A party of 10 of us are camping near by and we came to see if we could have dinner. The barman accommodated us, was super pleasant and friendly with us all, including the 6 children that we had with us!! On top of that, the food was absolutely delicious and the price wasn’t overpriced at all. Great experience. Highly recommended. And will most certainly be going back!! Thanks so much guys!!! We visited the Bay Horse for tea last week, we haven't been to eat since the new management took over. We ordered 2 Lasagne's and asked for chips rather than garlic bread and 1 pie. All of the meals were delicious, portions were great, in fact we didn't need the chips as the Lasagne was a huge, the only negative was we didn't have room for pudding. I would definitely recommend if you like good quality pub fare, we have already booked our return visit it was that good.

Excellent meal. Catered well for gluten and dairy free diet. Environment was comfortable and 🐕 friendly and good value for money too.

Very Very 'Average' food at a Very Very expensive price. Staff cant be bothered serving - used to be an excellent pub with great food - You can certainly tell the new landlord either hasn't got a clue or as I suspect can't be bothered. He is never seen personally in the business - as such the staff are useless and don't give a monkeys either. What a shame a good pub can now be so bad......... I'm sure it will be flats soon as the manager is trying to kill it

We’ve enjoyed several meals at The Bay Horse Inn, Hatfield since the new management moved in. We’ve experienced great food and service on each occasion. I’m so glad to see it gaining a reputation for good food again and long may it continue.

Quiz Night - ( don't ask for food - it does not exist any more ) But try to buy a drink??? the staff were buy with paperwork and the only guy behind the bar refused to serve as he was doing a computer quiz. The few customers that were 'doing the quiz' were embarrassed at how badly they served customers and were very vocal about it. AVOID - ITS NOT WORTH A VISIT

The food was absolutely fantastic. Big portions so it's worth going if you're hungry! I ordered the chip shop platter and it didn't disappoint at all. Great service from all the staff. The only thing I would advise is that they create a starter of a bowl full of pea shoots because they tasted devine😍 lovely place, lovely staff and great food, what more can you want?

The food came out quickly after ordering, arrived piping hot and full of flavour! I ordered the sirloin steak medium well and was cooked to perfection! 10/10 would return!

Lovely setting for an traditional English pub. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly and willing. The menu a quite extensive and not for the faint hearted. However there was a light bite section so we had the Scampi Basket and the Gammon steak. Both arrived quickly and hot. Very tasty meal and well priced. Visited this evening (Friday) with my partner. We ordered Stilton burger and lasagne the presentation of the food was miserable. The burger 15.95 was ok, nothing outstanding not visually appealing, it was slapped on a plate and served with chips… no finesse, no coleslaw no care a plate with some chips and a burger looking lost. My lasagne was bland and lacking in meat, pasta and flavour it was just covered in cheese I’ve had better from Asda. (12.95) couple this with two pints of beer moretti at £5.50 a pint we wasted just short of £40 - we gave feedback … the waitress said I will pass your comments to the chef… and nothing, zero in fact a couple on the next table said how poorly our comments were taken. If your in the area drive past and head for the canal tavern in Thorne, the food, service and value is in a different league compared to here.

Well worth the stop, not one scrap of food was bland, bursting with flavour. My only regret is I ate so much I couldn't keep going.

Such a great little place, old school pub/restaurant with amazing home cooked food. Had one of the sea bass specials, was outstanding, and the sauce really finished it off perfectly. Whole party really enjoyed there meals. Will absolutely be visiting again.

Poor selection of dishes available from the menus (delivery tomorrow!!) Cajun chicken which was available was dry. New staff completely run off their feet trying to serve behind the bar and serve meals. Having said this service was quick and it’s great to see the Bay Horse being used again. Went for a Sunday Roast. The good points : Really attentive staff and very fast service. The bad points: The beef was inedible. It was thick and so tough it couldn’t be cut even with the knife. It was also pretty tasteless. It was a really disappointing but expensive experience. Would not go back there again unfortunately.

Since Christine has taken the reigns at The Bay Horse it’s gone from rubbish to fantastic, she is putting her heart and soul into building up a good trade, and it’s working all the food is spot on and is very fresh and hot, it’s one of the very few places where you can get Steak & Kidney pie and even Rabbit Pie! You do need to book if you don’t, be prepared for a fair wait, the pub for dining is becoming more popular by the week....

Called shortly after Mid-day for Sunday Lunch, a good number of the Tables pre-booked, we were shown a table for two, and placed our order for the Roast Pork

My wife and I called in for lunch,I ordered drinks from the bar asked the barmaid for the menu.We looked through the menu I went to the bar and ordered Cumberland Sausage and mash for myself,and roast dinner for my wife the barmaid took the order.The waitress came and set the table,after a few minutes the waitress returned and said there were no roast or mash potatoes so we said to the waitress to cancel the order.The waitress said ok and returned to the kitchen,we then heard somebody in the kitchen shout they have cancelled there order.I find it hard to believe that the barmaid accepted our order to start with after us ordering of the menu.Obviously there was no communication between bar staff-waitress-kitchen staff.And don’t expect to hear comments like that from kitchen.If we had been told when ordering by the bar staff that certain things not available we could have accepted that.More communication between staff required.

Visited before the refurb with my wife and both had steak and stilton pie, chips and veg, pie was excellent with lots of meat, chips were homemade, a bit scrappy but again tasted excellent.

Visited for a family meal for the food to be undercooked and 90% of the meal was left, management very defensive on the matter being argumentative and even calling us a t**t. She thinks because she has supposedly many years experience within the industry that that is a good way to speak to customers, especially when 2 of us work within hospitality ourselves. I'd heard a lot of good stuff about the Bay Horse in recent month since the new management took over. I decided to go a few weeks ago at dinner time and again a couple of weeks later for tea.

Lovely refurb, great manageress - so friendly and bubbly. Food 100% home cooked far better than any chain restaurants. Excellent function room too.

Over the last months the pub has had a YO-YO of quality problems, since Christine has took the pumps, WOW food and drink back to the old days, warm friendly welcome great food excellent beer what more can you ask for, we wish them continued success and will continue our support, keep up the great work, well done to all.....

We hadn’t been here in a while as the last meal was terrible but we heard it was under new management and had been refurbished. So glad we did the decor is upto date and everyone was very welcoming. Our little girl wanted something that wasn’t on the kids menu and it was no problem at all. The food came nice and hot and it was great. The landlady came over and spoke to us and just made us feel very welcome.

Came here with the family after the place has been refurbished and got new owners. As soon as we entered Christine was friendly, warm and welcoming! The decor is amazing, the place looks so cosy with lovely blown up old photographs of Hatfield. The menu has lots of options including children’s section. I had the beef and ale pie and it was amazing! The beef just melted in the mouth and there was so much of it in the pie. Will be coming back to my hown town more often just so I can visit this place again!

I was worried when I heard The Bay Horse was getting a make over as I loved the traditional cosy feel of a true village pub but it's nicely done and hasn't lost all of its charm. I hope it gets its reputation back soon and wish Chris all the best. Our lunch was very nice so fingers crossed it's back on track again as the previous year was not good.

Took my Mam out for lunch today for her birthday, we were going to go somewhere but she didn’t like the sound of the menu, so after discussion and searching menus on line we popped in to the Bay Horse in Hatfield on the off chance, we were not disappointed! After checking they had in what Mam wanted on the menu we settled down and the hospitality was great, the staff were very friendly, and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was fabulous between the three of us we had Scampi, Lasagne and Cumberland Sausage Whirl all served with chips, even Mam cleared her plate! The pie served to other customers smelt beautiful and looked amazing! We even decided to stay for pudding Apple Crumble, Rhubarb Crumble and Syrup Sponge all serves with custard, stuffed was not the word! They close on Monday 29 April for a refurb and open on 23 May we would definitely go back and would recommend people give this a try if they haven’t already done so! Just been to the Bay Horse after giving up on it in recent months. Fed up of being the only clients. What a turnaround. We went early doors on a Tuesday night, and by the time we left after a very good meal, the place was buzzing. The ambience has returned. It is a proper homely pub again. So please don't alter it too much. We don't want a modern trendy place, please keep its charm and cosiness, a rare commodity nowadays. Wishing the new owners well.

asking around we was recommended this little pub. and oh my god, we were not left disappointed. The food was amazing, although gutted not a full choice available due to an impending land lord change. The two young women behind the bar were friendly, and interactive with all customers. I later found out one was the manager due to be handing over which is such a shame. The young waitress was so polite and professional.

Called on the off chance for lunch. Our meals were Rabbit Pie/ 2 x Hot Roast Beef Sandwiches with a side dish of chips. All I can say it was one of the best Pub lunches I have ever had, I will definitely be going back again soon after its refurbishment it is shortly undergoing. The ladies toilets are prestine and smells so clean. Service was also excellent, I would definitely recommend this establishment.

Decided to try the Bay Horse on National Pie Day as it has about 20 pies on the menu and with all different fillings. It does have another menu as well but we care for the pies! We both opted for the Tipsy Moo (steak and ale) played it safe... but will be more adventurous next time! I got mash and my boyfriend got chips which looked more like roast potatoes but whatever they were they were beaut! Had to get a takeaway box for half my pie I was so full, wish I’d have had room for a pudding. Staff were so sweet and nice and chatty, the decor is like walking back in time but we kind of liked it, wish we’d discovered this little place sooner!

Absolutely disgusted at lunch today! First visit after a while and opted for what I regularly had, scampi, only to receive half the usual portion (4 pieces of scampi and about half a dozen chips). I queried this and was told that the lunchtime menu was now small plates. I checked the 'online' menu for the price and even though I thought it expensive for what it I was happy to pay. When the bill came it was the price I'd always paid, again I questioned this to be told the online menu prices were wrong!!! No apology, nothing! Needless to say I won't be eating there again anytime soon!

Wonderful home cooked food when you don’t have the time or inclination to cook. We have visited for decades, and the quality, standards, and atmosphere of a traditional pub still remains with consistently good pub grub! With the addition of the new pie menu, it gives a new fun twist to ordering and trying out all the different pies available. Unfortunately, Thumper, the rabbit pie we were all looking forward to, was so popular that they had ran out! Thumper had ran off! Pre ordering is available however, to ensure there are no disappointments is what we were informed by the landlady. We needed no persuasion to stay for the quiz which we thoroughly enjoyed for the first time. “Same time again next month!” Is what we agreed as a group of family and friends!

We have been eating here for more than 6 years and we’ve had some great meals. We visited 3 times under the new management and decided to stop coming because the availability of dishes on the menu and the quality of the food had gone down so much. Yesterday we decided to give it another try and I’m sad to say that we were bitterly disappointed. I had liver and some pieces were tender while other pieces were like leather, the mash tasted like it had been warmed up, I couldn’t eat it. The barmaid called everyone ‘darling’; I’m no prude but I’m not her darling. We won’t be going again. The waitress was very good, but the bar staff hardly acknowledged us.

Tried the food again a few months after we had a poor meal in the bay horse, they only had 1 porttof soup left and same with the mushrooms (soup was nice but very thick).

Having had a very disappointing experience some months ago, we decided to try it again after receiving good reports.
