Full honest review of our first experience yesterday(Sunday)at the Barley Mow. First impressions from road side is a well presented pub with clear signage, parking was easy as its got a large car park, although the markings are getting a bit faded. Walk in, again well signed, but once inside, it was a bit unclear where to stand/go and who to speak to about a table to eat. We were seated after about 5-8mins of blank faces, but once acknowledged the staff were welcoming and nice. Service was prompt and our tempura prawns were hot,crispy and tasty,and out within 10-15mins. Mains out within 20mins after starter, halloumi burger was nice according to my wife,and crispy fries! Duo roast was one of the best roasts I've had in a pub!!! honey glazed carrots cooked perfectly, PROPER roast potatoes, peeled, boiled,roasted in fat! (Most pubs cannot seem to do it) thick cut tender beef, seasoned well, and succulent chicken! Not forgetting the giant homemade Yorky! The side if pigs in blankets were cooked perfectly too! We liked the simplicity of the menu and drinks menu,as just enough choice without too much choice! With food this good,I'm surprised this place isn't rammed on a Sunday! With a few changes to to interior signage or even a welcome desk for the restaurant, I can't see why it wouldn't be. I will certainly be speading the word.. Compliments to the chef(s) keep it up!

Quick weekday stop off, in the early evening. Decent parking, nice pub, with good front and rear outdoor seating. Staff pleasant.

We went for a late lunch on Euro Cup Final weekend. Arguably their busiest evening of the year. Staff was courteous, prompt and full of suggestions regarding the food. Drinks were served quick. Food took a bit of time which is understood given the rush on that day. Food was delicious. The place seems a bit pricey but one must pay for quality of Food and Service. This is a must visit again place.

So not been here 35 years still a landmark of Hersham. Well done all.

Nice pub with good parking facilities and a covered outdoor smoking area.

Hadn’t been here in about 18-19 years or so. Stopped off here, on the way back from W-O-T post office. Venue has changed much inside - good ‘large and small’ sections inside. Place was very busy for an early Tuesday evening. Plenty of decent screens showing the tennis. Decent outside covered area. Service was decent and a pint can cost a mere £4.90, depending on what you opt for.

What a lovely lovely Pub really friendly atmosphere and staff so kind and helpful the food was absolutely amazing and a varied menu we had the Roast which was superb will definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone as well.

Looks like a nice pub and might be good for having a pint but the food is really bad, 2 of us ate here and both v disappointed.

What was worse than the waitress giving our food away to someone else was the fact that she told us it’s not their fault we didn’t get our order. —-We did try to ask for our order, and was told ‘it’s just really busy and it would be out. we went back to check 30min later and was told it was taken out already. I do not recommend— mistakes happen but to blame the customer was unacceptable and no refund to add insult to injury. Can’t comment on the food because we never ate. Really bad attitude and experience all around! Great place if you just want to give money away.

Darts and beer. Chaps talking. And ladywomen talking. And toilets - for those 'emergencies'. Didn't eat. Didn't play darts either. Great pub, friendly and lively. Beer.

Great pub serving delicious food! The chicken wings are just yum! The people running the pub are really sweet too. It’s a bonus cos it’s dog friendly as well.

Was here with my boyfriend and ordered a pizza . Was nice until I found a hair in it . I called the lady over privately to tell her and I thought she dealt with it pretty well and offered us a new pizza or drink. 2 hours later she come over and demanded we got out or she was calling the police . We were shocked as we didn’t do anything wrong . There was a band in there and we was sat the opposite side away from the noise . Do NOT recommend this place at all . This lady has no manners whatsoever. She told me she owned the pub so that’s saying a lot .

The amazing food is let down by the lack of service. There wasn't a welcome as we arrived, we were just stared at blankly (we didn't know they were staff). Only two members of staff waiting on an entire restaurant during a busy Sunday lunch. No repeat drinks were requested, no checking how the food was. And that's even with arriving an hour before the main rush, those tables looked very fed up. A shame because the roasts were fantastic.

Paying £36.00 for 2 ham egg and chips. I won't be back

About 15 tables at the back of the bar and very good pub grub freshly prepared and cooked rather than defrosted and microwaved which is a change. There are vegetarian choices. Chef caters for individual requests too (did my seafood spaghetti with a tomato based sauce instead of cream). Small children's playground outside, plus a substantial covered area with TV outside for smokers. In front of the bar are armchairs and sofas and it is a dog friendly pub. Plenty of parking. Friendly welcome and good service. Wheelchair access.

Staff very pleasant, food, over priced, especially the Ham egg and chips.

This pub has it all: nice bar with an above average selection of beers and cider on tap, bar snacks to full meals, quiet conversation area and sports on TV, outdoor covered seating or garden, a dart board and a children's play area. Nicely decorated with photos of the area 60-70 years ago and bookshelves. The friendly staff make it a very welcoming place, with a fun atmosphere. On site parking makes it an easy choice.

Had Sunday lunch here today and it was brilliant! Huge portions, great value and tasted amazing!!

6 of us ate here on Saturday 5th August after visiting a dear friend in a nearby hospice. From the moment we walked in to the time we left the whole experience was perfect. The service was fabulous and the food delicious and we are so grateful as we had had a really tricky morning. Thank you for being so kind and hospitable

Very family friendly pub, enclosed outside area for children to play. Separate areas located out the front and the back of the premises. Lovely atmosphere and staff are very welcoming and friendly. They have a large car park and disabled access also.

Food and service excellent beer good sit inside or out garden ok

Nice out door seating area, and plenty of parking. They have made a great effort on making it feel intimate. Once inside you don't realise it is next to a busy road.

We met up with friends at Walton-on-Thames camping & caravan site then popped to this pub first impressions was fab then ordered food which was absolutely amazing & the vegetarian option has my wife is vegetarian so next time we are up there again we will definitely be going there again A* & 10 out of 10

Visited the Barley Mow pub in Hersham for the first time on Friday the 13th and had a absolutely wonderful lunch there. We were given a warm welcome by a member of staff and she looked after us very well indeed. A wonderful choice of beers, and a great menu, the food was excellent of course. We did have trouble getting in touch with them, so we took pot luck and just turned up. But the pub is very spacious and there was plenty of room. May we pass on our thanks to the lady who looked after us, and to the pub as well. From Ray,Rosemary, and our dog Susie Table 19 @12 noon on Friday the 13th January.

The Barley Mow arranged the wake following my mother's funeral today. We all agreed the food provided was excellent and the staff very friendly. I would recommend without hesitation this pub for anyone wanting to arrange a similar event.

We popped into The Barley Mow, our new local pub, for the first time for lunch today and we left hugely satisfied. We received a very friendly welcome, were presented with a mouth-watering menu and a perfectly poured Guinness each. The food was excellent and the service was fantastic. We will be back (regularly!).

My God!!!🤩 Brilliant Pub, with excellent food, great beer, and a clean & friendly pub with great atmosphere, also dog friendly as well, if you are passing by or looking for marvelous food, then pop here with family and friends you won't regret it, honestly. I would if I could give the Barley Mow 10 smackeroos stars, but only a high 5 stars ✨ can only be applied.

We had a large group of 5 families gathering fairly last minute for a festive lunch, and not only did they accommodate us but the service provided by the assistant manager (sorry I can't remember her name) was excellent. Food was great, they were so accommodating, service excellent and a great atmosphere. Exactly what a local family pub should be!

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime in September. Large pleasant pub, nice decor, ambiance nice, staff pleasant enough. Decent choice of dishes on menu but all very expensive to my mind. We ordered Chilli and a burger. Food when it arrived was OK, nothing special, the chilli was the usual bland fare offered at such establishments with next to no hint of actual chilli spiciness. When it arrived, are the key words however, the pub was NOT busy, perhaps 6 other tables eating, but the food still took over 40 minutes to arrive.

We were in the area looking to kill a few hours and grab a bite and found this gem. It is friendly and modern pub kitted out for sports. Rugby was on but it's clearly ready for the World Cup Football. It is a family friendly place with a good down to earth menu. Highly recommended.

We booked out an area for our nans 80th birthday with a buffet. The owner was so helpful and organised that it was fabulous. The buffet was reasonably priced and delicious and there was so much food, we offered out the remaining to the local drinkers!!! She also catered for our vegetarians and vegans with a perfect touch of cakes! We couldn’t recommend this place enough, garden area to keep the kids entertained, good priced drink and lots of food with a bonus of the football/rugby for the adult men. Would definitely recommend to hire out the area or even just the friendly and helpful staff that went out of their way to help. The owner (apologies for not knowing her name) was fab!!!! If I could give more than 5 stars for a review I definitely would!!!

What a Shame! Literally walked in and we were waiting to be seated - No one acknowledged us. We decided to look at the menu anyway, and another gentleman came up to us and told us that they had stopped serving food! At 17:30, on a Sunday afternoon - Absolutely Disgraceful.

Great little local pub with decent outside seating booths that have heating too! Lovely staff and plenty on offer with tasty food and plenty of beer selections. Worth a visit if in the area!

Really nice pub with large covered outside area that show the sport. We had a lovely Sunday lunch with lots of wonderful vegetables which other pubs usually scrimp on.

A lovely pub,to have your first pint in, after lockdown. Very pleasant staff. I will be returning. So here's an update. I've had Sunday roast and a Christmas meal there, and they are superb.

Doesn't look like much, on the roundabout/Queensbury, next to the brutalist grey Hersham Place Technology Park. But inside it's an oasis, and even outside you don't notice the traffic noise, you'll be having such a good time. The building was there long before the roads and surrounding 'modern' buildings. The pictures on the walls show it when it used to be thatched. The location was perfect then, and is now for those that know it and want a convenient place to meet up. Plenty of parking space also helps! Be patient, the queues at the bar move quickly 😉

Lovely bar to visit! The workers are very friendly, they creat a wonderful atmosphere to relax and have a good chat with them or other people around you. The people who visit the pub are very friendly also, you can start a a conversation with them and even make some good friends. Would 100% recommend 👌

Farely priced for South West London. My meal (pie of the day) was really good. Everything I'd hoped it would be and more. Timely service in a cozy pub setting! Definitely recommended!

We have not eaten here for over 18 months but as my son and his wife live near we decided to go for Sunday lunch. In the passed it was always busy but well managed and the staff very good. Sunday lunches were delivered quickly and with a smile. This return visit was complete the opposite to any positive experience we had before. The pub was busy but the staff were running around like headless chickens and the one who served us was surly and repeated got an order for a Coke wrong several times. It seemed like it was our fault. The Sunday roasts look 40 mins to appear and one of our party felt sick after eating her lunch about 1 hour later. Overall expensive and not a good experience. Must be under new management. My advise , try a different pub!!

The roast dinners here are lovely. Tasted home cooked and everything was just so tasty. I would highly recommend the gammon roast. Amazing. Will be back again and again.

Just had the Sunday Roast and everything was lovely, Real nice tasty food and beef nice and tender. Good friendly service and our kids love the place too.

Visited today with a friend very disappointed. Waited over half an hour for our meal. Once we got the meal the carrots were raw. Complained to the manager who didn't apologise but said they were ala dente but would have some softer carrots brought to the table. They were no better. Didn't help the fact that a person on another table broke their tooth on a carrot. Ala dente I don't think so.

Finished work late so managed to book last table, very friendly staff, good food with a tad more on the price range, charming pub with plenty space inside ouside

Came here for lunch, drinks were served promptly and service was good. Food took 45 minutes to come out, I had a chicken avocado wrap with chips. Chips were fine, wrap was bland and uninteresting, chicken was dry. For £9 relatively expensive compared to other places near here with less quality.

Nice pub, but same old story lack of experienced staff. But will be back.

This is a pretty charming local pub - very friendly staff and a reasonably priced menu. The food was pretty good, although not mind-blowing. My biggest gripe is that loads of people seemed to be smoking right outside the exit door which is right next to the dining tables. We spent a good deal of our time with smoke blowing directly at us which was very off-putting.
