The Beeches Pub in Tonbridge and Malling

Disappointing. Starters were ok. Steak was full of sinew and tough. Chicken ok but with heavy over-rich sauce. Pork Loin almost inedible. Service was slow, one waitress didn’t know what black pepper was! We had to remind them about our second drinks order. At the end we were charged for 2 extras at £1 each. We didn’t query it but have no idea why we were charged. We will definitely not be returning.

Excellent value, brilliant food, lovely decor, Brooke was very tentative and nothing was too much to ask, the deserts were very nice too

We sat in the Tipi & it was a wonderful experience and atmosphere. Heated, so not cold at all, actually very cosy (sat in T shirt). Decorated with lovely autumnal bits & bobs- can imagine it would be lovely at Christmas! Food was very good - delicious and generous portions. Opted for the Pork & Gammon roast & was very happy! Staff very friendly and accommodating, but not overbearing. Works definitely recommend- in fact looking to bring my whole family very soon!

After dropping our horse off, we needed a bite to eat. We were told about a small pub up the road from the vets. We decided to give it a try and were amazed with the menu, the quality of the food and the excellent service we had. So after another visit week later we returned….. We ordered something different which was just as good !!! The staff were so friendly and helpful. First class thank you!

We have been to the Moody Mare a number of times and it is always busy, with good reason. On this occasion, we have good and not-so-good things to share. Let's start with the good. The welcome was very warm and the staff were very attentive. The roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings were to die for! The toffee pudding was very sweet and very yummy. The not-so-good things? Whilst I love to see young people starting out on their way in life, I'm not sure it is such a good idea to have so many being 'trained-on-the-job' at the same time. I may have picked this up wrong, but it seemed like more than one or two were working their first shift. We all have to start somewhere at sometime I suppose, but I felt we were being used as a part of an in-house training exercise. Both my wife and I ordered the gammon and pork. I would normally go for beef, but a couple of weeks ago I had an exceptional pork belly with crackling at a restaurant in Norfolk, so I asked whether the pork came with crackling. I was told it did, but no crackling arrived. Nor was there an explanation when the meal arrived. I queried this and was simply told "The kitchen says there is no crackling, sorry". It may seem a small gripe, but to be totally honest, in my view, roast pork should NEVER be served in a restaurant WITHOUT crackling!!! Although my wife also ordered the gammon and pork, it came without any pork at all! Unforgivable really, but she likes gammon and did not want to complain. I would have! Lastly, we were overcharged! The bill came to just over £60 but my card was debited £66. When I queried this I was firstly told that it was correct and the difference was the service charge. When I pointed out that the service charge appeared on the bill BEFORE the total, it was referred back to a manager. I then had to total up the cost for the food to show that this came to around £54.00. She then refunded the overcharge. As we were leaving, not of the members of staff we passed thanked us for coming or said "goodbye". That definitely needs to go in the training manual! Sadly in life, it's these things that we remember. I'm sure we will return to the Moody Mare one day, but for sure we will be a lot less tolerant of shortcomings than we would otherwise be!

Lovely atmosphere, excellent value menu choices and something for everyone. Staff welcoming and attentive but don’t rush you. Lovely relaxed late lunch - thank you!

This was the second time we have visited the Moody Mare in Seven Mile Lane. Outstanding food, outstanding service. It is far more than a gastro pub. Don't bother with other pubs in Kent - this is the best. Music just right level not too loud like many places; you aren't constantly interrupted to ask how the food is; very comfortable seating areas (without cold drafts and air conditioning). Very generous portions and reasonable prices. Most pubs in the area over priced, poor quality food, loud music and poor service, but this pub and restaurant is the best.

Food took far to long to come out around hour and a half, when it did come out we had asked for a children burger with no cheese and it come out with cheese so then had to send it back and waited even longer. Other burger was stone cold when arrived and was so dry to eat, wouldn't come back, ruined the experience

Saturday lunch fantastic service and food. Sat in the tipi area, loved it. Staff excellent, very accommodating over a mix up with order and deducted difference from main bill, couldn't ask or expect more. Food first class. We will be back, with a larger family group.

Excellent Father's Day Sunday Lunch for 5 today. I asked for a quieter area because of asd child - was perfect. The staff were lovely - great find & will definitely be going back.

Came in for dinner, with friends excellent service from Jen and Joe and the chef Rona. Absolutely brilliant food, that even the bits we had left over they let us take home... Will definitely be back again for desserts

Visited for lunch on a Thursday, not too packed but quite a few in…always a good sign. Lots of parking and easily accessible of 7 mile lane. The menu is very good and caters for all, i went for the ribs, everybody else had a great meal. The staff were cracking, the lady in glasses with blonde hair was especially helpful and lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and the food was fabulous, thank you, see you soon.

Been past this pub many times over the years and always looks busy which is a good sign. Went with friends few weeks ago and could not fault it from start to finish. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout, the menu was varied and offered great selection of dishes including individual beef wellington's which 2 of our party order and cleared their plates clean. Pub has singer come in and looked good entertainment (we left before it started). Will definately be going back again and highly recommend.

After reading a very positive review in the kent messenger, my partner and I decided to try the Moody Mare for ourselves. I have to say, I can not fault the experience! Many venues have their food bought in pre-prepared elsewhere, and it is lovely to see this restaurant using local suppliers. The ambience is quaint and cosy, the food beautifully presented, the staff warm and welcoming. My husband had a steak ( medium), and I chose the beef and horseradish mash, which I can attest was superb! We actually spoke to Rona, the head chef (very lovely lady) just to tell her how much we enjoyed our meal. I can thoroughly recommend this place, mains under £20, decent size portion, nice place, what's not to love?!!

This restaurant is great for a casual night out or a special celebration. It’s has a warm and friendly atmosphere and the food is simply delicious. All freshly cooked to order and nicely presented. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again.

A beautiful Christmas/Sunday lunch as a table of 7, 1 with dietary requirements. The service was fantastic, ensuring the dietary requirements were met, and the menu gave options for us all. The roast potatoes on my roast dinner were amazing!

Rancid pork. Never eat here. We complained and they took it of the bill, but were rude. Also it took them so long to sort out everyone else had almost finished their meal.

Lovely location for this pub. We were celebrating a birthday. The whole experience was average. It was a busy Sunday lunch but the service was ok as was the quality of the food.

Venue is welcoming and presents a cosy atmosphere. Tables fairly close to one another. Staff attentive and efficient. Food is overpriced for what is served and underwhelming. Starters, mains, couple of pre dinner drinks, glass of white and red each (two of us) and coffee came to £124. The wine chosen was by the glass (only serve 250ml) and the cheapest. Not worth £60 per head.

Lovely tipi setting for a valentines meal well presented and warm and cosy, the only small issues was the meat was a bit fatty and the onion rings were over cooked and i feel a little overpriced which we didn't know until we paid as no prices on menu, waiting staff were very tentative and welcoming

By far the thinnest piece of pork belly that I've ever eaten, 1/4" at one end, 1/2" at the other, suffice to say we won't be going back in a hurry!
