Just had a wonderful meal with excellent service here. I recommend the sea bass. I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu. If you want high quality food at reasonable prices and a quaint atmosphere please try this restaurant.

A beautiful place. Love the fact they have carpeted flooring, it's gives a real homely warmth to the atmosphere. I belive it was Daina who served us. She is ever so lovely and friendly. We were slightly disappointed that they dont do escargo or frogs legs but the food that we did have made up for that feeling of loss. The sauces for the dishes were the best sauces I've ever eaten and never have I ever had such a moist and succulent piece of chicken! All was beautiful! Would definitely recommend.

We went on Saturday 16th July to celebrate two family birthdays. What an absolute delight. A warm welcome by Daina, she made so welcome. The food was stunning. You could taste that the food was prepared and cooked with a passion. Also would recommend the house red, it was fabulous. At the end of the meal it was lovely to meet Mark, the chef and have a foodie chat. This gem of a reataurant in Sherwoods main high street is a gem, and is definately worth a visit. We shall return soon.

Friendly staff, excellent meal - I really couldn’t fault it! We enjoyed sitting in the garden to finish our wine after the meal.

Tonight's Dinner Marc and Dainas Sherwood French Restaurant This restaurant has been here for nearly 20 years and this was our first visit, located next to Ginza. It's soley run by a Husband Chef and Wife front of house you can guess their names. We were walking past one night and only noticed them because they have had a new brightly lit shop front. In their window we saw they do an early evening 3 course set price menu for £18.50. We had Starters Mushroom Basket Chorizo & smoked cheese Salad Mains Grilled chicken chasseur sauce Steak Stroganoff with spiced Rissotto Came with a bowl of veg Desserts Baked cheesecake with a shot Irish cream Passion fruit Creme Brulee It's old school dining with good home cooked french food. The portions are good too. There was one table taken when we arrived but it soon filled up quickly. It's worth a visit if your in the area. We shall definitely return.

Love this restaurant, certainly the best in Sherwood. The food is very tasty and cooked fresh. The hostess is excellent. How we have missed this restaurant over the years is beyond us, but certainly our number 1 place to go in the future.

I don't particularly like leaving poor reviews for places, especially small, family run establishments. Unfortunately, as the issues were completely avoided by our waitress whilst in the restaurant, I feel compelled to leave a review. The place was nice enough, although the music was too loud and the place smelled slightly musty. The waitress was polite, took our order and the meal started out well with our starters which were both very nice. The problem started with the main course. We both ordered the confit of lamb which is one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. When I tasted it, it was so unbelievably dry, tough and did not taste at all like lamb. I told the waitress that the lamb was incredibly dry only to be told that "It's a confit, it's supposed to be dry, it's cooked for two and a half hours and it's just different tastes, some people like their lamb well done." She then walked away. Okay so let's back up a minute...firstly I am actually French so I know full well what a confit is! I know for a fact, having eaten confit many times in France, that confit is anything but dry! Quite the opposite in fact, confit meats cook and tenderize with virtually no moisture or flavour loss - the meat is well done but not at all dry. Confit is supposed to be moist, tender and full of flavour; it's so tender that it falls apart on your plate and melts in your mouth. This wasn't a case of lamb well done, it wasn't a confit either, nor was it about 'different tastes'; it was simply a very overcooked, dry, tough and flavourless piece of meat, which quite frankly for a French restaurant is pretty poor. The red wine jus that accompanied it was nice and the veg were OK, but neither of these made up for the fact that the lamb was absolutely terrible. I couldn't eat mine at all, my partner ate his and some of mine mainly for not wanting to throw £34 down the drain. As for the crêpes suzette, I'm really not sure what they were either. Wasn't crêpes suzette that's for sure! Some may like them, they weren't terrible, they just didn't taste like crêpes suzette. The crêpes were too thick, sweet and soggy (not thin, slightly crispy on the outside French crêpes), there was too much sauce, they didn't look or taste like they'd been flambéd (they certainly weren't flambéd at the table, which of course they should be) & I couldn't taste the Grand Marnier. I'm not sure what the other dishes on the menu are like, they seem to have a lot of good reviews so I guess there must be some things they're good at. All I can say is avoid the lamb at all costs! As for us, we won't be eating here again.

What a great little restaurant. We had a warm welcome from the waitress who was friendly and very attentative. The restaurant was small but cosy. The food was delicious and well served . The service was second to none. The wine was good. And the prices reasonable. This is not a copybook restaurant so if your looking for something different ( French cuisine) look no further you really can't go wrong here. I Heartily recommend this restaurant to you.

I have eaten at 5 star restaurants around the world. The food in this restaurant is on par if not better. Why is this a hidden gem in Nottingham only cane across the restaurant by chance. Highly recommended.

Fantastic place used them for over 10 years always good quality food . Atmosphere is nice and relaxed easy to have a conversation with out all the extra noise you get in some restaurants . Because of lockdown just had a takeaway food still hot and full of flavour

Mi novia y yo fuimos a cenar anoche y lo pasamos muy bien. Tuve la sopa del día seguida por el pato y ambos estaban deliciosos. Mi novia estaba igualmente feliz con sus vieiras y mejillones. Luego ambos disfrutamos generosas porciones de helado de panal de postre. La camarera, Daina, creo, fue amable y muy servicial con respecto a mi alergia a los huevos. ¡Recomiendo encarecidamente visitar!

A real surprise, the food and service was amazing. Freshly cooked with a select menu the people that run the place are also really friendly. This wasn't my first choice, as doesn't look appealing from outside. However I was pleasantly surprised and would definitely recommend going to this place. I'd probably go back on my own.

In response to your reply the the review left titled ‘rude and not interested in Groupon customers’ the table was booked on the 25th January and no where on the restaurant website or The Groupon voucher in terms and conditions did it state that the vouchers would not be valid over Valentines weekend and that it would be a set Valentines menu at a set price. If this was the case these should be clearly stated on your website and on the Groupon voucher. The fact that you weren’t excepting Groupon vouchers over this particular weekend was not the issue, it was the way in which I was spoken too! If I had been spoken to politely and with respect then we wouldn’t of hesitated in re-booking. However from reading your replies to other dissatisfied customers I am a little relieved that we did cancel.

The atmosphere is really dark and dated. There is a constant smell and it is really cold. The food on the menu makes you think the food will be really good but all the 3 courses we had were fail. They just looked good. I was still hungry when we left. Service is really slow as well. On the plus side, the waiter was kind.

After buying a groupon voucher for my sister and husband as a gift, they booked a table for Feb 15th through the groupon app. My sister then called the day before to ask what time she had booked for to be told she hadn’t. The guy on the booking desk was rude saying ‘groupon this weekend - laughed and said no chance’ my sister then called me to explain and had found the booking reference email. I called to try and sort the problem out only to be told the same only this time the guy didn’t laugh but kept sighing to the point I actually asked if I was Inconveniencing him, to which he replied - if you have a problem with the customer service and it’s a groupon voucher, speak with them! I did and they were amazing and gave me my money back! I will certainly not be going again or recommend them to anyone. Shame.

We popped into Marc and Daina's on spec and had a beautiful meal. The mussels for starters delicious and the chicken with a Stilton sauce the most delicious sauce I have ever tasted. Would really recommend.

Went here for my birthday on a Thursday, just 3 sets of 2 including my husband and I. Music 10 out of 10. The belly pork is good but you don't get much.

Yes this is not the most modern place but the food is great. Came with my husband for an early dinner. This is about our 6th visit as we dont live far. We both had a different beef dish and both enjoyed it. If you are unsure about a visit book for early and take advantage of their great value early bird deal.

I dont often write reviews on here, only if I feel it necessary. Unfortunately this is one of those times. We brought a Groipon Voucher 3 course for 2 people - £27 Very reasonable price and good discount we thought - Wrong - upon arriving we noticed a sign in the window saying 3 courses £13.50pp (an early bird type offer) as we were booked at 6.30pm we fell into this time frame and so it seems had received no discount whatsoever via Groupon. On entering the establishment our first impression was that it looked like an ex-chinese takeaway, it was very dark, the whole restaurant was so dated, old fashioned carpet on the floor and a wooden suspended ceiling with the roof beyond painted dark red, 1980s type patterned glass panelling, it was cold (we were not the only ones to think this as one girl on a nearby table put her coat back on and sat there with it on) and the smell of the kitchen all through the restaurant (which I personally dont like, my clothes and hair stunk of cooking when we left) and not a table cloth in sight, just brown varnished wooden tables. I reassured my husband who looked mortified, that the food was probably brilliant (it wasnt but more on that later) We wer seated by a young polite boy and passed the plastic menu folder who explained that the drinks are at the back (they're not, the wine is at the back which neither of us drink) We were then left too long, sat without a drink, before being asked what we wanted to order to drink or eat. The waitress then didnt know what beers or gins you serve (she had only been there 2 days she said so we forgave that) she then asked "what food do you want" not the most polite way to be asked. Drinks came, cheap very fizzy tonic was my first thought, we only had 1 drink each, we made it last. We was not at any point offered table water although glasses seemed to be on the table for that, we could of asked yes, but would have been nice to have been offered. My napkin was dirty. We ordered Mushroom basket & Chorizo and cheese salad to start. My mushroom thing was nice but the side salad was non exciting and absolutely drowned in dressing as the waiter came round with an old wine bottle full of homemade dressing & it glugged out at the speed of light. My husband said his starter was like he'd make at home, which is acceptable, but you dont go out for a meal to eat like you'd make at home. We then had to wait a good 20-30 minutes before our mains came out, I was getting VERY frustrated at this point. Another table that had finished their starters after us got their mains before ours which I thought was wrong. We both had the Beef Cassoulet for main, this was dolloped on the plate which was swimming in gravy. The meat seemed dry an overcooked within the juice, the accompanying dauphinoise were nice, the side of veg were ok, the 2 chunks of fresh orange in there were not to our taste at all with the veg. Whilst eating our mains a couple arrived and sat at the table directly next to us, their faces on arriving spoke volumes and she said to him after being seated "do you want to leave and try somewhere else?" he declined and said the food might be great. She then also commented on how freezing it was in there. For desert my husband had the cheese (£3 surcharge) and i had the double chocolate baked cheesecake. I have a very sweet tooth and love desert, not this one, I couldn't taste chocolate at all, all I could taste was cinnamon, it was served with a watered down tot of Irish cream which just basically washed around the plate, I couldn't eat it, I left it n shared my husbands cheese. We paid £13 on our bill for our drinks and the cheese surcharge (having already paid £27 for the Groupon) so £40 in total, which was more than enough for the evening we had. Would I recommend this place NO, would I go here again NEVER, was I disappointed TERRIBLY. I've given 2 starts because the food was ok if nothing special at all and it wasnt the waitresses fault she'd been let loose front of house on a Saturday night without proper training.

We ate here last night, having used a groupon offer. The food was of a high standard, well prepared and delicious over all three courses. The patrons were most helpful and friendly. This is a great local restaurant which represents very good value.

I went to this restaurant with my wife a couple of weeks ago. I would not recommend it. She wrote a review, the owner answered by saying we had not payed and we left no tip, both of which are untrue. Daina was not even there. We had a groupon voucher so had already paid before hand, that was why we stayed for the meal, we gave the very pleasant waiter a tip and we paid for the wine we had had.

Marc & Drinks is a very nice and friendly place to eat, the staff are very welcoming and the food is lovely, we look forwards to trying more of the menu, early evening offer of £13.50 for 3 courses is very good value for money.

No atmosphere, bad decoration, gloomy, food poor. Only redeeming thing was the service by the young lad who was very friendly and attentive.

Have walked past this place a lot. Its facade hides a little gem. We went for the early bird menu and it is superb value for money the food is delicious and the service excellent .I will be returning.

Agree with most of the average/poor feedback. How anyone can use this place for a “celebration” is beyond me, when there are superb restaurants like World Service in Nottingham that know about customer service and quality. Had to try it out of curiosity and would happily not return. Can see why they depend on Groupon which is a hit and miss deal but this one is the latter.

We booked to go on a Thursday, early evening for a works meal (wasn't necessary as we were the only ones in there) The food was nice + very tasty although very small portion sizes with the meat (lamb and pork) Had 2 courses each which was fairly good value. Would go again to try some of the other dishes

Service was ok, probably the best part of the meal. Food is ok, but very bland, not exciting. I finished my plate but would not order again. The place needs to be redecorated. It is dark and has carpet on the floor with a not very inviting smell. I would not go again.

looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate our "not" Anniversary ( used to be anniversary but we have got married since. 9 years!! since we met. Already had the lunch out to recreate our first meeting . So looking to relax with some good food . Used tripadvisor for help and was heading for town. Thought we'd try local .

We booked this restaurant on Groupon a three course meal for 2. We had never been to Sherwood before so had to use the sat nav to find. There is a large free car park just at the other side of the pedestrian crossing opposite the restaurant.

The food was excellent .and service very good considering Dania does it all on her own .I had the scallops which were juicy and tasty .Then the stroganoff .Good portions .The vegetables which accompanied the meal were great .Great value for money i thought .I will definitely return .

Nos trataron con un grupo en una comida de 3 platos en este restaurante. No hemos estado antes, pero la experiencia fue buena. Daina te saluda y asienta, una dama muy agradable. Había ciertos artículos en el menú que no pudimos tener debido al precio, pero nos conformamos con el chassure del pollo. La carne era muy tierna y había mucha. Las verduras me parecieron bastante duras, no estaban lo suficientemente cocidas para mi gusto, pero también las he encontrado en otros lugares.

Visité aquí por primera vez la semana pasada. Ni siquiera sabía que el restaurante estaba allí. Sin embargo, habiendo tenido el restaurante recomendado por amigos, sin duda será un lugar habitual que visitamos.

Visitamos esta noche después de comprar un cupón de groupon y ¡guau! Fue la comida más hermosa de 3 platos. Mi compañero es un chef, por lo que es muy particular, pero realmente lo disfrutó por su cumpleaños. Un ambiente tan hermoso y tranquilo y super acogedor. Destacaría recomendar.

We dined here on a wet and cold Tuesday December evening. There was a friendly welcome from Daina and as we were first to arrive, we could choose any table (there are 26 covers). First impressions were good with everything very clean and pleasantly decorated. We sat by the window and it was just a little on the cool side. I ordered the Stilton, Port and Red Onion Pate (£4.95) and my companion had the Mushroom Basket (£5.75). I thoroughly enjoyed mine. The mushroom basket, while very good may have had too much horseradish in the sherry cream for some. Our main course was Crispy Belly Pork for me (£12.95) and my companion chose the Beef Cassoulet (£13.95). These were both excellent with lots of beef in the cassoulet and the crispy pork was delicious. Finally, it was cheese board and cheese cake to conclude. These were very enjoyable too, however the butter with the cheese and crackers was very hard and the crackers split and crumbled when I tried to spread it. In conclusion, we enjoyed our visit, and would like to return. Good value and excellent food. NB. We parked in the free Winchester Street car park which is close by.

Went with a friend on her rewards 50% off night. I was amazed how excellent the food was, a real treat that I would have paid full price for. A hidden gem in Sherwood. Highly rate the food and staff.

I enjoyed my meal the mussel starter with chorizo and coriander was delicious the portion was generous although the mussels were very small. my partner had the scallops which were delicious and had a lovely flavour. for the main i had the duck which was tasty and cooked well the gravey and vegetables were nice. My partner had the lamb which was disgusting it was burnt to a dry crisp I can't beleive someone would have the nerve to serve that to a customer. It was the dryest lamb I've ever tasted in my life it was hard as a brick. My partner doesn't like to make a fuss and he ate it. But when the waitress came over and asked how it was I told her my meal was good but the lamb was terribly dry and overcooked, she apologised awkwardly and that was it. Luckily we were using a Meerkat 241 code so didn't mind too much to just pay and, leave and never return. However I would of refused to pay full price of around £17 for that lamb. For my meal I would of gave a 3 star but because of the lamb it's a 1 star overall because it's disgraceful they would serve that to a paying customer regardless of if they were paying full price or using a 241 code

I had dinner here with a friend a couple of weeks ago. The restaurant was cold - I sat in my coat all night. My belly pork was tough and my friend's beef was chewy too. There were only two other couples in, who left before us. It was clear the staff then wanted us to go too. We weren't asked if we wanted another drink after our dessert, and the bill was brought over at 2045 (without us asking for it) and then the card machine at 2100. With all of the choice in Sherwood I would never go back.
