Came in yesterday on Saturday 18th of August to watch the match and have some food. This is not the first time that the kitchen has not been open. It’s been almost 3 or four other occasions this year and it is embarrassing.! There are customers who wanted to have food, and when they have two bar staff and the manager, it was not very busy and none of them can multitask or been trained to work in the kitchen, really, this is 2024! What a joke having paid staff stand around the bar for 3/4 of their shift with not a lot of work to do, and they ain’t been trained to multitask in the kitchen. We all cook food at home, so come on manager or owner whoever you are , get the place the kitchen run properly!!!!!

Andrew is an absolute gem! They are incredibly kind, caring, and always go above and beyond to make sure I feel valued as a customer. Their lovely personality shines through in every interaction, making each experience with them a true pleasure. I can't recommend Andrew highly enough for their exceptional service and genuine warmth. Five stars all the way!

Very rude staff, they don't seem to care that the pub isn't very busy and in the struggling times, that they should treat customer with care, I visited here many years ago with a female manager who was lovely, however the new manager was extremely rude and had a very self righious attitude. Didn't have food as I felt a burden to be there and to be served a drink.left straight away!

Walked in service was good. Grabbed a drink sat at the table and though food sounds like a good idea... wot a a joke.... my friend ordered steak sandwich I ordered chicken bacon blt. And I ordered chips with mine for an extra £2 And my other friend ordered chibatta garlic bread. Was waiting about 20ims and guy came to use and said they had no rocket for the sandwiches we said no problem. When sandwiches came out there was hardly any filling 5 bits of steak bread was crumbling chicken sandwich which less than a quarter of chicken breast and the rind of slice of bacon on it 1 small lettuce leaf. And maybe 10 chips. with old crumbling bread on it no butter just mayo on the bread and the steak sandwich was just mustard. 1 lettuce leaf No butter no crispy onions ... and both came with like a side garnish of old lettuce leaf old spring onion and melon? With like a vinagerett on it😫and my other friend just had cheap frozen garlic bread and some old sharp cheese which was probly from the back of the fridge. Not chibatta. Don't normally leave reviews like this but that was a driscrace from a busy restaurant/pub and the staff never even asked if food was ok or collected plates from our table. You don't mind if food was cheap but we all spent a minimum £8 each with drinks. To top it all there was a guy at the bar when we was ordering and he said great food from here lads wot a let down 😆😆😆😆 disappointed.. to say the least....👎🏼

This is clearly a pub for locals only. Upon entering I went to the bar and waited for a lady ahead of me to be served. She then joined her friends at the bar who already had a drink. The barman is standing right in front of me and affecting a sort of looking around asked loudly “who’s next?” There was nobody else but me, standing 3 feet right in front of him. I moved closer and asked for a drink. I think he’s about to start making my drink when a voice behind loudly asks for a plaster. I turn to see a man with a large balloon with a hole in it asking for a plaster. He’s placed his finger over the hole. The barman instantly and without a word scurries off to attend to this ‘emergency’ that would have taken who knows how long. I didn’t wait around to see how a sticking plaster applied by this incompetent was going to resolve that situation. I walked out to find a decent pub elsewhere. That quest also failed but will be another review…

Very nice and clean pub. The breakfast is great, generous portion, fresh, delicious. The manager is a lovely and friendly. Very reasonably priced.

Our first visit at lunchtime. Only a few customers. We ordered a portion of chips and two toasted sandwiches. Surroundings unkempt, upholstery filthy. After 3/4s of an hour and no food forthcoming we asked for a refund which was given. The whole place needs a revamp.

Lovely pub the staff are so welcoming ,friendly attentive couldn’t fault the service we always eat here when we visit kenilworth ,foods perfect well presented and is open from 9.30 am the site says different but they are open usual hours ,so visit you won’t regret it.

Brilliant breakfast and great, polite staff. Considering how expensive most places in Kenilworth tend to be, this is a welcome and refreshing venue.

Came here for a quick bite to eat, had a burger and fries which was quite tasty and not expensive. It's a decent pub and part of a chain which do good food. The beer is decent with a good selection of ales and lagers, plus lots of spirits. Bar staff are friendly and the whole place is worth a visit. Happy to come back again and try more from the menu.

Just popped in for a coffee with family members. Becky was very welcoming and made us a delicious coffee each and decorated the flat white with an artistic leaf motif. Thank you, Becky.

Over several visits since Will has been running the pub I have found the staff to be happier, more chatty, and welcoming. The food has always been as good as can be, given what is available on the menu. Some of the new items have been very well presented and enjoyed. The newly refurbished pool table is great to play on and the ability to have different sports/matches on different screens has always been a good reason to watch any sport at "the bear". I'm looking forward to watching the six nations rugby there.

Been coming here for over 20 years. Friendly bar staff and friendly customers. Food is pretty good and as a beer drinker it's great to be able to try new stuff as they rotate their beers every few weeks.

If you are looking to watch sport then there is no place better. Really good atmosphere and plenty of tellies to watch. Highly recommend.

Ordered drinks and food waiting more then 30 minutes for the food then asked at the bar about my food order he went to see about my order then as I was at the bar the guy came out with the food to my table he then gave us free drinks on the house for my long wait for the food which was good of him but the fish and chips was well over cooked the fish batter was uneatable and the sheff needs a new carear as his cooking was terrible could not bother to complain as we got free drinks will never go there again food not fit for a dog to eat

We had an excellent lunch on Christmas day. The steak in the duo of beef was so tasty as was the turkey and the vegetables. Well done to the staff as everything was well organised and a great atmosphere.

Well I can honestly say what a difference to the cleanliness of the pub. The toilets used to be really disgusting but I used them and they were sparkly clean. The whole pub looks and smells so much better. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be visiting again.

Our favourite pub in Kenilworth Always made very welcome by Will,Pat and Andrew Dean and Alix... We always look forward to coming in and has a very relaxed and cosy ambience. Rock and Roll Bingo is a must try.

The staff were really friendly and the pub was nice and welcoming. The food was ok but the cod from the cod and chips was over cooked and was really thin.

Came in for a bite to eat. Ordered the Mac and cheese with cheesy garlic bread. Andrew was great at putting the order in quickly, the service was prompt thanks to Patryck and the food was delicious!

when I went to the bear and ragged staff with some friends, staff were lovely and polite and chatted to us enthusiastically. Food and drinks were very good and one of the staff members ( Sam) was polite and friendly with us and was happy to answer questions and help us have the most enjoyable experience there

Went in for food and promptly left without ordering. Place is filthy.

Dire. Loud music. Inattentive staff. Poor choice of Ales. 35 min wait for food Fri eve, apparently the cook 'had to go out for some ingredients'. Sat eve although food supposed to be available till 8pm, 10 min before was told 'kitchen closed'.

All 3 of us ordered the same meal and all 3 of us did not get onion rings until we reminded them. Gave higher service rating as we got the food in the end. Other than that, the food was tasty but a bit pricy and the place comfortable but not top of the range. Very loud place when the footy is on but that didn't bovver me.

It was great to see the two ladies behind the bar laughing and chatting to the customers. It was obvious that Miar and Phoebe also had a good relationship with the regulars. Although there was only two of them, they continued to work well as a team to serve, cleaning tables and wash the glasses. There was a warm welcome and younger customers were asked politely for ID. It was reassuring to see that they took this part of the job seriously. Well done ladies.

This is a nice place to hang out and get good food with friendly staff that makes you feel welcome. The atmosphere makes you feel relaxed and I highly recommend checking it out.

I've visited many Greene King places, but this was somewhat poor. There only seemed to be one barman serving, so there was a long queue (generally 7-deep) being served individually - although there were staff that came and went, nobody else seemed interested in helping out. I took a table and ordered using the app, but after 30 mins or so there was still no delivery so I ended up having to queue to enquire what happened to my order... only for them to admit they didn't serve that drink (so... why have it on the app?) The TV was playing the match and plenty were gathered to watch the game - I can't help thinking how much more revenue this could have taken if there was greater throughput. There were some nice beers on tap, quite a few different ones, but with the delay in getting served we soon moved on (and all agreed that we'd rule out visiting that for lunch the next day)

Absolutely disgusting food. The portion size of the chicken was a joke, probably a couple of mouthfuls at most with some cheap greasy bacon over it. . But didn’t really matter as it was inedible. The chips looked like they had been lying in dirty fat all day and then just warmed up before served. Never ever again. And the gents toilets are probably the worst pub toilets I’ve ever seen. A note on the back of the door says they are checked regular. Complete and utter lies.

Absolutely profit greedy drink prices, no wonder pub was empty at these stupid prices, you can sit outside in a Sainsbury car park for the pleasure of being completely ripped off . Shame on you Green King. Please do not respond with current market, as it’s not true , this is pure profiteering.

Came with a few friends to play pool and was greeted with a friendly smile by William. Pool table was free and we spent a good few hours playing with the staff interacting with us and adding to the experience! 5* experience

Came in for drinks with a few friends. Was greeted at the bar by very friendly staff who served us quickly and efficiently! Will made sure we were all set up with the pool table and came to check we all were okay and if we needed any more drinks. Great environment, would highly recommend

Ordered 2 chicken roasts and they came without stuffing like advertised, Yorkshire puddings were literally like crisps and when we informed the waiter about the stuffing he said he’d have a word with the chef and never returned, carrots were raw, bought two cokes, £3 each, mostly ice. Exchanged one of the meals for some nachos, guacamole was bitter, top layer were burnt. Jalapeños when I asked explicitly for no jalapeños. Overall bad quality. Place used to be amazing I loved it but recently they have declined terribly. Will not be coming again until they sort the food out.

I've been coming here for a few months now, and the service has only got better. The staff were friendly and service was quick. I spoke with the manager, Will, who told me about the changes that have been made during his time at the pub and they were all changes for the better. It shows. Patrick has also been a great staple. If he is working I know it's going to be a good evening due to his energy and efficiency

Food ok , but took a while to arrive. Went to the toilets upstairs which are in need of some re decoration. Expensive for what you get .

Unfortunately I would not eat there again. I had the "beyond meat" burger. (Sesame bun was burned, so I could only taste burn't bread.) Partner had the scampi and said the peas were like bullets. Vinegar bottle we were brought was almost empty, so not much thought given to service.

I dealt with the staff member called Patrick. He was professional and very well educated on all the beers and wines. Would defiantly recommend my family to go here especially with the service I received. I am not from the town and it looks like a top quality Great British Pub.
