great atmosphere and great food and views at this lovely inn just outside bude easy access for wheelchairs via the ramped walkway and staff were helpful and only to happy to assist wife dietary requirements. i would recommend this venue for a meal to anyone it has ample parking and the view across the cliffs is stunning

Fantastic service. Food lovely. We had the ribs and chicken and fish dishes. Service was second to none and with a warm smile. Family friendly. No need to book ahead just turn up. Very welcoming as it was our first visit to wonderful Bude. Fantastic views over the coastline with lovely walks. Plenty of parking for coaches etc.

Dropped in to watch the Rugby and have a few drinks at the end of a dog walk. Received a warm welcome & friendly service. Really great atmosphere, thoroughly recommend. We will be back for more drinks & food.

Best “Sunday roast” I’ve ever eaten. Meats were perfect, the beef especially. Veg superb and the sauce!!! Gravy doesn’t do it justice. Jus perfect ( spelling pun intended 😍) Git the chef out to tell him too 👍

The wonderful staff at The Bay View Inn hosted our Christmas Party for 16 people. The service and food was faultless. Friendly staff, delicious food and prompt service. The new owners have transformed The Bay View Inn, so if you haven’t visited for a while, we’d highly recommend it! The Cocktail bar is also an amazing addition to the space and definitely worth a visit! 5 Star thanks George, Annie and the team.

We visited the Bay View for our Christmas meal and we had a fantastic evening. The staff were all lovely. The meal that we had was delicious and there was plenty of it. They had a singer in for the evening, who was really good and created a brilliant atmosphere for everyone

We used to visit here regularly before but too many poor experiences stopped us from going. So it must be 5-6 years we haven’t visited and as locals that’s a long old time! However, after reading the reviews, felt it might be time to give it another go! Boy was it good! Took a friend to lunch and we were both very impressed by the place. Service was friendly, familiar but professional. Food was freshly cooked and delicious. Drinks were ace. Coffee brilliant. Yes the food is slower than in other places but definitely worth the wait. Prices are reasonable and portion size outstanding. We both thoroughly enjoyed our time here and are looking forward to returning soon. Go on give it a go! I’m sure you won’t be disappointed! Bay View is back on the map for locals, Called in today Sunday 10th Nov 24 , Greated buy such a lovely lady, and actually felt welcomed unlike the last time we stepped in to the bay view some 8 years ago! Being local we've been waiting patiently to be able to return! We had two roast beef dinners, after being told today was the first day and it didn't disappoint!! Cracking !! The last time we sat in here we waited and hour between course. Not today ! 15 mins ! No over cooked vegetables, perfect roasters And Yorkshire pudding ! Yum 😋 we will be back 😋

This used to be one of our regular stops when on holiday, but after a poor visit a couple of years ago, and the Bay View closed down when we visited last year, we were delighted to see one of our old favorites open again. Stopped for a drink on a beautiful, sunny, autumn day and sat outside enjoying the view. Good choice of drinks and crisps, snacks. Then returned on a rainy day and sat inside to try out the food. All excellent, across our party we had BLTs, open sandwiches and Caesar salad (the small was very generous), and cheesy chips. All were fresh and delicious. Lovely new toilets, all clean and modern. Friendly, helpful staff. Can't wait to visit again.

Hi everyone, we had a great evening at the Bay View, Bude, Cornwall. Plenty of parking, although dark could see the moon shining on the sea as we had asked for a sea view. The decor and all the furnishings were first class and a very good varied choice of menu. I had mussels as a starter in a sauce of shallots, parsley, cream and white wine which were excellent followed by grey mullet with tender stem broccoli, sliced roasties with a delicious sauce. For pudding we shared a delicious home made tart with cherry compote, clotted cream and decorated with blueberries, strawberries and raspberries, and a fruity sauce. The whole food experience was amazing, and we went back 2 days later. The service was vey good, music in the backgound was good, very clean and immaculate everywhere including the loos. They let us use their comfy sofa and wifi for an on-line quiz and served us drinks? We were served by a lovely lady called Helen who couldn't do enough for us snd we highly recommend the Bay View and will be revisiting the next time we visit Bude early next year.

Has a sea view which was a draw for us. We arrived 20 mins before dinner service and had no reservation, we were welcomed and the friendly waitress found us a table with a good view, we had drinks and a look at the menu in the meanwhile and another waitress came promptly when it was time & took our order. The food was tasty, we had the catch of the day and the fish and chips - chips were crispy & flavourful. We enjoyed our meal very much & the service was great. The toilets were also clean. If we’re ever in the area again we would like to eat there again.

Well what can we say.. we came out for a meal tonight and can say that we were totally and utterly impressed with the service levels, friendly staff and the outstanding food. I have never had seafood tagliatelle like that in my life-amazing.. the kids loved their chicken burgers and the others enjoyed their chicken Alfredo and burger. Totally perfect and well worth us driving down 3 hours to be with our parents for the weekend Keep up the good work and if we were closer we would frequent The Bay View Inn every week.. Thank you

We had a Lovely Lunch and the staff were very helpful and friendly in particular the Restaurant Manager. The food was very tasty and very good for the money. And the new management needs a pat on the back. We will certainly be back when we visit Cornwall again.

Camembert cold in the middle the burgers in a roasted bread which made them hard to eat and the contents of the burgers was bad salty meat also very noisy the service was good can’t fault the front of house but won’t be going there again

We visited here back in 2021 when we visited Cornwall on holiday and it was dreadful ! We are visiting Cornwall again currently and decided to give the bay view another go. Wow ! What a difference New owners breath of fresh air and the place looks amazing ! Staff were so helpful and smiley Food was outstanding Probably one of the best burgers I’ve eaten in a restaurant As a restaurateur myself I know how hard the catering industry can be. The new owners should be proud of what they have done in so little time ! Called in here for a drink on lunch a time, whilst staying up the road. It was thriving with lots of people imdoors eating. The Lady that served us at the Bar was lovely and friendly as was the lovely Waitress that actually came outside to ask if we wanted another drink or could she get us anything else. This definitely sold this venue to us. We enquired if the muscles dish was served everyday as I particulary wanted to try it. Very imformative Waitress. Have read some of the reviews on here regarding the food not being up to scratch, but from what we saw people being served when we there, it looked top notch. We will definitely be back to give it a try before the end of Our holiday.

We had a really delicious evening meal. The staff team were all friendly, efficient and knowledgable. We felt very well cared for and enjoyed some delicious food while looking out over a spectacular view. A great holiday vibe. Our dogs were also very welcome

Defiantly visit. Call and book. We had visited a range of places whilst in Bude and maybe we got lucky but tables were reserved and everyone looked happy when we were there. A small waiting time required. Our food arrived earlier than expected here. Bread board and dips for starter were orrfrct with fresh bread. ! We had mussels x2 in white wine sauce( lovely) and a lamb burger with fries. I must admit the staff were friendly, helpful and the food was fresh and cooked how we wanted. We are not talking 5 star in Bude but it fits the brief for families and couples and groups of walkers in seaside surroundings. We watched groups of walkers eating, families with small babies, couples and like us small a small family. This was the second week of August it was busy and equally a blustery day outside. They have recently taken over I believe. We have eaten at lots of high end restaurants in London so we like NICE. This is by no means anywhere that’s trying to be luxury but they are trying to ensure everyone has a decent meal and served well. Tables were clean and wiped down and drinks served quickly. We got that and would return. Prices are reasonable and if the weather is sunny you’d get a great sunset! Give it a go.

Just come away from this restaurant and won't be returning The portion size was tiny and the menu misconstrued. Fried chicken and chips was 4 small gpugens not chicken pieces and burnt please see pic below This was £15 a head. Rip off We are locals and will not be recommending.

Very poor and very expensive macaroni cheese £16 ! Music stuck on a loop so it was continuously bye bye Mr American Pie this will be the day you die. In the end we had to tell them it was stuck only 3 tables aside from ours had diners and no one else about. Staff continuously singing along to American Pie. It was awful. Would never go there again. It was once upon a time a happy place with a good menu, the decor is also horrible bits of stuff stuck all over the ceiling

Really disappointed with the food .Tasteless and over price. We won’t be back. My partner had Mexican chicken burger the only thing Mexican was the salsa sauce.I had a tasteless sausage roll chips a salad. The salad was really bad it should have went in the bin not on the plate .

Dreadful. Used to be great then got 'modernised'. Menu choices are now utterly predictable and not great either - unless chicken nugget style food and mediocre burgers are your thing. A classic example of a business that trades on its location (which is good) and completely loses it on what it's actually there to provide You probably can't go wrong with a pint and a packet of crisps though.

Been visiting this pub since the 1990s, with my Last visit here was in 2021 and two years on the place has changed a lot, new entrance into the pub/restaurant. Sat with the dog by the bar area. Wasn't busy at all but this is the end of the season for holiday makers. Always used to love having a few jars on the front but sadly it was a tad too windy. Ciders on tap include rattler and sorry to say Inch 🙄 no idea why every pub I've been to recently has that drink on draft esp when you have some amazing local ciders around. Beer and ales are ok and large gin selection. This place is ever changing and won't be shocked in a few more years it changes again.

1st night of our holiday and a Saturday night and more atmosphere on Mars. Buy a round. Bar person approaches us and says bar is closing at 20.10 on a Saturday night FFS. More life in a tramp’s vest. Won’t be back.

The location here is just lovely, pop in for a drink whilst on the coast drive. It's well set-up, clean, modern (except for the music playlist!) nice, safe play park for the kids. Food available too, but we'd already eaten so can't comment on that.

Went in at 7.15pm to be told food stopping in 5 minutes outside, ordered starters and mains to be told it would all come out together!! Ordered breaded prawns, whitebait then scampi and lasagne. It was all either brakes or 3663 food nothing homemade, the scampi looked like popcorn chicken!!! The lasagne didn’t taste of anything except the mozzarella and balsamic dressing that had been added on top. The staff were very rude and abrupt and gave the impression that the customers were an inconvenience. We left at 8.30pm and the restaurant was empty!! So can’t understand the rush to get our food ordered. I appreciate hospitality is finding it hard to get staff at the moment but we were thoroughly disappointed with our visit given the £63 we’d spent on food and drink. This was a Saturday evening, so would expect the kitchen to be open a little longer than 7.30pm!! We will not be visiting again or recommending this pub to anyone.

We visited twice, the first visit we couldn’t have been looked after better, super lovely friendly staff and they couldn’t have done more for us. We sat inside and ordered starters and a main plus a dessert. Pricey but delicious with-a great view. On the second visit the opposite applied. We sat outside not inside this time. Apparently you can’t order a starter and a main to arrive separately whilst sat outside ?! So we ditched the starter for just a main. I ordered scampi and at £17 was expecting more than 6 bits of over cooked scampi and a few chips, I felt very disappointed indeed. All in all the food is incredibly pricey and poorly presented. The view is amazing and after our first visit and the lovely staff we left the second time vowing never to return, such a shame.

We chose this hotel for an early evening meal due to its location overlooking Widemouth Bay. The service was poor, had to order drinks in one location and food in another. Didn't take cash unless I offered the exact amount and food was overpriced and average, £50 for cambert, salad and burger with chips, unfriendly and won't be returning.

Beautiful location and nice and clean. Good selection of Beer, the food menu was very limited, the quality of the food in general was fine, but very over priced, I guess this is why the place was only 20% full on a Lovely Saturday. I had a Burger as it was about the only thing on the menu for me as I am not into fish or seafood. The children had chicken Goujons and enjoyed them.

Food was good, although very small portions and really expensive. Restaurant poorly organised having to chase for a second drink, deserts etc. Really sad to see a great pub struggling, seems to want to be a art studio more than a pub.

If we had read recent reviews, we wouldn’t have come - and I think that would have been a shame. The place has so much potential and I hope if we’re ever in the area again it might have improved. It has amazing views, a great terrace and a handy little children’s play area. Inside is lovely too. But for some reason, what’s on offer doesn’t seem to live up to the surroundings. Staff seemed a bit fed up. We were told if we ordered starters they’d come at the same time as the mains because they didn’t have enough staff to monitor when we had finished our starters to know when to bring our mains! We were told if we wanted starters to come first we would have to pay for them first and then order and pay for our main when we had finished our starters…. We decided just to have mains. Food was nice enough - had fish and chips and kids sausage and chips. Very expensive for what it is, especially the kids food. Drinks have to be ordered in a different part of the building to the food order. Highly recommend it as a place for a drink and bar snacks to overlook the sea. As a dining experience, not so much.

Attended the Bayview Inn pub for a birthday meal out with my nephew and his family as we had all previously had amazing meals here. From the shock at the prices of the drinks, to the extremely limited menu (and the prices of said menu) we have come away very underwelmed. Our first waitress arrived to take our drinks after only a few minutes of sitting down, we asked "what a cornish cola is" to be told its Pepsi max although this was as a separate item on the menu. She was quite rude and appeared like she had better things to do! A different waiter brought our drinks and who we asked again, but still no clearer on the "cornish cola" which is on the menu. To be honest he didn't look like a member of staff so maybe he didn't know, the staff were all wearing own casu clothes, was unsure who was staff and not! The first waitress arrived again this time to take our food order, there were only a few different main options and the words "gluten free" in limited supply which was a requirement. Three of the group had scampi which consisted of 6 pieces of scampi and 10 large chips (almost wedges) that were claggy and undercooked from frozen. We asked to swap mushy peas for normal peas but they had no vegetable options at all otherwise, only baked beans. This was less quality than a frozen section at the supermarket and this was £17 a meal. We felt like customers were being taken the mickey out of charging that for what it was! We went for a proper meal but there were no proper dinner options, just things that didn't require a chef. No cooking anywhere in that menu apart from a curry. There are four burger options, four breaded/battered fish options, two pasta options and a specials board with again, food that didn't require any thought or prep. The desserts were similar so the celebration we had planned, and the money we would have spent was cut short. We had finished our one drink and meal in well under an hour, then to pay over £125 for essentially a frozen meal has not left us satisfied (note only two white wine spritzers in that cost, otherwise all cheaper soft drinks). I can definitely say we will not be returning! I cannot believe a beach front establishment is serving such poor quality food, in a sterile environment, with rude staff, it's madness. No wonder inside was empty on an August summer holiday evening. The only thing that's nice about this place is the gin selection we noticed and the balcony to sit outside. Very poor. This business is currently for sale for £3.3 million - if you can get this place cheaper and turn it in to an actual pub restaurant with properly home cooked foods you'll be on to a winner. This was such a good place before, locals and tourists alike enjoying it. Definitely not now. Of interest the rooms to stay in here had availability.... In the summer holidays.... Situated less than 5 minutes from the beach. That says a lot.

This is a very serious review. Please no not go to this restaurant if you suffer from food allergies or have coeliac disease. A family of 6 went to this restaurant last week for a special occasion. We had been there 10 years before and had an amazing meal and wanted to return for our anniversary. The staff were not overly friendly and the meal is extremely limited and for say this restaurant is sea front no fresh fish - in fact no fresh food at all. Food was not fresh, definitely frozen and reheated and/or out of a jar! My mother who is a coeliac ordered the gluten free special chicken tikka masala. When it arrived it came with naan bread on top of the food even though we had explained my mother was a coeliac and double checked the curry was definitely gf. We were assured it was! So, when the meal came out my mother said I’m sorry, but I can’t eat that as the bread has gluten and will now have contaminated the rest of the food. The waitress returned to the kitchen. Shortly after the. Chef came out and asked my mum if she was a “proper” coeliac or was it just a fad? My mother and all coeliacs do not choose to suffer with an autoimmune disorder and if my mother eats even a small amount of gluten in error she is seriously poorly! When the apparently new food came out my mother did not feel able to trust that it didn’t have gluten in as it only took 2 mins to come out and just appeared to have been warmed up! The owner did try to appease us by not charging for the meal, but quite frankly this was not enough. Everyone’s food was totally inadequate, expensive microwaved food. Even without the issue regarding my mum being a coeliac, the food was not even mediocre. would not recommend!

The service was extremely terrible. We were ignored for 25 minutes, sat at our table (which we had booked in advance), not even offered a drink. The menu was very limited and extortionately over priced. We walked out and will not be going again, unsurprisingly.

We visited The Bay View Inn yesterday while visiting the beach at Widemouth Bay. We arrived around 5.30, before the rush. The food was reasonably priced, very quick to appear once ordered and tasted delicious. Well worth a visit.

We booked for a family of eight (two young children) but were told on arrival that tables were for a maximum of six, and we couldn’t put tables next to one another. Our booking was 5.30 as we had the young children who were hungry. We were told that there was a wait of an hour for food; and they had run out of pizzas for children. The restaurant was by no means full; there were a lot of empty tables. We looked at the menu - which bore no resemblance to the very attractive dishes listed on the sample menu on the website. We saw another family choose to leave rather than wait; sadly we had a drink and left without eating.The decor is new and impressive. It’s sad that the management and staff have not got themselves organised.

It was my birthday meal so maybe expectations were way too high. On a positive note the view is lovely - there is no denying that - and at all times the staff were very friendly. COVID rules adhered to which was reassuring though some customers left as the dining area was cold. We had anticipated this and dressed appropriately but some people turned up in T-shirts so more fool them. We ordered a starter of salami and olives but were told there was no salami, therefore requested olives on their own but that was not possible?? which was our first indicator that food is not freshly prepared on site. Second was that 4 main courses were also not available and this was day three of indoor dining, obviously a supply issue. We both ordered chicken curry with rice and flatbread; unfortunately it was the most tasteless “curry” I have ever experienced and the flatbread was soggy and took up half of the plate. I was so hungry that I did manage some rice and a few pieces of chicken but no way could I continue eating. The following day we bought two supermarket microwave curries for a fiver and they were absolutely delicious in comparison. Customer service dealt with it well and we were not charged for the meal. We were also charged for an extra pint of beer; on reflection this was probably due to the fact that we had to order it twice as the first order was forgotten. I can’t imagine that locals would regularly dine here and I guess their income relies on single-visit holidaymakers. All in all it was a very disappointing evening never to be repeated

Family of 4 adults and 4 small kids at 6pm. Told on arrival to order early as there was a 35 minute wait for food. Waited half an hour before having to flag down staff to order. Drinks took 45 mins to arrive. We had to ask for water 3 times. Main courses took 2 hours to emerge . When it did, the woman we believe to be an owner said ‘better late than never’’ in the most appallingly misjudged quip. Food average at best, and certainly not worth the wait. No apology. When the bill arrived with drinks we hadn’t ordered on it, they were removed and I suggested that they should take some money off to reflect the appalling service to a group with young children. The man said ‘we’re all in the same boat here’ and ‘it says on the menu that waits may be long at peak times’. When we suggested that they shouldn’t book in more orders than they can adequately service, the man (we think the other owner) had a tantrum, said ‘I was going to take some money off but I’m not going to now’ and stormed off. We went to leave and pay at entrance. Female owner said man was embarrassed by his outburst but wouldn’t come out. She knocked 20 per cent off the bill. Still left with bitter taste. Feels like these people have bitten off more than they can chew. Smaller, better menu (not a good menu), fewer covers and more staff might save this place which is in a beautiful location. But only if the owners are prepared to open their eyes to the issues and address them. I hope that they do, but regardless we will not be returning.

Me and my girlfriend went here for an evening meal and had a brilliant time. If your going for a yummy meal and a nice drink there’s nothing better to do than sit there, relax and take in the unreal view!
