A lovely evening with friends, the atmosphere was welcoming, food excellent and wine of the month did not disappoint. The service was friendly and efficient, we would definitely return.

Been here a number of times and always enjoy it. Lovely food - a very generous boeuf bourguignon with a great sauce and very tasty sausage cassoulet - wide choice of wines (the Baron Baussac was bang on) and a friendly relaxed atmosphere. And our server, Roman, was delightful - the right level of enthusiasm and attentiveness.

Been meaning to come here for years .Don't know why we left it so long. Food was beautiful and well executed and good value. Eve the waitress was attentive and friendly. Will becoming back.

Booked last minute after the restaurant we’d previously booked called me to say that they were closing for the night due to a fire! One hour before the table was booked for, and my partner’s birthday no less! Fortunately, what could’ve been a massive drama was turned into a lovely, cosy evening at Le Mistral. These guys really know the meaning of hospitality. We’ve been here many times before, but it had been a while since we came in person. Dare I say, the food may have been the best we’ve ever had here. The Moules Marinière was delightful, the ribeye steak perfectly cooked, and all with the freshest, most perfectly cooked frites you’ve ever tasted. Délicieuse! I’d also like to take a moment to thank the staff. Firstly, the blonde lady (whose name I don’t recall - sorry!) was sorry to hear our other table had been cancelled, and offered us a table for two on short notice, whilst being accommodating enough to offer the moules as a starter (even though it’s not a starter on the menu). I’d also like to take a moment to thank ‘Alex Karolina’, who I believe was working his first ever shift on a trial. We didn’t know he was new until we went to leave, and it’s fair to say we were both shocked! Why? Because he looked at ease, and made us feel so incredibly welcome from the first moment we walked in. He also kindly offered to take a photograph so me and my partner could have a photo together (as did the kind lady) and he was incredibly attentive, warm, and friendly throughout the evening. A great environment is important, as is great food - but great service is what really makes a restaurant. #HireAlex Thank you everyone for a lovely evening, and compliments to the chef! 😊

Sunday lunch delicious. Soft belly pork with perfect crackling. Lemon, garlic and thyme chicken was tasty but tough and a little on the dry side. All Sunday roast sides including the cauliflower cheese were delicious. Creme brulee to die for. Definitely return

We live in the area and it's the one restaurant, among many in the area, that we always return to. Menu doesn't vary hugely although there are "specials".....but the food is well prepared and very consistent....partly down to the fact that the mother and daughter who are the chefs have done so for many years. Decor is very suggestive of a simple French bistro and the atmosphere is relaxed. Do book as arrivals are timed to ensure smooth service.

Got the fixed price lunch menu - 2 courses for £18.95. Superb value and quality. Le mistral is a Sherwood classic

A lovely spontaneous meal in pleasant, faux rustic surroundings. Food was exactly as described and very tasty indeed. Wild Mushroom and Whitebait starters were superb and the Beef Burginoyne was also fantastic. Chicken Casoulet was also reported as excellent. No room for desert.

Absolutely shocked…quickly popped in to see two friends that were having a meal…I asked for three shots of pastis.pernod..went to pay and it was told it was £21.50 …Three Pernod and water £21.50 is disgusting..when I questioned it I was told it was doubles..I didn’t ask for doubles..I Paid without question but I feel uncomfortable and robbed..I work hard for my wages but to have to give it up so easily to Le minstrel makes Mel feel really pissed off..you ripped me off and it’s disgusting…

Lovely meal and great service from Elsa. Food here is always excellent and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. Definitely a local favourite for us.

During the Christmas period I visited no less than 5 times, one lunch and four dinners. On one occasion I booked a meal for a dozen people from my local WI, several people hadn’t been before and they all really enjoyed the evening. We were particularly impressed by the fact that, despite the size of the group everything was served timely and the food was very hot, this sometimes doesn’t happen when there is a group. The service was great and the food delicious. Thank you to all.

Such a lovely place - we only wanted coffee ( though we have eaten here before) and despite many reserved tables we were welcomed in - very good coffee too. Will be coming back to eat next week!

While visiting family, we went to Le Mistral for lunch. It was delicious, every dish was so tasty. Wish we lived closer, this restaurant would definitely be one of our favourite places to dine.

Our third meal here this year, after 2 birthday dinners, a pre Christmas special lunch. Wonderful tasty turkey, however the veggie lentil Wellington was also superb. All the sides were excellent especially the red cabbage and gravy. Portion sizes were so big we struggled to complete our desserts. Think this will become a standard Christmas tradition .

We used to frequent the city centre restaurant quire often and were really disappointed when it closed. We recently tried the Sherwood restaurant and were not disappointed. The food is delicious, hot when served and the restaurant is very accommodating to slightly altering meals to your preferences. The staff are polite, efficient and the ambience is lovely. Well worth visiting Sherwood to eat here.

Went on Saturday evening for my partners birthday. Weve been plenty of times before, even indulging in the takeout option during lockdown , and NEVER been disappointed. This visit was no difference. Wonderful hosts and service, followed by gorgeous food we both thoroughly enjoyed. My only note would be the haddock could've done with a bit more flavour, but other than that tiny detail, it was a perfect night and we can't wait to come back in January! Visited on Saturday 23/11 early evening, the Pork belly was excellent, staff really helpful and pleasant highly recommended.

Went on a Thursday night for moules frites and could not fault the food or service, would highly recommend and will be back very soon!

Great food, great service - Eve and Karolina were excellent and the ambience was lovely. Fairly reasonably priced for an independent restaurant serving the food they do. Always have a large specials board too!

We’ve been going here for years, this visit was just not as good sadly. Still a lovely ambience and service was good. The menu choice was still good but the food quality and portion size has slipped. The burger used to be fabulous, this time it was very small, still nice but it’s always been indulgent and had the wow factor, it was just an ok burger this time! The fries were not good, they are frozen, sure they used to be home cooked and they weren’t hot enough or cooked well enough and the portion size was small. Unfortunately when standards slip, ratings do, I really hope this was just a blip!

Took my wife for her birthday. Our first visit. We had lunch. Starters whitebait & pate. White was amazing. Never had such crispy whitebait, no head or tails. Beautiful aioli. Main course beef bourguignon & chicken bordelaise, both delicious. Sweets crème brûlée and apple flan. Both delicious. All washed down with a lovely bottle of Viognier. Great value food and service. Highly recommended will definitely be going again.

Four of us had a wonderful meal at Le Mistral last Wed (30th Oct 2024). The service, the atmosphere and above all, the food were excellent. We eat here on a regular basis and have always enjoyed a fantastic experience! Just about to book another table!

This is a MUST if you're in the area! The food was fantastic, it's a cozy little place, the food smells are amazing and everything we had was incredible. The Porc Boulangere was so tasty, French Onion soup - yummy also! We highly recommend!

Food pretty average on he new menu . The waiter was awesome ,the manager not so . Best thing was the polite waiter food average menu ,seems a little bit downhill to me . I think you should promote the waiter to manager and you might see some changes .

Always a lovely experience, whether for an informal meal during the week or a special occasion. Food, service and atmosphere are excellent and they always try to accommodate if you haven't booked in advance. The bouillabaisse is not to be missed!

For a good French meal at reasonable price you can’t beat this well established restaurant in Sherwood. I always enjoy my visits here. The portions are good size, well presented with quick and efficient service. My meal this evening was coq au vin at £15.95. It’s always best to book as it can be busy especially at the weekends. The service good, the space is comfortable with nice atmosphere when busy. I shall definitely return.

We booked this restaurant for my wife's birthday against my wishes as wasn't happy last time I was here with friends,with out fail they ruined the reservation again ,.attitude towards pre order people arriving from all over UK some in between flights, being told no pre order no seating for that person then big time change from our reservation, it was a one horse place attitude last time I was here and nothing changed before we put our foot through the door, I over heard the level of conversation towards my wife from "the manger".well iam very glad you don't manage my business with that level of attitude ,with that one call to the Polish across the road big warm welcome and looking forward to seeing us yet again,all home cooked fresh food no pre orders

Went to eat here on the 11th Sept,my wife ordered the chicken burger,to be fair she said it was nice,I ordered a rib eye steak,what arrived was a lump of brown gristle and fat,after I cut all that off I was left with a mouthful of very poor quality meat as tough as old boots,it was awful,whoever your supplier is I would have a quiet word or buy in Irish beef,I have never been asked to pay for such rubbish,but your chef must know this also,what is going on in his head to dish this up to customer,it was not fit to feed to a dog,in fact my dog would not have eaten it,I gave you two stars because the young girl serving was very nice and pleasant.The red house wine burned my wife’s lips it was so acidic,a total waste of time and money.Sorry I won’t be back,I only get my fingers burned once.

We've been here three times in the past month and every occasion has been enjoyable. The staff are friendly, the restaurant is intimate and traditionally decorated and the menu is varied and consistently excellent. There's plenty more on the menu that we will be making return trips for!

My mother in law took me and my husband here for lunch and it was such a treat! All of the food was perfectly cooked and delicious. The two course special is incredible value and the food quality is exceptional. We had whitebait which were perfect, followed by an absolutely delicious cow au vin and finished with the apple Tarte which was really special. The service was ridiculously good - the gentleman that served us (maybe the owner) was so kind and could see that one of our party was a bit slow eating and really gave us space and time so no-one was feeling rushed or self conscious. This is truly a rare and very appreciated service which was above and beyond. Thanks for making it a really special and comfortable memory for us. Thanks again le mistral!

Had the Sunday Roast with my wife and daughter and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. It came with a good selection of vegetables and was cooked beautifully. The service was also exemplary. We have been before and we will certainly go back the next time we visit Sherwood.

What a wonderful bijou french restaurant in the heart of Sherwood. I had heard of the place but had never been before so I was more surprised that it was listed as good Sunday lunch place. I've very glad we trusted that as the food was delicious. I had the crispy belly pork which very much satisfied my need for Sunday lunch while the other dish and puddings were excellent too.

I had a great experience here in 2019 and thought I would come back all the time as so delicious. 2024 I’m back again… ordered the coq au vin which is advertised as comprising chicken legs… which are large, tender and juicy and the cut of choice for traditional French recipes. In reality I was served three very tough chicken drumsticks. Very disappointing as I cooked much better coq au vin from scratch using a bbc recipe a few years ago and the chicken was so tough. I thought I had found a good value for money meal but really it was not great and I would not come back for this dish. Nothing special at all.

Lovely food and lovely service . But the poor staff had to concentrate more on the takeaway orders that was being served up right infront of us . Restaurant was empty but we didn't feel like we got the attention you should get when out for a meal . . No more a Restaurant sadly more like a takeaway 😢

We decided to go here to celebrate my partner's graduation and we are so glad we did. This restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and was very cosy. Service was great and the food was even better. I had the mussels and it was some of the best I've had! There were no closed or empty shells served, so i didn't have to go through and discard any, which honestly I have had to do at every other restaurant I have ordered mussels at. It may seem like a small thing but it made a big difference! The portion size was also perfect. I enjoyed a French rosé here too which was delicious and everyone else seemed to really enjoy their food too. Overall I really recommend!!

5 of us came for Sunday lunch and three of us chose the Sunday roast the others were able to choose off the main menu. The food was plentiful and tasty. The place was cosy and friendly and service was good. We will certainly come again.

This was an exceptional night. We went when they had a huge party in but the service was great still and our food was prompt and DELICIOUS. This isn’t the first time we have been because of the quality, and we were not disappointed at all.

We came here for my birthday meal and we had a great meal. Adam the chap that served us was very helpful and couldn’t have done enough for us. The food was great and the kids portions were good sizes too.

Great steak, really good flavours and fantastic service, would highly recommend. Nice small restaurant with good selection of drinks.

The first time I had the fixed price lunch here. Had a phone call to check I was still attending. We were early but it was not a problem, the food was lovely and tasty. Service was great and very attentive. Lots to choose from on the menu. Quite a mix of folks arriving, but still plenty of tables free. I would like to go again in the evening next time.

Le Mistral is completely unique. A really gorgeous pared back little treasure of a place. I love the informality and the look and feel. The service is always so great, attentive, warm and professional. Onto the food. Amazing. Never fails to be incredible. It’s rich (but not heavy) full of flavour with layers of different tastes. In my opinion it’s the best Sunday roast lunch around. Such a thoughtful combination of flavours. My only gripe this time was a very large family party (the whole length of the restaurant, maybe 16 people), who were understandably noisy. You’re allowed to have a good time celebrating, but this didn’t bode well for a civilised Sunday lunch. It was hard to hear ourselves talk. I can see why local independent businesses are not going to turn away business. And this absolutely won’t deter me from returning again and again. I just might check before if there are any large groups in ..

Always great food at Le Mistral! Sadly today’s delivery order of roast dinner was mixed up with another order and we got beef instead of pork. It was delicious but not what we ordered. Adam at the restaurant was very apologetic and dealt with the issue perfectly. These things happen and it won’t put us off ordering/visiting again

We were able to book the same day for a time within 30 mins of our ideal time. The food & service were both exemplary and they catered very well for a gluten-free guest - even to the point of having gluten-free bread in stock.

Adam (the gentleman who served us) matched our energy brilliantly with brilliant and truthful tips. Wow wow wow best soup ever had! We come here often for dinner and you have to pre book as everyone knows it's one of the best places to eat in the area but the lunchtime is a little easier to just drop in and has beautiful specials and french music playing. I have never been disappointed eating here it is a magical experience 😁

We had a fabulous time here tonight with the most delicious food. Adam was incredible, very personable and was chatting & laughing the night away with us. Wonderful personality. He made our night very special for my 27th Birthday meal with my partner. Joanna was the chef and the food was so fresh, flavourful and so well presented. You will not be disappointed in any aspect by a visit here for a casual meal or a special event. Thank so much to everyone involved. We will be making this a spot to keep coming back to for many events to come. You will not regret coming here for a date night or a family meal!

My partner and I have been here a couple of times and one thing we always mention is the service. The service is impeccable! They are so friendly and the service is also quick. The food is delicious, we had the beef bourbignon and linguine. Was absolutely beautiful! Definitely one of the best restaurants in Nottingham! You won’t be disappointed

Gorgeous food, lovely warm atmosphere and most importantly it always is. Never had a meal that wasn’t exceptional here - it’s the yearly anniversary level of experience - and we always will as long as it’s here.

Booked a table for dinner on Sunday 3rd March.. We have been there many times before and although some of the staff have changed, it was still as wonderful as ever. Good food and great service. Always a beautiful experience and lovely food, one of my favourite restaurants in Nottingham. The mussels are always top tier, and the staff will make the main a sharing starter if you ask nicely!
