The Bay Horse Restaurant in Harrogate

We came to the Bay horse on a weekend away with my partner and I cannot praise this place enough. I am disabled and as soon as the hosts realised this they changed our room to make things more accessible. They also squeezed us in for dinner that night on short notice and were so welcoming. The food was lovely and the room was spot on! We could have as many top ups of tea, coffee, sugar etc as wanted and the bed was extremely comfy and huge.! We were also offered help with our bags to the car due to Tony having to do everything on his own. What a Fabulous couple!. We will be back without a doubt. Even the cost is very budget friendly and we were given until 11am, an hour more than most places to leave the room in the morning. Thank you both for a lovely stay...... Collette and Tony

Called in today for the most amazing Sunday lunch. We did book this morning just in case We both had the roast beef dinner with all the trimmings and a huge Yorkshire pudding Absolutely delicious would recommend 100% Dog friendly too and very attentive owners Thank you 🤩

We had dinner on Sunday 13th October, Lamb shank was delicious & the Venison stew was great. The meal was accompanied by five different vegetables & a huge Yorkshire pudding. Both Annie & Janie were very attentive

We booked a room at the Bay Horse the night before we attended a glass blowing workshop at Uredale Glass. Our room was delightfully quirky, fully equipped and one of the comfiest hotel beds we have slept in. Our breakfast in the morning was superb, a full English and porridge and toast, tea and coffee…..delightful! Thank you to Ann and Rob for their great hospitality and Mia, our lovely breakfast waitress.

Lovely pub with a nice atmosphere, great service and good food. It’s also located in a great area with nice set up outside.

Very enjoyable stay here last Sunday night with my husband. We stayed room only in a large top floor room which was great. For once there was lots and lots of space, with two large windows letting in plenty of natural light, nd plenty of mirrors. Lovely wee sofa seating area and a tiny fridge with yoghurt in and hot drinks and biscuits . Great wee touches. The bathroom was wee but shower was lovely and everything was very clean. The weather was lovely so enjoyed a few wee drinks in the courtyard area which is really cute. The landlady was lovely and friendly and we would definitely return at a future date. Had a lovely weekend stay at the Bay Horse. Friendly, welcoming and attentive staff who couldn’t do enough for you. The room was lovely; decorated and furnished beautifully, tea, coffee & hot chocolate making facilities, mini fridge and some really tasty home made horse shaped shortbread biscuits! The food was delicious - we had the garlic mushrooms, steak & ale pie and Bay burger - all were fantastic and my husband is still raving about the amount of quality meat in the pie! Will definitely be back and hopefully soon - thanks for a great stay 😊

We stayed two nights here as our wedding anniversary treat. We received a wonderful warm welcome on arrival, even though we were a little later than anticipated due to work commitments. We had missed last orders for food but our host offered to prepare us something even though chef had left, which was a lovely thought but we didn't want to put her out as the bar etc was very busy! Our room was superb. I was concerned it would be cold, as building is grade 2 listed but it was toasty all night long. Amazingly comfortable bed (and pillows!), with beautiful furnishings. Cleanliness 10/10. Our host had even left us an anniversary card in our room which was a thoughtful touch. Breakfast.....oh yum. Not many people prepare eggs the way I like, but the ones our host prepared were just right. All of the breakfast was fabulous. One of the best we've had while away. Highly recommended. Evening meal the next night did not disappoint either. By far the best steak and ale pie I've had. Beautifully cooked beer battered fish was equally as tasty. All in all a special little place which we will definitely recommend and visit again in the future.

Spent a wonderful evening and night at the Bayhorse, Masham. Excellent food and stayed over in a beautiful room. An old pub with loads of character with staff who can't do enough for you. Charlie and Zac on the bar are just so lovely as is landlady Ann and her husband, whose name escapes me (so sorry). Already booked to go again, such a great place and great people, we felt a bit spoilt.

It was a chilly evening outside but the Bay Horse was so cosy and welcoming especially with the real fire to keep us all warm. We enjoyed a few dark beers and a brandy but 11pm soon came around and sadly it was time to leave.

Called in on way to Hawes last week. Very friendly and helpful staff although our dog turned her nose up to the treats that were offered by the staff.. Super lunch. This is our go to place for lunch whenever we are in that area.

My partner and I were staying in an Air B&B in Exselby and spent the day in Masham and chose to eat at the Bay Horse. We we blown away with the food and the soup which was homemade was the best we have ever had and we have stayed in 5 star accommodation all over the world! The ambiance was excellent and so much that we booked a room for 23rd December to return and celebrate the festive season and looking forward to more excellent food and accommodation which is assured. All the staff are so pleasant and wanting to make sure everything is alright. Have it worked in this trade for many years I know what I am talking about and believe me give the Bay Horse a try x. You won’t be disappointed.

This was a recent 'boys' walking holiday for a couple of days staying in Masham. The Bay Horse agreed to provide the ten of us with a private room, to eat dinner and more importantly watch England vs Italy football match. The food was great. Hot, tasty and freshly cooked food. The staff were polite and friendly. Could not find fault. Thank you The Bay Horse. Well done.

Our second time staying at the Bay Horse in the Nidd Room! Another wonderful 4 day break made even more special because of Ann! Ann is the perfect host alongside all the wonderful staff! Lovely meals on the Friday and Sunday night - highly recommend the pate, pie & lamb! Thank you again for a perfect stay!

Greeted and sat straight away. India our server was friendly and attentive. We visited with our dog Rosie who was given a bowl of water and offered a treat. I had chilli which was lovely and my husband had the lamb shank which he said was one of nicest he has had. We both had a desert which were very good too. Reasonably priced good wholesome food in friendly surroundings. Should we come back to Masham we will definitely revisit the Bay Horse

From start to finish our stay was fantastic. We hadn’t even got through the door when Rob took our bags from us and gave us the warmest of welcomes. He took our bags upstairs and was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The room was lovely. Huge super king bed that was very comfy. Spotlessly clean. The room we had was on the front overlooking the street below but we didn’t have any issues with noise. Ear plugs were provided if you’re a light sleeper. We ate in the bar one night. Again another genuinely warm welcome from bar manager. We both had lasagne and it was delicious and definitely homemade! A cracking pint of Black sheep finished our meal. As mentioned in other reviews, breakfast is extra but worth every penny. Ann looked after us at breakfast and the food was again delicious. Ann and Rob are doing a great job with this gem of a pub. Very pleased with the Hotel situation and very dog friendly. Found the staff most accomodating especially Gaye & Chris who were above and beyond.

I stayed in the Swale room on the top floor. I was welcomed warmly and helped upstairs with bags. The room as very large with a lovely comfy bed. The addition of a chair and dressing table was a nice touch. The shower room was absolutely fine with a good string water stream. The shower room has all the bits you would expect from a more expensive hotel. Breakfast isn’t offered during the week, which was fine for me but what I didn’t expect was a little fridge which housed complimentary yoghurt, juice and a lovely muffin. Tea coffee and biscuits were also supplied in the room, The only minor negative was the room temperature, it was very warm but we were in the very warm spell. There was the lovely addition of a good fan, this certainly helped. Overall, a fantastic place and one I wouldn’t hesitate in staying again, I didn’t eat or drink in the pub so can’t comment on that side.

Just had a lovely home cooked meal here, the chilli was delicious as was the scampi, we did wait a little bit but it was worth it, would definitely recommend it.

We had an excellent meal last night at the Bay Horse in Masham. We arrived slightly late and we both ordered their Steak & Ale pie. It was a "proper" home made pie in a shortcrust casing. Absolutely delicious. Not a soggy bottom in sight!...

I had pie which was a proper pie not a fancy puff pastry topped pot, fantastic with chips peas and gravy. Julia had scampi which was plentiful and very good

Greeted and made comfortable by the very helpful barman. We had two dogs with us, one rather large, and were well accepted. The bar area is fairly congested but cosy. We had good pub food at an acceptable price. A homely experience.
