Quite often pop in early Sunday morning. Good coffee and it’s clear that a lot of locals and regulars attend. It’s nice to see so many people greeting the staff and each other

Didn't appreciate the service, when I asked my second question about the food label that wasn't clear from outside the fridge, rather than checking, the guy said, here is the allergen list! All I wanted was for him to tell me what was written on that display label. This was Sunday and very quiet.

Yesterday I popped in for a quick coffee, they asked me if I was OK, I told them that my husband was in hospital having had a bad fall, they were so kind, and gave me a coffee and croissant on the house. I don't think they will never know what that meant to me. Thank you so much.

Just gotta say that the young lady serving early on Sunday morning 11 August was probably the best barista I have ever seen. Coffee #1 is good but she made the experience awesome. On her own with a big queue and no waited long. Courteous, quick, efficient and friendly. 5 star barista.

A very pleasant place to have your coffee. Nice staff, lots of space. Really excellent coffee. We go every week after our class, sometimes twice!

Change your name to coffee#2, as the number one spot belongs to La Scala down the road

A great coffee stop. Deceptively large opening up at the back. The only down point is that it is often frequented by parents and their I'll behaved children.

Awful customer service. We visited for lunch, it wasn’t too busy we were the only ones in the queue. The woman at the till was instantly off with us we asked for a couple of sandwiches which she told us to get ourselves despite the counter being sealed and only able to open from their side. She then rolled her eyes when getting the sandwiches for us. Overall, the staff were all very blunt and rude to us.

Great coffee, food and atmosphere - staff are always friendly and welcoming even when I arrive with a pram etc and they always say hello to my son which makes him smile as an added bonus

Very poor service and the worst matcha lattes I've ever been served. The batista made them with no care and in the wrong type of mug. I came here for a treat with a friend and would not go again.

I wanted to review this cafe today because the two women serving this morning were brilliant! I'm sorry I don't know their names, should have asked, but thank you both for dealing beautifully with an awkward interaction I had with another customer. Details not important, just the fact that you dealt with it quietly, effectively and with kindness. Meant a lot to me. Dead impressed, great job! Textbook example of superb customer service! 🏅🏅🏅 The coffee was great, flat white, the pain au chocolat average 🌻

Lovely coffee and food- however staff have little care (talking to other staff instead of serving)and take ages to make simple drink

The service is absolutely terrible. Took well over 15 minutes to order our drinks as the staff are so slow and were more interested with chatting to the people in front of me in the queue even though they had already ordered. The staff are so miserable. I watched the lady start to pour my coffee and then she just left out of nowhere and someone else had to finish off pouring the drink ??? They missed out the syrup from my coffee so it literally was not worth waiting for. Just go to Costa this place is awful.

Staff were not at all interested and the service was incredibly slow. Dirty cups etc on almost every table.

Perhaps they were having a bad day. The staff were not friendly and the cakes were stale. They wouldnt offer a refund for the cake instead just offering me another stale cake slice. I was told "this is happening allot recently". Not the end of the world but spent my money there and left feeling annoyed.

Pretty good food and coffee....

great service but i rated it only 3/5 because i ordered a bacon BAP at 2pm on 20 May and when i asked for it to be warmed up you can see the little care they took of the bacon as only one side of the bacon was cooked and BURNT (attached in the photos) and the other side of fhe bacon was undercooked bread was tasty though

Ok but I do hate standing and waiting for my order.

Nancy, who was the most incredible barista, chatted to me whilst I was awaiting such a nice latte. She made laugh so much, and was so welcoming and created the most warm and environment I have ever felt. This is by far, the best Coffee #1 I have ever been to. 10/10 for Nacy and Coffee #1. Very disappointed in our visit to Coffee no. 1 in Henleaze today. After some shopping in Henleaze my wife and I were looking forward to coffee and using the loo at C no. 1. To our surprise both (and the only) toilets in C no.1 were out of order. Coffee was nice, but we had to use the toilet in the Lounge restaurant, next door but one. Fortunately the Lounge is part of a scheme that allows non customers to use their loo. Both came away thinking might as well give the Lounge our custom in future if C no. 1 can't keep the toilets working. Kev M

Sat in back room. Like many places now, there appears need for music. It was hard to have conversation as loud. In fairness they switched down slightly at my request. Why do staff feel loud music so necessary. It would put me off going again

Whenever I’m In the area and come in for a coffee early in the morning, there’s always a queue of 5 people, with one person behind the counter. Coffee#1 need to get their act together! However, no point writing to them, no one ever replies! BAD MANAGEMENT at the top!

It was freezing in here and very tired. Coffee was ok

Nice ambience and very good coffee. Only 1 member of staff serving today so I queued for nearly 10 minutes. There were 9 people waiting to be served when I left! 10.12.22 7 people queuing Infront of me today & about a 10 minute wait to be served. When will the owners (Nero) put customer service first? 28.02.23 Visited mid-morning. Very noisy to begin with, lots of mums and babies. Quitened down after about 111. Coffee and cake (mocha & maple syrup flapjack) as good as ever! Queue duration OK today

Great coffee shop with a community feel

Recently moved to the area and was looking for a new coffee shop. Found this one and even though part of a chain had a great community feel to it. Believe a new manager is in place who is working wonders to turn it around.

I bought a coffee for my self which was good. There was an elderly man who did not have any money so I paid for his coffee and tart. Not even a thank-you from the man but the staff said thank you to me.

Cosy local cafe feel despite being part of a chain. Very friendly and helpful staff for you, your friends, family and dog. Great tasting coffee. Sometimes a queue due to its popularity, despite other coffee options nearby. Way bigger inside than you might expect with a large comfy seating area at the back. Space for your buggy or your laptop! If you are new to the area definitely worth checking out.

Decent coffee and cakes, but the service is slow, confusing, and not so friendly. Coffee in takeaway cups even though we were clearly staying in (not the only ones in takeaway throwaway cups). The toilet was the real let down. Although the actual toilet was clean, the floor was wet and slippery and there was black mould all over the window and some of the tile grouting, clearly not had a proper deep clean in months. Needs a good deep clean and frequent cleaning.

Amazing service from Claudia. The place is completely understaffed and their was a huge queue, but the coffee and cake was good. There was only won Barrista in their and she was doing everything. Literally everything, she was lovely and kept the whole place moving, thank you Clauda. You deservie a raise!!!

Have just left this shop totally disgusted at the service or lack of it I think is a better description. Thank we were not the only ones as two family’s left with us. Manageress left me standing there while she ordered her lunch she told me that was what she was doing. My son stood at the end for service waiting for a tea that never arrived. After 20 minutes we gave up so did the rest of customers. We all walked to Costa where we got greeted and served. Will never go back just to appalling.

I love Coffee 1 as many do who live in the area. Lovely atmosphere, great coffee and good cakes BUT. Sometimes it is really dirty to an unacceptable level. The toilets this morning are a state!!

Great coffee. we had a hot chocolate and a decaf mocha and the taste was really good. It is very different the taste from all the coffee#1 but this one was actually really good. It has a nice terrace for the sunny days and a big zone with lots of tables and sofas with books also. Good staff and eficient.

Good Coffee#1. although the one in Clifton Down probably has the upper hand this one has a more lively vibe with Christmas music soundtrack. There is an window opening in the ceiling at the back of the place which gives natural light to almost every spot of the room. We had a hot chocolate and a decaf mocha and both were great. Very busy on a Sat afternoon so a couple more table would be handy to avoid having to share table with randomers.

Can you please ask your staff to move away food when they are using cleaning spray? Unbelievable! It would be nice as well if they change gloves after cleaning. Not very safe to clean and then put cakes on the cabinet for the following day. Does Health& Safety ring any bell?

Normally love a Coffee#1 so when we were on our lunch hour and saw this one on Henleave highstreet we were very happy however after standing at the counter for a good amount of time and being completely ignored, we walked out. We were going to order 3 coffees and cake, and we understood the staff were very busy however the girl at the counter just stood in front of us and didn't even acknowledge our presence, a simply Hello, we will be with you in a moment wouldn't have hurt. Won't go back there again

Visit several coffee 1's. Sad to say we were here on Sunday 23rd September. Great service and coffee, just didn't like watching the male member of staff scratching his head , rubbing his eyes then wiping his nose in the back of his hand, then carried on serving. Didn't wash hands after. So glad the young girl served us.

Love this place. Great suburban coffee house. Aways a great atmosphere.

Ask for a white coffee and get the Spanish inquisition (you know exactly what white coffee is, so don't play the 20 questions game - save that for the hipster crowd who appear to care).

Good coffee is rare, good coffee handled well is even rarer. This place has both. I can count the number of places I've had good coffee on one hand, here's one of those places. Not burned, expertly made and the flavour notes they say on the menu? Actually prevalent on the palate. Proper nice. But not pretentious, its so friendly and welcoming here. PS I got a proper ceramic cup, with saucer, no depression inducing plastic cup to drink my espresso - as has happened in places near by... I'll be back here :D

Of all the coffee1 brand I find this one sloppy. There attention to your coffee is poor and often in your saucer!

Really nice bright and comfortable coffee shop. The coffee is much nicer than Costa and the selection of other refreshments is good. Would suit any age.

Whilst waiting for my physiotherapist appointment ... Decided to wait in the warm on an overcast day. A pot of breakfast tea was perfect.

Bit dirty and the pananis' could do with a nice side salad option. Service was ok and food/drink nice enough.

Turned up with my children for a hot drink and cake. The staff listened carefully to my children and offered to make their hot chocolates warm rather than piping hot, which I appreciated. On asking about gluten free options there were several cakes to choose from and the staff volunteered that they use a separate set of tongs to avoid cross contamination. Coffee was great also!

Been here a few times, but this palce is a cut above the others because you can get real coffee here if that is waht gets to you (and it does to me).

Nice buzzy atmosphere. Fairly well distanced. They allow in yappy little dogs - negative points. My coffee was the filter, good taste but weak, they had scimped on the beans.

Great coffee shop very helpful and friendly staff chatty with everyone and efficient at their job. Cafe was clean and tidy and definitely had their fingers on the pulse, each had a job to do and they knew the role they were playing. Have visited a couple of times whilst in the area definitely a place to try.

An excellent example of a very ! good company in 21st century I think, and their chain of 'coffee shops': coffees, drinks wider, various all sorts, and cakes and savouries snacks etc. Pastries, croissant too. Toasted tea cakes and etc. Very keen able young staff, Henleaze, as elsewhere, and who are led by a very good youngish man manager boss, he seems to be to me. Kind but leading a team well. As Westbury on Trym also seems to me, good!! team way with good leader overseeing well: the sort of led team work which is good to be! in, a part!!... and serves the customers very well at August 2021, I think.... Hope it carries on so. He and the team, Henleaze, seem kind and doing their job as one onself might have done far better at such ages, theirs ....of getting on, simply no fuss, good, fine working. Great to see them leading by such example to other younger folk too, starting out in working years and beyond... of kind, hard working as they are able, ways. And seeking to respect the communities and community and folk whom they serve, us each. Thanks ! to them. If there are occasional serving errors at times. ...then : They seek to work such through peaceably and not thinking they must be correct and the customer wrong. But are respectful and keep the peace well. Others in customer service could kindly learn from such skills of diffusing misunderstandings etc and such thoughtful ways kindly given to us all, we imperfect customers who need patience also, kindly. Thanks! to them/ such staff earning their wage well so. I and friends always look out Coffee No 1 where we go, further afield, after getting to know our two close-by locals in Henleaze, and Westbury on Trym Bristol, as both so good, ...we think... over the last 5+(?) years or so. -- Many thanks to all of them, staff folk, and the company heads, for giving us such very good local places and ambience and fayre !! ...and long may we have such great places in our communities, - I ! reckon!! --. As do lots of others I believe think as I do about them at August 2021. One might catch them, -as any of us sadly!- on a less good day, or food or drink not quite! so good, but try a few times, and as things stand Aug 2021 I and others think to be: each should find them very! good for the taste of many of us.

Good service and food was nice. The coffee was hotter than expected for a flat white but the oat milk wasn't burnt or bitter so was fine. Would appreciate some more vegan options though, as other than a "meatball" ragu wrap or a dark chocolate triangle there is a really poor choice compared to most coffee shops these days.

First time back after knockdown and we weren't disappointed. Lovely coffee, great Welsh cakes and friendly staff.

Nice cafe. Spent some time working here and had a frappe and sandwich. Wasn't the quickest service and you can probably find a better drink elsewhere but the pricing is very reasonable and the ambiance is lovely.

Friendly staff, efficient staff, helpful staff, cozy and. Sometimes busy with a que but hay yummy products worth the wait!

Good coffee - menu a little confusing? Friendly baristas and good selection. Would like to see a selection of syrups, either as a list or easily visible, as they have interesting ones such as salted pretzel!
