The Balti House in Nottingham

Fantastic first visit to this lovely restaurant, Sam was so welcoming instantly putting you at ease, and was super friendly and chatty. The food was delicious and served piping hot and was plentiful. Our 1st time here at one of the oldest Indian restaurants in Nottingham - and why did we leave it so long....?!? From a very friendly greeting from Bash & Sam to a lovely send off, this was a thoroughly enjoyable meal & visit. Food was to die for, the chicken puri is huge (& delicious). I had the patro chicken ( apparently the only place in UK serving it) for something different- wow! Fabulous dish, I had it Madras strength but spiced up how you want it. We'll definitely be back (to try Peru specials!!). Take away available too. Many thanks

Honestly don’t even attempt to go there. Ordered grill and a curry, came specially from Derby. I have never had such a grill in my entire life. Disgusting, could literally see it was warmed up in the microwave. As soon as i tasted the grill i was so ashamed but i had to cancel the curry as i never tasted this kind of food. I’m really sorry to put such a review but this is unacceptable.

Poor quality. Not worth the price they are charging. Left meal in the middle because was not good. No flavour and not much quantity. I will not recommend this place.

been here from derby to eatout with friends but i was very disappointed about the food quality they serve ive oder the grill and was like is was heated in the microwave and has no taste at all so just left without even eating the main course which i cancelled

Even though it was a quiet Monday night, we had a great time visiting the Balti House Nottingham. A superb host Sam, with superb food. I could have licked the plate clean. I will definitely be back!

We were the first customers of the evening due to going to a show at Motorpoint Arena. We were warmly welcomed despite how cold it was the restaurant soon warmed up. The food, service was lovely 😍. We highly recommend and if we didn't live so far away in Stoke would be regular customers. Thank you for making us so welcome 😍

Firstly the customer service was warm and welcoming really make u feel at ease, then there’s the food, everything is so tasty it’s like an explosion of spices for ur pallet too explore, would defiantly recommend eating here 10/10 Best way I can explain the place is family warmth.

We had a lovely curry I had chicken madras other half had chicken korma. Thoroughly enjoyed it. a great chat with owner had a good old reminiscences about old Indian restuarants in notts .poppadoms with Terry and bash great lads. Hymalaya and koh i noor thi k spelt that wrong. Will be back when go back nottingham visit .was about 6 months ago when we last went

I've been planning to give this old favourite a visit for a while chicken pathia & rogan, food was excellent & good to catch up with Sam & Bash.

I saw the reviews for this restaurant and booked a table to see if the reviews were true, the food was amazing! There was 3 of us that went, we ordered from the vegan menu and we all walked away very happy with all the food we had. I highly recommend going here and will definitely be going back.

I've been several times to this restaurant as I was attracted by the breadth of the menu and inclusion of mixed vegetable options for most of the curries, as I find these to be more satisfying than the usual 'veg side dishes'. I have now tried the vegetable balti, vegetable madras and vegetable dhansak. Next time, the jalfrezi. The curries have a good amount and good mix of vegetables with a delicious sauce. The mark of a good veggie currie is that it's better than the meat options and I find this to be the case here. Thanks Sam!

Rogan Josh was to die for! Went here for date night as tried every other Indian restaurant and takeaway in the Nottingham area and this place beats them all. We was greeted at the door and shown to a table where we was served with popadoms whilst we waited for our food. The service was AMAZING and felt like the most welcome atmosphere in Nottingham. I would recommend this place to EVERYONE as it’s authentic food where as a lot of other places are fake googled recipe and use food colouring.

Try the Peru dishes! It's good to see a curry house with a twist and a few actually unique things on the menu! Delicious meal, very friendly and personal service. We tried the "Peru inspired" Creamy Rogan josh which was delicious, and very different to a run of the mill curry, and a nice story to go with it too. We also the meat balti which again was great, not too spicy but really nice. We have been meaning to visit for a while as actually our local but now we have tried we will back again really soon. :)

Great food, and lovely hosts! I've been visiting The Balti House every once in a while since the nineties, and every time the curries have been consistently good, as well as being great value. Well worth a visit, especially for their signature Patro chicken 👌

Wow is all I can say. I had seen some good reviews so I thought I would give The Balti House a try. The best Indian meal I have had for years. Chicken Puri was amazing fluffy bread and well spiced and flavoured chicken, the main meal was equally as good. Kema nann was well cooked with just the right amount of spice. The host was fantastic really friendly and chatty. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Nottingham.

Ordered on Deliveroo, order wasn't accepted for 20 minutes, I rang the restaurant to see if they were accepting delivery orders to which I was informed to use a different delivery app for no reason, I explained that deliveroo is stating that the restaurant needs to accept the order, they answer below is what I was given: "Well why don't you get a taxi and I'll make up the order for you with a discount of £5 then that's equal isn't it?" Don't use a delivery app if you're not gonna accept orders on it.....

Life on the road takes me to a lot of places. Tonight’s is Nottingham and I was in the mood for a curry. I called the Balti house and they explained that they do not deliver. The man on the phone asked where I was staying and agreed that he would get my food to me. I ordered a lamb madras that was cooked just right, the lamb fell apart in your mouth and the spice an flavour we’re on point. The onion bhajis were to die for and the the naan was cooked to perfection. Only slight problem was that my garlic and cheese naan did not seem to contain either garlic or cheese but the food was so good it didn’t even matter! The delivery man was also very friendly and thanks to the balti house I have had a happy stay in Nottingham. If only all things in life were as easy and pleasing as the balti house. 😁

Came yesterday and the service was amazing! They also let you bring your known alcohol too. It’s been open for years and you can taste why. I finally found somewhere in nottingham that serves a dish that made me sweat! It’ll be seeing me again

Well what can I say? Food was beautiful, their speciality dishes were also amazing! The gentleman Sam was amazing front of house. He also shows great passion in the restaurant and food. I am from Wolverhampton and was not planning to back to Nottingham but after trying this restaurant I feel ill have to come back sooner and bring some of my friends and Family :)

I order a salmon Balti, when it was served i found a long hair in my food. After a new dish was made, it came back as a chicken Balti. Finally I got my salmon Balti and ended up with gut rot! Avoid this place.

Excellent value stater somosa and my wife had vegetable pokora for main chicken Balti was very like home cooking, my wifes chicken tikka masala was really nice. I had naan an my wife had rice. fantastic value you need to be there before 7 pm to eat this special deal.

Best price for a quality food, this restaurant main starts from £7 an stater around £3. Went on a Monday they were closed, went in on Tuesday they were ooen, Sam goes they r only operating Tuesday to Saturday, Sunday Monday closed. Friendly service

Even with the reduced COVID menu the food options were excellent. All the food was so good. I don’t normally eat Indian but my mum wanted to go and the food was superb. The team were so friendly and helpful too

I'm originally from Birmingham and have always had amazing curries from the Balti Triangle. Since moving to Nottingham I have been struggling to find a good curry, but finally with the Balti House I have found it!The Balti House is without a doubt the best curry I have tried in Nottingham (and I've tried a lot!) The food is delicious and fantastic value, but honestly the best part is the service from Sabbir. He is always so friendly, and often throws a couple of extra dishes in as a treat.I really can't recommend the Balti House enough, and recommend it to anybody who wants authentic Indian or Balti dishes.

Excellent curry for a reasonable price. Over half century old Balti House is pride of Nottingham. Book a table and try a new starter called Thong. Cannot fault this place. See you soon!

I didnt enjoy the food. Too much ghee. I asked for sparkling water and they didnt have any. Was offered tonic water which I couldn't drink as it was warm. Very pleasant host

Balti House Nottingham is really a famous restaurant. This restaurant introduced a new vegan set meal which is perfect for everybody is really cheap and tasty. Personally I recommend everybody to taste this new vegan meal and please don't forget to take opportunity to make it non-veg by little extra money.

I am really amazed to have new vegan set meal at absolutely low price. This is new addition of Balti House and nice option to make it non-veg meal with little price add-on. Taste is of course finger licking. Highly recommend for all.

The last day in Nottingham, we 3 people tried 3 main dishes, all of which were awesome: Puri prawn, Bhuna chicken and something meat. All the sauces were so delicious and can be eaten with the rice and pan cake (can't remember the precise name of that pancake in Indian :)) Highly recommend! Feel like you can randomly choose anything and still have great experience :3

The food was amazing, especially chicken tikka masala and goan fish jalfrazi. The restaurant was cozy and comfortable for an evening meal. I would highly recommend this place.

I visit the Balti House regular and have been doing so for a number of years.The Host, Sam makes you feel very welcome every time. He will always find time to have a chat with you.The food is always excellent. I have tried a few of the starters and a few of the mains.I have never had reason to complain about anything. On my last visit Bangla Beer was back on the menu (My favourite Indian Beer) although I do have Cobra when Bangla is unavailable.The location of the restaurant is excellent with it being so close to the city centre and the trendy Hockley Quarter area. Balti House have been trading on the same site for 50 years this year and I would recommend anyone to visit.The restaurant is also very clean and the tables are spaced out in guidance for social distancing.

Creamy Lamb Jalfrazi of Peru style is excellent. After serving 50 years Balti House is struggling during this covid 19 we all need to support this wonderful place, Good luck Sam see you soon.

What a sweet night we had, specially during this restricted time. The food was excellent. The service was good and the host was very friendly. The restaurant is cosy. Will come back here again!

Never again. Ordered takeaway tonight: food was massively late. Arrived with cold but also undercooked chips, wet and raw samosa, rank tasting and smelling chicken tikka, and mixed chef's starters that were cold, rubbery, unappetising and possibly also undercooked. Disgusting. And when I called to complain was told it was all my fault for using Uber Eats and I was just imagining the food was undercooked. Ended up cooking my own tandoori chicken, garlic nan, chips and salad in about half an hour and it was delicious. Sorry that I won't get my £30 back because this restaurant and Uber Eats are useless money-grubbing swine, but hey ho.

Mi compañero y yo fuimos aquí ayer para un pollo con mantequilla y pollo Tika Masala. Lo primero que noté fue lo amable y alegre que era el dueño. El ambiente era muy relajante y agradable y la comida era absolutamente genial. ! Nos aseguramos de venir aquí todos los meses. El tamaño de las porciones era muy bueno y la variedad de opciones era muy agradable de ver. También hacen opciones vegetarianas y veganas, están muy atentos a sus clientes. Los estudiantes preguntaron si podían hacer algún tipo de trato (en la foto de abajo) y se les ocurrió uno de inmediato. Se lo recomendaría a todos, han existido durante 50 años y es obvio por qué.gracias por una gran experiencia y por ser tan amable. Nosotros realmente lo apreciamos.

Afuera, maldita sea, de pie. Inventiva, increíblemente satisfactoria y * bellamente * aromatizada. Cocido a la perfección genuina. Realmente generoso y también con los pies en la tierra. El propietario (Sam) incluso hizo un esfuerzo adicional para servirnos algo que normalmente no está disponible para llevar. No solo obtienes curry increíbles en Balti House, también obtienes carácter y encanto a raudales. Me encanta aquí. También es un catering ideal para veganos, tiene un menú claro con toneladas de opciones espectaculares.

¡The Balti House ha sido el restaurante favorito de mi madre durante años! Sam es tan encantador y la comida es increíble. No encontrará este nivel de servicio al cliente en ningún otro lugar, ¡es un ambiente tan cálido! Visitamos durante la iniciativa de salir a comer para ayudar en agosto después de no visitar en familia durante meses debido a la pandemia y fue fantástico. El restaurante está impecable, con mesas dispuestas para mantener el distanciamiento social y se limpia y desinfecta periódicamente. Recomendaría el kebab seekh y el pollo jalfrezi. ¡Van perfectamente con una pinta de cobra!
