This was exactly what we were looking for - a good old fashioned English pub. They had a great range of ales and beers on tap. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the setting comfortable. It’s exactly what it appears to be, and it does it very well.

This is my kind of pub. Simple but lovely decor, super nice staff, a good pint and great music playing. I was in during the day so it was mellow, but I can imagine it's much more lively of an evening. Pretty much perfect really.

I had the Sunday roast and the food was excellent, as was the service. The prices are good and the venue is charming. I can highly recommend this place and the food (I don't drink, but I hear the beers are outstanding).

Good place to visit with a large group. A decent selection of IPAs, a small beer garden, and they do food. We were a large group and it worked out well because they have a couple of large tables. The burger and fries were great too.

An interesting little pub situated between an industrial estate and housing, close to Temple Meads train station. Friendly staff and good selection of beers and ciders. I didn't have food, but the burgers looked delicious and were very popular. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a quick bite to eat and want to try some local brews.

A proper pub, no airs and graces, good beer selection and great menu. The pub food was absolutely wonderful! Only visiting the area otherwise I'd be a regular!

Quite location not difficult to park ,had sold of few options kid wise, food was nice and well presented, nice open fire dogs are allowed ,only things was toilet weren't very clean ,bar was very slow on service ,we were all squeezed on a table not much room at all .

We came today for mothers day, this was my first time here and I have to say the roast dinner was absolutely fantastic! We had great service the atmosphere was just right, cosy pub with great little garden out back, If your looking for a banging roast in Bristol, the barley mow, wins!

We stayed in Bristol for the night nearby and needed to find somewhere close on foot to eat before a gig at the Marble Factory and decided to give here a try. The food was great, a limited but tasty menu, both my husband and I went for burgers and they were delicious! Great selection of ales on tap, and also a really good selection of bottled beers. The barman was super helpful with recommendations and we will definitely be coming again when next in the area

Small pub with amazing food and atmosphere differently need to book up for a Sunday roast which will not disappoint, the craft beers are to die for if you enjoy a nice drink.

An excellent Sunday roast at good price. Everything was nicely cooked, with fresh veg, a choice of sauces, and cauliflower cheese available as an extra side. A good range of veggie options. Good range of drinks. Everyone enjoyed their food. Friendly service and relaxed atmosphere with well spaced tables, and a lovely warm fire. We booked for 8 people a couple of days in advance. We recommend and would eat here again when in the area.

We had a sunday roast and it was lovely. Good atmosphere, lovely staff and great place. Felt like at home. Yorkshire pudding a bit small but overall a great place.

Excellent Sunday Roast from Cord Kitchen, the Barley Mow never disappoints

Spent two fantastic evenings here, enjoying a superb roast dinner on the second evening. Even though we were the last orders of the day, the dinners were excellent. Between the four of us, we had venison, pork and beef. All were absolutely amazing!

A delicious Sunday Roast! Really tasty and every thing cooked perfectly. Roast potatoes cooked with rosemary were second to none. The staff are friendly, helpful and very attentive. Great selection of beers and knowledgeable bar staff. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Looking forward to going back!

Good pub and atmosphere with good ales

We had a first class Sunday roast dinner with good ale. Very reasonably priced - definitely good value for money. Excelled service - and with a smile. It’s quite a basic pub - good for drinking as well as eating- but that just adds to its charm.

First visit while on holiday, a fantastic place friendly & welcoming staff , food excellent

Very good selection of beer friendly knowledgeable staff, unfortunately the roast lamb was very disappointing, it was like eating a kebab leftovers with added gravy. Don't have the lamb it comes in a rosti circle of dried ends, wish I had had beef.

I've had many happy visits to this pub over many years and have been happy to pay city centre prices for their beer, because of the selection offered. Service has only ever been adequate and after tonight's visit i must finally comment that the food is always (historically) an overpriced disappointment (apart from the Sunday roast which is an overpriced pleasure) and I won't be fooled again, 🎸🎶 ☹️. 3 stars because of my fondness for the place despite my constant disappointment.

Had the best roast dinner here on Sunday! The pork belly was delicious, with plenty of vegetables, gravy and a big Yorkshire pudding. Will definitely be back and a fab atmosphere to boot

Cute , old fashioned pub with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere, family and dog friendly. We had a really tasty Sunday lunch with all the trimmings. Friendly staff and quick service. Some street parking outside. Absolutely recommend for a meal out. I hear the beer is good too. :)

It was okay. Why though, would they serve your dinner on a plate that is not that much larger than a saucer? The fries fell off on to the table and floor. The size also made cutting the burger using knife iffy. Talking of which, the burger was nothing you couldn't get any where else. Not sure I would go back soon, the food was, well same old same old. People though, yes, really good and nice. I did find the tables too close, with other customers bottoms getting too close to me as I was eating, while they maneuvered around . That was not great.

It balances everything you'd want in a pub experience. Friendly staff, high quality food and nice beers. If you want to avoid the soulless world of gastropubs this is the place for you.

Great pub with a brilliant selection of real ale. The staff were happy to suggest and describe flavours and taste and the drinks were awesome. The kitchen has changed hands since my previous visit, and while quite expensive, I was very impressed woth the quality of the food. We only had fries and chicken tenders but these were delicious and the burgers I saw being served looked tasty. The drinks and bar staff were amazing though. We went on a Tuesday and there was a good pub quiz at about 8pm which I would recommend.

Loved this place. A friend and myself were recommended this place from another pub. And they didn't lie. What a place great atmosphere good local beer and we even had the best German bratwurst since being in Hamburg. Ashley was great to chat to and had amazing knowledge on the local beers and which went best with our food and did not disappoint. Will be back again. 😁😁

I don't usually write reviews but this time I'll make an exception. Good Sunday Roast, acceptable flavor. Totally insufficient chicken ration, I commented to the establishment and they answered me "It is what it is". Don't order chicken, it's not worth it. The portion of beef or pork better. Terrible customer service. I will not come back

Attended for a lovely Sunday lunch, with all the trimmings, fresh veg and Yorkshire's. There are parking restrictions, but it was Sunday so no parking restrictions applied. Good beer, low alcohol beers, and tasty cider.

Traditional British pub with a decent selection of cask beers. Short walk from the Temple Meads train station. Servers were friendly. Toilets were clean.

Nice. quiet out of the way spot, with a good beer selection, modern touch on food and vibrant flow of people who are of all ages and backgrounds. Just plain enjoyable.

Was looking for a pub near the station for a quick bite to eat and couldn’t have chosen better . Great beers with most being local Breweries and a warm welcome . Had the Cord Burger (one Beef, one chicken ) which my wife and I had half each . We both said we couldn’t remember the last time we had such a great burger Highly recommended

Good cask ale and a Sunday roast to go with it. The venison was especially good. Pity I opted for the beef, which was still perfectly fine, but next time, I will definitely be more adventurous.
