Happy to learn Colston Arms changed in to Open Arms. The old name is left next to the toilet 🚽 ready to go down the drain or better stays there as a good memorial to rethink the past while having a beer or soda in the lovely secret garden. Unfortunately the website did not mention no food intill September.

Amazing little gem of a pub situated on Saint Michael's Hill Bristol. Friendly staff greet you as you walk in the door... promt service, very busy on match days, lovely secret garden with heaters for the chilly weather we've had, food is delicious and well presented, reasonable prices of beverages/food, great play list of music... overall a fantastic pub with a great atmosphere... is definitely worth a visit.

Was really excited to get a roast here with the reviews but the beef was literally the driest, blandest, hardest, most overcooked clunk of meat ever. Quite disappointed but my friend said her pork belly was really good. Everything else was nice, with large portions. Just the beef was a real let down and I was excited for it.

I am disappointed that the management have capitulated to the very vocal minority of woke snowflakes and changed the name of this long established hostelry. History is history, you can't (and shouldn't) erase it, you should discuss it.

Really nice place, good drinks, welcoming team, lovely clietele. Picked me up after some old Bristol haunts have been victim to 'festivalisation' and lost their charm - the Open Arms was a right tonic & I was happy to spend tge rest of the night there. Helpful & knowledgeable bar crew made us welcome & introduced us to a few spirits I'd not tried before. Will definitely return !

Shocking customer service - I was given a pint which had a thick black hair on the head - asked for it to be re-served in a fresh glass as the bar tender let out a huff of irritation. If you work in hospitality, you need to be hospitable and asking for a pint to be served should go without question or attitude in this event. An apology would be appreciated.

We were going to an appointment at the oncology department and decided to have an early lunch. We identified the Colston Arms as being nearby with exactly what we wanted in food and drinks. We arrived a few minutes before 12 noon and expected to wait until opening time at 12.00. A man came out and when I asked if they were opening soon he was brusque to the point of rudeness. We are now having lunch at Zero Degrees, where we received a warm welcome and who seem happy to take our £30.

I Wasn't too sure of this place when I looked it up mainly due to the photos online.. It looks like a real old gents pub and wasn't sure if it would have anybody intl there.. but on my first visit to meet a good friend I soon realised this is part of the character of the pub, old.. young everyone's in there having a time. Just nice people great atmosphere and lovely bar staff. A brief chat with the chef on the first NIGHT I was in and she said she doesn't mind working over if I'm needing food. That as first impressions is a nice touch. Today was my second visit just for a couple of after work drinks solo, I'd already eaten so wast looking for food but the smell from the kitchen was enough to entice a greedy Yorkshire man like myself to order again! I chose the Pork Poutine as I'd been recommended and... ....All I can say is comfort food!!! It reminds me of Cullen Skink, a smoked haddock winter warmer from the Highlands where I usually live, but not by taste, just the good feeling of eating something that makes you want to be at home eating in front of a movie. Lovely little venue with outside seating great staff throughout and a good bar menu, will definitely be back to try more of the menu!! Thank you! Excuse the photos.. it might not look worthy of a review but this is just good basic tasty food to be eaten and not just photographed for likes!!

Oh wow!! What a lovely place. We visited here for the first time on our yearly trip to Bristol and it was wonderful. It's in a nice pretty location at Clifton village, by a little quant street with other eateries and pretty shops. It had a really lovely vibe. We sat outside and soaked up the atmosphere. Very relaxing. The lady who served us was so welcoming and friendly and gave us plenty of time to choose (so many delicious things to choose from it took us a while!!) The cafe is pretty inside, it also has a little shop area selling gifts and house things. There is such a wonderful selection of vegan cakes and drinks. The cakes looked amazing. They certainly know how to showcase vegan cakes. I wanted to try all of them 😋 The drink selection was really good too, lots of unusual things to try. The lavender coffee was delicious. All in all, the food, atmosphere, drinks and service was fantastic and we'll certainly return on our next visit to Bristol. This place was a highlight of our visit. Just wish we didn't live so far away....this would be a regular coffee and cake stop for us 😋😋😋

After two years peeing off most of the neighbourhood with noise and litter and building a live music venue, without planning permission next door to residential gardens, these squatters are finally getting the boot. Shame that the charity that own the building are now heavily out of pocket.
