First visit for a Boris bargain. Wednesday 4.45pm. Staff very professional, wiped tables, tables spaced out, markers on floor by carvery.Got busy as we were leaving and louder as more families arrived.Great food and great service and we felt safe.Don’t think the menus were single use .....thought they had to be....?.Massive thank you to all the staff for a great experience.Ps book on line

Good simple food done well. Plenty of veg, all with some sauce/covering over them. A rare treat that used to be a Sunday staple of growing up; A good sturdy Sunday Roast. Toby Carvery reminds me of the happy times of growing up in the 70's when it was the only restaurant available. No cask beer, yet, so had to have John Smith's another reminder of the 70's. Unfortunately, no Ford Capri in the car park to complete my reminiscence.

Went here on a Tuesday evening, nice evening, food, ambiance, facilities and service especially our waitress Jan, who was superb, funny and a consummate professional, I could run away with her she's boss(don't tell the wife) George was good as well but not as good looking as Jan. Definitely recommend.

I decided to visit Bay for breakfast, unfortunately I was not impressed with the quality although for those people who want quantity whats the point of having seconds or cart blanc h e to eat what you want when the standard of food is not up to scratch. The bacon was shrivelled and greasy, and although I fid manage t o pick up two greasy pieces with the tongs,Ididnt eat them the sausages were also.shrivelled and over cooked.,but I managed to eat the beans were dried up.So in conclusion I will give the Bay Horse a miss at least I know no the standard of the. Breakfast available.

It may have been some time since my last visit, but thought it would be a good idea to renew any changers that may have occurred. On arrival were warmly greeted and directed to choose a table in the restaurant. 2 chose to dine in the carvery, the remaining member chose a vegetarian selection. The carvery meal was chosen immediately and the 3rd,choice arrived promptly. After the sweet course we reviewed our experience and marked 8 out of 10. Steph. the waitress was marked 12. out of 10, as nothing went on she did not know about/ control/solve. Excellent!

We had the carvery, there were 4 meats to choose from, the chef was very friendly and the assortment of vegetables were numerous, which you helped yourself to and 3 types of gravy and sauces to compliment the meal. Everything was hot and well cooked.

Went for lg family birthday meal...was extremely hot inside but when asked if a door could be opened we were refused as another diner nearer door was cold. So everyone had to melt due to one person. I feel that a compromise could have been made as in moving the 3 people near door instead of ruining the meals of a lot of people. The staff were nice enough but when asked about door it was as if the 1 cold person was more important than the rest of the diners. The carvery was nice apart ftom the beef that was greasy and fatty..we will not hold another family gathering there unfortunately

Fine choices of meat available. Some carvers are a little stingier than others. Lots of veg to choose from and roasties , when on form, are top notch. Friendly server up the top end as well. Always has time for a bit of banter.

Always over looked going to the Bay Horse for food but found ourselves popping in today and the food was actually really nice. There was a chilled, friendly atmosphere and service with a smile. Food is a bit pricey: 2 carverys, a shared desert and 2 drinks was almost £40. All of the staff were great. We were greeted on our way in and as we were leaving by the front of house staff. Our waitress Steph was lovely, very friendly and attentive.Basically if you’re looking for a nice quiet pub for a roast dinner then this is your place.

My husband and I ate there just over a week ago and food was really nice. Visited today with friends and the meat was cut so thin you could see through the Turkey. Poor value. Did not complain. As everyone got mean thin portions. The Turkey will last them all week. This is my last visit sorry to say £14 for coca cola and a plate of veg very expensive.

Iv always loved the bay horse for their carvery and especially the deserts! They now do lamb on a Sunday which is lovely. The desserts have changed for the worse though- they took off the brownie sensation which was to die for! They replaced it with a peanut and hazelnut alternative which was actually really gorgeous too!!! So when I visited recently I was looking out for the new hazelnut sundae and they have changed the menu again!!!! I was so disappointed! Hopefully they'll bring back the brownie sensation! Even the waitress said that all customers are asking for it!!

Try and avoid the peak times as they often over book and you can be in for a hefty wait. Also, have a look at the meats available as you can end up with the scraps of your preferred roast, only to see a new joint being bought out as you pick ur veg. Overall you can’t beat it for a pretty good value family feed, lovely staff and good drinks. Good for the kids as well as it’s refillable soft drinks after your first purchase. Maybe not so much a romantic dinner for two.

I go here quite a lot. Once sometimes twice a week, lovely food always cooked to perfection, and the chef Austin I have to say is amazing, he will even cut off the fat from the meat fir you if you ask him too. This little touch is great as when you have covered your plate in veg pots and gravy that last thing you want is a mouthful of fat, way to go Austin you deserve a pay rise.

There are carvery's and Carvery's. The Bay Horse has to be the best. It's a traditional pup restaurant, cozy and friendly. The food is lovely and the carvery has 'the best roasties' I've ever tasted. Generous choice of Pork, Gammon, Turkey or Beef. Help yourself to a great variety of vegetables, and, go back for more of you're still hungry. You can upsize if you're ravenous and for under £10 what's not to love!

You have to call in early to get a table. Book early. When I call around 2 pm there was still a half hour wait. You could sit at the tables around the bar. You can pay at the bar for the carvery. The food was a fantastic soak up after a fabulous Saturday night. The chefs were good with the customers. We got them each a pint to have at the end of the day. I score it a 3 as there must be a better system to ensure that the wait for table or food is less. Does the place needs a refurbishment?

Visited here earlier this month on the occasion of my uncle's funeral. Firstly, I can't speak highly enough about the staff who were exceptionally helpful, friendly and super efficient. There were around 30 people in our party and we were all treated in a first class manner. Having eaten at quite a few Toby Carveries I can't say I was expecting the food to be anything more than basic fare but I was proved to be wrong as the gammon I chose was the nicest I've ever tasted anywhere. It was obviously quality meat and cooked to perfection. Everything was also nice and hot which isn't usually the case when there are a number of people being catered for at once. It goes without saying that I'm looking forward to my next visit.

This is a Toby restaurant and I am a regular visitor to the carvery, so cannot comment on any other menu. However the staff are always pleasant the food good. The meat portions are generous but if you are a really big eater, the large plates are good value. There is always a good selection of vegetables and sauces/ gravies. It is a popular venue for families at lunchtimes and advisable to book for evenings. Taking a guest here you can be assured that you will not have to apologise for your choice of venue.

I recently reviewed the Ainsdale Carvery where I had a sandwich and was sorely disappointed. Today we had breakfast at Formby Toby Carvery and it was brilliant. All food was hot and delicious. ( One minor criticism is the fried eggs were pretty solid after sitting but when the chef replaced them I made sure I got a fresh one). There is scrambled egg but if you want a runny yolk fried egg then you may be disappointed unless you time it right. Bacon was crispy, sausages well cooked and there was sautéed potatoes as well as beans. We got our hot drinks and toasted our bread before getting food as I like my food hot and it was a good tactic. In my opinion I think the mature female chef was doing a splendid job and took care to maintain the standard of the food. Sometimes the younger staff don’t have the same maturity or interest in making sure the food is acceptable. I wish restaurants would consider using older staff more. Well done Formby Carvery!

Thought Toby owners would have put a fan in for him as we thought he looked uncomfortable in the heat (although he did not complain and was friendly and helpful) the heat behind the counter must of been immense for him. Took our 2 nieces as received a voucher with drinks offer. Asked if ice cream £1 with meal as well was told yes . Ordered carvery 4 drinks and ice cream. Unusually the bill was brought over just as we finished. I said what about the voucher and staff said oh yes and took bill back. Went to till to pay and with voucher bill was same. Then told ice creams were 11.96 four 4 and the best deal for you is as the bill is. Can't understand as we and our families are regular visitors and only in there the day before 2 roasts for £10 . When I got home I worked out if I would have used my AA vouchers as usual I would have saved £10 on my bill as for our party it has never been as expensive. I questioned the bill with staff to be told it was best option but didn't want to cause a scene. Meal great as usual but some staff unsure of what is and what isn't in offers until bill is added through tills too late. Also missed my reward because of it all never mind .

The place has improved greatly since last time, we went last Christmas and it was awful, bad service, food the whole works. We did not want to go back this year but my mother in law who's 86 and treats us to it every year really wanted to give it another go, and I have to admit it was a lot better. Much of the improvement was down to the waitress who really looked after us, she even got us garlic bread which was not on the menu.

This is our 2nd visit for Sunday lunch. The food was really good. However the service was very slow this time. We waited an hour for our main after having our starter. We were also sat next to the door. Which on a very cold day in December was not ideal. Every time the door opened there was a cold blast. We were a table of 5 the previous visit it was just 2 of us. So not sure if this is the reason the food took so long. As the Kitchen only looks small.
