Best Sunday Roast ever. The venue is pleasant. The staff are friendly and obliging. I highly recommend this pub for Sunday lunch.

Wow I don't even know where to start. So I originally booked this back in October 2023 for the Festive Menu, we were quoted £19.49 for three courses and £16.49 for two courses. I received two emails one to pay deposit and one for pre-orders I gathered the pre orders from the family and placed the pre orders Nov 25, 2023 along with paying the deposit the same day. We arrived today and all our meals are incorrect three of the table added the extra steak to the pre order and only two of them arrived and they arrived late after we discussed this with them. The kids meal even though specifically written on the bottom "any additional information" I added can you please ensure the child's burger is completely plain - comes out not only last once pretty much all of us have finished but with cheese. Out of the three steaks that were ordered one arrived late and it arrived Rare though we requested it to be Medium. We ordered deserts all of which were on the pre-orders list both ours and the pubs and they explained that three were missing again the childs brownie. We didn't have one check back even though the steaks arrived late, surely check backs are crucial in hospitality. Then here comes the rest of the disaster. We get to the till and low and behold the staff can't locate the deposit. The deposit was paid on the date the pre orders were sent in. One team member advised that No deposit was ever made even though it was paid. I was then made to feel like I was lying. I had to show not only the emails but a bank statement confirming. Made to feel like I was an idiot in front of my family. After the team member decided to sort out the deposit after speaking to IT on my bank statement. I asked if we could have anything back from the awful meals and mistakes that were made the team member spoke to the GM who advised no this isn't something that can happen. Hmmmm really surely just charging us for two courses rather than three would've sufficed. We then get to finally paying the awful bill and though all our receipts tally up to the total of the main receipt the till stated we were £21 down. Reluctantly we had to pay it. Then all of a sudden I checked the website and since the original booking the festive menu had changed pricing and they had the audacity to charge us the new price and now what we were originally quoted. Again, back to the till to ask for a refund for the difference as we should be paid the price originally quoted. The team member yet again went to the GM and we were told she won't honour the difference. However the team member said she will as they have to honour what is quoted. Apparently I'll be getting a call tomorrow from the GM. Would I recommend - NO Would I go back - YES for Drinks, NO for food. What should've been a nice Xmas meal with family has turned out an absolute shocking service.

Newly opened after Referb, good before now brilliant. Great staff and service, food fantastic and pleasant on the eye although. Good job done on the upgrade

I go here to eat their good-value Sunday roast. They don't do any other food. The only option is their excellent Sunday roast, whch is only available on Sunday between 12 and 3 or until they run out of food. It's very nice and I usually have lamb. You get loads of veg., a Yorkshire pud and lashings of savoury gravy. I like it, although I usually can't eat it all up as I have a small tummy. Usually my friends finish mine off. We drink their "warm cider" which isn't what you'd maybe expect ie not mulled but simply Thatcher's traditional which has not been through the chiller. The land lady and the kitchen staff, Will are very kindly and the pub is a haven for the older regular, like me and my mates who are quite old. Oh Dear. This place is what you would call traditional, or old-fashioned and yet, the roast is a firm favourite with me and my chums. To be perfectly honest, I don't want anybody else to go there in case a) they sit where I usually sit and b) they eat up the food I wanted. To get round this I usually turn up soon after midday, which fortunately is too early for most other punters... some STUDENTS came in the other day, but the land lady kindly and patiently explained how it is and soon afterward, they went away - I think maybe they were a little bit scared of the cider - who knows?!
