I rang ahead to book a table for 6pm and was really impressed with how polite and helpful the lady who took the booking was. We arrived early and were welcomed then had drinks in the comfy seating area first to relax. When we were ready we were shown to our table and nothing was too much trouble for Hannah and Molly our very professional waitresses. We ordered an additional drink and a large container of iced water was offered without us having to ask. Our two-course meal was absolutely outstanding and couldn't have been better. My partner's Grilled Salmon Florentine with poached egg, roast new potatoes and hollandaise sauce was spot-on; the chefs had cooked everything including the egg just right. My Indulgent Beef Burger, fries and onion rings were very tasty and also expertly cooked. Service was attentive but not intrusive and we were asked whether everything was fine at just the right time after we'd started eating. Our Bakewell tart & custard mini-deserts with hot cups of tea topped the meal off exactly right. Even though custard wasn't listed on the menu with them, Hannah asked the chefs especially for us. We completed our visit sitting on the comfy seats by the flaming log fire afterwards which Hannah put an extra log on to keep us warm. We didn't want to go home and could have stayed there all night! All in all, an absolutely fantastic meal with great service cooked to perfection and extremely good value too. Well done to Hannah, Molly, the chefs and everyone else at The Bell. We'll most definitely be back as soon as we can. Thank you!

Called in for some lunch with my daughter. We were greeted by friendly Lucy E who sorted our drinks served very nicely with ice and lemon and then showed us to our very pleasant table. The roaring open fire and beautiful Christmas Tree, definitely made the atmosphere/ambience very cosy and relaxing. Lucy made some recommendations from the menu and left us to choose. We both chose chicken in the basket one with Kiev sauce and one with gravy, both were very tasty and served with a dressed side salad. The food was reasonably priced and the portion was excellent. We were asked if everything was okay and if we had everything we needed. I would like to thank Lucy E for making a very ordinary lunchtime into one we both thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely do again.

Excellent! Great food. Great service. Good pub ales. Fall off the bone lamb shank. Spicy curry. And the mini desert was the perfect size

Think I already reviewed on the hotel site but never mind. This is the best pub/ diner I have ever been to. Full stop!! Great food, modest prices , lovely surroundings and friendly, good humoured staff. Dog-friendly too. What's not to love? You even get your car park fee knocked off your bill. Can't see how they could improve things really, I just hope they can keep it at this standard.

Even though I had an issue with my food (supplier issue not chef on site) the staff were quick to react and offer me alternatives and a refund. Staff were friendly and attentive, particularly Debbie and the gent behind the bar. We would come again.

Poor poor service. The manager I think had a bad attitude as I asked why they had stopped food at 7?? Apparently for a staff meeting then his little mate started to pipe up asking what the problem is. Not what you need after travelling and a days work. I felt threatened as they ganged up. Similar thing happened the week before when I sat at a table in an empty restaurant to be told aggressively that I needed to be sat. There was no indication of this anywhere. The food was ok and the building is lovely. A massive pity. Use the Greyhound down the road very accommodating. I travel a lot and use Chef & Brewers regularly being a Premier Inn account holder - I will not step in one of them again!
