from local friend of ours. First impression just after we stepped in was very positive when it comes to an ambience and atmosphere of this place.Had few good dishes washed down with dozen or so pints. Food was very good indeed. We tried few desserts, very tasty as well. Overall, I could gladly recommend this pub for a quality night out, yet since it kind of out of the way, it takes some effort to reach it, but it’s worth it for sure.

Pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. The food was OK but was disappointed in the portion size, given the prices of the dishes. The chicken Kiev was not really up to scratch. I was expecting more from this pub...

After a 4 hour walk on a hot day we were craving a roast and a pint and we were not disappointed! All three roasts (chicken, beef and lamb) were delicious. Good sized portions, tasty veg, cracking Yorkshire pud. Service was quick and with a smile. Lovely coffee to finish. Was the ideal way to end our Sunday.

This pub will always have a special place in my heart. First date venue for me and my boyfriend 9 years ago. We have re-visited numerous times since, however our latest time, just a quick Saturday lunch was disappointing. Staff that found it difficult to communicate and food was average at best.

We booked a table for five at lunchtime in the bar. On arrival we realised that we had made a mistake as it wasn’t ideal for the two elderly people in our party. Costel our waiter was amazing, he quickly realised the situation and found us a perfect table in the Restaurant. The food was excellent, ample portions and great value for money.

This is not the first time we have visited the Bell and the food was excellent. It was nice to sit outside to enjoy our meal until the smokers lit up. It was so bad with the smoke coming across to our table that we felt we had to move further down the garden .Also another table moved and also complained to us about the smoke. Please could the bell make a designated corner for smokers so we can all enjoy our meals. Further down the garden and not near the tables under cover. Sorry to mention the smoke but it did spoil our meal a bit.

Three of us eat lunch at the Bell on Monday and had a thoroughly pleasant experience. The food was delicious and didn't arrive too quickly (always suspicious when it does). The beer (London Pride) was in perfect condition and fresh. The staff were genuinely welcoming and were extremely pleasant and attentive. Thank you all!

What a gorgeous pub this is. It would appear to be centuries old and furnished comfortably and in keeping with the historic building. It could be a set for a film of a typical english pub. We sat by a magnificent fireplace and had a delicious meal and just hung around enjoying the ambience. There is a garden with tables, though the kitchen extractor was a bit loud, our only criticism, and the pub is also set up as a restaurant. With plenty of parking it's somewhere we'd gladly return. It's a fuller's pub and service and food was of a very good standard; our lunch cost £54 and we had as main courses, fish and chips, served with mushy peas, and a large and tasty bowl of vegetarian pasta. we followed this with sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. We had 3 alcoholic drinks and a coke. Everything was done with style, pretty flowers on the windowsills and tables, attractive glasses for our drinks. Highly recommended.

Excellent service, the roast chicken was very tasty, beef was a bit tasteless but the tiny bit of cauliflower cheese was divine. One complaint was there was no hook in the ladies toilet for your handbag.

The food was delightful, I had the Thai Beef Salad and it has definitely been added to my favourites. The staff were super friendly and willing to do anything we asked, the pub was busy due to being a bank holiday Monday but this didn’t reflect in the service.

Returned to this lovely garden centre and was warmly welcomed into the restaurant,it was early lunchtime but there was a good buzz of others enjoying their food. There is a seasonal menu and wanting a fairly light lunch we opted for the mezze platter to share. The service is first class our waitress very friendly,we ordered a beer and glass of red wine to accompany the dish. The drinks and food arrived speedily and it was delicious, colourful, and beautifully presented. Our waitress returned to check everything was ok which of course it was.We had coffee afterwards then left.We were acknowledged by all the staff working there who cheerfully said Goodbye. This is a venue not to be missed,I noticed the lunch menu, they also do breakfast and whilst there at the weekend they were serving a beautiful afternoon tea to a group of ladies…I look forward to a return visit soon…Yours Stuart…

Visited for the first time to see a play in the upstairs room. We couldn’t have had a better night. The welcome from the moment we walked was great. The play was brilliant and the publican even gave us a lift to the station so that we made our train We would definitely make the effort to go again , if we heard about more plays or events and more often if we lived nearer
